2761  Economy / Speculation / Re: Does anyone else think it's feeling like 2014 all over again? on: January 17, 2017, 08:00:55 AM
i'm more inclined to think that this yea it's simply like the 2016 year at the begin where the price was 400 then it went at 770 with the first big pump and a retreat to 350-400

the same thing is happening, big pump followed by a retreat to the previous point
2762  Economy / Economics / Re: How can we make more money? on: January 17, 2017, 07:49:25 AM
you can simply get a job and get payed in bitcoin with service like bitwage if you are not good at trading or don't want to invest in mining

otherwise you need to sell goods, for example i made something by selling custom open frame rig for mining to other miners
2763  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: [need help] Is it possible to start with low amounts of money ? on: January 17, 2017, 07:47:13 AM
if your electricity is very low, you can buy a second hand antminer like s7 or s5 and begin with that they cost far less but very inefficient

so yes it's possible but don't expect to have a good profit with those old miners
2764  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 95% lol. No chance. SegWit is now dead. on: January 17, 2017, 07:43:06 AM
its a shame because SegWit would make Bitcoin a lot better.

have you even read segwit code
have you even run scenarios
have you understood the reality.

...
or have you just looked at someone else who said it was great and trusted them because you think they know whats best, so you simply took it on faith

when sheep follow sheep all they see is the woolly ass infront of them

i dont mean to attack you personally but hopefully it will prompt you to research and see beyond whats been placed infront of you

Sure lets see the other options available:

- Hardfork to allow bigger blocks

Even more impossible, a softfork that slightly "increases" the blocksize would happen faster and with less contention.

ehm segwit is not even a final solution, it's not like you solved the scaling issue when you activate it if ever

you need at some point to increase the block limit regardless of segwit, so why we don't go to that route anyway?

segwit was a temporary solution proposed only to have more time to find another better one in the future

but as the things look it seems that no other solutions will ever be found...
2765  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen if BTC was Banned? on: January 17, 2017, 07:36:08 AM
As anything banned, such as drugs or alcohol during the Prohibition, the price will rise a lot, and that will attract criminals. Not However not very sure how criminals could conduct a Bitcoin traffic as they do with drugs, but there will be definitively an action from their side.

i don't think so, even if bitcoin is banned you can still use it easily, no government will ever check if you are sending a transaction abroad to your friend or family

also bitcoin will continue to work on many other country, banning it in one country will not make any difference,

unless those that are in that country hold a very high amount and are in any way unable to use them, which mean that those coin are kinda like lost coins
2766  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Taxes and mining on: January 17, 2017, 07:31:53 AM
it depend on when you live, are you talking about USA jurisdiction? common sense tell me that only those with a big farm will pay anything for their income

if you have a very small business, let's say 3 rig.. there is a high chance that will not need to pay anything, as usual a certain amount must be surpassed per year, this is true in some european country

but maybe in usa you need to pay on any amount...wich would be stupid anyway, because otherwise any random joe need to pay a taxes if he is running his gaming pc to mine...
2767  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Taxes on Bitcoin on: January 17, 2017, 07:28:13 AM

I have a question... so if i cashout 11k BTC in GBP i dont have to pay capital gains right since you get 11k personal allowance per year.  Does it matter what you earn as an income or does income not change captial gains tax?

you need to pay capital gay on the amount you earn by doing trading, you will be taxed on the revenue if those 11k are the net revenue than you need to declare and be taxed on that amount

2768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Have 14 gpus, what should I mine? on: January 16, 2017, 04:54:16 PM
You have 14 gpus.  Thus you are small size.

If you can mine and hold for sixty days Zec is best.

Why is that?   Zec has very few coins and a small market cap.

This means it would be easy for it to double or triple in price.

Downside is I am asking you to mine and hold for sixty days.

It could crash and burn.

I have forty CPUs I have 20 on Zec and 20 on eth.

