2761  Economy / Economics / Re: We are not out of the woods yet on: January 18, 2023, 05:57:05 PM
Pretty sure folks that bought a few weeks ago would have already sold some of their stash in hopes that this recent climb to $21k would go back down sub $20k again. Also, I think most of the people who have been in the bitcoin game for years know that a few thousand increase in price in such a short span of time isn't something really worth celebrating. It is something, yes, but we have seen this countless of times before, and those who didn't learn from the previous runs will surely have a lot of things going for them.
2762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Future of NFT on: January 18, 2023, 05:31:23 PM
NFTs are money-grabbing opportunities created by the elite to make more money out of other people who are looking to make money collecting them. While there are some truly unique NFT pieces that have surfaced, most are still a rehash of one idea hoping to milk the hype created from it. Then again, different strokes for different folks. A lot of people see NFTs as something that they can work with and something that they can make money off of, so I guess I'll just let them be. After all, with all the people who are still willing to buy and sell NFT collectibles, it seems that the market for NFTs will not be gone any time soon.
2763  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 25 in Saudi Arabia on: January 18, 2023, 03:43:44 PM
I wouldn't say Tommy is someone whom can consider a "capable" boxer because of his record. Most of his wins are against mediocre fighters at best with very poor win-loss ratio with the exception of Daniel Bocianski. I think this fight, we know which way it will go: obviously Jake's. Seeing Tommy's previous fights, he doesn't really focus on the defense and always go to the offense instead, so that's one department that he needs to work on as Jake is slowly becoming a somewhat well-rounded boxer through his previous bouts.

Tommy has a pretty much standard padded record for an up-and-comer. You don't go into the big fights without building yourself up first just like Jake has been doing. Personally I think this is a pretty well rounded fight and the biggest test for both of them. I don't see a knock-out and my money is on it going the distance. The biggest thing for me is it could end Tommy's boxing career before it's even started if he loses. I'm sure he's getting a life changing amount of money and will just pivot into being a social media star or something so it won't be too much of a loss but that embarrassment of losing to a YouTuber will certainly sting and it will never leave him.

A win-win situation for Tommy either way, then. Guy's obviously not born to be a boxer unlike his siblings and his father. Has a weak chin, doesn't have that fighter instinct, and punches weak and low for most of the time. If ever, he can use the money that he'll get from this fight (if it pushes through) to start a podcast or create videos for social media and just chase stardom. After all he already has the experience in the entertainment industry and he can just use this fight as a leverage to further just that.

I mean, just look at his past opponents. One guy even has 100+ losses with only 10+ wins! How can you even call that a proper and respectable win?
2764  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: F1 Formula Sports Racing - Sportsbet.io promotions & discussion thread on: January 18, 2023, 01:43:42 PM
This is some good news for those who watched any of the races last season as those were a testimony for what was just done.

FIA appoints Steve Nielsen as sporting director to help fix race-management issues
https://www.skysports.com/f1/news/12040/12789285/formula-1-fia-appoints-steve-nielsen-as-sporting-director-to-help-fix-race-management-issues
"FIA appoints Steve Nielsen as sporting director in raft of changes to management structure; Nielsen will oversee race management after a number of issues in recent seasons, including the controversial ending to the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as Max Verstappen beat Lewis Hamilton"
"Then-F1 race director Michael Masi's failure to correctly apply the rules while the safety car was in operation allowed Max Verstappen to overtake Lewis Hamilton and beat the Briton to the world championship."

This is an important change with anybody that is an F1 fan would agree this was needed with all the controversy Masi's calls caused in 2022.

Very timely and a much needed change IMO. Though we cannot discredit Max's grit during the the Abu Dhabi grand prix, but still the outcome would have been different if Max wasn't allowed to overtake Hamilton. Masi may not have favored anyone during the season, but his calls were rather questionable that a lot of F1 fans were displeased with the decision and even went so far that F1 with Masi is just going downhill from that incident.
2765  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambler Loses 1.4 million USD in a bet with lower than 1.01 odds! on: January 18, 2023, 12:44:46 PM
Damn, that must have been gut-wrenching. The lowest odds I think that is still worth the bet is 1.3, and anything past that is just 'dangerous' territory or simply not worth it to bet at all. What more a 1.008 chance? Imagine just trying to collect $11k+ dollars for a bet, only to lose $1.4 million instead. Dude thought that it was an easy 11 grand to sweep, just goes to show that there is no such thing as easy money in sports betting.

