2781  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 26, 2022, 06:55:19 PM
I think this is highly unlikely as i do not think the club will want to spend so much during the transfer season especially if they want to retain dembele, because a new contract for him will mean a raise in wages.
I second that too, i think this is just a rumor, as far as i know Barcelona are still in a financial crisis and most of their recent signings had to take paycuts from what they were earning in their previous teams. I think the issue Salah is having with Liverpool now is based on wages, thus there is no way he can move to Barcelona as they would be unable to meet up with his wage demand. Well if it was possible, Salah would be a great addition, he dribbles superbly and has a wicked left foot, not as good as Messi, but it could bring back the Messi feeling to the Camp Nou, but it looks impossible right now that Salah will sign for Barcelona. I actually expect Mo to remain in Liverpool, they can't afford to lose him.
2782  Other / Meta / Re: [Results 2021] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 on: March 26, 2022, 05:44:48 PM
First of all the biggest 'congratulations' and thank you should go to icopress for the success of yet another Bitcointalk community awards, thank you GazetaBitcoin as well for your assistance in the success of all of this, i am pretty sure it wasn't easy as i know we all have busy schedules in real life, so to make out time to ensure this was a success basically means you love Bitcointalk and that is indeed appreciated by me and other users as well i am sure.

Congratulations to all of the winners, i do not take this to be just a mere voting, but a valuable recognition in the midst of many in the forum, without the participants and their votes this would not be possible too, so thank you to all who participated in one way or another, and i hope we have many more reasons to unite as a community and have 'fun' such as this and in other ways possible going forward, thank you all once again.

2784  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: March 26, 2022, 05:06:38 PM
Burnley tried to bring Victor Moses from Russia based on that new rule saying that players from Russian clubs can be signed on a part-time contracts until the end of the season. However - the move has been blocked by the Premier league. These moves are being blocked by Bundesliga and Serie A clubs as well and I have to admit that I don't see any sense in that.
I too cannot see any reason why those moves should be blocked, i mean even if they are doing it on the part of sanctions then such moves should be fine as we can take it to be that it is the Russian clubs that are receiving the sanctions as they are going to be losing some of their players to non-Russian clubs for the meantime, so everything still works fine, and i also do not think the Russian clubs are going to receive any payment, so everything is still in favor of sanctions, and i do not also think it is Russian players than can be signed but non-Russian players playing in Russia, thus i would really like to see the reason why they block such moves.
2785  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: March 26, 2022, 04:55:49 PM
Despite Barcelona's outstanding form and can win the remaining 10 games in La Liga, this does not guarantee Barcelona can replace
Real Madrid's position at the top.
Of course, honestly i don't think Barcelona are nursing any hopes of winning the title this season, they just want to win as many games as possible, earn as much points as possible, and finish as high as possible, i think they will finish in 2nd position come the end of this season, and it is a good feat for them if you consider how poor they were previously this season, and the position they occupied in the league some weeks back.

It is important for Barcelona to continue winning, even though they prolly would not win the league, what it will do for them is that it will give them a good morale for next season, if they finish this season on a high, they will have that momentum to resume next season on top form and compete for as many titles as possible.
2786  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Starting my crypto journey, hope I'm in the right place on: March 26, 2022, 02:14:35 PM
Is this section the right place for a newcomer to ask questions because I don't know, but it says beginners and help, hope I'm right?
Of course, this is the correct section for newcomers to air their inquiries.
Is there anyway to increase my IQ about which crypto project to invest money on?
Now the term "crypto project" is very broad, i am guessing you know there are quite a lot of "crypto projects", some of which would be successful only in the short term due to hype, others are pump and dump projects/shitcoins/scamcoins, etc, there is absolutely no way to wrap your head around it and know the one that is going to be successful. But if you narrow down your choices, i can suggest Bitcoin to you, it is nothing like most of those coins i mentioned above, it is a long term project with an actual utility, it is neither a get rich quick scheme as well, so as an investor you will have to be patient. As a beginner, you can read this thread for a start, there are many links that will be of help to you there:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5156874.0
I make 400$ every month and I can save up to 300$ per month what exact amount is good for crypto project investment?
If you make a decision to invest in Bitcoin, then i would tell you that there is no fixed amount that is good for investment since we all earn differently, but since you make around $400 monthly, then the DCA (Dollar cost averaging) technique would prolly be best for you to start up your portfolio, what is DCA? Read it here:
https://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/dollarcostaveraging.asp
Can I ask a question about a crypto project on here? For example DASH?
I personally do not know anything about this project, and i do not trust it as it falls under the mass of "crypto projects" i explained to you above, if you want to find out more about that project, ask in the altcoin discussion section, here is the link:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=67.0
Do you think that crypto will survive 5 years to come?
Like i told you, "crypto" is too broad a term, so many crypto projects would not survive that long cause they are short term projects, but Bitcoin definitely will, read about Bitcoin in the link i sent above to understand.
2787  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tell people about bitcoin but don't force them to invest on: March 26, 2022, 01:43:53 PM
It will be nice to tell people about bitcoin,  but not to force/pressure them to invest , because if investing goes wrong sometimes it is funny to see the reactions of people when money is loss, the loss of money is a case that has ended many good friendship and misunderstanding between family members.
How can one even force another to buy Bitcoin, there is quite a lot of risks inherent in the network that if you do something like that, chances are very high sooner or later you'll be blamed by your 'newly converted' investors when there is a correction/dip/plunge or generally anything that causes them to worry about their funds.

