2701  Economy / Economics / Re: MONEY IS THE MOTIVATING FACTOR, what do you think? on: January 17, 2023, 04:29:31 AM
Any man that seeks to follow money becomes misled.
Money is meant to follow you, while you are meant to follow value.  Create value, solve problems, and do it well, you'll attract people to follow you; remember, money follows people with value.

What's your take on this?

Money is definitely a motivator if you want to live comfortably. As our world depends totally on money for achieving a comfortable life or at least meeting your obligations, earning should be one of your main goals if you truly want to experience a hassle-free life. But there lies a difference between rich and being satisfied. A person may be rich but he may feel empty on the inside especially if they have no friends, etc.

The way to deal with this is to balance a healthy lifestyle with your peers and earning money. While the latter should be one of your main focuses, you should not totally discredit other means as this will keep you active in other aspects of your life.
So, isn't the confortable lifestyle the motivating factor? Isn't it the goal, after all? While money is just a tool you have to use in order to achieve that.

It's true we have to focus in earning money, as nothing can be done without it in this capitalist world, but we can't forget we aren't working and put our effort in activities because of money, rather it's because of what money can bring us, like the confortable life you mentioned. The problem is that when people have money as motivating factor, they are going to forget their dreams, family, confort and welfare, and become addicted or greedy in profiting infinitely, without limits. Then life ends and nothing was really lived and experienced.
2702  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It is ok to sell your Bitcoin. on: January 17, 2023, 04:04:47 AM
~ Do people hodl just because others are HODLing?
I don't think so. People hold because they see potential in doing this aiming future gains. Of course there is the hype thing, that leads many people doing what others are doing, but it's always aiming profit which will benefit each of them privately.

~ Why so people hold rather than sell and buy again when low
Because they don't know if prices are going to fall more yet. Let's say holders decided to sell their coins on the present moment for 21,000$, imagining this temporary rise is going to send price back to 15,000$ soon, and on the next day Bitcoin skyrocketed to 40,000$ and never got back anymore? That means they lost the opportunity of holding for the next bull run. So better to not risk selling coins.

~ What is your major reason for HODLing and how do your survive the bear market?
The goal is to reach the next bull season. We survive the bear market by being patient and hopeful it's just temporary. That is all.
2703  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: My advice If you are here to make money on: January 17, 2023, 03:03:14 AM
Frankly, if you want to make money, don't trade often. Just buy Bitcoin and wait until it goes up. It may take a long time and crashes can happen meanwhile, but don't panic, keep your focus on your primary goal that is to make money with Bitcoin on long term. If you do day trading or future trades, you are already under severe risk of loss, doesn't matter the method you are using on your execution, so prefer the safest route which decreases risks, while still keeping a decent profit margin.
2704  Economy / Speculation / Re: what caused bitcoin to go up this january 2023 on: January 17, 2023, 02:23:30 AM
If someone figures that out, i would like to know. There are ton of different theories but i am guessing it's the one i haven't yet seen. I would like to think it was time, or that this is correction for dumping so fast, but i don't think you can justify this hope and trust on the markets just by technical analysis. Fundamentals on the other hand didn't make any sense to me either as i was probably following wrong ones as i can't figure out major bullish triggers. There were only bearish triggers that are obvious for anyone following the markets.
The most curious hypothesis I've seen:

its got nothing to do with the CPI reports or other social drama of fiat

the real reasons

december had an artificial whale wall holding the spot price down below $17k because whales had "futures" contracts on the futures markets, whereby, if at year-end. when many contracts expire and if price is below $17k= they win.. and so they held the spot price below $17k to win. and they did.

