2781  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: which trading platform accepts altcoin? on: May 19, 2015, 08:33:40 PM
Crptsy, Poloniex and ShapeShift are some of the best available out there.
2782  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which altcoins have already lost their blockchains? on: May 19, 2015, 07:28:57 PM
You should exclude coins like Ripple and Stellar, they don't need miners to keep them alive, also due to 'premine' and the way they are distributed.

This list is better for this kind of analysis: http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/views/filter-non-mineable-and-premined/

2785  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin mentioned on CSI Cyber on: May 19, 2015, 02:18:59 PM
Just watched the episode, it's crappy like all the others, this show is terrible, they failed to capture the way cyber crime happens, it's just another action cop show, technology is irrelevant to the plot, it can easily be substituted by some other thing.

Your bank doesn't allow you to spend your money?!

Have made a complaint with the proper authorities?

How about changing bank?
2787  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: gambling..its taking me out.. on: May 19, 2015, 01:42:27 PM
If you only gamble because of bitcoin maybe you should stay away from bitcoin related stuff, it should be easier to control the impulse.
2788  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-5-18] WSJ (Blog): 21 Unveils Product Plan: Mining Chips for Smartphones on: May 18, 2015, 09:04:16 PM
Quote
While 21 will in many cases derive bitcoin for its own account, its primary revenue stream will come sales of chips, a spokeswoman said. Separate to those chip sales, 21 expects to split the proceeds of mining with the device owner, depending on “different form factors” related to a variety incentive designs for device sales and contracts.

Just as “the iPhone’s subsidy model allowed a reduced upfront price point, allowing millions of people… to get started with a smartphone without a down-payment … we believe the 21 BitShare chip will enable a new generation of bitcoin-subsidized devices to help get the next 1 billion online,” she said.

Cool stuff, looking forward to see more.
2789  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Who are THEY? Are they Muslim? on: May 18, 2015, 07:07:53 PM
you and other muslim haters totally do not understand the meaning of the verse. unless it be means, that is.. remember the Quraan is in Arabic. like you i was perplexed with this quote. so i called a friend, he speaks arabic fluently. i asked him about this, he said in arabic it means that is, but in english there is mistranslation

It doesn't really matter, it's a big book, people will find whatever they need and interpret the way they want t justify their agenda, it's just another big book of multiple choice.

2791  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buying Bitcoin on: May 15, 2015, 01:54:56 AM
Bitfinex, Bitstamp and Kraken are amongst the best you can use, I believe these three have advanced interfaces for day traders.
2792  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Climate change taxes on: May 15, 2015, 12:52:32 AM
I think you're describing the "official" reason for the taxes, as a means to curb fossil fuel usage. This makes sense, but I was more interested in the "ulterior motive" that many climate change skeptics believe the governments have for these taxes.

Care to share what that ulterior motive may be?

so your argument is to make one sector of industry prosper by wiping out the competition?

Sort of.

In some well established industries there is low to zero innovation, one being the energy sector, if you want to push innovation and drive funds to research and development one can increase the cost of the legacy system, this will drive change much quicker.

at what cost though?

Clean air, clean rivers, clean land, less cancer, live longer...

2795  Economy / Economics / Re: How will Bitcoin replace banks as far as loans and interest are concerned? on: May 15, 2015, 12:18:57 AM
My bet is it won't, at least in a meaningful way.

Banks have already the know how to do that, people recognition and all the infrastructure in place, if they also want to loan out bitcoin as they do with Euros or dollars it will simply be an expansion of their services.

There are already some platforms that provide crowdfunding loans like BTCJam, the default ratio is pretty high and I don't think there is any real way to get the money back, still very risky investment.
2796  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: is there a resource estmating the # of day traders per Bitcoin based exchanges ? on: May 14, 2015, 09:04:21 PM
That is private information, only exchanges can give such stats.

2798  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Vatican recognises Palestine on: May 14, 2015, 07:12:35 PM
Vatican is one of those countries that do not matter, countries with seat in UN are the ones who need to recognize the State of Palestine.

Like Sweden for example: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/oct/30/sweden-officially-recognises-state-palestine
2799  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Climate change taxes on: May 14, 2015, 07:02:25 PM
Taxation is a great way to disincentivize the purchase of a particular product that may be harmful, like tobacco or alcohol beverages, making it more expensive it is less available for people and it has to be acquired with moderation.

Gas, AFAIK, has special taxes since ever, but with all pollution we are faced with this kind of product its use has to be moderated and even made obsolete, for the energy industry to change and invest in better more clean forms of energy production in a timely manner extra taxes on gas and coal are applied.