I personally would have just used a few thousands and bet live and get more or less the same result. Props to the Chargers for making that epic comeback, must have been sweet collecting the tears of the fans and the bets of the gamblers Cheesy
2766  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 18, 2023, 11:00:28 AM
What are they thinking? is this their way to keep everything balanced?  Cheesy Grin

Ja Morant is surely one of a kind and the fans are always looking forward to seeing him dunk on someone every time he plays. Thankfully he always has been negative and we can see more of his amazing dunks in the future. Though they are different from Vince Carter, I'm glad I'm seeing in the NBA who can actually dunk without hesitation whenever he got the chance. He really needs to do more of this because he will miss it when he gets old as Vince does.

I think at this point they are just fucking with Ja Morant Grin Imagine getting drug tested almost every game just to turn out negative. They really want to catch this man red-handed, but unfortunately all of his plays in the highlight reel are natural and due to his insane talent. At this point, Grizzlies must already file a complaint against this nonsense. They're trying to single out this man for drug usage and every time they test him they're not finding anything. How is that not discriminatory in any way?
2767  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: January 18, 2023, 09:58:39 AM
So Giannis is still not playing against the Raptors, but it looks like they are doing good with Holiday leading, although a lot of minutes still, we are still in the second quarter.

Initially I don't want to bet on this game, but what the heck, I took the Raptors -1.5 above 2.xx odds, attractive to me. So let's see how far the Bucks can extend their lead with Giannis.

Holiday is very hot yesterday and he really stepped-up in the absence of Antetokounmpo with a lot of great support from Grayson Allen and Brook Lopez. Fred VanVleet posted 39 points on the side of the Raptors, but unfortunately that wasn't enough to suppress the firepower of the Bucks. I wouldn't blame you if you took Raptors -1.5 because Giannis is out. Always such a trap team to bet on just because of a single player Cheesy

Everyone bet on Brooklyn, but they lost. If I had bet last night, I would have bet on Brooklyn.
I forgot to bet last night Smiley Grin

Good thing you forgot to, because you'll be extremely disappointed if you bet on Brooklyn. Lots of traps on those games that I'm glad I passed and just slept Cheesy Even I wanted to bet on Clippers against 76ers, but luckily I didn't because Embiid just downed 41 points and almost double-double stats.
2768  Economy / Gambling / Re: ( 1xbit. 56 days since 1xbit scammed me for 1500 dollars ) resolved on: January 18, 2023, 09:26:30 AM
1xbit and 1xbet are two different entities, and up until now I'm surprised someone is getting scammed by 1xbit? They are quite active here in the forum trying to market their platform in every way possible, and if their support already replied to you and you still haven't got your money or any progression on your case, then it's just an indication that they want you to be pacified first and not really resolve your problem. Even if you bombard them with posts like this here in this board, they wouldn't really care. They already developed a thick skin for scamming people and they're great at it lol
2769  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [NEWS] - $9 BILLION EUROPEAN DIGITAL BANK N26 ENABLES BITCOIN TRADING on: January 17, 2023, 11:59:22 PM
Iirc they already did this thing once with Paypal, and it was not refeived well. How would you market that you're allowing bitcoin trades when users can't take out what they bought from you? I don't think that they even have bitcoins that they're holding to facilitate these trading actions. At best, it may just be APIs and such that gets the price real time and then they take it from there. Entities not allowing bitcoin to be taken out of their custody after "buying" them aren't really selling you bitcoins but shares of worthless air. They can easily do a rug pull any time and you haven't got anything against them because you won't be able to give proof that you have your money with them.
2770  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto exchanges market affected by ICOs? on: January 17, 2023, 11:50:32 PM
ICOs were the bread and butter of some exchanges because they are being paid upfront to host it. It affected them positively although for sure, a lot of investors and traders were burned to these marketing strategies because these ICOs usually are gone after a few weeks. That's why there was an intense ban on ICOs past 2017 due to the damage they brought to the crypto economy and to a lot of investors as well. Exchanges side, positive; everything else, negative.
2771  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is it possible to delivered or received goods by keeping the location secret?! on: January 17, 2023, 11:29:16 PM
Ever heard of post offices and virtual offices? They still exist, and that's how these people get their items without really having to divulge much of their physical location. It's way easier to say that they can drop off the items one town away from you and just drive to there and get your package rather than let someone know where you are given the nature of cryptocurrencies. You don't want people snooping about your business simply because you gave them too much information.

