2761  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Youtube channel - what would you like to see? on: September 14, 2021, 09:42:53 PM
The simple way of ignoring them is not to search for them on YouTube at all or click not interested in side menu of the video and you will see less of them. Here are certain options for you as well Block channels on YouTube
I was aware of the first method, but I usually visit Youtube while not logged into anything Google-related, like Gmail, so there's no option to not accept whatever crap Youtube recommends.  I'll have to check out that link.

That thumbnail with the dude holding the phone with the caption reading (Not Clickbait)....just screams clickbait!  And yeah, almost every video that winds up recommended by Youtube has a similar thumbnail, and it doesn't matter if the topic is bitcoin or organic bananas.  I swear to god the world has flipped its lid.

But bitcointalk official channel should be away from such crap and promote only true and real facts providing knowledge and creating awareness among mass.
The official bitcointalk channel should focus on bitcointalk, IMO.  I'm waiting with bated breath for the day the channel goes live, and that's the truth.  I can't wait!
2762  Economy / Reputation / Re: BADecker is one of the most dedicated and successful trolls on the forum on: September 14, 2021, 07:55:09 PM
OP, for those of us who don't visit P&S or Off-Topic because those sections contain so much garbage, it'd be nice if you included some quotes to back up your position if you're going to accuse someone of being a troll.  It's not like sharing PMs; it's easy enough to just copy/paste samples right into your thread here so the rest of us can judge and form an opinion without having to search his username and go through his post history.

That said, this isn't the first time somebody's complained about BADecker's posting style if I'm not mistaken.  I'm familiar with the name, though I can't say I've seen any of his posts in a long, long time.

So what's the purpose of this topic if it's not an "attack" on him?  Cheesy
It's an attack.  That's like saying, "I'm not calling you fat, but goddamn you're fat, you fat ass!".
2763  Economy / Economics / Re: How to Influence the Bitcoin Market on: September 14, 2021, 06:41:42 PM
“earns meet”
What does that mean?  OP, did you translate this from another site, by any chance?  I'm not accusing you of anything, but I swear what you've written looks very much like something that would appear in a blog post or article of some sort, and "earns meet" has got to be a bad translation of some other language into English, because those two words together don't mean anything in English.

4.   You must have the capital to put in and make yourself known as “Elon Musk did”[/b]
That would rule out like 99.9% of us plebeians who can barely afford much of an investment in bitcoin, much less what Elon Musk could afford to buy--and that's assuming he owns bitcoin, which I'm not sure of after those tweets that crashed the market a couple of months back.  The fact is that most members on this forum are very small investors; the whales aren't likely to be posting here (though I suspect there are at least a few old-timers who've got to have a huge stash of BTC).
2764  Economy / Reputation / Re: WTF Maidak? on: September 14, 2021, 11:09:53 AM
And for this, already I've realized that I will never get back the money, even if I give screenshots or all other proof. Now I'm wasting my time by writing this shit in here
so writing here or digging old history is nothing but wasting time. I can't you explain how much I am busy right now, even I'm out of my city now.
I don't have enough time to argue with you, go away dumbass, I'm busy with the various projects, do whatever you want to do, Uncivilized stupid.
When people claim they're too busy to provide proof of something when they're accused of wrongdoing always strikes me as suspicious at best.  And clearly Maidak has enough time to argue about this, since he keeps making posts in which he claims he's way too busy to argue or to show proof of being scammed.  I don't know about the rest of y'all, but that combined with his previous trust history makes me inclined to think he's a complete bullshitter.
2765  Economy / Reputation / Re: Someone had access to my account last month - Please beware! on: September 14, 2021, 10:56:55 AM
I am suspecting the hacker got access to my Firefox sync account as well which would enable him to get passwords of different accounts.
Wait, you stored your passwords in the cloud? Shocked Why on earth would you do that? Cloud storage is a terrible idea for passwords.
I'm a complete idiot when it comes to tech, and even I know not to do that.  I'm not trying to rub salt in any wounds here, legendster, but damn.  I use Firefox, but don't use the sync function.

And I'm not even sure why e-mail is required on this forum.  I get that some people want the 2FA security, but for me it's just another piece of data that can be hacked, and personally I don't care to enter anything but a throwaway e-mail address.