I cash the eth and hold the Zec.

double yes triple it's hard because the daily supply for zec is high already, around 300 btc produced per day

etheruem at its peak was producing 800-900 btc when it was sold at 0.03+...you need a great amount of money and hype to sustain those high value
2769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoin mining value on: January 16, 2017, 02:35:15 PM
one s9 cost 2k against a 6 x 480 rig which cost 1600, but the 6 gpu rig can only reach 0.008 per day while the s9 0.01 with higher consumption, around double of the gpu rig
2770  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would be the best legal / illegal ways to earn Bitcoin? on: January 16, 2017, 08:05:41 AM
It seems like only with the signature campaign, cloud mining and mining to legal ways. to date I have yet to know how illegal substances to produce bitcoin, because theft of bitcoin was impossible.

well you mentioned one without knowing, cloud mining is actually in the majority of the case a ponzi, so they are basically stealing other people that is one illegal way to acquire bitcoin

and theft of bitcoin is still very easy apparantly, all the ico you see in the altsection, are also in part scamming especially when the dev run away....
2771  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian, adopt a "wait-and -see approach" on bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. on: January 16, 2017, 07:57:28 AM
rusia really ned to make their head right, they first allowed bitcoin, then they banned it because of CP and because they feared for their currency that is also used more than bitcoin from terrorist

terrorism was also another excuse to not accept the cryptocurrency, then they removed again this and now they are talking that they will remain in standby

i think they just want to earn money on it and they are waiting for the value to increase before accepting it

I have been thinking the same thing, it's very weird obviously. I have a speculation like this: first scheme they ban bitcoin say it's used as criminal currency and any illegal activity, ect to decrease the price. Then second scheme they buy some bitcoin to earn profit.
Or they just in research to see how people panic to market based on fundamental

It is only weird to those who either don't know how matters stand in reality or don't understand the gory details behind the moves of the Russian government in respect to Bitcoin. First of all, Bitcoin has never been banned in Russia, without understanding this any further discussion makes no sense altogether. There were a lot of threats from government officials and allegedly some drafts having been elaborated on which would have banned Bitcoin and criminalized its use, but basically nothing had come out of it. This agenda was mainly pushed by the Ministry of Finance and their primary aim was not to involve the Tax Service of Russia (which is part of the former) with taxing Bitcoin since that would be a hell of a job. Further, after mostly the same officials started to talk about treating Bitcoin as a foreign currency, the Tax Service itself issued a letter in which it clearly stated that Bitcoin is not their business altogether...

If you look at the issue this way, it will be perfectly clear why the Russian government acts in this manner exactly

they made it illegal at some point i remember it clearly because it was promoting trrorism they said and CP...those were putin words, it's not so different than banning it, now they are simply undecied again

You are obviously thinking it up

Maybe, you read some news article claiming that Bitcoin was about to be banned in Russia, but there was no such law outright banning Bitcoin. If you are going to challenge this stance, I guess you should point to the actual law allegedly doing that. But I can assure you that you are just being misinformed. To adopt a federal law in Russia, the draft should pass three readings in the State Duma, and then it should be signed by the President. That would be quickly and widely made known to everyone. Besides, I don't remember Putin saying something very negative toward Bitcoin. In fact, what he actually said may be interpreted as a neutral attitude (if not friendly)

actually not the news was even here on bitcoin talk and in the legal section, heck even wiki was reporting it

the problem is that they changed their mind so offen that is now pointless to talk about it

because somethign that is illegal for 1 month, it's not really illegal
2772  Economy / Economics / Re: Tax Authority in Isael wants to Treat Bitcoin as a property!!! on: January 16, 2017, 07:55:48 AM
Well, it's indeed a good news, and I hope that thing goes properly like what happened in U.S.A because they're also treating bitcoin as a property for the answers to the Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) given by their citizen according to this link: https://www.irs.gov/uac/newsroom/irs-virtual-currency-guidance

For now it's just a first draft, but it is indeed folowing USA in that matter.

But I still don't get it. How will they enforce this?
All transactions are anonymously, and without declaring it myself no one will know my revenues from bitcoin selling

When you sell your bitcoins you convert them to fiat, right?

And what do you want to do next? I guess it is like withdrawing the proceeds to a bank account. But can you open a bank account without providing full details about your identity? Hardly so. In this way, if you receive fiat transaction from some source, you may well expect to be asked what activity does this money come from, yet more so if the sum received is big enough and doesn't quite add up to your official income which you declared in your income tax return

there are some anonymous card that are offered from some "shady" website" but some of those i think are legit, just a little expensive

by using this you might in theory evade as they don't revale anything about your identity, but people tend to forget that from the moment you do a purchase online you are traceable...
2773  Economy / Exchanges / Re: is Bitfinex still trusted? on: January 16, 2017, 07:53:08 AM
Looks safe and trusted based on this reputation review:
http://www.scamfoo.com/site/bitfinex.com/

Most important facts:
1) The domain name was registered 4 years ago.
2) This site has a very good online popularity (38K Alexa rank)
3) This site uses an HTTPS secure connection (by GeoTrust Inc).
4) This site has an excellent (82/100) trustworthiness score.
5) The site is not blacklisted by any service

Do you know they had been hacked in early August 2016 and lost almost 120k bitcoins?