Having said that, research is integral in the Bitcoin network, thus whenever you want to talk to someone about Bitcoin, the best you can do is to provide such individual with materials of different sorts: Books, videos, links etc, for them to go and read about Bitcoin and then make their own personal decision, if they come back to you in the affirmation, then you can go ahead and assist them in Buying their first Bitcoin, pointing out to them which wallet to use or not to use, etc, but the most important point remains that their decision on the network must stem from doing their own personal research, not you trying so hard to convince them. Just as satoshi said:
Quote
If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.
2788  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: March 25, 2022, 08:33:32 PM
According to the result of the match between these two teams, who will be the champion can be determined, this will be one of the most important matches of the year Smiley
I am expecting a footballing spectacle come April 10th at the Etihad when this two teams (City V Liverpool) meet, that game is indeed going to be a turning point in the league, and who knows in whose favor it is going to turn, first of all though, City need to put away Burnley, and Liverpool watford, those games will take place on April the 2nd, if both succeed in getting maximum points, then only one point will separate them as they lock horns in the home of the champions.

City have a pretty impressive record against Liverpool at the Etihad, so they could have a slight advantage, if it were to be at Anfield, a turf where City habitually struggle, then it would have been a very scary game for City fans to look forward to. In my opinion, this two teams played out the most interesting game i have watched in the EPL this season when they faced each other in their first leg encounter at Anfield, a pulsating game that ended 2-2, i am pretty sure this second leg will be no less enthralling and exhilarating to watch.
2789  Other / Meta / Re: Does forum allow referral link? on: March 25, 2022, 06:03:07 PM
As far as i know referral links are not allowed, and the only exceptions i can think of is adding a referral link to your signature if you are on a signature campaign, that is of course if the campaign manager agrees to such.
After i used the search button, i found this, they are old posts, but contains some information on your enquiry:

2790  Other / Meta / Re: skarais - Merit Source Aplication on: March 25, 2022, 05:53:47 PM
Theymos!  Make this man a merit source!!
Lol, i really hope he listens, i am pretty sure Theymos reads through meta at least, so he definitely sees all the request for new merit sources, and there are really some good users in the 'pipeline' waiting to be accepted, OP is definitely one of them. If we are to try and read Theymos' mind as to the reason why he hasn't acted on some of these qualified merit source applications, can we say he is somewhat of the opinion that the merit process/distribution is going on fine and for now there is no need for new additions?