He reset the password today. The bigger question is - like LoyceV mentioned - how did the "hacker" access the account without resetting the password, and why did the presumably real legendster needed to reset it if...
Why didn't the hacker reset the password is the better question.  And if legendster did indeed get hacked and the hacker didn't change it, I understand why legendster would change it--unless I'm missing something obvious.  I'm assuming the hacker got access to it from the Firefox data in which it was stored and presumably still has it.  No idea why a hacker wouldn't change a password on an account they just hacked, but hey....I'm not a hacker.
2766  Economy / Economics / Re: MicroStrategy Buys $250M in Bitcoin, Calling the Crypto ‘Superior to Cash’ on: September 13, 2021, 11:22:28 PM
Well, Saylor is buying again at any time and does not wait for market corrections to buy the cheapest coins.
He'd be silly to try to do that.  It's almost impossible to time the stock market, much less the bitcoin market.  And I think Saylor believes bitcoin is headed much, much higher than it is at any price point in the range it's been trading at for months now, so in his eyes $48k is a steal.

And holy shit, that's a huge bitcoin purchase!  Granted, I expected MSTR to buy more bitcoin, but wow.  Now I'm wondering when they're going to stop buying--obviously the money to finance the purchases has to come from somewhere, and there's got to be a limit even for the most hardcore of bitcoin bulls.

Currently MicroStrategy holds ~114 062 BTC and is the largest Bitcoin holder among institutional investors.
That's astounding.  Hopefully MSTR has strong hands, because as I've said before if they were to dump that bitcoin on the market all at once, it'd be a big OUCH to every bitcoin holder in existence.  Pretty sure that's not going to happen, though.
2767  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is this what call hard work? on: September 13, 2021, 10:38:03 PM
That guy's a Sr. Member from 2017?  Jesus.  His post history looks like that of a stereotypical bounty hunter: idiotic posts with extremely poor English and obviously only as many characters as required to get paid.

Due to the corona pandemic situations , my family income already deduced so I can't buy food properly hence I spend my days with very miserable conditions. I think coronavirus and would be stable and food price never be stopped.
In the eyes of Islam, if money increases from any amount, it becomes completely haram. So since money is increasing from money here then I can say it is completely haram.

Those are but two of the gems I saw in his post history.  OP, I don't consider what he did to be "work".  What it is is a bunch of shitposts that should be deleted post haste.  Did you report any of them to the mods or contact his bounty manager?  I'm not sure if the latter would care or not, but the mods might delete at least some of those pieces of crap.  Not that I'd expect NicNacCoin to get the message, because I'm sure he's incapable of improving the quality of his posts.
2768  Economy / Reputation / Re: 5000$ wager timed to search for plagiarism, (or how to learn to lie publicly). on: September 13, 2021, 09:50:40 PM
It would be nice if you legends could just get along, or at least tolerate each other. You scare the crap out of newbies!
How do you know?  You're not a newbie; you've been a member for over a year and a half.  And as far as getting along goes, there's always been conflict between certain members--for as long as I've been a member and probably well before that.  That's just how it goes on a forum where people are allowed to express their feelings freely.

Keep your personal feelings at home nobody cares about how you feel here
Even though nobody might care, he's still free to write what he wants.  Again, that's the beauty of this forum.  There's very little censorship; arguments are going to happen; and people are free to voice their displeasure over said arguments, even if the expression of that displeasure accomplishes nothing.

Yo OP bro..
We price things in in BTC around here..
Not everyone does, but I'm actually with you on that.  It'd be nice if the amount was in BTC instead of fiat--but it's not my call.
2769  Economy / Reputation / Re: WTF Maidak? on: September 13, 2021, 08:52:12 PM
Massive logic fail. Stop posting nonsense and secure your shit.
LOL.  I just know legendster is going to have a long and likely (unintentionally) humorous response to this, so I'm going to follow owlcatz's lead and bust out the buttered popcorn and 3D glasses.

So what exactly did happen here?  Did the hacker of legendster's account take out a loan or something?  I've been away from my computer for about 8 hours and when I return, there's all this drama afoot.  Is your password not strong enough, legendster?
2770  Other / Meta / Re: Did you notice that forum have fewer trolls in 2021? on: September 13, 2021, 11:36:42 AM
The other possibility is that, we might not be talking & complaining about 'trolls' & 'shitposts' as much as we used to.
On the whole, I think that we're not doing either of those as much as we used to--I know I haven't been complaining nearly as much since the merit system started.  Why?  Because even though the problem still exists, there's a mechanism in place whereby they have an extremely hard time ranking up, which is the exact opposite of how it used to be prior to the merit system.  That's good enough for me.

