2741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Alex Jones is pro-BTC, says his store will begin to accept as payment... on: August 05, 2014, 07:29:26 PM
So I'm unable to watch the video right now, I'll get that confession out there.

Is Alex Jones supportive of Bitcoin? Or is he just announcing he'll accept it as payment?

Those are two different distinctions - Anyone who's in the business of making money should be accepting Bitcoin. It's so easy to accept payment and store it or convert as you deem necessary. If he's actually becoming a supporter of Bitcoin I'd be very interested to hear his comments and his take on it all.
2742  Economy / Collectibles / Re: 🌟🌟 [WTS] Casascius 0.1 Silver ANACS Graded - [Prices Lowered] 🌟🌟 on: August 05, 2014, 06:57:28 PM
Hey bithalo, have you been selling these at the prices listed or have you been working out other deals?
2743  Economy / Goods / Re: How many dollars over spot do you think is fair for Silver Shot? on: August 05, 2014, 05:25:59 AM
5% over spot is appropriate if you're selling to a buyer who is just buying silver. That's what the local coin shops will charge.

I'd look for some one who's going to find extreme collector or novelty value in the fact that it's silver shot. That person may be willing to pay more of a premium. Is silver shot rare? Do they make it everywhere? If not you may be in luck and I'd look to gun collectors, gun shows or shops for buyers - maybe not the owners but the collectors that hang out in those places.

Good luck and let us know how you do.
2744  Economy / Economics / Re: Dollar coming to an end on: August 05, 2014, 05:19:13 AM
What currency would take its place immediately?

I know BTC works for us but the World's governments aren't going to just adopt it...
2745  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When Buying Groceries...would you use BTC, GOOG or USD...? on: August 05, 2014, 12:44:24 AM
USD? Like 100% of the world uses USD for fiat, right?

Are you sure? The suspense is killing me...what's it going to be? BTC, GOOG, or USD?
2746  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When Buying Groceries...would you use BTC, GOOG or USD...? on: August 05, 2014, 12:31:33 AM
If GOOG was appreciating as much as Bitcoin every year and you could buy things with it, why would you hold fiat?

If you convert every paycheck to bitcoins then that money appreciates before you spend it.

If you do not convert every paycheck then that fiat just loses value until you spend it.

What about the last year? BTC is down over 50% (to USD) from it's high mark within the last 12 months. When you change the size of the frame the picture looks a bit different.
2747  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] When Buying Groceries...would you use BTC, GOOG or USD...? on: August 05, 2014, 12:24:22 AM

There is no doubt that the ecosystem is growing.  Bitcoin Venture Capital is soaring at rates not seen since the Internet Angel boom in 1994.

Can you cite any sources to support your claim that VC interest is "soaring at rates not seen since 1994"?
2748  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] When Buying Groceries...would you use BTC, GOOG or USD...? on: August 05, 2014, 12:21:30 AM
A new question for the OP - what makes you think a Bitcoin has a future comparable to Google's past performance?

Using Bitcoin as purely an investment undermines the original purpose of Bitcoin, no? It's a currency to be spent for goods and services. As this spending increases the price volatility should settle and as more coins are mined (and supply goes up) the price to USD should go down, right?
2749  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin on Jeopardy! on: August 04, 2014, 09:56:41 PM
I may start watching Jeopardy again!

The wager is kind of an insult if it isn't in BTC, am I right?
2750  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin on Jeopardy! on: August 04, 2014, 09:54:35 PM
Bitcoin was just one of the clues on Jeoprody! Now you know it's finally made it!

Why did you write in your edit when you can just edit a post without any time stamp or issue?
2751  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What bitcoin myth you want to see us bust next? on: August 04, 2014, 09:41:44 PM
I'd love to see you examine the myth that bitcoin will "absolutely, definitely, double, triple, exponentially increase in value to the USD".

Too may people talk about BTC definitely going up in value with absolutely zero math or logic to back it up.

I'm bullish on BTC and I'm glad others are too, but I don't have any fact for it...do you guys have any facts or analysis you can share with the rest of us?

Thanks.

Not divulging your activity?  What good is your space if it doesn't get the renter any traffic?
2753  Other / Politics & Society / Re: GOP rep says Pelosi ‘visibly shaken’ during dust-up on House floor... on: August 04, 2014, 09:09:10 PM
It's awful that these "representatives" end up being the voice of a party or a state or the people simply. NONE of them were elected by the majority of the party or the state (except Senators) or the people. Pelosi and Boehner were elected to office by fewer than 300,000 voters. That's it! Find 300,000 votes and then make friends with your peers in the halls of congress and you can be the leader, the voice, of these significantly influential groups of government leaders.

It's almost the antithesis of democracy, given that a significant majority of voters never elected Boehner or Pelosi into office.
2754  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: mining with smartphone on: August 04, 2014, 09:02:09 PM
Not possible at all. People, this is like using a straw, trying to drain the Pacific Ocean! Really, run the numbers... Sure, this is the beginners forum, but it still amazes me how people can even start to believe that mining with a phone could be profitable at all.

What amazes me is how some people think theyre better than others simply because they know more about certain things.  If everyone tried doing that, everyone would be dead from dehydration, too much salt.  And plus its not just pacific ocean youd be drinking cause its connected to all other oceans and seas.

Yeah, but I don't believe you've actually run the numbers - show me the numbers, damnit. Run them! NOW!

I hope you're joking about the first part of your response because the drain the ocean analogy is a pretty good one. (And obviously accurate.)
2755  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What should I do with over $4-5 worth in BTC? on: August 04, 2014, 08:57:00 PM
I just invested about $2 worth of bitcoin at Cryptostocks.com. I don't really expect anything but at least I can pretend to invest instead of watching your wallet NOT get any transactions ever....

Stick around for some time in this forum, your wallet will witness some action.  Smiley

What kind of action are you talking about? What have you witnessed?

2756  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Should Bitcoin Be Regulated? on: August 04, 2014, 08:55:05 PM
This is a trick question, right?

What does regulation mean? Ha, there should be very little regulation...let the community regulated it based on their actions not a set of by-laws and infrastructure.
2757  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The most Overused Words in Bitcoin History on: August 04, 2014, 08:51:17 PM
Faucet

HODL

eCurrency

Alt (anything)

So we can all agree that we really need to think out of the box to come up with some new terminology, some good jargon. Let's start with the low hanging fruit and then socialize the favorites at a high-level. Because at the end of the day, language is everything, we don't want people to pump and dump this thing, we want people to embrace it in a symbiotic relationship. Ya dig? Ibid.
2758  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just Sold $1k worth of Bitcoins to... a Black Guy (gasp) on: August 04, 2014, 08:48:20 PM
Abercrombie sounds pretty racist, from all angles. People are actually entertaining this guy's commentary? We all just got dumber....let's let this thread die!
2759  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Need advice on starting a Bitcoin ONLY company. on: August 04, 2014, 08:45:07 PM
You may have a hard time getting real advice in this public forum. Governments could see any advice that's given to you as participation in any "wrong doing" they see you involved, that is if your business were to take off.

Good luck with it.
2760  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC .com - SOLD - $1,000,000 on: August 04, 2014, 08:42:38 PM
Squatting on domain names should be outlawed. All it does is stifle innovation, which in turn hurts the community.

I wish there were an effective way for the community to protest or embargo domain hosting companies that squat on domain names.
