2681  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: CBN Mandate Banks to Use Social Media Handle for Customer's KYC on: June 27, 2023, 05:34:44 PM

The CBN’s latest move aims to bolster compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CFT) provisions while aligning with international best practices.

Na them them . The people wey dey launder money na which people my brother? Abi no be them ? Na them them. If them catch them now, wetin dem go do? Nothing. Highest dem go do plea bargain and collect their own from the money. Leave Nigerian government.

In an effort to enhance the accuracy and depth of customer identification, the CBN has made it mandatory for financial institutions to collect and verify customers’ social media handles as part of their Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements.
Now, Wetin Una think? Abeg say your mind.

Sometimes you go just see say Nigerian government dey far from the people. Dem forget say social media no be every person wey get bank account dey social media. Wetin happen to phone numbers? I think say na the same reason wey carry BVN and NIN come, dem don leave those ones come enter Facebook, WhatsApp, tweeter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Reddit etc

2683  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Bitcoins, religious leaders and the government on: June 27, 2023, 02:10:22 PM

Until this gap is covered by crypto learned people in the government house and religious places , it may continue to post some kind of threat.

No I think na until government begin provide better enabling environment for the people and youths of the country to help themselves at least get job or other engagements and dem stop the high level of corruption, nepotism and who you know for the country then tins go still dey as e dey and youths go still dey ball with btc.

I know say some people no dey make profit for the bitcoin trading but dem still dey manage like that because at all at all na dat one bad.

Well, not trying to be rude but I think this question is not asked at the right place because you specifically asked this question from Africans. So, I think it will be a good idea if you could ask this question in you local board if you have.

Thank you but it is just an open discussion that ensued from the financial summit in paris and nothing more attached to it. It is a topic that is based on economy of the world after they discussed climate change financing. So it is just a thread to talk on the issues arising from the New Global Finantial Pact Summit.
2685  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bet on live game or while game hasn't started yet? on: June 26, 2023, 08:24:32 PM

Are there people who intentionally waits for a match to start before betting on them?

It is not intentional but a feature that is now introduce in betting depending on the company, they call it different name in the options, it is either in-game betting, in-play or something else but what I know and have heard bettors discuss on it is that the odds are reduced that it will not be encouraging to bet on.

Can you bet on a game once it starts?

Quote
Live betting goes by many names. Depending on the sportsbook, you might see it called in-play or in-game betting. They all mean the same thing, which is betting on a contest that's underway. Whereas pre-game bets are processed before a contest starts, live bets happen amid the action.

I prefer to bet on a match even some days  ahead of the match because the games would always have some more better odds by then.

Yes it is the practice that when you bet games ahead of time, the odds is higher than when the game come closer, if the game approaches then the odd is reduced. This is because when the time approach, more publications and revelations would have been made about the team regarding the features, the players fitness, injury, bench and reserve against the strength of the opponent.
2686  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bet on live game or while game hasn't started yet? on: June 26, 2023, 06:57:54 PM

Cast your bet in a match that have yet not started or bet when the game is already live?

I think betting when the game is already up is another features in football gambling that some pundits like now because it provides an opportunity to be able to decide where the pendulum will swing to. By that, the bettor can access the options he is considering like how many corner kicks the second half could produce, throw-in etc

Found myself losing when the money line changes from 1.75 to 4.35 as the game began. But sometimes when I also wait for the game to start, it changes to worse such from 1.75 to 1.10

It is more like you can't eat your cake and have it. If you want to take the full risk of the game then you will be rewarded more but if you choose the lesser risk then your reward will be reduced. I think it is well understood that way. I know many bettors are caught between this web but it is really a new innovation that many have taken advantage of.
2687  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who do you think will win the Musk vs. Zuckerberg cage fight? on: June 26, 2023, 06:29:07 PM
I think the first thread is still fresh and running with contributions already, although you have added the voting side to it but from the first thread we are already seeing that Mark Zuckerberg is topping the list of probable winner majorly because of his younger age and strength which is assumed to be an advantage. Also he is a white belt in jiu jitsu, so enough has been deliberated to the advantage of mark.
2688  Economy / Economics / Ruto Calls for a new financial architecture on: June 26, 2023, 04:19:16 PM
So at the New Global Financing Pact in French, president William Ruto of Kenya was afterwards hosted by Macron (France president), Ruto was asking and suggesting for a global financial transaction regime where the procede would be in the care of a new financial organisation different from IMF, World Bank or any other financial institution but a brand new financial architecture of equals where power and governance is not in the hands of few people. I have miss the video but I'm sure the outcome of the submit is in the public space likewise the videos of them.

