2741  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambler Loses 1.4 million USD in a bet with lower than 1.01 odds! on: January 20, 2023, 08:53:04 PM
Wow. That is an absolutely massive amount of money to lose in hopes of making a 1% gain. I wonder how many times that gambler has thrown around giant sums of money to get an easy score. I also wonder if this will be the last time this is attempted or if they’re so rich that 1.4 million is just play money to them. This is a great tale though for gamblers who chase the easy victories. There are no sure bets.

My educated guess is that he must've done it in the past and it paid off, so he kept going. Or maybe it was just a drunk, impulse betting.

I wonder if he had an opportunity to make another 99% win-chance bet of $140 mil to recoup the lost $1.4 mil, would he do it? I'm pretty sure he would with little or no hesitation.

That is if he got that much money to risk in the first place. Someone betting a million dollars in exchange for almost $11k is someone who's still in need to grow whatever they have. If he is the type of person that has more than a hundred million sitting there, for sure he wouldn't really risk that much in order to gain some chump change. Maybe he thought that it's an easy $11k and he could use the proceeds for whatever reason he might need, but didn't see that the game wouldn't turn out as was stated by the odds.

If anything, this event might even force him to not bet for a long time and think twice about those 'sure win' odds.
2742  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Has an exchange ever blocked your Bitcoins from Signature earnings? on: January 20, 2023, 08:23:15 PM
A local exchange did, back in 2017 because I didn't want to give them a paper trail of my finances. Unfortunately, I still have 0.2 something bitcoins in that exchange but I no longer want to deal with the stress that comes with fixing my account. They closed the account because they thought that the funds were coming in from a gambling platform (which it doesn't), and back then the country is really tight against offshore gambling platforms due to the issue of widespread fraud and money laundering. Until now, the balance is in the said account as I can still open it, although there is a notice that states that I cannot use it in any way unless I submit my financial records supporting my claim that I have the financial capability to buy and sell that amount of bitcoins in that account.

Kinda sucks really. Since then I started using Binance in late 2017 and never really had problems at all.
2743  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: January 20, 2023, 07:35:57 PM
They're about to lose two tournaments from having DPC, unlike the other teams that will qualify and do better in this current DPC season. There's the DPC for these qualifiers and then if a team qualifies, they'll also be able to compete in Lima and top placers will still have another DPC points. That's such a wasted opportunity for them.

Worse is, they will be relegated back to Division II since they are currently last in the rankings. They still have 3 matches left, if they win them all, maybe they can still retain their current division. Maybe they can defeat Nigma Galaxy and ITB but I am not confident they can defeat Tundra. Tundra is still very shaky this season but they are still reliable to win. They are still the same roster as last year. Secret will have a hard time winning against them.
That's the challenge that they need to face, winning all of those three games but will they dominate with all of that? I have doubts on that as they're lackluster for all the past games that they've got. Three games are with:
  • Tundra
  • ITB
  • NGX
A not stacked team named ITB is even at a higher ranking currently against Team Secret and Nigma. Well, Nigma looks going to be back at division II.

