In this case, perhaps trade = transfer?

2703  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL to not match competitors products not shipped on: December 07, 2012, 07:16:42 PM
All I care about is who is shipping first. If BFL does end up shipping weeks or months ahead of competitors, the 12gh/s loss is inconsequential. I also predict that within a few moths, the market will be flooded with ASICs, bringing ROI well above a year. At that point, ASIC manufacturers are going to need to adjust prices to create demand. The real battle is going to be the coming price war and unfortunately I think the early adopters (me included) are going to be the losers.

In order for that to happen Avalon must delay their product release significantly, bASIC must again be significantly delayed, and most unlikely of all BFL must stop yanking everyone's chain with bogus release dates every two weeks and ship an actual product. What are the chances that all three of these things will happen?
2704  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASIC Certification Requirements? on: December 07, 2012, 07:09:18 PM
Why are you looking for ASICs on FCC's site?

When is the Jalapeno getting FCC approval?

Maybe two weeks? We are waiting for the test lab to issue the test report.

With the bump in power requirements on the MR and the new screen, we had to make changes, although the new screen is already certified.  We are doing all the devices at once, since they all share the same board.
2705  Other / Off-topic / Re: And some more delays in BFL shipment plans on: December 07, 2012, 11:11:07 AM
Troll or not, he's right. BFL reps should STFU about shipping dates until they have a legitimate shipping date to talk about and not just a new soon to be cancelled "fuzzy" date. Repeatedly announcing overly optimistic shipping dates you have zero hope of meeting is just bad business.
2706  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: BFL ASIC worth the risk for pre-order? on: December 07, 2012, 09:17:47 AM
Not necessary. NIST is the goobermint agency charged with explaining the physics behind the collapse of WTC 1, 2, & 7 on 9/11/2001. A high school physics teacher then dismantled their theory in seconds. It was a truly pathetic display.
2707  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL are expecting 100,000 chips... on: December 07, 2012, 09:12:31 AM
No idea. I've never owned an FPGA. Going right from GPU to ASIC.

I hope you guys are happy with your BFL products, whenever you get them.

2709  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: well i stopped mining yesterday on: December 07, 2012, 06:02:23 AM
Same here, plus it's cold here. I tried shutting down the miners, it was weird.
2710  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL are expecting 100,000 chips... on: December 07, 2012, 06:01:05 AM
I dunno 'bout that. You haven't given me anything to cause me to question my beliefs sir. Wink I never considered it an argument, merely a discussion.

Oh and THIS IS TEH LAST WORD!

Cheers.
2711  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: BFL ASIC worth the risk for pre-order? on: December 07, 2012, 05:26:02 AM
How do you know that? How do you know BFL's "scheduled shipments" will actually ship? They haven't shipped any ASICs on schedule yet, they just give it some lip service and another fuzzy schedule. Thus far their ASIC launch has followed their history with FPGA products. If that trend continues this could get ugly for BFL customers, particularly for those that paid early with BTC.

I hope they do follow the way of the fpga release...  it would mean singles (SC) will ship before the rigs. more of an advantage...  and a delay is good to.

Do you think difficulty will rise given the current landscape.?

The longer they delay, and still be first to ship asic, the better it will be for the early pre-orders.

That's the whole ball of wax right there isn't it? Both Avalon and bASIC are now saying they'll ship in mid - late January and BFL will ship...umm...whenever the energy is right. I give BFL a very low chance of beating Avalon to shipping at this point, they've been jerking their customers around for months already.
2712  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL are expecting 100,000 chips... on: December 07, 2012, 05:01:57 AM
<looks around>

...here I thought this was a discussion board. Silly me. BTW, bite me.

If you don't mind paying $230 more for 12Gh/s less then be my guest...madam.
2713  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Development Status [Batch #1] on: December 06, 2012, 08:31:24 PM
Probably the only one experienced from BFL team was the "old nice looking lady soldering singles" picture , but unfortunately even that picture was removed from their website lately. So guess what no one of the "experienced" employes left Grin
I am just wondering who will solder BFL ASIC's as long as lady has gone??? Huh

Josh + pajamas = soldering machine!
2714  Other / Off-topic / Re: Already delays in BFL shipment plans? on: December 06, 2012, 08:29:39 PM
You're probably better off just dropping the refund money on BTC and sitting on them.

That's the conclusion I came to.  Had the products shipped earlier, it would be a different story... but they didn't, so it is refund time, which BFL did provide me.  I suspect as more and more people think about it, they're going to start demanding refunds as well.

Ultimately, the majority of miners, even if they love BTC, measure what they're doing in terms of dollars.  Let a big upward trend reveal itself and you'll have everyone jumping ship on Josh and Tom and whoever else so they can get their dollars, buy BTC, and make dollars that way.  I could be wrong, but I have a feeling if things continue to go bad for BFL, the hard-core fans are going to get stuck holding the bag.

Agreed. Same goes for BTCFPGA. They're being entirely too quiet lately, precisely when they need to increase transparency to separate themselves from the competition. The whole ASIC landscape is disconcerting ATM, though if I were an Avalon 1st batch customer I'd likely feel more at ease presently.
2715  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL are expecting 100,000 chips... on: December 06, 2012, 08:25:39 PM
I don't find it annoying in the least. I find it to be a savvy and geek friendly decision by Tom. I supply the PSU from the company I trust with the capabilities I believe I will require and BFL can keep their multiple questionable PSUs that I have zero input into. Meanwhile each time I plug in additional devices to said PSU I lower my cost basis for the whole setup compared to the competition.

I like Avalon's choice of self contained units even less btw as that means each one will have redundant power consumption components and their associated expenses. Convenient yes, but not efficient.
2716  Other / Off-topic / Re: Already delays in BFL shipment plans? on: December 06, 2012, 08:17:24 PM
Doesn't that equate to BFL shipping before January 14?

For me equates to "We have no idea what we are doing".

lol Agreed. I'm convinced they're(he's?) either totally incompetent or deserving of a scammer tag. Repeatedly spitting out "scheduled shipping" dates that don't make any sense is costing people money and preventing them from re-distributing their resources elsewhere. It reeks of intentional deception.
2717  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL are expecting 100,000 chips... on: December 06, 2012, 08:12:45 PM
He also said it would power 10 units. That's $27/bASIC which is very reasonable, so again BFL looks overpriced. You're barking up the wrong tree here. A monster PSU is not required to power a bASIC according to it's developer, a relatively inexpensive unit will do nicely and likely allow for expansion as well.
2718  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The next difficulty on: December 06, 2012, 08:02:42 PM
The hash rate dropped for a day or two and is climbing right back to where it was.
GPU miners went nowhere it seems.

That's because LTC difficulty hasn't adjusted lower yet. It's currently more profitable to mine BTC. Many will switch back to LTC mining when the difficulty adjusts.
2719  Other / Off-topic / Re: Already delays in BFL shipment plans? on: December 06, 2012, 07:52:13 PM
Doesn't that equate to BFL shipping before January 14? Is that Avalon's current shipping date?

I don't see that happening, but time will tell.
