Just need an Android wallet so we can use those barcodes.

Is there really an ASIC for scrypt-N?

http://www.coindesk.com/mining-roundup-mineral-oil-bitmain-scrypt-n-mining/

Quote
Canada-based Flow Technology is focusing on scrypt – and also scrypt-n, which has been supposedly ASIC-resistant. The company’s $7,900 rack-mount Liliac unit is expected to hash at 300MH/s at 1.8W per megahash. The units are scheduled to start shipping in Q3 of 2014.

Or is this another pre-order scam guys that say they can do something, take orders then figure out if they can do it?

It's nonsense. scrypt-n's main selling point is ASIC resistance, and they are right about it. Change N=11 to N=12, render any existing ASICs useless. It'll take the VTC devs about a minute.

(Suddenly you need double the on-die RAM.)

"And given the network’s P2P nature, it is almost impossible to shut down. There is no central server that can be shut off since DarkWallet’s features are decentralized and its anonymous users i.e. nodes are spread out across the globe. "

Author is seriously confused.

Call out to the Darkcoin regulars for some help with the latest draft media release: https://darkcointalk.org/threads/rc2-media-release.662/

EDIT: Not sure if I have the development schedule correct. Could someone check over it?

I'm not cool enough to post on that thread Sad.

My suggestions:

http://pastebin.com/La2QGfQD

http://pastebin.com/diff.php?i=La2QGfQD

Edit: "In return for providing this service," in paragraph 2 (or p3 if you count the headline) should be "In return for providing these services,"
Me neither.

I assume the 100DRK limit will also be lifted at some point - perhaps mention should be made of that?

Perhaps here: "Following the completion of RC3, experts will be engaged to inspect the DarkSend code and, once confirmed, DarkSend will become open source and the 1000 DRK limit will be removed." - or words to that effect, assuming my assumption is correct.

the 1000 limit will probably not be removed ever

Dev has been quite explicit about not removing the limit. The idea of the 1000 DRK is that it has to be expensive to have a masternode. They are important for the network and everybody running one should take it very seriously.
I was talking about the limit on transaction size, nothing to do with masternodes. Only being able to darksend 1000 DRK at a time... why? Seems like a pointless restriction that will turn off a lot of potential users. In fact it would make DRK basically useless for exactly the kind of investors and users we need most.

I'm sorry, I missread it Smiley

As for the limit, you can always make a lot of 1000 transactions. It is not optimal, but it is not that bad.
Are you kidding? Big money is going to see that and laugh at us. Unless there is some insurmountable technical reason, it should go, ASAP.

How is this even possible? I thought the distributed blockchain existed to prevent anyone tampering with it - corrupt versions should get rejected by the network...  Huh

It's not corrupted or "tampered with", it's functioning as intended.

As an example, think about a Bitcoin address, which can be essentially any combination of numbers and letters.  If I wanted to send bitcoins to 1thelonecroutonXXXXXXX35Y2 then I could do so.  (Although it would be impossible to spend them from this address.)  Now instead of "thelonecrouton", put some text that is the "signature" for a well-known virus.  This is basically what happened.  (Although it might not have been an address, since there are other parts of Bitcoin transactions where you can put arbitrary text.) It is a pretty good prank, actually Smiley
Ah, I see, thanks.

Mintpal needs to add LTC to DRK for the next few days !!

LTC will crumble as people convert. Let them hear about it guys.

Guys contact Mintpal and Cryptsy to add LTC -> DRK

Also get ready for rejects from BTC-E trollbox to swamp this thread and give you investment decisions as they are world renowned philanthropists like cryptohunter, ymer, r0ach and the other 2 dogs who are perennial Darkcoin fans.

Cryptohunter, Iloveanoncoin, etc, are just trolls. read their post history, they're bagholders for other coins, realized they should of been in dark, and are now enraged.

And cryptohunter wrote the post #5 of this thread. He could have been a millionaire by now lol

i'm sure that hurts a lot  Grin

I just thought of something!

If, in the future, we hear ASICs are being made for x11, we should switch to sha256!  Because everyone has ASICs for those now, and if we do that before x11 ASICs are made, we could avoid having those manufacturing companies and distributors rape our coin!

It's one possibility of f*ing their disreputable business practices and actions!
This is close to genius. In fact you could have the wallet check you've got at least one $5 USB block eruptor running before allowing you access. Forced decentralisation!  Wink

(I am not seriously advocating this, there are clearly flaws in the plan, but it's an interesting avenue of thought.)

I din't follow DRK for a few weeks, I have send drk to Poloniex today from my wallet 0.9.1.2 and never appear on exchange. ?

This question is asked every page/every few pages.
Maybe you should read every page/every few pages.

We really need a wallet auto-update feature, or at least a, "Hey! You need to update! Go HERE!" popup. It's a small amount of work for anyone familiar with the code and it would save countless hours of user and support frustration.

Seems clear to me that an autoupdating wallet would be an increasingly good idea, given the near-term upcoming changes and the long-term evolution of Darkcoin. Many posts today have been from users who can't seem to find the latest wallet and are having problems as a result.

With more widespread adoption, a self-updating wallet is going to be a must.

I appreciate that the boss is working on all kinds of good technical stuff, but usability needs a bit of consideration too. Grannies, remember? If the grannies can and are using it, the rest will follow.

so explain to me again why the volume is going to drop then?
Because this is just a spike of interest, it has to calm some day. Look at the volume of BTC these days compared to the volume before.
I doubt we've hit 1% yet of the interest we're going to.

said it @0.005 0.006 to 0.015 .. stop now ? Smiley

it's not gonna pass the price 0.02 btc

tomorrow it's gonna fell to 0.005 btc, then it'll be 0.001 ~0.003

blablabla you just want to rebuy at lower prices that's all Smiley
I dont think that's it, some people just fall apart in drooling rage when others succeed. I doubt these clowns have a single BTC between them to buy anything, whatever they once had they lost on shitcoins.

drk end price at 0.025
Today? I don't know. But on the 25th, masternode payments, another smooth upgrade, no fuss... 0.04 will be a memory.

Been watching dunderheads on mintpal sell under the current buy price, been happening all day.  Huh  Doesn't look like some weird bot manouevre, unless bots have gotten really weird.
2779  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: May 15, 2014, 03:55:53 PM
So what stops the power that be buying all the nodes? Are you implying then aren't billonaires out there that couldn't do it?
Apart from the fact it would drive the price so high they couldn't print the fiat fast enough, stubborn old arseholes like me.

What fiat? What matters is they would have control of the whole thing, so privacy is over.
The question was about buying the nodes. Implicitly, money would be involved.  Huh
Attacking/subverting nodes or coercing node ops is a different argument.
2780  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | ASIC Resistant on: May 15, 2014, 03:30:06 PM
DRK does look interesting but most of us should know a bubble when we see one now. Only a matter of time until someone wants to cash out at 5x what they bought at. Just which big holder is going to crash the market first, leaving other holders, holding until next time.

You're not seeing a bubble, you've been conditioned to think that way by dealing with valueless garbage for so long. Any big sells are going to get eaten straight up, price will hold and continue to rise because intelligent investors and others to whom the utility of DarkSend appeals want in.

Maybe THEY are buying up all the DRK now!

Been happening for some time. Because they want to use it, like anyone else who cares about their privacy.
