Great ideas about showing our luck and expected income versus actual income. I'll see what I can do.

Maybe you could just make 2 small charts (1 for BTC and 1 for NMC) representing CDF for the blocks that we found, with 0 at 50% CDF, so that blocks found below 0 or 50% CDF are "lucky" and vice versa. So anyone could see at a glance the past luck of the pool.

We just surpassed 100GHps thanks to 3 new big bad ass miners.  Smiley
[edit] they just went away and we are back to 70.

BTW: about the statistics I would suggest a new one about our actual luck compared to what theoretically should be according the pool speed.
Some time ago this kind of stats were published as graphics about the major pools at l0ss.net

We just ended another loooooong round.
Cheers, and many thanks to Steamy.

Many thanks Jim,
I just ran the following .reg file:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jar]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.jar]
[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.jar]

as indicated on the second page you found, and it fixed everything. So now I can run Multibit.

Thanks again.

I just installed Multibit (on XP), but when I click on its shortcut it starts Ovi (a Nokia application to manage my smartphone).
The same happens if I click on the Multibit executable or its uninstaller.
Any clue?

A suggestion for the Live stats: how about showing my % of work done in the current block/shift, and the number of proofs of work accepted by the server in the current block?

Before someone here reinvents http://www.bitcoinplus.com, he might give a try to the original.

I am using it on a few low traffic blogs, and it is not intrusive at all, since it runs at low priority. But in about 3 months made me 0,003 BTC, since cpu mining with javascript is efficient like sh*t.

Any hope to have a Symbian version for Nokia phones?
2731  Other / Beginners & Help / n00b question: is BTC infrastructure *really* 100% decentralized? on: October 18, 2011, 04:51:33 PM
Or it could be put off by a great Bitcoin crackdown, a campaign of assassinations or s/t like that?
Where do the miners/pools connect to get their problems to solve?

Sorry for the noobness, but I am too lazy to study the white papers.

Shut up and mine. :-D
At this price I am already mining at a loss, but I am doing it anyway to keep the house warm (and fuzzy), and because I am a believer, due to the potential (still largely unrecognized) of keeping and moving a convenient asset under the evil gov't radar screen, and because I expect an euro and dollar crash in the medium term that will make the bitcoin price crash seem like an hiccup.

I was just stopping by to whinebitchcomplain and smoke a bowl about the current nearly-2-day-long block we're dealing with right now, blugh. With how low Bitcoin's value dropped over the weekend... just... WOW! Nobody to blame kinda makes for moot conversation though Tongue
2733  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BIZ] [IDEA] [RFC] International cash transfer via a Bitcoin-based network on: October 17, 2011, 10:03:11 PM
I would like a totally anarchist system with no agencies (and regulations and taxes), but just agents/mules that you can find at any time with a system like google latitude. They would take most of the cut and be available to meet clients in their area.
Many immigrant communities in my country use informal systems of this sort to send money back to their countries cheaply.
2734  Economy / Speculation / Re: A Great Thing Happened Today on: October 17, 2011, 06:28:16 PM
Just a reminder that the price of bitcoin is irrelevant if you are using them instead of hoarding them.

On the contrary: the cheaper they are, and more happy should hoarders be, since they get more bangs for their bucks.

Even if I already lost my shirt on BTC, I think I would buy some more when I will see some relatively stable bottom, or when they will be sold for peanuts.
2735  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The fact is Bitcoin is dangerous. They know. on: October 13, 2011, 08:56:49 AM
I think the banksters are having much bigger and urgent issues at the moment, and BTC is still under the radar screen of 99,9%, but in case it will become a serious treath for them, I would bet that they will attack first of all manipulating the market like they are doing with gold and silver, causing booms and busts in the price (and profiting all the way), maybe even attempting to disrupt the network in any possible way, and attempting to create fake BTC like they sell paper gold and silver.

Luckily, interventions by law would not be effective (they would backfire being free advertising for BTC), otherwise it would be too easy.
2736  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BitMinter miner (FAST, cool GUI, zero installation, Windows/Linux/Mac) on: October 12, 2011, 09:27:28 PM
Yes, beta is fine. I just increased the work intervals to 20 (I used to keep it at 10 with previous version) to obtain the same performance I got with the previous version. But in addition my puter is much more snappy and my cards a bit cooler with the beta.

Alternatively you could calculate expected earnings as "if we found a block right now you would gain..."

Is it possible to calculate future earnings from the shifts completed ?

I fail to see any info on this.. ?

I still don't have all the numbers up yet. I am planning to add something like "Your score in the 10 latest shifts is 2% of the total score. That will be your share of the income from any blocks built during the current shift." and maybe "A block with a total income of 50 BTC would give you 1 BTC."

Is that the kind of thing you were thinking of?

2738  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BitMinter miner (FAST, cool GUI, zero installation, Windows/Linux/Mac) on: October 11, 2011, 08:57:36 PM
Even my 5750 on another pc is slower: from 175 Mhs with the previous version to 163 Mhs now. Same settings, of course.
Even my puters seems more responsive though, so I am happy anyway.
2739  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BitMinter miner (FAST, cool GUI, zero installation, Windows/Linux/Mac) on: October 11, 2011, 07:16:37 PM

It seems a bit slower on my 5870: now i get 395-405 Mhs against 415-420 Mhs with the previous version using the same settings.
Even my card seems a couple of degrees C cooler though.