Regarding trust, you should not trust any exchange by default. So if you have to keep your funds there, keep only as much as you actually need for trading. Regarding Bitfinex specifically, I don't think they will ever regain their trust (what's lost is lost), this is a tough business and competitors are not sleeping. Look at what happened to Bter which had once been one of the largest altcoin exchange out there. Now it is a half-man half-exchange with fictitious volume and frozen order-books

poloniex was also hacked long time ago, but it's still very operative, and many trust it inf act it is considered one of the best exchange now

so being hacked in the past doesn't make your exchange in backlist, it depend how the owner reedemed itself, if bitfinex refunded everything or a good portion it can be considered relatively trustable again
2774  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Can bitcoin be frozen? on: January 16, 2017, 07:50:01 AM
Can bitcoin take Fiat's place in time? Suppose it does? Can govetment step in and stop this program?

Its not possible to do , bitcoin is decentralized and no one can stop the transaction or a specific address from functioning. We switched from cash to credit cards and I think Its safe to say that cryptocurrencies will takeover in the future but probably governments will create their own digital currencies that are under their control.

So you're saying that no matter what, bitcoin cannot be traced or be frozen by the government. I guess that makes the government alittle uncomfortable.

traced yes but only if the sender reveal his name because he did a purchase on some shop online for example

but frozen no unless you stop al the computer i the world, and there is not a single government that can do this alone
2775  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help me figure this out? How to estimate the cost to create a Bitcoin? on: January 16, 2017, 07:46:52 AM
you simply calculate the consumption from the total hash that you need to have to create 1 bitcoin

if we assume that your device roi'ed already then you need, at present, an hashrate equal to 45TH to create one bitcoin in one month

45TH consume 4.5kwh which is around $162 a month, so you need $162 to produce $834(1 btc)
2776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What software and services do you use? on: January 16, 2017, 07:40:35 AM
i simply use core i'm not leavig any amount on any website, it doesn't matter how "secure" they say their website it is, it is only secure if it is under my full control

also with multiple wallet you can be 100% anonymous, because you will avoid ramification from the address
2777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: nheqminer - open source & free CUDA ZEC (GTX 1070 @ 400 Sol/s) miner by NiceHash on: January 16, 2017, 07:39:20 AM
so when the cpu/gpu bug will be fixed, i'm not getting what i should get with this, there is indeed a loss which is higher than the private miner with 2% fee
2778  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What's the best GPU to buy that will hold the most resale value after 1 year? on: January 15, 2017, 07:25:47 PM

If you are looking 1 year out these are the rumours....

The AMD Vega 11 family will replace the Polaris 10 (RX 4xx) sometime in 2017.

The NVidia Volta (GTX 20x0 (?)) will replace the Pascal (GTX 10x0) starting in 2017.

So both the RX 4xx and GTX 10xx families will no longer be shipping in 1 year, which would seem to reduce their resale value as "obsolete" or "non-current" cards.

The AMD Vega 10 family (R11 Huh) will being to appear next month and will likely be around in a year.  This could still be a shipping product and might have the best resale value, assuming the Vega 10 offers at least as good performance as the NVidia 10xx family.

http://wccftech.com/amd-vega-navi-gpu-hbm2/

http://wccftech.com/amd-vega-10-gpu-milestone/

a correction, the 20xx family is not volta, volta is delayed to 2018, the 20xx family is a pascal refresh, they will hash faster at the same cost of 1070 and 1080

ethereum is trash at the moment, lbry and zcash are far better and nvidia is better there, also a 1070 with 8gb has a better resale value to gamers than a 480 to miners, unless you buy the 8gb version, but this will kill the price difference in favor of amd

Right now you can resell RX 480 8Gb for 75% of initial price. Ebay sold prices checked right now

Actually never checked on NVidia - what are you numbers there?

zcash you can do 450, but i'm doing 416 with lowest consumption, on lbry you can do 300 but i'm doing 266 with lowest consumption

i would push it at maximum if i had a better energy cost

the 480 8gb cost more than $200, and it's not half of the 1070 price anymore