My question therefore is, with the call of Ruto, do you think IMF and World Bank as the global financial institutions have not performed very well in Africa economy to support in different ways or why do you think he is making that call ?
2689  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there real sports bet groups on: June 26, 2023, 02:02:33 PM

I get what you want to point out here in what you're saying, most people in this day and age that if you know a secret recipe in a business and you know it's popular with people too, you won't share your secret for sure.
Now, if you really know something that can lift a living person you don't need to form a group just for this matter. Maybe it's okay to do that if you don't ask for anything in return for that matter, but if there is something in return just think about it and that's questionable to me actually.

This is exactly the point because I have seen people who do giveaway to some people without asking for anything in return or creating a group online for the purpose of making additional gains for that which they are claiming to have been successful of, that is simply a means of exploitation. And really if someone is selling a signal, he is not making enough from that which he is claiming to be master of. Moreover there are several prediction sites online and they don't charge users but only makes there gains from the traffic they generate from visiting there site and adverts on the site which is better of than outright selling of signal on group.
2690  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there real sports bet groups on: June 26, 2023, 12:52:07 PM

There are legit groups but I they're  be overshadowed by the fake ones.

When it comes to soccer as regards to such legit groups, they hardly give out three correct winning games constant and daily. So most times they can share one winning game and it is not out daily. Therefore, rate of there winning is not constant and not anywhere near 85%. Moreover, giving out just one game is not enough because majority of bettors are those who don't have huge pocket to take big financial risk to stake on just 1.30 odd (on A level teams like Madrid, Barcelona or PSG, Manchester city) for example because some of those "sure" games that those groups share out are already predicted winning games around the betting space, so a bettor need at least reasonable winning games like 3 different games to play for a reasonable potential winning. So you see it will become a thing of running around the circle
2691  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Predicting Sports Betting Future Trends and Technologies on: June 26, 2023, 11:47:36 AM
.
3. Esports betting
Esports betting is the fastest segment of sports betting because it’s the fastest growing. It feels like every year there’s an eSports league in development.

Of course eSports is also part of the gambling Al that has been encrypted in video games for more relaxed games and for bettors pleasure.

.
Like horse racing, eSports matches take place every day and close to 24 hours a day. Unlike horse racing, animals aren’t involved, which means there is no cruelty aspect to Esports.

Usually, I think programmers have found love in horses and from inception have made races for horse competition but I know dog race also exist. And maybe I have not seen other animals like cheater etc, maybe they exist.

The more options, the more players become involved. Esports isn’t going anywhere. In some ways, it feels like Esports is on the path to replacing horse racing as the daily sport to bet.

How does it feel when horse racing is also encrypted video on eSports. I think with the different options including horse racing, eSports is growing daily and creating gambling experience.
2692  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there real sports bet groups on: June 26, 2023, 10:22:49 AM

Few of them are useful for people who don't have time to study or read about a particular sport for example football you need to be attentive and know what is currently happening around the club that he wants to bet your money on but this type of groups make things easier for people that don't have time to sit at the TV and study some sports you know, for informations.

On another hand some other pundits use them to compare others. Like they join different of such group but they belong to the free signal section to see what is being predicted there and they use them alongside with what they see from some other groups, they compare and contrast before staking their bet. These are the class of people who do betting for a living, they have the time to research on all that they want to bet. They sometimes compare idea with other bettors and doing such has higher chances of success sometimes but if you rely on just what was predicted without your personal effort then you may likely just be paying call fees with no benefit.
2693  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are there real sports bet groups on: June 26, 2023, 08:32:51 AM
If someone claimed they have the right strategy for gambling and winning more times than losing, why can't they use the strategy for themselves and change their lives first?

That is simple logic to prove to you that is fallacy. If you have a winning strategy in gambling, you don't want to bring it out publicly. For example when you get to offline gambling house you see bettors who win at least average of 50% but such people don't give out same games that will win but they can give out less probable winning games and conceal their real winning games. You hear such people cashing out the next day while your game given to you by them will fail. That is the reality of life.

Why did they go around looking for people to teach? This is why experience after following a friend to a gambling group on telegram, but I am not ready to take the step in any other their predictions..

Your getting to a telegram group may be good for you to have an experience that will help you understand what is happening there. Example if you don't pay you are not given certain games, you just get average games like free prediction but both paid games and free games have no guarantee.

My question for you my friends is are there sport betting groups that gives betting calls that are legit? Because I believe that if anyone knows a way to change their life around, they won't tell anyone, they will enjoy the moments and pray it last forever.

Not really winning games because nobody is certainly giving you such. They research them from other prediction sites and compare with their knowledge of the games and collect fees from you as you register. They have different levels of registration up to VIP and VVIP   Grin
2694  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: CBN Mandate Banks to Use Social Media Handle for Customer's KYC on: June 25, 2023, 09:46:25 PM

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has released its Customer Due Diligence Regulations 2023 or financial institutions under its regulatory purview as it takes a decisive stance against financial crimes.