the new year began so they removed the whale wall.. to allow free flow of more normal speculation..
and that was it

and new contracts this week show a new artificial spot market wall of $21k where they dont want to see prices go above $21k

when those contracts expire they will remove that whale wall also

its not rocket science

when you see a chart have a weirdly unnatural flat-line(zoom out if you cant) it keeps hitting. explore the reasons for that wall/line
I didn't understand why whales would profit from futures' contracts if BTC stayed below 17,000$ by the end of 2022, but that is exactly what happened, as if the market was indeed being manipulated by big investors, working like a "dam" to not let Bitcoin pass further or through, just like now there is strong dam damming Bitcoin at 21,000$ price range.
2705  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Vs Cardano on: January 17, 2023, 01:14:25 AM
Cardano, Solana, Aptos... There are so many alternatives to Ethereum that they become a bunch of altcoins we can't exactly differentiate one from each other, while Ethereum remains where it is, in evidence, and there isn't any signal this is going to change soon. Investors have developed a strong bond with Ethereum, similar to the even stronger bond they have with Bitcoin. That is not the kind of thing rival altcoins easily break. Even expensive gas fees weren't enough to decrease ETH's popularity.
2706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to profit from altcoins collapses? on: January 17, 2023, 12:14:47 AM
Buy the dip and hold until the next bull run. However, make sure you are choosing a legit and solid altcoin, and not dead altcoins which collapsed and have no recovery chances. Do your research, check who are the developers, what the concept of their altcoins is, if there is any important investor or sponsor behind, the practical usefulness of the altcoin. I would start checking what are the best alternatives available from the top 100 cryptocurrencies.

On the other hand, if you are still in doubt after doing this and don't know which altcoins to invest, forget about them and go for Bitcoin. That is the safest crypto investment which is less likely to disappoint you on long run.

So i have to be subscribed to freebitcoin advertisements?
If you go to your profile, you see that there are four kinds of subscriptions.
1. Payment notifications
2. Deposit notifications
3. Ad account Notifications
4. Promotions

TheQuin is the only one who can answer this and I am not sure, but I guess for receiving lottery winning notifications, you should need to subscribe for "deposit notifications".
Confirmation from support is needed, but if he receives daily emails containing free WoF spins, withdrawal and deposit plus FUN maturity notifications, he must receive a lottery winning notification as well, if he wins the prize.

I also heard once that when you win the lottery, a message displays when you access your account at freebitco.in, but since I've never won, I can't say exactly where the message is displayed.
2708  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: National Police of Ukraine takes down cyber crime group on: January 16, 2023, 11:04:36 PM
Even if we take everything into account [e.g. spoofing part], I still don't get why a lot of people "still" fall for such obvious scams!
- If they're already in possession of the recovered funds, then there's no reason for them to ask for more when they can easily deduct their own fees from the recovered funds!
Probably because the phone calls are made from official banks' numbers.

Here in my country similar scams happen, but not involving cryptocurrencies and not involving the comission requirement.

Instead, scammers tell the victim they are the manager of his bank's agency and that his banking account was hacked, therefore they need their debit/credit card and every personal details to revert the transactions made by hackers and retrieve the money.

So they send a motorcycle messager to the victim's address (in the name of the bank), and tell the person to give him the card inside an envelope, addressed to the local police officer.

Target victims are usually elders, and they really trust the bank is trying to help them, since the call comes from an official number, as we can check on Google.

I don't know if scammers use top tier technology or if the schemes happen with the participation of banks' employees, though.
2709  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anybody else confused by the dead-coins pump ? on: January 16, 2023, 10:31:39 PM
Regards Celsius it must the own scammers using depositors' funds to pump their token. They have been doing it since always and now they have the permission from the court to continue using creditors' funds as they wish, to run their scammy company.

That is an attempt to fake a demand for the token, expecting investors will fall for this bait, what I highly doubt at this time.

