2781  Economy / Economics / Re: Rising inflation forces investors to look for defensive assets. on: March 27, 2022, 08:47:08 PM
This is thus, making it a safe heaven for investors to hedge their funds right now. Therefore investors are seeing it as digital Gold and it almost taking the role of Gold.
I don't think Bitcoin is a safe haven asset yet, Bitcoin can still be volatile in many circumstances, prolly somewhere along the line it could be a safe haven asset. But that doesn't mean it is not a great hedge for fiat devaluation and depreciation, it is, because even after every correction phase/dip, it always rises back up in the long run and it will even earn you profits on your funds you hedged from inflation in the network.
Literally, some assets has been going down in value including fiat and cryptocurrency due to inflation and other issues around the world.
Inflation has hit fiat currencies really hard on the back of measures employed to curb the covid pandemic many months ago, the ongoing war has made matters even worse as fiat currencies the world over continues to lose its value; but Bitcoin does not seem to have been affected by all of that, since the war started i have not noticed any serious movement in the price of Bitcoin, thus there are many reasons why i will choose it over many assets either as a hedge, investment, currency, etc.
2782  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get merits and what does it do? on: March 27, 2022, 07:59:56 PM
In my profile it shows 0. I recently discovered this forum.
I'm hoping you can help me understand what merit is and how do I get it.
I would not refer to you as a newcomer or a recent user, you have been here since september of last year, 6 months is definitely enough for you to understand quite a lot about the forum including merits which is quite a popular subject around here. Well you seem more concerned with bounty reports/posts as that is all your post history is all about, you will need to change that if you want to start earning merits from users as such posts will get you next to nothing.
2783  Economy / Speculation / Re: $500 for Bitcoin - 2030 on: March 27, 2022, 07:03:11 PM
if you want to invest for long term i suggest be patient and wait until you see a good sign that bitcoin is going up again because if you invested your money immediately without knowing bitcoin will tends to make correction, surely you will regret.
So wait for the right time!
Quite a lot of users here believe everytime is the right time to buy Bitcoin and i kind of agree with them, really you could attempt to wait and make a so called good timing to get in, but it will be to no avail, what is most important is to choose an investment strategy that bests suits you and the amount of funds you have for investment. The DCA strategy for example is great, you can basically just invest at intervals a certain amount you have set aside for it all, and with time you will be growing your portfolio irrespective of the direction the network takes in terms of price movement.
2784  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: March 27, 2022, 06:40:32 PM
Liverpool vs Watford will be the opening match this week. Victory will lead Liverpool to shift Manchester City who is the holder of the top standings. Manchester City itself will play a match against Burnley shortly after Liverpool ended the match. And I'm sure they will take what Liverpool have taken before.
Phew, the games look easy but the pressure is going to be immense, if Liverpool wins and temporarily goes ahead of City before their game against Burnley, then Peps men would be under some serious pressure as they play their own game, i know City are renowned for always having it easy when they face the Clarets, but this could be a whole different situation and the pressure might just get to them.

I am not saying City aren't going to win, i am just certain there is going to be a lot of pressure surrounding City and Liverpool as they play this weekend. And then if both team wins, we now have to wait for the game that can be dubbed the title decider, as 1st and second would meet at the Etihad on April the 10th, what an encounter that is going to be, we live for games such as that and i am sure no football fan would miss it.

Over the last year's, relating from five to six years ago, looking at the best Manager's in bringing young players to stardom, I think Pep Guardiola comes first than any. From Barcelona to Bayern Munich to Manchester City, I think if I should offer an advice here, I'll tell the young and talented yo move to Manchester City.
I have read it a couple of times that a player says he moved to a team coached by Pep majorly because of pep is the coach, so yes i think i can agree with you, his philosophies are second to none, and he has the ability to discover hidden talents in players, even in positions they ordinarily never imagined they will fluorish in. Look at Kimmich at Bayern, Pep came in and completely gave him a new role, one in which be shone outstandingly, Pep is also synonymous with success, so if you play for a Guardiola team, chances are high you'll achieve a great deal of success.

