Well you know... because that CHRISTIAN person wasn't born in Africa or middle east or anywhere else where the christianity isn't the main religion. Old testament rules should not apply to the modern day and age, it's heavily outdated and it should just remain a simple book without any obligations to take it seriously, just like Harry Potter or any other fantasy book. The new testament is the same story, altho the people don't live for 5k years and so but it has it's own stupidity, like the christian Gandalf and stuff. There are many Christians in Africa, who were born there. Old Testament rules and laws are some of the best around. They offer freedom to the nation that follows them. However, there are O.T. rules and laws that were made for ancient Israel government. There are O.T. ceremonial laws that were set in place to point to the coming of Jesus. Those laws are not requirements any longer. The O.T. laws that are requirements are the moral laws. Why? Because people have not changed physically and mentally much since the Beginning. Like as the laws of nature fit people, even so the moral laws of the O.T. fit people. Disobeying both, natural laws and O.T. moral laws, will bring trouble onto the disobedient people.
We can't truly deny that there is no god(s), I'm not a religious person, I don't believe in anything, theisticly, but I can't truly deny that there might be something on the level above us, I'm not speaking of any gods that we know, none have proven to exist, but something else, something different from what we know.
The knowledge of God is deep down in the heart of every person. But there are few people who know themselves close to that depth. |

I personally believe religion is one of the best "Arguments" (Excuses is a better word) for the universe being. Instead of using only science which currently says the big bang caused things to form without knowing what was before the big bang religion says everything is how it is because of X reason/person who operate on a higher level of being to us.
That being said I believe there is definitely things that humans aren't on a level to understand, think unexplained coincidences or senses that plants have and humans don't, in saying this I don't believe in any god, just that there is 'more' to the universe.
Science doesn't say Big Bang caused the universe. Some scientists and the media say that. They use science theory, not science fact. Science fact says God created the universe. How does science say this? Cause and effect is science fact, upheld by Newton's 3rd Law, which has only been slightly weakened by science theory, which is not known to be fact. Cause and effect say that there has to be a Great First Cause. Because there is intelligence in the universe, the Great First Cause must have been intelligent. (The fact that cause and effect works in EVERYTHING shows the the Great First Cause is intelligent and powerful way beyond understanding.) There can be no such thing as "before" the Big Bang because time did not exist as we know it before the Big Bang, or even during it. In the same way, we cannot really say "before" the creation, because whatever is outside of the universe doesn't necessarily behave according to the laws of the universe; we know very little about the laws of the universe. Don't get me wrong. I agree that you are going in the right direction. I am just expanding on what you have said. I created the God that created the Universe. I win. You are young and reasonably healthy and strong, now. But when your strength has faded, remember the God Who created you, before it is too late. |

I think that answer is very simple.
Purpose of life is to be happy.
More difficult question is how to achieve it.
I think that answer can be find in many spiritual books and teaching because lasting happiness we can't find only in material things.
We need also God in our lives.
The answer is not very simple. Depending from what aspect you're looking at. From the aspect of biology the meaning of humans is the same as of the animal, reproduce and keep the species alive, therefore there is no purpose in life besides that but the goals in your life and what purpose you want your life to have is up to you. Actually, the biology of humans is different than that of animals. No animal has the ability to reason. There are differences in the biology of people that allow them to do this.
But if you look at it from the aspect of religion, it's pretty much be born, obey, die sinless. Depending of what religion you follow that's your "purpose". But since religions preach differently from one another, it's stupid to blindly follow one and deny the rest, but that's where faith comes in.
Actually, faith is the thing that everyone lives by (or dies in). Why? Because nobody knows the future. We think we know some of the future simply because God made life to be reasonably stable in most ways. But there have always been people who died in accidents that they never expected would hit them, or they would have lived their life in a different way to avoid the accident. Consider the person who dies in a terrorist bombing without even realizing that he is dead. The faith of everyone is automatically placed in God, even though he may not realize it. There are no atheists... way down deep inside each person.
Your and everyone elses "purpose" on this planet is to reproduce and keep the human species alive, you decide what you want your own purpose and goal to be.
It was the command of God that caused people to reproduce. God is looking for people who believe in Him. And He is getting what He wants... even though he has to go through a bunch of unbelievers to get some believers. He doesn't want unbelievers to be unbelievers and die for it. But He offers freedom, so that it is the unbeliever's choice. |

Of course atheists don't hate religion. They have their own, loosely knit religion called atheism. Antitheists are simply atheists who aren't sure about their religion. That's why they fight. They think that if they can do away with theism, their religion will become real and true. Many atheists have dogmas within their atheism religion. Actually, it is atheists who are hating themselves. They are setting themselves up as judges, judging that there is no God, when they do not know that there is no God. They do it because they hate God. But by setting themselves up as something greater than God, by going so far as to say that He does not exist when they don't know it, they are making themselves out to be gods above God. Then they oppose themselves by remaining atheists. Religious people of religions other than atheism don't hate atheists. Rather, the other religions are trying to show the atheists, who have fallen for lies just like the people who believe the Nigerian email scams, that their religion is completely ridiculous. The Bible tells us that on his own, nobody can follow the Bible completely and accurately. I follow this teaching, so, I follow the Bible completely and accurately by not following it completely and accurately. Jesus followed the Bible perfectly. When He died on the cross, He took the punishment for all my inabilities and inaccuracies. Now (since His resurrection), He offers His perfection to me. So now, I can follow the Bible accurately and completely through Jesus, no matter how I follow it. The result is eternal salvation for me because I accept the perfection Jesus is offering to me. People who do not accept the perfection of Jesus will receive eternal damnation. I don't know who these people are, one way or the other. I don't know if you follow Jesus in your heart even though, in this forum, you might state that you don't. But if you do accept Jesus, there will come a time that you WILL state such, formally, or else you will lose your salvation. Just out of curiosity, can you direct me to the exact wording in your bible which says "nobody can follow the Bible completely and accurately". This is not something I believe to be in there. I think you have misread your holy book and placed your own interpretation onto it. Of course by doing so you have broken yet another rule of your bible:

I think that you assume that because you say something about me, that you are right, when you are not necessarily right.
Therefore, this would imply that your bible is the word of your God and as such should be followed completely.
As you do not follow it completely by your own admission: "by not following it completely and accurately" any statements you make and have made are now worthless and null and void.