Anyway, they don't care. It's not their money they are wasting...
2710  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Miss Universe 2023 betting. on: January 16, 2023, 10:06:29 PM
Betting on Miss Universe should be against the law if it isn't already imho. If some event is going to be rigged it's going to be that, and it most likely has always been rigged. And it would be impossible to prove that wrong person won because that would be a matter of taste so it would be perfect crime to make money. I seriously hope that event would be a thing from the past as only thing it serves is the rise of eating disorders amongst women.
I'm pretty sure there have been many controversies in pageantries of the past but I doubt it would be declared illegal. You may want to petition to ban betting on popularity events like Oscars and maybe even elections hehe. How about betting on sports? Would you also like to ban football if players or officials were caught rigging the game?
People bet on such entertainment awards knowing it's a matter of personal taste from the judges involved, so I guess it doesn't need to be forbidden. Gamblers who don't feel confortable betting on Miss Universe and Oscars, since they belong to the same category, can just avoid it. But for others, like movies' fans and people from the beauty industry it must be funny to practice their prediction skills in areas they have a lot of knowledge.
2711  Economy / Economics / Re: what is the key to your success investing in bitcoin.. on: January 16, 2023, 08:33:55 PM
Get a job, at the very least, or add another source of income. If you don't have extra cash to risk on a highly volatile asset, you can't just buy bitcoin. In addition, exercise discipline in all financial decisions, just as you would in any other area of the market for investments. And more importantly, improve your security and privacy to protect your hard earned money.

That is how you stay in the long run.
You can't just rely on bitcoin alone because its a highly volatile investment, so have your own main source of income and make bitcoin as a side hustle. That way, even if bitcoin drops its price most of the time, you will not be bothered and triggered to sell. So you can hold it for long term and make significant profits in time.
People who can't hold for long periods of time must be really in a hurry for money, so they have no alternative besides selling their Bitcoins at loss. But if they really need the money, we can't blame them for doing this, because it can be worse if they keep the holdings, but neglect a financial demand they face, especially if it's something related to their health and safety.

Patience is the key for success in Bitcoin investment, although without spare money, solely patience won't open any doors...
2712  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Aptos speculation on: January 16, 2023, 07:55:02 PM
Aptos has its roots on the centralized Facebook's Diem, which was discontinued and became Meta later. Both of its main developers were part of Diem.

So you can expect it's a project which has the sympathy of the mainstream technological world of investors. They have wealthy investors and huge money potentially coming in.

I think Aptos still haven't reach its full potential price and it could be profitable to invest on this currency aiming the next bull run. On the other hand, since it has come from a failed project (Diem), there is already a history of failure which doesn't bring good luck to the investment, besides being also attached to SBF from FTX, who led a raise of 150$ million for the project last year. I believe projects which are connected to negative people aren't good opportunities, because they don't bring stability and reliability to investors.
2713  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Influencers, affiliate links and scams on: January 16, 2023, 07:18:55 PM
YouTube has become a shithole and in my opinion, we are better off to avoid it most of the time.
There are so many crypto gurus and wealthy gurus in general on Youtube. It has really become a very suspicious place to find financial advices. It's so easy to fake a life of richness and success in videos of 10 minutes. Here in my country a scammer financial advisor took a homeless from the streets, who got famous for a depraved situation which gained notoriety on the media, and put him to trade Bitcoin with binary options. Then he recorded videos with this homeless, who claimed to be making 1800% profit trading daily for just one hour.

Then exhibited a hypothetical high middle-class apartment purchased for the homeless (through "Bitcoin trading" profits), a lot of ostentation in parties, shops and trips...

Everything faked and probably sponsored with money stolen by the scammer who managed the homeless. In the end, once the homeless' hype was over, the manager just kicked his ass and now he is back to the streets begging. Tongue
2714  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you handle your losses on: January 16, 2023, 07:00:30 PM
I only set a bankroll to play and that is the maximum I will spend on gambling for the week, usually 50-100 or max of 200 dollars.
That is all we have to do to handle losses without further consequences. If you stick to a fixed bankroll, you don't have to worry, because once that money is lost, you know your gambling session ended and you will start a new one only next week, with another limited fixed budget. For gamblers having difficult to stop playing, it's better to never deposit more than the amount they set to use for the week, otherwise they will feel tempted to continue wagering with extra funds, even after losing the pre-determined amount.

