Today Max Keiser announced the launch of his own digital currency called "MaxCoin". There are very few details at the moment but a website and facebook page have been established (see below).

The Genesis block was solved today. It's not completely clear as of this writing when mining will become open to the public.

New York plans to create regulations that will guide virtual currency firms that operate in the state, possibly requiring them to hold a “BitLicense,” the state’s top banking regulator said Tuesday, one day after a major arrest in the bitcoin universe.

Benjamin Lawsky, New York’s Superintendent of Financial Services, said such regulatory guidelines would seek to bar misconduct like money laundering while not cornering in booming cryptocurrency technology. His comments came during the start of hearings this week - organized by the New York Department of Financial Services - on the future of online currencies.

I think It would be pretty substantial.

We get posts it seems everyday on the forum asking how to buy GLD with USD. The difficult part for most people when it comes to investing in altcoins is getting the fiat into the exchanges. Make that part easy, and a lot more money will flow into these markets.