Code:
[b]Top 50 users[/b]
<snip>
5. The Pharmacist [50]
<snip>
LOL.  OK, I'm a prime offender there, I'll admit.  I didn't think I used that word as much as I did, since I don't remember the last time I did.  Then again, look at my post count and compare it to how many times I mentioned the word "troll".  It's a pretty small percentage.
2771  Economy / Economics / Re: After 1 year of Covid 19 Virus on: September 13, 2021, 11:29:59 AM
Why keep blaming the government? If everyone was following the precautions (wearing of masks, maintaining social distancing.etc), then the pandemic might have got contained in 2020 itself. The entire world is suffering because of reckless behavior from a few anti-social elements who refused to follow safety protocol.
That last part isn't true.  I think most people in the US are vaccinated by now, and the pandemic is much improved despite all the hype and continued media coverage of it.  If people who've either been vaccinated or gotten the virus and recovered are combined, immunity against COVID should be pretty high.

Despite that, governments around the world are still losing their minds over this, still requiring people to get vaccinated, and a lot of businesses are still requiring masks (even though most people are just wearing them for show at this point).  I don't think the government is responsible for keeping the pandemic at bay, but they are responsible for the policies they've set--and some of them have been completely inconsistent with science, and I hate that.
2772  Other / Meta / Re: My brother wants to open bitcointalk account on: September 12, 2021, 10:36:44 PM
May I suggest to OP that he lock this thread now that he's gotten the right answer multiple times and keeping it open is only going to invite shitposters trying to get merits and/or increase their post count in Meta?  There was no reason for this thread to be bumped by this post:

You can create 2 accounts on 1 IP with no problem, but if you create more accounts, you may have to pay a small BTC fee to be able to post articles, it is best if there are already many more than 2 accounts / IP, but first you need to read the rules of bitcointailk carefully to learn more and how to create more accounts on 1 IP.
It adds nothing to what's already been written here.  Please, OP.  Do the forum a favor and lock threads like this when you've gotten your answer.  Thanks.
2773  Other / Meta / Re: Did you notice that forum have fewer trolls in 2021? on: September 12, 2021, 09:36:53 PM
Nice guess its on a steady decrease since 2019 althought i wonder what happened in 2018 that caused this increase usage of that word, shit was wild back then i suppose.
It wasn't a guess, dude!  I'm assuming you're not aware that the merit system was implemented in Jan. 2018?

Discussion about merits and the new system was on fire in Meta for most of 2018, and I probably used the terms "shitpost" and "shitposter" dozens if not a hundred times that year (and in 2017, too, because the problem was out of control at that point).  If you want some juicy reading, go look at Meta in Jan. 2018.  I think the merit system was rolled out on the 28th or the 26th of that month, and that section just exploded afterward.  It was an insane time, believe me.
2774  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid-19 vaccination becoming a criteria to live in the world on: September 12, 2021, 09:30:16 PM
This is more serious with America taking such steps to ensure compliance , more countries will follow this direction and gradually it will get to smaller businesses, SMEs and then to restrictions on entering banks, malls, fuels stations and etc which will replace face mask.
I don't think it's going to go that far in the US, though I wouldn't rule anything out with Biden as president.  But yeah, government employees and a lot of other people are going to either have to get vaccinated or submit to weekly testing.  Don't forget about that latter part, because at present it's an option for those who don't want the vaccine.

The good thing is that this is being challenged in the media and (hopefully) in the courts.  The bad thing is that there is a legal precedent for the government mandating vaccination, dating back to 1905 if I've got my date correct.  That was to prevent the spread of smallpox, and if I were living back then I'd get the vaccination with no hesitation.  Smallpox is no joke--but COVID?  The fact is that most people who get it have mild symptoms and recover just fine.  The severity of COVID infection is nowhere near that of smallpox.

The world may be divided with vaccinated and non-vaccinated while only those who have done their vaccination will only be able to get inside the mall, banks or any establishment.
Where is that currently happening?  It sure isn't in the US.  Hell, most people don't even visit malls anymore, so I wouldn't worry about that.  And banking can easily be done online.  It's the requirement for employment that's a bitch, IMO.
2775  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Youtube channel - what would you like to see? on: September 12, 2021, 09:10:32 PM
Also, technical analysis in crypto is in my opinion mostly gambling (don't want to go off-topic, just putting it out here).
TA channels on Youtube are some of the most boring I've ever seen, and I do hope the bitcointalk channel doesn't engage in that sort of thing.  IMO it's way outside the scope of what the channel should be about, though at this point I'm not sure exactly what the scope of it is going to be.