On these teams, only NGX is the possible team that Team Secret can defeat, while in Tundra and ITB there is a high chance that they'll get their asses kicked. Pretty sure NGX and Team Secret will go back to Division 2 and get lower exposure in tournaments there, which is just apt considering their performances lately. Here I was hoping that whoever they replaced Nisha with in TS will perform well. In NGX, Ammar isn't really the problem, though his aggressiveness is somewhat costing Nigma a lot and they can't seem to match the kid's tempo when it comes to mid game strats.
2744  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Basra Stadium Stampede (football match). on: January 20, 2023, 06:58:52 PM
Should be more on the organizer's fault because they should have anticipated that there will be fans who will really try and force to get in even though they don't have tickets. Beef up the security around the perimeter and tighten up entry points to make sure that they will not be able to get inside the stadium. Pretty sure they already realized that there are a lot of football fans in the area that would really love to watch the game, so maybe they could have set up large viewing screens outside of the stadiums too. What a sad day for Iraq and Oman, especially to those families of the dead.
2745  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is FTX going for a reopen? on: January 20, 2023, 06:12:47 PM
FTX already changed leadership, and AFAIK most of the funds that were embezzled were already recovered. I think this is a good development in a way that the funds from the users were returned, though not so much for FTX which has their name already tarnished by what SBF did. It will take more than a rebrand and change of leadership in order to get FTX up and running again and compete with the best exchanges out there. And then there's the US and Bahamian authorities that are seeking to take FTX down due to a lot of legal complaints against the said exchange..
2746  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: QUESTION: For Gambling Enthusiasts ❗❗ on: January 20, 2023, 05:02:44 PM
I would choose A. I really like playing alone and grinding it out solo, and I find myself consciously trying hard to be better against other people drains too much energy than I really like. But if I'm in the mood to go and be a try-hard, perhaps going to a PvP casino is the way to go. It's really fun to go against someone that has better skills than you because you'll be learning a lot in how they play and how they respond to pressure which you can definitely use the next time you'll be playing the same game.
2747  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's a good idea to just register on casino on: January 20, 2023, 04:23:07 PM
This isn't so bad at all. There are casinos that give out bonuses to their patrons that haven't logged in on a long time. Kind of like 'returning' bonus even though you haven't really deposited anything to the casino. I believe there are still some that does it, the last casino I remember doing this is Primedice way back years ago. Anyhow, it'll be a hassle to submit KYC documents on all of them, and I think those that they are sending bonuses to are only those who complied fully with those KYC submissions, so better be careful doing this.
2748  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue - WBC and WBO 122 lbs bout - May on: January 20, 2023, 03:28:23 PM
Wow, I just read about Inoue leaving his current weight division and now he gets this fight. It seems like this was already in the works months before this announcement, and Fulton being the perfect contender because the man isn't on the superstar level in the world of boxing, but he's relatively known by a lot in the boxing world due to his flawless record and above-average footwork. I don't see Fulton winning against Naoya Inoue if it comes to straight clashing, but if he uses his reach and footwork well, he may just win against the Japanese monster via decision. Although knowing Inoue, he probably would go for the kill early on and seal the deal.
2749  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 20, 2023, 02:19:50 PM
How about the Brooklyn Nets against the Phoenix Suns? That's the 4th consecutive loss of the Nets team without Kevin Durant.
I always thought it will be like the freedom for Kyrie as a lone star, take the lead and showcase how he can shoulder the team to win games.
I guess I am wrong or I expected too much from him.
Although, I have seen him trying in the last quarter of the game. Cut the lead from 20 to 5 while the Suns cannot find who will contribute in their offensive end. KD is expected to be back next month so this will be a long season for the Nets to try and win games as much as they can and keep their position in the 5th place of the Eastern Conference.
They have a game later against the Jazz, still a road game. Kyrie should stop his habit of not playing in back-to-back games. Nets badly need him.

Kyrie is like that glass cannon that needs repairing after every game. He's badly missed every game that he's not in because KD is not around, but he can't just help being absent when he wants too, and that is hurting the Nets so bad because no one is going to stand up and create something big for the team. Ben Simmons without his shooters isn't really an effective playmaker. Claxton also needs some helping hand in order to post points. They are completely paralyzed without these two superstars at their disposal, and that's a sad team to be with.
2750  Economy / Economics / Re: How is the cost of living in your country? on: January 19, 2023, 06:54:51 PM
Cost of living here in the Philippines is pretty cheap compared to other countries, but the salary and wages isn't on par with the price of goods. I live alone, have two jobs and live near the city. What I earn is more than enough for me and some other hobbies that I have. Total budget every month never exceeds $600, and that includes rent, bills, food, and gas for my car. However, the quality of the food I eat is a little compromised; I seldom have any greens on my food because of how crazy expensive they are here. Meat is somewhat cheap, and that is what's usually on the menu. Any other comforts in life, I can afford but choose not to because I'm trying to save and invest in order to retire early.
2751  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this asset or security on: January 19, 2023, 06:00:22 PM
That's what I find weird with XRP. It has the qualities of both an asset and a security, but it is neither of them. I just treat it as your normal cryptocurrency wherein I can buy and sell it, or hold it in hopes of getting price appreciation in the coming years. The company behind it, Ripple Labs, doesn't really do much about it anyway. They just push updates and that's it, not like some kind of a central bank that decreases or increases the amount of XRP circulating in the market.
2752  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: January 19, 2023, 05:20:03 PM
Anish Giri is easily one of the world's current top 10 in chess, although him winning against Carlsen in a classical match is literally unheard of for the past decade. This win may either mean that Carlsen is somewhat not focused or Giri just prepared extremely for this tournament. Even GM Ding Liren got his lost against Pragnanandhaa in a classical match. Imagine a 2684 elo GM beating a 2811 elo grandmaster in chess IN A CLASSICAL MATCH, IN A TOURNAMENT? That's not something you see every time.