This decisive step na on masses while dem dey pack the money go abroad. All these people just dey scam the people with impunity. Abi you never hear the scam involving CBN wey dem carry Emefiele? Little did you know about all these online transfer charges, stamp duties, you no hear say na private pocket dem dey enter? CBN go carry government money still borrow government. My brother forget oo, them just dey use people catch cruise and I know go surprise if dem still leave Emefiele because if dem keep holding him then heads go roll.
2695  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why People Still Gamble? on: June 25, 2023, 09:18:57 PM

They also will not force themselves to win because they know that victory is difficult.

This is the reason many casinos are rich today because there is a trend consistent gambling even when people lose, they believe trying the next game will be the winning key and they keep playing chasing losses because of their greed. It takes a highly discipline gambler to stop playing while he still has money to continue. This is a real life experience in the daily life of a gambler.

They will only play gambling for fun.

Not really the fact now because even when people say it but deep down their heart they expect huge profit from the bet
2696  Economy / Economics / Re: What do you think, do you see slave trading as a means of boosting economic grow on: June 25, 2023, 08:54:40 PM

But on second thought could this have helped build some country's economic growth

My answer to this is yes, it built the economy of those enslaving others because if you buy someone over you are definitely going to use them for among other things labour. They will add to your labour force and your production and manufacturing level will increase like you made the example of the cotton industry that increased to commercial quantity and that led to export which in return increased the GDP and revenue of the developed countries at that time.

So to answer your question, yes it helps to increase the economic growth because it is additional labour. But at present time, I can't say if there is still the kind of slave trade that existed in the past around 1800, that involved capturing people by force or selling of human beings to another country. However, I believe there is a new kind of slavery which is modern way where people exit their country to another country because of bad governance and that causes brain drain to the home country while the migrants contribute immensely to the economy of the recipient country.
2697  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling, investment, stocks..... on: June 25, 2023, 08:03:06 PM

Yes, indeed you can considering that these gambling companies are registered to SEC. But aren't you curious why investing towards gambling stocks are not gaining any attention by the public and the investors? It's because it's not really advisable especially if you're looking forward to invest in gambling stocks as stocks alone as a whole are much more volatile and much more risky because of its vulnerability mainly when the economy is declining.

I think another reason that the gambling stocks are having that level of high attention is that people who play most times don't make profit and so they feel it will be a wasted investment just like they have been recording losses. It takes a knowledgeable bettor to have a different view from what I have said because by the time you play repeatedly without no success, you also get discouraged from further investment, at least this is the way the larger population of losers will think.
2698  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: June 25, 2023, 04:28:00 PM
Is this happening for real? I am just surprised to see this type of gambling discussion which I have never imagined like two billionaires who have setup top companies will be competing in a cage match but have some dates been finalized or this is just another one of the influence drama going on for some upcoming projects for both of them? But if this is happening I am seeing lot of hype about it and a great event for gamblers as well with boosted odds.

How it started . I think this may just be another social media stunt that we are going to see unfold something as days go by. After three days that this story took over the air and musk mum tweeting on not going to see that come through, we are yet to get updated on the next move if these two rich dude are going to give the public something to talk about anytime soon but if that is going to happen, I believe crypto is going to rally so hard.

2699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A bitcoin retirement plan with a disturbing length of years. on: June 25, 2023, 02:54:18 PM

Why do people diversify their portfolios and not focus on bitcoin? They also don't trust bitcoin?

No I don't think it is because of trust that people won't stay with only bitcoin but however, there is a saying that a wise man doesn't rely on only one source of income to be financially stable and satisfied to take care of the family. Diversification is economically wise. Agreed that bitcoin has a level of guarantee but some other coins have survived through time so to also keep some reserve with etheruem is quite reasonable. Apart from bitcoin and etheruem, some other altcoins have also fluctuated and survived like bitcoin, variety is the spice of life as it is said.
2700  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The fight between Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Who you betting on? on: June 25, 2023, 01:44:56 PM
Many think that this will be a win for Zuckerberg, but they are different in height and weight and that could be an advantage for Musk if it is true that he does also have some experience in martial arts

It's funny how they also compare the net worth! Cheesy

But Musk is also 30 to 45 lbs heavier according to the text although I think that Musk is even heavier than that. It is 6 inches and the weight and of course technique is important above all else, but when both have some experience those differences in height and weight could be hard for Zuckerberg to counter.

If this fight were to be real I don't think your analysis regards to height would be an advantage in this because your have to consider age which is important to movement and speed. Looking at Mick Tyson in his prime, he was able to defeat most bigger fighters because of his age that was advantage for him and then his punch. So if musk had the combination of age and height then I would agree with you but now he only has height slightly higher than Zuckerberg and that may not matter