Having said that, it must also be understood that Pep is very demanding as a manager, he tends to push his players to their limits, and you must be ready to follow his instructions to the letter or else you will be left out of the team, but overall playing under Guardiola should be a good experience for most players.

The thing is, all you can do is to provide them with materials that will teach them about Bitcoin, as they read such materials if you yourself are knowledgeable about Bitcoin then you can assist them to understand what they read better, but mind you that you should neither convince nor compel them to join in the network. Here is one of such materials that can be of help:
5 Resources to teach Average Joe about Bitcoin

From your post it is basically clear that your friends understand the Bitcoin network to be a "get rich quick scheme", people with such mindset are very difficult to coach about Bitcoin, they must first of all understand quite a lot about the network or else they will just solely concentrate on trying to make money which will lead to losses in the end cause of their impatience and greed.

Mind you also that you should not take it upon yourself to personally teach people about Bitcoin, you can tell them a thing or two though and allow them do their own research, but do not present yourself as a Bitcoin hodler or investor, you are making yourself open to attacks of many sort, read this thread to understand better:
why it's important to avoid telling everyone about your crypto holdings

The campaign is just fine, i used the search button and above is a few threads similar to yours and there was no problem raised with them as far as i know, your campaign is also in the correct section just like those above, and is likewise paying in Bitcoin; the only problem i could possibly think of would be the sort of review users would be posting, but that should not be a problem as i am pretty sure you will moderate that and ensure volunteers for this review do not post insubstantial stuff, but genuine review of what they experienced while testing the site. I have been on the forum for a while and i have seen this sort of "pay for reviews" a few times without any eyebrows being raised, i expect the same for yours too.
2788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are we just going around in circles? on: March 26, 2022, 07:13:59 PM
ICO never came back, IEO is not trending anymore do you think that metaverse won't vanish in near future? It's like every trending crypto hype will fade away sooner or later and new thing will come around again, are we just going around in circles?.
It has been that way for quite a while now, more often than not it is hype that keeps many of this trends going, when there is no more hype they tend to disappear with the hype. That is the reason why people usually jump on a trend when the hype is still recent and fresh, make profits, pull out and wait for the next one; the thing is, the mindset to approach all of this is a short term mentality, do not think they will last for the long period so you do not get disappointed, make only short term plans as you invest/capitalize on them.
2789  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: March 26, 2022, 06:55:19 PM
I think this is highly unlikely as i do not think the club will want to spend so much during the transfer season especially if they want to retain dembele, because a new contract for him will mean a raise in wages.
I second that too, i think this is just a rumor, as far as i know Barcelona are still in a financial crisis and most of their recent signings had to take paycuts from what they were earning in their previous teams. I think the issue Salah is having with Liverpool now is based on wages, thus there is no way he can move to Barcelona as they would be unable to meet up with his wage demand. Well if it was possible, Salah would be a great addition, he dribbles superbly and has a wicked left foot, not as good as Messi, but it could bring back the Messi feeling to the Camp Nou, but it looks impossible right now that Salah will sign for Barcelona. I actually expect Mo to remain in Liverpool, they can't afford to lose him.
2790  Other / Meta / Re: [Results 2021] Bitcointalk Community Awards 🏆 on: March 26, 2022, 05:44:48 PM
First of all the biggest 'congratulations' and thank you should go to icopress for the success of yet another Bitcointalk community awards, thank you GazetaBitcoin as well for your assistance in the success of all of this, i am pretty sure it wasn't easy as i know we all have busy schedules in real life, so to make out time to ensure this was a success basically means you love Bitcointalk and that is indeed appreciated by me and other users as well i am sure.

Congratulations to all of the winners, i do not take this to be just a mere voting, but a valuable recognition in the midst of many in the forum, without the participants and their votes this would not be possible too, so thank you to all who participated in one way or another, and i hope we have many more reasons to unite as a community and have 'fun' such as this and in other ways possible going forward, thank you all once again.

The same thing you fit do with other altcoins as well. 99% of altcoins na scams and the other 1% wey dey try, big possibilities dey say dem no go dey around in the next 5/10 years. When we enter this market na privacy coins, masternode etc they reign but now nothing come out their side compared to defi, metaverse etc altcoins na majorly short term investment and no ever use Bitcoin buy instead use ur fiat like that and always they secure Bitcoin (very important).

