Bitcoin was never meant to replace fiat but meant to be a secondary choice or alternative payment for people who wants decentralized,  free from regulations and not controlled by governments type of currency. Yes it is very volatile that's why it manage to make money millionaire's in just hours or days with it's insane price leaps, it may go down but it eventually recovers. That's why people invest in it.

Bitcoin can become a sideline, extra income or full time job. It can also be a good paying job for unemployed people while they're looking for real a job. You just have to research how does bitcoin work,  how to earn it and the many ways to earn it like trading,  mining,  faucet or if you have programming skills you use that skill to earn btc.

Bitcoin is my top suggestion for long term investment cause it has higher price and more stable price value.  My short term altcoins are ETH and XRP they seem to be growing and developing quite well with lots of new projects coming this 2018 but ETH might fall because of its coming fork. Also try to find some ico's that has good tech, good whitepaper, great devs and little supply.

This is the great thing about bitcoin it's decentralization. No one controls it,  no one owns it and no third party can trace your transactions or how many bitcoin's you own. But if you want to exchange it to fiat of course there are some fees to pay depends on the amount that your converting you might pay a lot. If bitcoin gets legalized then the government could implement some rules about this, if they could.

No one can predict what might happen in bitcoin all we can do is speculate. As ive notice the more that bitcoin gets popular the more it's price increases like simple economics the higher the demand the price value also increases insanely. My story is same as you im also unemployed and before i was dependent in matters concerning money. Yes it's not like your altcoins will expire if you leave it for many years but the price though may go down especially if that altcoin is not popular and has no good technology behind. Altcoins are only good for short term investment so it's not recommended to leave your money on altcoin that might not even reach 1year.

No matter how secure one system is, no matter how great a security is there will always be one flaw and that is human. Just be wise and read stuffs to protect yourself from in the internet you'll be fine.

In this kind of situation's i believe you should the ether support or simething i think they has does.  The primary reason why people get hacked not because of a system failure but because of human error cause by default we are gullible and very trusty.  Maybe you give away your private key or click something in the internet and goy infected with a malware.

For me,  my best investment is bitcoin just by hodling a little of it ive manage to gain good profits plus im doing some sig campaigns so i can increase my btc while holding without having real money to invest.