You would see the clickbait thumbnail with cheeky smiles on their face and when you open up the video to have a look you would feel what the hell they are taking about
Yeah, no kidding--and I've expressed my concerns about the thumbnails specifically here, though I'm sure that thread has been buried under a mountain of Bitcoin Discussion dung.  And the shilling that goes on in some of the bitcoin-related Youtube channels is ridiculous.  It seems like everything on Youtube has come to revolve around sponsorship and money--no different than any mainstream TV station, right?  And I hate to say it, but Voskcoin's channel is the absolute worst of the worst, yet it keeps popping up every time I search for bitcoin videos.  Too bad there's no way to ignore channels on Youtube.
2776  Other / Meta / Re: Did you notice that forum have fewer trolls in 2021? on: September 12, 2021, 08:46:54 PM
Oh, I get what you're saying, OP.  It took me a minute to figure it out--there have been fewer accusations of trolling in the past 3 years, based on the use of the word "troll", right?

That might be because Lauda, TECSHARE, Vod, and some others have left the forum (though those members left more recently than 2019).  I think I recall Lauda in particular using "troll" a lot, and TECSHARE as well.  I'm not sure your data reflect anything more than that, but it is interesting nonetheless.

I'd be more interested to see the change in the usage of the term "shitpost" or "shitposter" since 2017.  I'd bet it's decreased somewhat.
2777  Economy / Economics / Re: Food prices doubled this year on: September 12, 2021, 07:17:27 PM
Inflation seems to be at its peak, at least here in Greece, with food and basic necessities seeing a large price increase the past few months. The electricity cost has also increased for the average household. On top of that, fuel prices are on the rise, with an average of 1.70-1.75€ per liter of unleaded petrol.
I wouldn't count on it being at its peak, as things can always get worse--but for your sake and the sake of your country, I hope it's true.

Over here in the US, it seems like inflation is ramping up and who knows when the peak is going to be?  I'm betting that it's not going to be soon, especially with Biden's economic policies.  He seems to love giving money away, and the net result is an extra tax on every single citizen in the form of inflation.  He didn't start this mess of course, but he's not making it any better.  I've seen prices of certain things increase since last time I posted in this thread, which wasn't too long ago.

Anyone know if hyperinflation comes on slowly or all at once?  That's what I'm worried about.
2778  Other / Meta / Re: Editing plagiarism, after detection on: September 12, 2021, 05:44:12 PM
For this case, leaving a source as Google is very lazy and unacceptable (in my opinion) at least, it shows that poster does not claim the ownership of that content.
It's especially unacceptable if the source is Goggle.  I get that people forget to cite their source sometimes, but you can only forget once or twice over a long period of time before it becomes blatant plagiarism.  As for being reminded to put in a citation after the post was made, that's a tricky one.  I don't really have a problem with it, and it might be more constructive and a positive thing overall than just letting the member get banned--but that's assuming the member learns his lesson from that warning.

2779  Other / Meta / Re: What happened to BitcoinTalk in the last years? on: September 11, 2021, 11:12:04 PM
The question is that while thousands of people is joining bitcointalk today?
No, the question is why bitcointalk has become overrun by garbage shitposters in the last X number of years, and I'd say X>6, because it was just as bad when I registered as it is today--though there's been maybe some improvement because of the merit system.

C) is that bitcointalk community is a source of living a comfortable live?
Say what?  I don't expect that if I asked you to clarify what you meant that you'd even see my post, but how the hell does a discussion forum provide a comfortable life for anyone?  For older members, sometimes it can make them want to pull their hair out, especially if they're trying to read threads in sections like Bitcoin Discussion.  That should be the most sacred of sections, and yet it's nothing but a wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling shitbox of crap.  Haven't you noticed that?

Oh wait, are you talking about the desperate booger-eating bounty hunters who work for a month or more for a handful of scam tokens that they may or may not receive?  Yeah, that'll provide a comfortable life.
2780  Other / Meta / Re: Copy/paste only with source on: September 11, 2021, 03:59:13 PM
Yikes, slap on that tin foil hat--but I guess that's what Off-Topic is for, right?

That was an extreme example of what OP is talking about, but with topics related to bitcoin or other crypto-related stuff, I actually don't mind if someone posts an article, a snippet of one, or just a link, because I don't actively follow what's going on on the crypto news sites.  All the news I get basically comes from this forum.  However, I think if someone posts any of that, they should start up the discussion with their own thoughts rather than not posting anything themselves (the extreme) or posting a lazy one-sentence "So what U guyz thinks?" kind of crap (the bare minimum).

One member whose posts always contain articles is Hydrogen, and he's an example of how to do it right.  He always gives his own thoughts at the end of whatever he quotes and invites discussion.  Usually the articles he quotes from are interesting, too.
