2741  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT - Easy persistent USB key based linux for dedicated miners/mining farms on: November 21, 2011, 02:03:05 PM
There is currently a 60 btc bounty offered up to have a rpc interface added to cgminer -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=28402.msg625993#msg625993

Please reply to the cgminer thread if you would like to see cgminer as an option on the bamt stack.

This could get interesting...   Cheesy

Update:

A new thread has been started to get this work completed.

Who would be willing to add an rpc interface to cgminer and have the code added to the next release? I would like to see this feature added so others can programatically access cgminer. I would be willing to pay of course, in btc.

I will add 30 BTC to any bounty started for such a project.  Would also award a bounty for a fork if it feasible to integrate into the main branch.  A fork might be best as a lot of code related to output and display could be removed.  Hell all CPU mining code would likely be removed to.

Honestly all I would want is a daemon that is started by config file, has output (think bitcoind) and responds to RPCs.

The minimum RPC to satisfy the bounty would be:
* start/stop/restart GPU
* shutdown instance (end cgminer)
* report current monitors (temp/load/clock/hashing speed)
* report global output (total shares, accepted shares, rejected shares, stale shares, etc)
* report individual card output (same but on per card basis)

Well, seems like this idea might catch on.  Cheesy

DeathAndTaxes, thanks for offering up the bounty. I will add another 30 btc to see the work completed as you suggested.

Anyone else want to join in?

Anyone else seeing an odd delay in MtGox showing balances?

I've had 4 payouts thus far from YourBTC->MtGox, first one at:

2011-11-20 05:48:04

And none of them have posted to MtGox yet.

BlockExplorer shows them fine, though:

http://blockexplorer.com/address/12gh7zgDJy4TskMn1EyEiHLpzNeAnBJSX7

Anyhoogle, pool seems stable and strong.

Hey Hotdog, I too have btc transactions into mtgox that have yet to show up. We've been gox'd.

It's interesting to see that many pools have been losing users while yourbtc.net has been gaining.

Not only is this pool larger than all of the unstickied pools I've found it's now comfortably larger than ABCpool.co, eclipsemc.com, and bitcoins.lc.

yourbtc.net is currently the 7th largest pool (just behind eligius.st and bitclockers.com).  With another 50 GH/s, it would be in the top 5 with ars, deepbit, slush, and btcguild!

It's also good to see that the Merged mining bonus has increased to about 6.4%.  This is a decent bonus when you consider how much some people complain about losing 7-10% in fees at the biggest pools.  I can comfortably donate a decent amount to this pool and still do very well.

Well said! Every little bit help.  Grin

Anyone know where I can pickup some 5970s? Trying to upgrade my pair of 5830s, but these things seem hard to come by. $500 each on newegg seems steep.

grubles over in #bitcoin-otc irc is selling 4 of them from around $400 each. You might want to touch base with him.

Per Giga's invite, I have joined you all in the never ending search for love. Interesting method you got here, and I look forward to seeing how it pays out, literally and figuratively. I still have a few machines to move over, and hope to bring... meh, 6 more cards on next week? Something like that.

Love and kisses,

Hotdog

Thanks for coming over Hotdog. Don't forget to show your pride -> http://btcstats.net/?yourbtc

It appears the site is down but the pool is still running.

Good thing urstroyer got us off that other server!

The latest btc block we found was orphaned...  Angry

But we are in luck.

urstroyer has paid everyone in the round for the orphaned block. He paid out 62.61273634 BTC out of his own pocket.

I don't know about you, but that's one generous pool op.

I have up'd my donations.