But as always, Carlsen will claw back in this tournament and win this. This is classical chess, and he's ranked number 1 in it for all the valid reasons.

Ding Liren's defeat is probably even more surprising than Carlsen's defeat - after all, Carlsen gave up the chess crown, and Ding Liren will take part in the match for it. I think no matter how much Carlsen deceives himself that by giving up the crown he will be able to continue to dominate as he used to in regular tournaments, this is not true. When an athlete loses motivation, it affects the results in all tournaments. Perhaps Carlsen is already on his way out of the top 1.

And what a way to end it, if ever. It would be best if he gets that 2900 rating first before he calls it quits. He's still got a lot of time ahead of him, and he's obviously getting even better as time passes. Sadly, if you stay too long at the top and can't meet someone who's worthy of being serious, you'll eventually lose the drive to continue doing what you do best and I guess that's what's happening with Magnus now. But yeah, I'm still hoping that he reaches the elusive 2900 before he quits chess for good, otherwise it will be a long climb for Ding Liren before he gets that rating.
2753  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: January 19, 2023, 04:38:57 PM
Carlsen is clearly not doing well this tournament. The match he won against jet talent from Germany Keymer was still of a high level, but against Giri he took quite a beating. Incidentally, you should not underestimate Giri, who has been among the best 10 players in the world for years and years, so on a bad day you can easily lose to it. We shouldn't write Carlsen off right away. He has 2 out of 4 but this tournament is very long, 13 rounds in total. De Uzbeek has mixed in the world top in a year and is now shared at the top with Caruana and Giri. Today the gentlemen had a rest day, tomorrow they can go again. Carlsen will really have to win to start his catch-up race. I can see Carlsen eventually becoming first, he is normally so much better than the rest and has also won this tournament several times.

BLAST Premier Spring Groups starts this day. I'm surprised that Autimatic is still playing CS:GO even though he retired in 2021. I guess his career in Valorant is very short-lived. That or he's not really fit for the playstyle in Valorant. He still kinda has his aim at CS:GO but playing Valorant must have hurt his game sense a lot.

Anyway, Vitality @ 1.61 seems to be a good pick, though still quite unsure of how both teams will perform after a few weeks break.

Here's to hoping that Luka won't end up demanding a lot from the management and getting all the attention get up to his head. He's still getting better each time, and we haven't seen prime Luka Doncic yet. Hopefully the Mavs management take advantage of their current position while Luca is still happy with the current setup and build the team around him with better teammates that has the offensive power and can make plays for him as well. The man also needs to be more active in terms of leadership in order to have his team motivated to play instead of just relying on himself to win games for the team.

Not sure if he is happy or not, he is still very young and probably not demanding any at this point. But there will be a time that he might ask Cuban to surround him with better role players, who can really help and contribute not just playing just for the sake of being in the team.

He already shows that he can carry the team, but it's not always that he will have to do that because his body can only take so much in the grueling 82 games and then we have the playoff.