I know Stake casino has a "vault", where gamblers can store their money, so it won't display on their balance. It can reduce the temptation a little bit, but if it's still not enough, it's really advisable to deposit only the amount which is going to be wagered on the week.
2715  Economy / Economics / Re: These Are the Top 10 Most Profitable Side Hustles in 2023 on: January 16, 2023, 06:09:27 PM
I didn't expect family assistant at the top of the chart, to be honest. Moreover, I find it strange that these are job listings that don't have requirements. I suppose you can start in sales or telemarketing from scratch, but surely you at lead need some medical qualifications as a nurse aid to administer medication? And would many people risk leaving a child with a family assistant that has no references from previous employment, no former experience with children?
Also, like some others mentioned, these could be proper full-time jobs in some countries, so it's interesting how in the USA they are side hustles.
The employer must ask for recommendations and references from previous employers before hiring the candidate. Some educational background must be also needed in some cases. The fact is that most of those side jobs involve a lot of responsability and commitment. Family assistant has a lot of tasks to complete and can be decisive in a family's routine. It has to be a dynamic, energical, attentive and smart person to fulfill that spot. The hourly payrates are huge! My doubt is for how many hours someone can work as a family assistant. If they can work for 8 hours daily, it's almost 200$ a day! Here in my country people work almost an entire month to earn that amount.
2716  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: January 16, 2023, 05:13:35 PM
Canada and Mexico will host only 10 games each. USA will host 60! Total of 80 matches for the next World Cup. Probably there will be logistics to not exhaust players when travelling from one place to another.

I didn't know that and doesn't feel fair at all because the ones who will print with that event will be USA while the 3 of them have to spend a lot of money for the event. I think the matches should be split into the same amount of games for each country because doesn't worth making the infrastructure and the conditions in a country only for 10 games. I feel like Mexico and Canada will lose a lot of money with this.
Maybe they did like this exactly because USA already has the infrastructure to host more games, while Canada and Mexico are in humbler conditions. It was said no stadiums are going to be built, and I imagine they want to reuse most buildings as possible which already exist in their countries so they decrease the investment and maximize financial returns from tourists.

Quote
As it stands, the format for 2026 will mean 80 matches across the tournament - although that could still change. The United States would host 60 matches, including every match from the quarter-finals onward, while neighbouring Canada and Mexico would each host 10 matches.
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/64032538

Yes, that's likely the case why the USA will have to host more games than Canada and Mexico. It says in the article that I've provided that the USA will most of the games during the quarter-finals onward because they have the biggest stadiums that can cater tens of thousands of people who will match the said matches during the event. Meanwhile, The FIFA Council will release more information in the coming weeks regarding the upcoming 2026 World Cup that will be hosted by 3 countries in North America.
Indeed, the biggest one is in Texas (AT&T Stadium in Arlington) and support almost 100,000 people! What games must they be going to play there, finals, maybe? That is huge, but personally I wouldn't go to a stadium like that, because the more overcrowded a building is, the more dangerous it's going to be in case of emergencies. Imagine if people have to leave the place instantly the turmoil, chaos and despair around.
2717  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A good way to promote Bitcoin or not? on: January 16, 2023, 05:05:55 PM
So my wife and i has a big wine 🍇 store and this includes other drinks as well, we sell in packs, and loads of people always come around to buy from us, I am thinking if this is a good opportunity to start promoting Bitcoin? I mean if some can pay Bitcoin for goods and services it will help even if they are few.
You probably have seen a considerable number of threads from retail sellers on this forum section sharing their personal experiences when adopting Bitcoin as a payment method for their businesses, especially in Nigeria. So yes, it's a good a way to promote BTC to potential new adopters who have never heard about it before, or have heard, but have no clue on how to start dealing with the digital currency.

If you have spare time to teach and guide your customers, it's really a good idea. This way you will also be helping Bitcoin adoption to grow, consequently boosting BTC price even more.
2718  Economy / Gambling / Re: Freebitco.in - FUN Token Investment Experiment on: January 16, 2023, 04:41:41 PM
yesterday I tried to buy 5000 FUN and it didn't lock it so I didn't get any benefits as a premium member, I thought I don't need to lock it I can get the benefits but I didn't, I think I need to think again to lock it later, I need to add my cold money again On the other hand, being a premium member seems like fun
You don't need to lock FUN to receive premium benefits. It's just that premium program doesn't start working immediately. You will start receiving rewards after 24 hours you deposited or acquired FUN in your account.