I don dy talk am since say no be say altcoins no good oh, e good well well, e fit to give you plenty ROI asap, but na short term projects them be and many of them follow be scam, but if you be long term investor e no still bad to buy some altcoins oh, but make sure say you treat am as short term investment, wetin i mean be say make you sell am as soon as you don collect ROI, no talk say you wan hold am for long period. But as for your Bitcoin, treasure am wella, accumulate more and make sure say you hold am for long period as na long term investment wey e be oh.
2792  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: March 26, 2022, 05:06:38 PM
Burnley tried to bring Victor Moses from Russia based on that new rule saying that players from Russian clubs can be signed on a part-time contracts until the end of the season. However - the move has been blocked by the Premier league. These moves are being blocked by Bundesliga and Serie A clubs as well and I have to admit that I don't see any sense in that.
I too cannot see any reason why those moves should be blocked, i mean even if they are doing it on the part of sanctions then such moves should be fine as we can take it to be that it is the Russian clubs that are receiving the sanctions as they are going to be losing some of their players to non-Russian clubs for the meantime, so everything still works fine, and i also do not think the Russian clubs are going to receive any payment, so everything is still in favor of sanctions, and i do not also think it is Russian players than can be signed but non-Russian players playing in Russia, thus i would really like to see the reason why they block such moves.
2793  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: March 26, 2022, 04:55:49 PM
Despite Barcelona's outstanding form and can win the remaining 10 games in La Liga, this does not guarantee Barcelona can replace
Real Madrid's position at the top.
Of course, honestly i don't think Barcelona are nursing any hopes of winning the title this season, they just want to win as many games as possible, earn as much points as possible, and finish as high as possible, i think they will finish in 2nd position come the end of this season, and it is a good feat for them if you consider how poor they were previously this season, and the position they occupied in the league some weeks back.

It is important for Barcelona to continue winning, even though they prolly would not win the league, what it will do for them is that it will give them a good morale for next season, if they finish this season on a high, they will have that momentum to resume next season on top form and compete for as many titles as possible.
2794  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Starting my crypto journey, hope I'm in the right place on: March 26, 2022, 02:14:35 PM
Is this section the right place for a newcomer to ask questions because I don't know, but it says beginners and help, hope I'm right?
Of course, this is the correct section for newcomers to air their inquiries.
Is there anyway to increase my IQ about which crypto project to invest money on?
Now the term "crypto project" is very broad, i am guessing you know there are quite a lot of "crypto projects", some of which would be successful only in the short term due to hype, others are pump and dump projects/shitcoins/scamcoins, etc, there is absolutely no way to wrap your head around it and know the one that is going to be successful. But if you narrow down your choices, i can suggest Bitcoin to you, it is nothing like most of those coins i mentioned above, it is a long term project with an actual utility, it is neither a get rich quick scheme as well, so as an investor you will have to be patient. As a beginner, you can read this thread for a start, there are many links that will be of help to you there:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5156874.0
I make 400$ every month and I can save up to 300$ per month what exact amount is good for crypto project investment?
If you make a decision to invest in Bitcoin, then i would tell you that there is no fixed amount that is good for investment since we all earn differently, but since you make around $400 monthly, then the DCA (Dollar cost averaging) technique would prolly be best for you to start up your portfolio, what is DCA? Read it here:
https://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/dollarcostaveraging.asp
Can I ask a question about a crypto project on here? For example DASH?
I personally do not know anything about this project, and i do not trust it as it falls under the mass of "crypto projects" i explained to you above, if you want to find out more about that project, ask in the altcoin discussion section, here is the link:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=67.0
Do you think that crypto will survive 5 years to come?
Like i told you, "crypto" is too broad a term, so many crypto projects would not survive that long cause they are short term projects, but Bitcoin definitely will, read about Bitcoin in the link i sent above to understand.
2795  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tell people about bitcoin but don't force them to invest on: March 26, 2022, 01:43:53 PM
It will be nice to tell people about bitcoin,  but not to force/pressure them to invest , because if investing goes wrong sometimes it is funny to see the reactions of people when money is loss, the loss of money is a case that has ended many good friendship and misunderstanding between family members.
How can one even force another to buy Bitcoin, there is quite a lot of risks inherent in the network that if you do something like that, chances are very high sooner or later you'll be blamed by your 'newly converted' investors when there is a correction/dip/plunge or generally anything that causes them to worry about their funds.

