26821  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: New to mining with Antminer S5 - Wanting some help to review my kernel log on: March 05, 2017, 08:16:30 PM
Hello fellow miners!

I was wondering if I may get some help with reviewing my kernel log to make sure everything looks ok.  Under my Miner Status everything looks fine. It shows alive, shows all zeros under ASIC which I've read means no errors, and my GH/S shows 1,101.59 with an AVG of 1,157.21

When mining I think my numbers look good for the mining pool URL and worker info etc.   But,  in Kernel log I'm seeing stuff I don't understand and I'm just hoping I can get some help/guidance as the majority of the time when it's mining I hardly see anything being Accepted.  I know this is an AntMiner S5, but I'm just starting off and read that this is a good miner to start off and learn the basic.

Below is a link to my screen shot of the miner status page
I've tried to insert a link to the picture/screen shot but it keeps getting removed.  Please Private message me if you wish to see it.

If anyone is willing to help me and review my kernel log to see if everything is correct please let me know and I'll post what you ask for.

Thanks,
RP

1100 gh is fine.

kernal log analysis is not needed.

26822  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: hashboard not working after internet disconnected on: March 05, 2017, 08:14:30 PM

I have antminer S9 and the internet was disconnected for 1 hours and work again but I see one hashboard not working (the red led off)

I try do restart many time not work..

I check the board if burned or damaged but its fine and I don't see any damage .

I try connect this hashboard only but not working also .

Now I disconnect this hashboard and the others two board working good.

I've noticed when I connect and power on all hashboard ,the antminer Restart several times but two hashboard work good and the other one not working ( red led off)

how can resolve this problem ?

it is dead send it in for repair.

that happens to some boards when the internet dies off.

Sorry it happened to you.

Is there an altcoin that can still be mined with a home pc and give something back?

I would like to try mining just to see the process so that I can understand it better.

yes  .  shoot me a pm and I can help you a bit.

are you in the USA?  I am in NJ,USA

my hub will do 16 sticks  easy.

my other hub will do 20 sticks easy.

my guesses are:

the mobo has a usb controller issue
the usb hub has an issue

cables don't work as well with these as the older  1 chip sticks
26827  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone can test these 6 Pcie slots Ryzen mobos? on: March 05, 2017, 05:26:03 PM
I had 9 rigs and the pandaminer in my garage.

4 x 8 = 32 gpus  the biostar z170's and 1 asrock and 1 h81 asrock
5 x 1 =   5 gpus  the aorus

1 test rig in the basement

I sold around 20 msi rx 470 4gb cards.

I was going to add new model 500  when they come.

the mobos were paid for.

My score was  made  cause I went higher end cpus.  mostly i5 6400t in the biostar z170's

I also don't flash the cards  so I can do sky high  -ethi 22 and -dcri 45

Dumb luck really.  But  it is making and extra 125 usd a month after power.

103 for a psu.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/262772079663?   I got tons of these  with a 10% coupon
0    for risers
5   for ssd  http://www.ebay.com/itm/112143250197?  also a 10% coupon
0  for smOS  https://simplemining.net/
100    https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138421  some got them as low as 61 on a sale

So for now I will run 2 cards on a 4 card mobo and take advantage of the decred money

My point is  6 card boards  are not always the best way to mine.  but they can be good.

26828  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone can test these 6 Pcie slots Ryzen mobos? on: March 05, 2017, 05:19:48 PM
it is costly  and I have found 5 and 6 card  intel z270's

I can use a intel i5 6400t that is 130 on ebay and a board for 109  cost = 239

amd the cpu is 399  plus 100 = 499

I don't recommend it

Very interesting. Which mobo are you using? 6 cards definitely is better than 4 or 5.

this does 5

my guess is both do six  but I don't bother to try

I have discovered an exploit  so  I use 2 cards per board  and miner eth and decred only  using claymore 8.

I can do this since I had  all 4 card riser less builds  I sold off  ½ my gpus to get ready for new 500 series amd.

I had the rigs paid for   so to play around I tried  running 2 cards a rig  rather then the 4. very easy on the gear.

I discovered  that eth and decred  can run at settings of -ethi 22 and -dcri 45  and

for my 6 two card rigs  and 1 one card rig and 1 pandaminer

power went from 12 amps x 240 volts to 13 amps 240 volts

or 2880 watts to 3120 watts  that is 240 more watts  with a jump in eth of 20-25mh  for all cards  plus over 7000mh in decred

this only works if you have a good cpu like an i5  all my boards have an i5 except the panda miner

so my increase in hash is in my 4 card rigs running  2 or 1 card.

those 13 cards across 7 rigs now do

if claymore 8   -ethi 4   should fix it

-ethi 8 is stock

you can try 7 then 6 if it crashes then 5 then 4

you will lose a little hash with 4,5,6,7  settings

my eth  for my pandaminer which has the exact issue as you  due to weak cpu

-epool stratum+tcp://us1.ethpool.org:3333 -ewal 0x3ef297e47404a771139472b93621f82c8a832857.Simple2 -esm 0 -epsw x -allpools 1 -mport -3333 -ethi 4

pandaminer on 4

i get 228mh  no crash
on 7 i get 230 mh crash
pn 8 the stock setting I get 231 same crash as you
26831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NEW PSU Died After 24 Hours? on: March 05, 2017, 04:41:09 AM
Now that the psu is blowing the circuit breaker the psu is probably bad. That is not what started his problems, though.

yes, of course, PSU is probably dead now and it was most likely not what started his problems, you are right.
Phil told him how to test PSU without connecting it to anything (with a plastic dummy/jumper short for the 24 pin connector, which is usually included in the box these days).

