2761  Other / Meta / Re: Is Selling Bitcointalk Accounts Allowed? on: October 12, 2013, 04:39:10 AM
i'm new here.is this the thread where i can sell my account?

Seriously, I'm curious as to what my account would be worth, not that I'm interested in selling it.

I don't think anyone would scam with your account, they would just get multiple BTC per month in Signature advertising for all of your posts.
2762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Scrypt Bitcoin Threads NOT Allowed on: October 12, 2013, 04:28:44 AM
oh u mean forum btc bagholders. not a fan of btc scrypt and not trollin (this time) but do feel its pretty bad taste to pick and chose what scamcoins you allow threads on or don't.

If you haven't noticed, theres at least 100 Alt coins I don't actively support, but I don't feel the need to disallow them. What we feel the need to disallow is a coin that can essentially be considered malware. The BITCOIN forums don't want immitators confusing/harming their BITCOIN users. That is the main priority. Its really not up for negotiation, the threads will be removed for the reasons that I have gone to lengths to explain already. Yep, censorship is bad, but necessary from time to time. I don't see anyone complaining when someone posts fake wallet stealer clients and I remove those.

If there is something you don't understand in my explanation, feel free to pm me with your questions, and I'll clarify.
2763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ZEU - ZeusCoin - New PoW coin with random blocks | No Premine on: October 10, 2013, 08:52:38 PM
I just found out that there is a fake thread for ZeusCoin, which I already reported to the mod. The fake thread copied everything from here, but with a different download link. Be careful NOT to download the client there, it could be a phishing or virus program.

Here is the official thread for ZeusCoin, only the download links here are the correct ones for ZeusCoin clients.

Got it and removed the thread. Thanks

2765  Other / Meta / Re: Can you sell/buy bitcointalk accounts? on: October 08, 2013, 10:16:22 PM
People really do that? What makes accounts worth buying? In other words, what the value of account?

Well purchased accounts can be used multiple ways. We hope that people don't use them to buy credibility in the form of old accounts to scam, but there are more legitimate reasons to buy an account as well. If you don't want to wait through newbie restrictions, you can buy an account from someone. If you want multiple accounts to participate in giveaways, contests, or for signature advertising, you can use multiple accounts to earn more coin.

Of course there is the downside, with those that try and give themselves fake loans to build trust, or to scam people. However, its not too hard to tell when this is happening, and those alts tend to get caught pretty quickly.

Hi
im from uk- do u ship and what the postage cost for 20 1oz silver bullion?

I can ship to the UK, shipping in a small flate rate box would be $24    but I'll be experimenting with different shipping options to find out the best way to get cost down.

Also be aware that you may be charged by customs depending on your country's importation of precious metals taxes.

On a side note, I'm taking the pictures now.

2770  Economy / Goods / Buy, Sell, or Trade Collectors Silver, Gold, and Bullion on: October 07, 2013, 09:19:18 PM
Hello people of BTCTalk. I have been an avid Silver stacker for years, and in the last few years got into the collectors coin market as well. I have a wide network of other collectors that I frequently buy/sell/trade with, and I figured I'd open up that market to you. Please note, spot price has very little to do with some of these coins. Some of them are semi collectable, and have lower premiums, some have low mintage numbers, pretty pictures, and are specially treated making them more valuable to collectors. I will also have lower premium generics and eagles and such from time to time. Before posting prices, I have price checked with other online retailers, and then undercut them to provide incentive to buy from myself, rather than them. This thread is self moderated, this is mainly to handle people complaining about spot prices, and to keep the thread on topic. If you are looking for something in particularly, pm me and I'll see if I can find it for you and give you a quote.

I accept BTC, LTC, or USD via Cash in the Mail, or Personal Check. Shipping within the U.S is the most convient, however I can ship out of the country. I'm also always looking to buy or trade, so if you have something interesting for sale, or you want to barter, let me know.

Unstickied, because the thread has been up long enough for people to see it. The rule still applies, however it doesn't need to be staring you in the face every time you come into the Alt Currencies section.

2775  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Loan For .05 BTC? on: October 01, 2013, 03:59:37 PM
What if I pay 33% of a .03 loan up front?

Then that means you could run off with the other 66% and then the better question is, why then ask for .03 BTC if you only need .02BTC as you already have .01, or why ask for a .03 BTC loan in the first place? The way collateral works, is you have to be able to send people something of value that can be used to recoup their losses if the person taking the loan defaults. For example, if you wanted a 2 BTC loan, you would have no problem getting that loan if you provided something worth 2.5BTC as collateral, that the person giving you the loan could sell to get their coins back if you defaulted.

