I did suggest an IPO a few hundred pages back for a master node as a service offering; Evan suggested a kind of fractional ownership a few pages back.

Clearly we need an element of trust between someone with the technical skills to set-up and manage a master node and those with DRK to invest. The trust bit causes all sorts of problems, and asking someone to run a master nodes is time consuming and therefore adds to the cost.

I'll have a think about some options to get over this.

If this if it happens should be a third party thing, no need for Evan to get involved. (Not sure if you were suggesting he should, just my opinion.)

I think it remains to be seen though just how profitable masternodes will be, and because it's a moving target due to changing masternode count, block reward etc. it's going to remain difficult to predict, though things might find a bit of equilibrium in a month or two.

I can see a number of uses for masternodes but the core should remain Darksend, depending on how ring sigs impact that, and what else the boss has planned.

Thought just popped into my head (it happens now and then) - Evan kind of reminds me of Derren Brown.  Undecided  Grin

How to know for sure whether your masternode is actually working?
If you can see it here: http://drk.poolhash.org/masternode.html it's a pretty good sign. But even there, mine come and go a bit, or have done, seem steady at the moment.

lol...

It's a whale trying to lower the price to buy in again. Seen this on every coin.

Sell wall GONE...
If the intention was to lower the price, big fail. I think it will get steadily harder for the whales to keep milking the Darkcow.

P2Pool is ready for testing.

Masternode support and various fixes has been added. It is based on the latest p2pool code and includes full commit history. More changes are coming soon.

It won't work on mainnet before the May 25 hardfork.

I'm on IRC if you need any help.

Wtf is with 10 times daily wallet updates?

Even offial website can't catch up... v0.9.4.5 mentioned on darkcoin.io as latest stable version, in wallet it says v0.9.4.6!

We are preparing for a hard fork, the coin is implementing something critical that has never been done before. Thus the dev is making sure every detail is taken care of.  That means doing more updates than usual, be patient is all for a good reason. Most coins never update wallets because there is never anything new.
Evolution baby.  Cool

It looks like the masternode count has been inflated due to a bug in the old protocol. My guess is we have less than 50 masternodes (currently I see 34 active). This also means it's suddenly very profitable to run a masternode again.

50x Masternodes = (576/50) blocks * 10% of the reward = 7.7DRK/day

7.7DRK * $6.64 = $51.13/DAY

Masternode cost = $6640, so that's 281% ROI per year.

Run a masternode or having trouble syncing the masternode list? Please update: https://darkcointalk.org/threads/update-to-0-9-4-4-or-0-10-8-4-to-prepare-for-the-hardfork-on-may-25.712/page-2#post-4304

Some way of confirming for sure that your masternode was kosher would be good.

edit, just updated to latest 10.8.5 (same download link everyone!) - looking very good indeed!

Here's what darkpool sees: http://darkcoin.io/masternodes.txt

Updated, now 46

Check Masternode status.

Tallies with what I see. Both my current ones are on your list, I'll run with that.  Grin

LOL, farcical.

US troops are guarding Afghan poppy fields at the taxpayers expense and the CIA are the biggest drug runners on the planet. Good luck finding all that drug money on crypto exchanges lads!

Yeah, that downtrend/MACD negative of over 10 hours had to end sometime Cheesy 10 hour pump cycle begins. time to buy.
Time to buy was about 3 hrs ago mate.  Grin

edit: or 3 weeks, lol, but whatever.  Cheesy

looking at price we will have 1-2-3 months forward it is still cheapy.
Oh I know, I've sunk another two grand into DRK in the last few days. Going to be a helluva Christmas... Smiley

So I am setting up masternode on OVH.  Got Blockchain to download and list of masternodes but I cannot run the commands getinfo or getmininginfo.

xxxxx:~# darkcoind getinfo
error: couldn't connect to server

xxxxx:~# darkcoind getmininginfo
error: couldn't connect to server

Ideas?

Thank you.

I am running as normal user.  When I start "darkcoind", I see this in the log...

But I cannot run darkcoind getinfo or darkcoind getmininginfo.

My conf:

xxxxx:/$ cat ~/.darkcoin/darkcoin.conf
#----
rpcuser=random_user_name
rpcpassword=random_password
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
listen=1
server=1
daemon=1
logtimestamps=1
maxconnections=256
#--------------------
# change change_this_to_your_ec2_public_ip_ami_public_ip to public ip address which you connected by ssh
externalip=<SET TO MY VPS IP>
#---------------------
You should have masternode=1 in your conf.

But the getinfo/getmining info should work anyway. Dunno. Huh

Try it from within your .darkcoin directory with ./darkcoind getinfo

roughly how much does a single masternode earn per day given todays total available coins and price etc Huh

Depends on the count of masternodes out there

128x Masternodes = (576/128) blocks * 10% of the reward = 8.1DRK/day

Equation is ((daily block count * block reward) / 10) / no.of masternodes

So, with a block reward of 5 (worst case scenario), each masternode earns ((576*5)/10)/128 = 2.25 DRK a day with 128 masternodes. 500 masternodes brings it down to 0.576 DRK/day. (Someone estimated there were 600ish addresses with >1000 DRK)
2716  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [MRO] Monero logo contest on 99designs.com on: May 20, 2014, 10:58:13 AM
Well, thanks I guess. I was thinking of picking up some monero, but with behavior like this, how could anyone ever trust these clowns?

Good luck with your radical "Fuck the supporters!" management style.

Monero just cancelled their logo bounty after getting tons of free design ideas, because (probably partly thanks to the logo competition itself) the coins value went up.

So at 300 MRO we have no incentive to pick a design from all your hard work here instead of just going to professionals.

What shady fucks. Can you even imagine Evan pulling shit like that?

DRK Forever.

LOL, what a shitbag. If I had any monero I'd dump it immediately, how could you ever trust these clowns?

Anyone knows why my wallet shows about 100 DRK more than the blockchain for my address? Wallet updated to the latest version (yesterday's version), fully synched. I've had this problem for the past weeks. Also, which of the 2 show the correct amount?
Your wallet probably has more than one address. Try this: In wallet, Settings > Options > Display > tick display coin control features, then Send > Inputs - should show you addresses and balances in your wallet.

Green crocodile bots and red crocodile bots acting nicely as price stabilisers on the Darkcycle.

Maybe the powers that be have taken pity on the daytrading chartwitches?

Or maybe they are tormenting them, as they cannot progress to Chapter 4 of the bestselling, "Rape Yourself! Daytrading For The Fuller Figure" manual:
How To Ensure You Are Cursed By Future Generations As The Most Feckless Of Ancestors.

this coin definitely has a future.
evan is doing a great job with this coin and its code.. but..
there is some big issues i see..
coin is not ready for a volume this big, too fast too early
or, maybe it is the natural evolution of a(lt) coin to make progress through other people losses
Let me guess, you threw yourself into the barrel of beautiful tits that is Darkcoin, and came out sucking your thumb?

Should have held.