@ op I don't want to curse at you and call you terrible names.

But I have four firefighter relatives alive and one dead ( World Trade Center)

Your choice of putting in a bigger breaker was bad. Unsafe and if you had a fire with loss of life criminal neglect.

Never put in a bigger breaker. Unless you know exactly what you are doing.

Please be more careful.
Dude even if you know what your doing you should never upgrade the circuit breaker. The reason circuit breaker have rating is to match the rating of the wire in the wall. So unless you change the wire there is never a reason to upgrade the breaker.

If you know exactly what you are doing when you upgrade a circuit breaker from 15 to 20 or 25 to 32 amps it means you know to upgrade the wire.

But in the case of the op. Whom has no fucking idea of what he is doing he needs to be more careful.

My early post told him to rma the psu.

He did not he upgraded the circuit breaker.  And of course popped the breaker.

I offer my prayers for the op and his family and the fireman that serve his town.

if they toss back to back that is  1 in 10000 chance   my guess is the pool has

bad code
bad server
bad internet
or bad gear mining on it.

Or the pool owner decided to snag a block reward for themselves. I hazily recall a pool getting caught out for the statistical improbability of their never finding extremely lucky blocks back around 2012. Turned out the owners were taking all the blocks the pool found below a certain share threshold.

That falls under bad code , but could be teased out of that slot .

maybe

bad code and or bad pool op.

or two separate spots.

I had a pool with 6 of 10 over 90%  and 2 of then 90's were 99 back to back.

I stopped mining there a few years back.

So our bad block is caused by some bad gears? What make our miners be bad gears?

No and we have not had bad luck since December.

The 65 days in 2017 are about average.

Your problem is you are thinking short term and your  definition of bad luck is not very good.

The last two blocks were not back to back 99%. Which is my definition of bad luck for short term

Do you think that we got attack or something wrong? The luck is so bad.

nope  really bad luck  is back to back 99% cdf   that is 1 in 10000 chance.

I have a rule  if a pool does back to back 99% cdf I leave it.

The only pool I have been in to do that is not kano.is

You can send me a pm to ask me the name of that pool.

So the CDF is really important to the pool luck in future? Or it is the history of luck?
If any pool always get some bad block, that pool will be close?

no and yes.

it all depends on how well coded the pool is.

If a pool is created code and equipment and internet close to flawless  luck should run better then 99%

An example
in the long run a clean perfect coin toss should be 50-50.

So if a guy tossing a coin is doing 60-40  for a hundred tosses  you start to think  the coin is not perfect.

So  if kano's pool is :
 good code
 good server
 good internet

with good mining gear it should run  very close to 99%   luck  which is around 60% cdf

So  luck and cdf are not the same term.

When a pool tosses a 99% cdf  it should be 1 of every 100 blocks

if they toss back to back that is  1 in 10000 chance   my guess is the pool has

bad code
bad server
bad internet
or bad gear mining on it.

Finding a good reliable one.. not so easy. the one you quoted above, the op is not yet selling.

yes you are correct.  it is not ready for primetime.

it does appear to be higher quality and may be worth waiting for.

In my case with the riserless rigs and smaller psu i don't need it but felt it should be mentioned.

tried to send consolidated transactions and they are stuck.
it was cool before to get 30 payouts (or more) in one mo, but with current ridonculous fees it started to become a burden.
is there any chance for kano pool "accelerator" aka submitting tx to you for inclusion in the next block?
alternatively, don't sent them so often (not sure if it is possible).

i check my 'stuck' transaction (about 30 kano-inputs) and some services suggest $40 fee to "push" it...WTF?
The whole thing might come tumbling down soon if this continues for a while.
EDIT: viabtc says that tx does not exist. Well, it DOES exist on blockchain.info and blockexplorer.

I just paid a big fee   in terms of  btc  it was 110 sats a byte  but

cash wise 5 usd for 310 usd  this is a combination of kano and f2pool as they mine to the same address

3273 bytes  at 111 sats = 0.00363204 fee

https://blockchain.info/tx/d8d6dc5efeccfa97cb5c8c53d129cbf2b6d4bc44d7bd935ed98f5cb420b8b48f

this site says 111 sats a byte should be 5 to 35 blocks

https://bitcoinfees.21.co/

It is only 2 blocks   since I did this.  and around 54 minutes