If you have a very good friend who lives nearby, you can also send the package to him. Of course, you should ask him beforehand if that's okay. So you can order or receive something anonymously. That's how I do it sometimes and I don't have to give my real address and name. This method should only be used if you don't want to order anything illegal.  Wink

I wouldn't do this tbh. You're putting your friend in probable danger by giving his information to people you don't know. What if the one you transacted with has ulterior motives and is just waiting to receive the right information before making a move? Roll Eyes Better be hypervigilant and stay safe, and protect other people too while keeping yourself private.
2772  Economy / Economics / Re: The Growth of cryptocurrency over foreign currency. on: January 17, 2023, 11:12:46 PM
No matter how much growth crypto experience over fiat, the fact remains that it's still not a preferable currency for nationwide use because buying and selling isn't the only domestic use of currencies. You also have lending, credits, and investments among other things. Bitcoin does all of this, but how can you control its supply in the market if there is an overflow of it when you cannot really change its specifications at all?

Price and value alone of one thing isn't enough reason for people to use it as a currency. It has to be something more than that unfortunately. And even though bitcoin and crypto posted huge gains over the past decade, you can't really do much about them but use it for buying, selling, and speculation.
2773  Economy / Economics / Re: Could this be a ploy by Saudi Arabia to explore the crypto market ? on: January 17, 2023, 10:38:51 PM
I think they just realize that the USD will not be reliable forever, hence they are open to accept other national currencies for their foreign trades, and that's not a bad thing if you're looking to diversify the currencies you hold for a better chance against future economic meltdowns. But this does not necessarily mean that they're keen in using crypto. These oil states can honestly last for a couple more decades hoarding a lot of wealth in exchange for their oil, and they could shift into other source of wealth before then, and I don't see bitcoin or any other crypto fulfilling that goal for them honestly.
2774  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 10 Biggest U.S Lottery Jackpots Ever...(Until Now) on: January 17, 2023, 04:07:34 PM
I don't think casinos will have deep enough pockets to pay wins that will reach billions. The most successful casino by revenue only gets $1.6 billion estimate per year, so I doubt they'd be fool enough to let potential winnings go over what they post in a year. At best, maybe you'll see $50 - $100 million wins in a single night in casinos, but definitely wouldn't reach Powerball or lottery-level prizes due to obvious reasons.

And to think that the government keeps 1/4th of the total winnings on lotteries, I think it's not so bad for them to give out these amounts every now and then.

2776  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you handle your losses on: January 17, 2023, 03:06:43 PM
How do I handle my losses? Simple, accept the losses and do not try to recover the losses in the next gambling session.
Means that every single session should be a new session without thinking of revenge to take back what I've lost previously.
Anyway I'm interested the point of "to avoid greedy friends" because some of my friends are greedy and sometime I do greedy as well.
For me, I will not be influenced by greedy friends, I'll just ignore them if they tell me something that I do not want to do.

They say that the people who keep track of sheep are really quiet people and those who keep track of some more aggressive animals are aggressive as persons. With this analogy I want to say that the human nature can be influenced just like in the above example and despite you saying you will ignore your friends, with the passing of time if you stay with greedy friends it is only natural for you to become greedy. The best to do in such situation is to play alone at the comfort of your home fully relaxed and enjoy the sessions, this way you will forget about such friends.

"Tell me who your friends are and I'll tell you who you are."

Kinda goes like that IIRC. Your environment influences you in ways that you do not even fully recognize because you are busy doing your thing with your friends. Only then would you recognize this once you are no longer associated with your friends, or you have shifted your attention into another activity completely unrelated to what you were previously doing.

I personally try to avoid friends that are degenerate gamblers, even though I am gambling myself. They do not have any self-control, and once I see them long enough to think that it's "okay" what they're doing, I'll be applying that to myself and I'll slowly slide down to degeneracy.
2777  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I turned over $1.344M with Sportsbet.com - https://imgur.com/a/gFB14gl on: January 17, 2023, 10:48:00 AM
It's not the money. A few hundred dollars won't make a difference to my life. It's the fact that I bet more in one week then most people do in a year and they don't appreciate loyalty. It's funny because when I changed to a different sportsbook a few years ago they lured me back by offering a lot of bonuses and then stopped them once they thought I would stay. I won't be staying this time, they can go to hell.

If it's funny to you then why don't you have a laugh and go where you're appreciated instead of hating on them in a forum post? With that much money and a positive account balance you could be doing so many more productive things at this point but for some unknown reason you prefer this rant.

I believe you and it's actually a bit dangerous that you're ready to put so much money on the line, but if you're making a profit then maybe you're just good and can keep this up. I doubt it, but I hope you'll make it.

I guess you'll know how exactly it feels when you're in the spot that OP is in. I see no hate in his posts so far, and most of what he said in this forum is utter disappointment on the bookie and that's it. If you turned over a million dollars for a gambling platform, don't you think it's just fair that they give some kind of RTP percentage of at least 1%? Or even just some free bets just to show the casino's appreciation of your business?