Thanks urstroyer!

echo "atitweak -f 85" >> /etc/rc.local

there's quick and dirty Smiley  but what i meant is that you could use that fan script on any machine, its not limited to bamt rigs at all.

you are correct. although with atitweak, if i just did the command you typed above, it would only effect the first 5970 on the rig and not the other 2. Weird.
2752  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: 20 bitcoins for a 60-70 dollar moneypak!!! on: November 16, 2011, 05:15:47 PM
I got scammed with the moneypaks into paypal.  If the transactions get flagged, they can and will remove the moneypak funds from the paypal account. They will then lock the funds up until someone with a receipt contacts them.  If you are going to accept moneypak, you should demand a copy of the receipt.  Anyone buying the moneypaks legitimately will have the receipt and it should be trivial to post a private picture/scan of it somewhere.

Thanks for this imsaguy! This is good info to use in otc trading.
2753  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT - Easy persistent USB key based linux for dedicated miners/mining farms on: November 16, 2011, 05:11:44 PM

ok.. well it depends on how much you want the value to come from the bamt.conf.. to set the fan speed its just one command that can be included in any startup script:

atitweak -f XX

where XX is 0-100 percent... it will set all gpus to that or you can do them individually by specifying -A X where X is the gpu #.

if you just want all your fans at 100% or some other common value, i'd really just add an atitweak command to your startup.  If you truly want a tool to pull it from the bamt.conf, its a lot more work but i should have some time this weekend.

After 4 hours of back and forth with my new buddy mega_p2k, we have a start up script that just sets the fans. You can download the package here:

http://p2k-network.org/~p2k/atitweak.tar.gz

and see the init script here:

https://gist.github.com/1370598

If you like and use the script, please donate to Patrick as he did an amazing job.

glad you have something that will work for you.  unless i've missed it, this doesn't actually pull a fan value from bamt.conf and is really a stand alone type of thing with it's own configuration file in /etc/default/atitweak.

You are correct. I went for the quick and dirty.  Grin

mv /opt/miners/phoenix/wrapper.pl /opt/miners/phoenix/wrapper.no

now it won't start mining.  there are lots of other ways too, thats from memory as i don't have a bamt rig anymore, but basically just do anything that makes the phoenix part fail.

I am sure I could hack at this and make it work, but I have 20 rigs and it would be nice to just run the installer. Again, I am willing to pay for your time to help me with this. I was under the assumption that you wanted to get paid for the work you did. I am offering that.

i appreciate the thought.  i was trying to give you a quick and easy free solution, but if you really want something more sure i can add a "dont run phoenix" option to bamt.conf, would that work?

i don't even have a test rig set up anymore, but i can probably hack it into the perl easy enough, it isn't much of a change.

So here's the skinny - 5 days a week the rigs are doing other tasks with the GPUs. 2 days a week they are mining. I have used update-rc.d to make sure /etc/init.d/mine does not start at startup. I need something like /etc/init.d/setgpufans that i can setup to run on startup to just set the fan speed based on the bamt config.

I have 5970s running the in low 90s right now and this cannot go on for long. I appreciate your help.

2757  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT - Easy persistent USB key based linux for dedicated miners/mining farms on: November 16, 2011, 01:01:38 AM
I am in need of some modifications to BAMT. Basically i need an new init script named something like "setfans" that will use the bamt config to only set the gpu fans on a rig. I also need this to come as a .tar fix that i can explode onto an existing BAMT install. It would be great if I could donate this to the project for others to use.

I need this because I have rigs doing other tasks besides mining (yes, I know) but I still need to be able to set the fans for the gpus.

I am willing to pay in BTC, dwolla or whatever and need this rather quickly, if at all possible.

is there some reason you cannot just remove the items you don't want from the config?  leave the fan setting, remove the rest?

The GPUs are being used by a different software and I do not want mining to start at all.

Looks like yourbtc.net is climbing the ranks, we're the #8 pool by blocks found -> http://blockchain.info/pools?timespan=4days

I see us as #5 on the "4 days" chart and #4 on the "24 hour" chart; serious business!

I'm happy to report that the new server seems to be running fine for me.  Time will tell if this solves the server instability issue.

urstroyer has promised me that he is setting up monit to automatically restart any services that start using so much ram, cpu or can't be reached for whatever reason. This should solve 98% of stability issues as the server should be able to monitor itself.