Asking for better teammates isn't really that much of a demand, especially if that is for the benefit of the whole franchise and not just a single player that is carrying the team on his back. Pretty sure Cuban knows that in order to win games, you need to have a good team that relies with one another, and not just one single player. Luka Doncic, while a beast in the court, is still a human after all. The Mavs wouldn't want this young talent to be fed up and leave them for a better deal, otherwise that will be a big blow to the franchise that Luka is trying to rebuild with his highlight reel performances.
2756  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Sportsbet.io took my money on: January 19, 2023, 01:20:41 PM
Yea. Same exact amount. Just replaced the fee. I explained everything to them and was truthful throughout the proccess. I even went through the KYC proccess and passed that. They first accused me of multiaccounting. They accused me of 5 accounts, 4 of which I knew absolutly nothing about. The fifth one is my brothers account. Who is the person that told me to  switch sportsbooks. After that accusation was done they accused me of doublespending. I was 100 percent truthful throughout the KYC proccess.

What I don't understand is why they would ban you of double-spending if both transactions are directed to their addresses anyway? That doesn't make a lot of sense. I have read your new post regarding this issue and it seems that they are no longer responding to your concerns. I guess the only thing that you can do now is wait since you already notified one of their reps here in the forum, and hopefully get an answer that is fair and just to you. Sending them a flurry of messages would likely just annoy them, so maybe just wait before you send another one.
2757  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 19, 2023, 10:44:08 AM
The Mavericks are building a team around him so he has the power to demand the whole management to be active in trades. He's like Le-GM Version 2.0 now. Kidding Cheesy.

He will eventually become like LeBron who will have a huge influence inside the management.
I think it's too early for that for his career to bring a demand like that, he has not proven anything yet, like carrying his team to the finals, like what LeBron did in 07, until he realized he's not getting any help from the Cavs management.
The Mavs are in a better spot right now. Luka just need to make his teammates getting involved more offensively.

It seems that there's no hope for Team Secret, what a poor result coming from them with a new mid - Boom. And it seems that we're going to see the first team to be eliminated because there are only 3 matches left for them. You're doing a good job with these bets.
Most likely 2 series left since I doubt Team Secret would have a chance against Tundra tomorrow. They're still not guaranteed to get relegated though since ITB is still struggling to pull away from the bottom of the table and all it takes is one win for Team Secret and Team Nigma to force a tiebreaker.
Yeah, if they lose against Tundra tomorrow, the chances of being outside the eliminating teams will be lower. Too poor for Team Secret this DPC season and they have to come up with another strategy and plan for their comeback for the next DPC tournament or major and minor tournaments.

I won't be expecting Secret to pull through. They're literally in shambles, and it seems like even Puppey has already lost motivation to play for this season's DPC. It might be a wrong move to pick up Boom because the guy cannot do anything when faced against Tier 1 teams. Even though this is too early to call out things, the move is slowly costing Team Secret a lot.

I've just noticed that Team Aster can relax now as they are guaranteed in the Lima major. How it did happened that they're already qualified for the Lima major?

They secured enough points and wins to be able to receive an invite to the Major. Considering that PSG.LGD isn't performing that great, and other Chinese powerhouse teams didn't post that much impressive results as well, Team Aster's invite remains a no-contest up to now. They haven't dropped a series yet I believe, so there's that too.
2759  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How real is the winnings? on: January 18, 2023, 11:40:16 PM
You can try them out and see for yourself. But if they ask for your personal info then you know what to do next. Some of these aren't really gambling apps; if you're familiar with get-paid-to websites then some of those that you're mentioning might just be like those ones which ask you to download something and try it out before getting paid. They're not necessarily gambling, they literally asked you to do a job and you get paid pennies for it.

As for actual gambling apps with in-app purchases, always go and download it directly from official sources such as Playstore or App store, so when the developer decides to run, you can contest for a refund on your purchases and get your money back.
2760  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: January 18, 2023, 06:39:53 PM
Team Liquid is really putting up great performances but the bookies know it and odds on them are often very low. When they are playing against a bit weaker opponents like today, there is simply no value in playing on them.

Even -1.5 lines on Team Liquid isn't really that much juice and it's not worth risking your bet. While they are on fire right now, their value lies when they're against good teams. They can be a good parlay leg though if you really want to get something off of them while they are getting most of the wins at the start of this DPC Season. Outright bets, just don't bet on them if they're against relatively unknown/weaker teams and you're gold.