I am absolutely speculating though, since i am neither an admin here, but there must be a reason for the delay eh? Does anyone also think the reason above can be correct, even though i personally do not agree with that, just as The Pharmacist has highlighted i am pretty sure there are MS who aren't as active as they were before and new Merit Sources by 'default' would tend to be more vibrant and eager to hand out merits effectively, finally, we also do not have an overflow of merit sources so adding to them isn't a bad decision anyday, goodluck once again skarais.
2791  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 23, 2022, 10:31:28 PM
Talks and Speculations are everywhere about Ajax coach heading to Manchester United, I hope this are not just rumours but true.
I know Manchester United will get better but not too fast..
Yes, the news is popular in the media for now, i do not know how we can know if the deal is going to happen or not, but what i know is that whatever Manchester United plan on doing, they must get it right, there have been too many mistakes as regards signing managers since Fergie left, and i think this is a make or break moment for the team. He is not the only name in the news of late, there are also speculations of other coaches United are currenly monitoring, we would find out who gets the nod at the end of the season.
2792  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: March 23, 2022, 06:25:26 PM
In my opinion, Liverpool's mentality has the upper hand, because Liverpool have been able to cut the distance of points that had touched 14 points to just one, within three months. I think it will be a motivation for Liverpool
You prolly have a point there, even though i still feel City would win the league in the end. Watching City play in their last EPL game, i think they were more concerned about Liverpool breathing down their necks, rather than concentrating in putting their opponent away, it happens though, when you are at the summit, and a team is putting a lot of pressure on you from behind, you will always have that worried mindset that any slip up would be costly, and honestly that thought alone can affect your game and cost you points.

Having said that, i think this international break would be good for City, they could use it to free up their mind a bit and relax, there is a crunching game against Liverpool in the coming weeks, but before that we play Burnley, we just have to concentrate on the team in front of us and not Liverpool, well till we play them, and we will be just fine.
2793  Other / Meta / Re: Please State What Criteria or Reasons Willing to Give Your MERITS to Someone? on: March 23, 2022, 05:55:13 PM
It looks like the OP got some merit and tips and lessons on how and what to get merit for. But everyone who generously presented him did not explain to him that it would also be good to bestow merits on others. As you can see, the OP hasn't handed out any merits yet.
And as a bad example is contagious, I'm somehow sure that soon you will see a few more newcomers here who are also interested in the topic of merit, and hoping to get upfront just as easily and simply by changing the theme for newbies to META.  Cheesy
Well Pmalek actually did that, i assume you somewhat missed his post above, i will quote it for you below, i am also of the opinion that more users should be encouraged to join in the merit system (giving and receiving), though it is clearly understandable if a user doesn't really care about such, and then users who have such criteria that a user should be involved in the system before earning merits from them could also likewise skip their post in relation to merits, except it is a post of extremely high quality, just as Pmalek highlighted below. Having said that, we will see over the coming weeks if OP is the type that hoards merits; and God Meta has been somewhat free from newbies making a lot of threads about merits, so i really hope you're wrong and we do not go back to that Grin. Here is the post i spoke about earlier:
You are happy, confident, you feel appreciated, and liked when someone merits you, right? You think other people have recognized and appreciated your efforts. Well, I want to see that the people I merit do the same things for others. You have to be part of the system to benefit from it, in my opinion. If you only get merits, but you don't give any to other forum members, you are not part of the system and it's very unlikely you will be merited from me. Exceptions are high-quality posts by members who obviously couldn't care less about the merit system (receiving or giving), and new users (like yourself) who don't have any sMerits to give out. But now that you do, start spreading that feeling of appreciation and respect to other posts that you feel deserve it. Because next time I come across a post by you that I believe should be merited, I am going to check your merit history  Wink.
2794  Other / Meta / Re: Why I love Bitcointalk! on: March 23, 2022, 02:44:05 PM
I also make extra money on the forum through Bounties and Signature campaigns, which has been a lifesaver for me because it's a reliable source of income.
They are a good source of extra income, but i really wouldn't call it a reliable source of income, do not get me wrong, i know some campaigns pay quite well and the value could really be high for some users based on their country of residence, but that doesn't eliminate the 'uncertainty' around campaigns/bounties such as: quite a lot of bounties do not pay their participants, and for the ones who pay, they give out worthless stuff, as for signature campaigns, they can end quite abruptly, with no notice at all, now imagine being on the receiving end of any of these scenarios if you rely solely on one of this source of income.
2795  Other / Meta / Re: Report plagiarism (copy/paste) here. Mods: please give temp or permban as needed on: March 23, 2022, 02:25:23 PM
It seems that we have, but they are not official yet - it seems that one violation of the rules is no longer enough, something will happen after you report 4-5 posts from the same user.
I know there have been quite a lot of complaints of late from active reporters that users aren't getting banned after being reported for plagiarism, but do you think there is actually a new rule to it? Personally i do not think so, i think if there was, the forum would have been updated on the whole matter. Don't you think it could be that most of the mods who handle ban cases have prolly been busy with real life issues and all, maybe that is why they usually miss the first or second report and then act on it when so much of their attention has been drawn to the issue (mind you, i am just assuming that could be it).
2796  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Round of 16! on: March 22, 2022, 11:40:55 PM
I don't think that Manchester City will be in a big trouble against Atletico Madrid in the quarter finals.
I don't think so too, no disrespect to Athletico Madrid but i believe City will be too strong for them and i expect the champions of England to progress to the next round, Athletico will come into the game with a defensive mindset for sure, just as they always do, and i think that will be their own undoing as City will throw everything at them and get a couple of goals. Having said that, if Athletico are to have any chance in this game then they must change their philosophy of parking the bus, if they come into this game with that tactic, they are going to get beat pretty well.
2797  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: March 22, 2022, 06:49:46 PM
Tottenham's problem is that they always rely on Kane and Son to score.
I do not see how that is a problem, the both of them are the most comfortable players in front of goal in the team, and quite rightly they are the two players Conte will want to see the ball on their feet in front of the opposition goal, cause they will more often than not make the net to bulge. Look at it this way: the whole team does their job well, Kane and son combine and score, no problem at all. What i think is Spurs' problem is inconsistency, they find it hard to win numerous games on the spin, they either win today, draw tomorrow, lose in a forthnight, and then win again afterwards, that is being erratic at its best and that is what will cost them a top four finish this season, cause in my opinion, 4th position is Arsenal's for the taking.
2798  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cryptocurrency education in school's curriculum, good or needless? on: March 22, 2022, 06:30:16 PM
(2) create or add to the multiple choices to fresh graduates to pick from due to the dilemma faced by fresh graduates in picking a side hustle while waiting for a job through their certificate.
To be honest i do not really agree with this part, fresh graduates or whosoever doesn't need to learn about Bitcoin in a school to understand the network or to harness its benefits, there are more than a million materials to choose from in order to learn about Bitcoin, there are books, varieties of them for that matter, one is 'Mastering Bitcoin' by Andreas Antonopoulos, there are so many videos on youtube and other platforms as well, there is also this forum and many more.

