It might be a good time to reiterate that I've ordered a top-of-the-line, +12V single-rail, hugely expensive ($287.43) 1200W PSU: Corsair AX1200 (although in my previous post I swapped the "AX" and the "1200").

Professional Series™ Gold AX1200 — 80 PLUS® Gold Certified Fully-Modular Power Supply

Proofer, $300 for a power supply way overboard. Why would you spend $300 on one 1200w power supply when you can by 2 700w for $120-$140?

IMHO, this is just wasting money.
2722  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: I have 3 5970s on the way; now what? on: December 01, 2011, 03:15:06 PM
So a 1000W PSU should be enough, even with a HDD?  --I might decide to do some SW development with this system.

No, a 1KW PSU will not power  3 5970's in a stable configuration.  Many, many of my initial problems when building my bitcoin rigs turned out to be power related.  Once I switched exclusively to 1200w PSUs, 90% of my stability problems went away.  Running at the threshold of a PSU will induce all sorts of intermittent problems that are nearly impossible to track down.

+1000000000

This is why ALL of my rigs are dual PSU to specifically avoid this problem. Dual PSUs are almost always less expensive than a single PSU of the same wattage so there is also cost savings in dual PSUs, even if you have to buy the dual PSU adapter.

I am here to help those interested individuals who would like to buy bitcoins and stay anonymous.

Paypal accepted with OTC rating or other credentials, otherwise moneypak with receipt.

PM me if interested.

I would recommend you do something like this:

These are a couple of rigs I have running. PM me if you would like some details.

You move out of the dc or you have some at home too?

This is a picture of them being burnt in at my house before being moved to the DC. I will details the specs when I get a free moment.
2725  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: What mining pools have you tried? What did you think of them? Where are you now? on: December 01, 2011, 02:10:36 AM
I am at yourbtc.net. The pool has merged mining and the best reward system around. Since I joined the pool, I am running 12% OVER PPS which for me adds up to an extra 75 btc during the time period. PM me for details.

2729  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Scam Alert Mitchell Bourne and the European Bitcoin Conference on: November 25, 2011, 02:01:46 PM
This thread is ridiculous. It would seem that the individual that started this thread is now turning it into a defense of his business.

I call bullshit on his original claim and can personally vouch for Mitchell that his business dealings are fair and honest. Mitchell has kept his word on every occasion we have worked together and I would do business with him again at the drop of a hat.

OP, please go back into the cave you crawled out of and delete this thread.

Can we get bit-pay involved in this somehow so these organizations have an easy, "done for you" solution to accepting bitcoins?

Maybe the guys at bit-pay would be willing to lower their fees for charitable organizations?

While having money ready to go to donate is awesome, I also think we should be offering a "solution" to the problem we say they have.
2731  Economy / Speculation / Re: [POLL] Have you paid for products or services with bitcoins? on: November 24, 2011, 11:24:05 AM

When your electricity bill is more than the rent, I think your landlord will do something about it. Just a hunch though.

Good luck.
2736  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Request for an RPC capable fork of cgminer (110 BTC pledged so far) on: November 22, 2011, 10:15:33 AM
I'd be happy to pull any code that is done in a satisfactory generalised manner into the main branch.

Since you are in the thread, would you be willing to do the work? If not, what would it take to entice you enough?  Grin

IMHO if this work is done, cgminer will be able to spread like a weed and become the default miner throughout the land.
You seriously think that the people who don't use it yet will suddenly change their mind because of this ... or that a lot of people don't already use it?

Hi Kano, yes i do think more people would use cgminer including myself if it had some type of programming interface to interact with the miner for stats. If you would like to use something other than json/rpc calls, make your case and program it.

I'm asking for this so cgminer can have monitoring tools added to it.

2739  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER CPU/GPU miner overclock monitor fanspeed in C linux/windows/osx 2.0.8 on: November 21, 2011, 02:20:33 PM
Who would be willing to add an rpc interface to cgminer and have the code added to the next release? I would like to see this feature added so others can programatically access cgminer. I would be willing to pay of course, in btc.

I will add 30 BTC to any bounty started for such a project.  Would also award a bounty for a fork if it feasible to integrate into the main branch.  A fork might be best as a lot of code related to output and display could be removed.  Hell all CPU mining code would likely be removed to.

Honestly all I would want is a daemon that is started by config file, has output (think bitcoind) and responds to RPCs.

The minimum RPC to satisfy the bounty would be:
* start/stop/restart GPU
* shutdown instance (end cgminer)
* report current monitors (temp/load/clock/hashing speed)
* report global output (total shares, accepted shares, rejected shares, stale shares, etc)
* report individual card output (same but on per card basis)

I'm also willing to chip in 30BTC for this feature...

Holy shit! Ok devs, this is a 90 btc bounty. Couple hundred $$$. Who's ready to knock this out?

Well, seems like this idea might catch on.  Cheesy

DeathAndTaxes, thanks for offering up the bounty. I will add another 30 btc to see the work completed as you suggested.

Anyone else want to join in?