Anyway, OP seems to have the money to spend and can somehow weather the storm if he takes some bad beats. Doesn't seem to be a degenerate gambler too, but just wants to maximize the $$$ that he's spending and that's totally agreeable.
2778  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESports betting -CS:GO, DOTA 2, LOL, Valorant - Sportsbet.io discussion thread on: January 17, 2023, 10:13:05 AM
ITB's teamfight dynamics is extremely impressive. Down by almost 20k in game 3 but they make Tundra look like they're far ahead in items and literally just everything. Great usage and timing of skills from ITB, and this version of Tundra post-TI seems to be scrambling to get their shit together especially on teamfights. Really hard to win against a Naga pick with Lesh being the most reliable wave clear, and you can't really expose this hero on the lane most of the time because you need him to be in team fights, otherwise any fight you'll be taking without the Lesh is a suicide mission.

29K lead and they just got the Rosh, this game will definitely be Tundra. Credit to ITB for giving a good fight even when they are down most of the time in Game 3. Their high-ground defense is awesome. Tundra is still having a hard time pushing the high ground even with the lead they have. Given more time, ITB will be a real threat to WEU teams. Their dynamics, as you said, is impressive and would probably improve more as the DPC season progresses.

Crazy that a 6-slotted Naga siren and a Scythe Tidehunter cannot crack that high ground defense early on against a Lesh without the help of a shard.

ITB will surely mature into a more developed team if they continue joining Tier 2 tournaments. As of late, they're only exposed against tier 3 teams and IMO that's not enough training ground for them to really hone their skills. But individually, they really have a good understanding of Dota, they just have to push through with what they know and keep on grinding.

It seems like all the noise already reduced to nothingness. Haven't really read anything about it today, which is kinda weird because this is DPC and people should make a fuss about it given that it's a big thing. Quite disappointed with Valve for not being proactive in the situation really.
I'm guessing the evidence that was given to Valve wasn't enough to determine if they were actually cheating even though there were hints already. At least they're still keeping up their level of play though, and managed to beat XG a few days ago.

Maybe. That or Valve is still under investigating everything on the client side. When it comes to throwing matches, they can easily figure those out, but it's weird when it comes to cheating allegations they can't really give a fast and definite answer to the allegations. If I were Valve, I will be releasing a statement as soon as I know whether a team cheated or not.

Riki is the new meta it seems! It's been so damn long for this hero to finally shine again and this patch , if you have time in weekend to play a game with Riki , please do , it's mega fun! No wonder why , even Tundra has strategies involving Riki and they turned the game around in their favor last night , as they were down 1-0 , picked Riki twice and won by 2-1.

Hah! Been spamming Riki for a week now as pos 4 and I can say that early shard to get the sleeping dart is something cool. It helps you land perfect timings and disable enemies for 4 (or 5?) seconds while the rest of your team cleans up the team fight. A really great support hero this patch and it's a good thing that they're now realizing its viability in high level games.
2779  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anybody else confused by the dead-coins pump ? on: January 16, 2023, 11:59:02 PM
Dead coins being pumped and dumped every now and then is nothing new. A lot of whales have been buying and selling these coins in order to generate fake volume before they call that something is happening, and then sell it to unknowing people. Usually they time it every time bitcoin is on rally mode, so as not to make it as if it's something artificial and that a lot of people will also buy in to the trap.

The only problem you would have is: you didn't buy when you first noticed something, and now you're regretting it somewhat.
2780  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: January 16, 2023, 11:50:40 PM
After the last matches, I was convinced. Denver plays very well even without Jokić. I think they are the undisputed favorites on the West side. Memphis is also doing very well, but other teams are far behind them.
Boston is also doing incredible work in the East. I think they are ready for the championship this year mentally. Tatum, Brown and Smart play very well and have reduced the errors from last season.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see the Denver vs. Boston final this year. In fact, this would be the most logical choice for long-term betting. Of course, I couldn't see which sites give this bet and at what odds. If odds are worth playing, it can be tried.

Too early to call Denver as the winners of the West. There are still tons of competitors that would really love to be on the finals and get that ring. Also, the Nuggets are notoriously known to fall off during the playoffs, while some other teams of lower ranking than they are right now performs somewhat well.

If there is any bookie that provides these odds, of course you can bet low and hope for the best as the odds will be stacked, that's for sure. But logical? I don't think so, but it would be a much welcome change to the league if it ever comes to that.