Having said that, even if this is to be implemented, in some parts of the world it is going to be somewhat difficult to get teachers on the subject, people who do not have sufficient knowledge about Bitcoin could take up the job and start spreading misconceptions and fake theories which will affect prospective learners.

Another thing is safety, when Bitcoin is learnt in physical groups like a school, people could easily lose personal info of their wallet like their seed phrases and thus lose their funds, for example, since the teacher is prolly going to be teaching novices about Bitcoin, he could prolly be a scammer who will teach them how to buy Bitcoins into their wallet, but he himself would keep a copy of their seed phrase, and with that steal funds from the students, maybe i am being paranoid, but it is possible, i believe Bitcoin should be learnt individually, without the help of a personal teacher or mentor.
2799  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: The Number of Crypto Users in Africa Grew By 2,500% in 2021 on: March 22, 2022, 05:58:06 PM
Although, we can get something out there, that the IP addresses are used for the tracking and most pointing to Lagos. Even as I am not in Lagos, my IP address 99% times or more points to Lagos but this does not change the fact that Nigeria is playing high role in crypto adoption in Africa and in the world.
Absolutely, the role played by Nigeria in crypto adoption in Africa cannot be overemphasized, whether the IP addresses indicating Lagos are from other states in Nigeria, that doesn't matter, as long as it is within the shores of our dear country. I expect crypto adoption in Africa (more specifically in Nigeria) to continue growing sporadically, Nigerians for example are very enterprising and industrious people, so it was always expected that we will jump on this network and completely harness its benefits.

If we are to be honest, it is our government that is making things difficult for us and giving us a bad name to the rest of the world, every average Nigerian youth is somewhat creative and curious for knowledge, and i am pretty certain that the highest percentage of Nigerians involved in crypto are the youths, the more the government tries to limit us, the more we find escape routes to success. This growth will definitely continue, as sooner rather than later people who are ambivalent about the network would be convinced to join when they are exposed to its benefits.

And here I am today, officially a Hero Member.
Congratulations mate, users experience different speed levels in their quest for a new rank, yours might have taken quite a while, but now it is finally here i am pretty sure it now feels like the wait was actually worth it. With the introdiction of the merit system ranking up has little or no shortcuts, so a lot of it is on the level of quality displayed by individual users, so well done in getting to this stage. Legendary rank might seem far now, but 'more of the same please' and you'll be there eventually, congratulations once again.