Locking FUN only relates to the staking program, which is another thing.
2719  Economy / Gambling / Re: Freebitco.in - FUN Token Investment Experiment on: January 16, 2023, 06:26:30 AM
Thank you for the effort at keeping the thread updated, and thank you for moving the thread here, i never would have discovered this thread.
I'm glad you enjoyed! Thank you!

I bought fun tokens when they were launched on the freebitco.in website and after a few months I ended up selling them at a loss because the performance was much worse than the price of bitcoin. In other words, it was more profitable to invest in bitcoin what you had invested in Fun tokens and the difference in profitability compensated you for the extras you get in freebitco.in and you have more to spare.

After selling I have not followed the evolution of the price, but now I have just looked at CMC and I see the price of the token is not rising. Not worth in my opinion.
I understand your frustration, which is quite common when investing in altcoins. That is actually the reason why I avoid such investments.

However, what motivated me to acquire FUN isn't its growing potential, staking or even extra WoF spins, but raised interest rates on Bitcoin balance.

If you have a decent amount of BTC invested in freebitco.in, to hold some FUN becomes more interesting, as you can see on the monthly spreadsheets.

12,500 FUN gives you access to the best cost-benefit premium program tier.

I bought a small amount of FUN tokens when Freebitco.in launched this back in the day, but I have not kept track of it's progress and I have never continued using the wheel spin feature, because I did it a lot of times ...and constantly hit about 50 Sat/spin.  Roll Eyes

I was glad, when I heard that the FUN token could be used at other casinos too, which gives it more utility and a reason to buy more. At this stage, it is less effort for me to have a fixed deposit at a Bank at a higher ROI... than investing in FUN tokens and having to spin a wheel of fortune for 1000s of spins to get a few Satoshis.  Roll Eyes
Well, you can also let the daily spins stack up and use all of them at once, with a single click. Some users are saving almost 1000 spins already to roll at once.

Anyway, it's just one feature of the premium program. The interest paid on BTC balance works exactly like a bank, although a bank has guarantees crypto websites lack.
2720  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin AI Generated Images on: January 16, 2023, 06:10:05 AM
- As you cannot directly influence the composition of these images (at least with MJ) but only indirectly by tweeking some parameters and adjusting your prompt, it usually took between 5 - 25 tries (renders) to come close to what I had in mind. Sometimes it also seemed impossible to really get there
Sometimes I just give up when I see the AI isn't understanding what I mean. But I still try changing one word or another on the prompt before. I've never gone too far like 25 renders. I usually go until 4-5 attempts, although many of the results in OP were achieved in one try.

- Rendertimes depend a lot on activity, servers were often overwhelmed so you would wait between maybe 15 seconds to 10 minutes just for one image
Here it always render pretty fast. I think I've never waited more than 3 minutes. It worths mentioning there is something called "fast" mode. By acquiring the subscription you have 15 hours of renders on this mode. After that, your prompts join a kind of row, where you have to wait other people's renders (in fast mode) to complete first, until you finish yours.

- it's a lot of trial and error but also needs some knowledge on advanced parameters to get to the desired result. Back then there were already some decent guides and a good discussion forum, so you should be able to find a lot
You can ask any doubts in Discord MJ server itself. There is a specific channel for this kind of doubt and people there are very helpful.

- imho postwork (in PS, or Gimp etc) is necessary almost always if you want to use these images in a professional context
Yes, as you can see my Neanderthal on the last image has 6 fingers. Still realistic, but MJ doesn't know counting fingers with precision. Cheesy

- don't expect to get too much done with the free version, 25 renders are gone in no-time
Indeed, a subscription is a must. Paid 30$ on the second tier for a month.

Added to the personal experience of @Kryptowerk, I also wrote mine. I hope it clears your doubts out, @kryptqnick.