ID and partial payments don't mean anything anymore, after people realized they were still getting scammed with people's full IDs. Going to court over a defaulted loan with someone across the country or in a different country over a Bitcoin loan made on an internet forum doesn't have the greatest chance of being awarded, so the only safe way to do loans now is with collateral. Now, if you have used the forum for a year or two, and you are looking for a .03 BTC loan, someone might give it to you based on the hope that your time spent building your account off is worth more than $4, however reputation based loans are never for any more than a few dollars, and taking loans solely to build your reputation is viewed as a scammer's activity.

So my advice to you, only request a loan that you actually need. Only request it if you have some form of collateral lined up, and be aware, if you don't have a valid reason for requesting the loan, valid collateral, and anything but an incredibly believable story, you can expect to be labeled a scammer immediately. Its not always fair, but thats how the forums have adapted to deal with people who are anonymous using an unreversable payment method.

Some frequent collateral mediums are: Litecoins (talk to TomatoCage) Virtual shares in companies like ASICminer, and anything of value that you can send to someone in the mail.
2776  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Loan For .05 BTC? on: October 01, 2013, 02:52:27 PM
New members should never ask for loans unless they have kick ass collateral all lined up. Theres no way to not be labeled a scammer asking for any amount in the newbie section or if your account is new. Go to the lending forum and check out 95% of the loan requests and Tomatocage's/Vod's replies.

Assuming you aren't a scammer, this sort of thread makes people think you are. Confidence loans are frowned upon, and using the reputation of another new account also doing a confidence loan to back you up doesn't look especially good.

How do you wan't me to prove it?

You don't need proof, you need collateral. No one cares if you are using multiple accounts or investing in Satoshidice with no way to pay back, as long as they have collateral to recover their losses if you default.

2778  Other / Meta / Re: Get Donator status by donating 10 BTC on: October 01, 2013, 04:34:09 AM
I'm willing to bet 5 BTC that if a 1 BTC or less donation option is offered while Bitcoin is under $200 USD, there will be a scammer with that 1 BTC status within the first four months. I'd have to have some sort of neutral third party determine if the person actually performed a scam or not, though, I'm open to suggestions.

Also, if someone wants to run the names of all the Donator/Scammers and collect the following, I'd be interested in it:
1) Name of Donator/VIP
2) Date they registered their account
3) Date they purchased Donator/VIP
4) Date they appear to have first scammed (best estimate might be needed)
5) Date they appear to have gotten the scammer tag (best estimate might be needed)
6) URL of scammer thread

Here, I'll do R-:
1) R-
2) March 31, 2012, 08:03:21 AM
3) April 18, 2012, 07:50:24 AM
4) July 23, 2012, 12:44:28 AM
5) January 12, 2013, 02:37:08 PM (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=94734.msg1450060#msg1450060)
6) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=94734.20

My guess is that R- would fit the mold of the typical Donator/VIP scammer and the admin/mod reaction to it.

Here's how it goes:
Someone registers and then buys Donator/VIP within the first three months of their account if not under one month, performs some regular business and enjoys their status, then within four months after getting VIP, totally screws over some poor soul willing to do a hundred bucks worth of work for them and doesn't receive a scammer tag till 6 months later.

That said, the trust system helps immensely in getting early warning signals in. As Thomas Jefferson once said on liberty, "I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it." The trust system is liberty and a free market. I'd rather be exposed to a slew of negative ratings by individuals upset over something someone said than see people getting scammed by Donators/VIPs/whatever the new 1 BTC status would be.

Oh man, I forgot about that thread, Mushroomized now owes me 3.5x10^84 BTC.

So did you ever get paid Mush? See, she took a loan from me for 10 BTC, and she said she would have paid me back a long time ago, but she never got paid for some work. Now due to the terms of our loan that we set as a joke at the time, she now owes me 1.8 Million BTC, as we set the terms that 200% interest would compound daily after our initial 1 month agreement.

So... if Mush doesn't get her BTC soon, I'm going to have to break her other leg. And trust me, she doesn't need any more deformities. R, could you live with yourself knowing that you are making some poor hideous woman even more hideous as she falls deeper and deeper into debt?

BTW, Mush, it will be 3.6 Million BTC owed in 1 hour and 20 minutes, so you better hurry the hell up.

2780  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [LTC-GLOBAL] Litecoin Silver [Shutting Down] on: September 30, 2013, 11:34:19 PM
So it is definitely shutting down, not migrating to another exchange?

I'm shutting down for now. I may migrate to another exchange, but I'd rather settle everyone's shares first and reissue later. I'd rather not BFL my share holders and give them an estimate time frame that I have no basis off of. It could be a day, or it could be 3 months before I find another suitable exchange. I refuse to string along my share holders by having them deal with my own uncertainty.

So, the plan is to lock the asset trading tomorrow, use the next 7 days to get in touch with my share holders to figure out what they wish to do with their shares, and then have everything concluded before Trading is halted indefinately on the 7th. When I find a suitable exchange, I'll just restart the asset fresh.