Having said that, research is integral in the Bitcoin network, thus whenever you want to talk to someone about Bitcoin, the best you can do is to provide such individual with materials of different sorts: Books, videos, links etc, for them to go and read about Bitcoin and then make their own personal decision, if they come back to you in the affirmation, then you can go ahead and assist them in Buying their first Bitcoin, pointing out to them which wallet to use or not to use, etc, but the most important point remains that their decision on the network must stem from doing their own personal research, not you trying so hard to convince them. Just as satoshi said:
Quote
If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.
2796  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: March 25, 2022, 08:33:32 PM
According to the result of the match between these two teams, who will be the champion can be determined, this will be one of the most important matches of the year Smiley
I am expecting a footballing spectacle come April 10th at the Etihad when this two teams (City V Liverpool) meet, that game is indeed going to be a turning point in the league, and who knows in whose favor it is going to turn, first of all though, City need to put away Burnley, and Liverpool watford, those games will take place on April the 2nd, if both succeed in getting maximum points, then only one point will separate them as they lock horns in the home of the champions.

City have a pretty impressive record against Liverpool at the Etihad, so they could have a slight advantage, if it were to be at Anfield, a turf where City habitually struggle, then it would have been a very scary game for City fans to look forward to. In my opinion, this two teams played out the most interesting game i have watched in the EPL this season when they faced each other in their first leg encounter at Anfield, a pulsating game that ended 2-2, i am pretty sure this second leg will be no less enthralling and exhilarating to watch.
2797  Other / Meta / Re: Does forum allow referral link? on: March 25, 2022, 06:03:07 PM
As far as i know referral links are not allowed, and the only exceptions i can think of is adding a referral link to your signature if you are on a signature campaign, that is of course if the campaign manager agrees to such.
After i used the search button, i found this, they are old posts, but contains some information on your enquiry:

2798  Other / Meta / Re: skarais - Merit Source Aplication on: March 25, 2022, 05:53:47 PM
Theymos!  Make this man a merit source!!
Lol, i really hope he listens, i am pretty sure Theymos reads through meta at least, so he definitely sees all the request for new merit sources, and there are really some good users in the 'pipeline' waiting to be accepted, OP is definitely one of them. If we are to try and read Theymos' mind as to the reason why he hasn't acted on some of these qualified merit source applications, can we say he is somewhat of the opinion that the merit process/distribution is going on fine and for now there is no need for new additions?

I am absolutely speculating though, since i am neither an admin here, but there must be a reason for the delay eh? Does anyone also think the reason above can be correct, even though i personally do not agree with that, just as The Pharmacist has highlighted i am pretty sure there are MS who aren't as active as they were before and new Merit Sources by 'default' would tend to be more vibrant and eager to hand out merits effectively, finally, we also do not have an overflow of merit sources so adding to them isn't a bad decision anyday, goodluck once again skarais.

Talks and Speculations are everywhere about Ajax coach heading to Manchester United, I hope this are not just rumours but true.
I know Manchester United will get better but not too fast..
Yes, the news is popular in the media for now, i do not know how we can know if the deal is going to happen or not, but what i know is that whatever Manchester United plan on doing, they must get it right, there have been too many mistakes as regards signing managers since Fergie left, and i think this is a make or break moment for the team. He is not the only name in the news of late, there are also speculations of other coaches United are currenly monitoring, we would find out who gets the nod at the end of the season.
2800  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: March 23, 2022, 06:25:26 PM
In my opinion, Liverpool's mentality has the upper hand, because Liverpool have been able to cut the distance of points that had touched 14 points to just one, within three months. I think it will be a motivation for Liverpool
You prolly have a point there, even though i still feel City would win the league in the end. Watching City play in their last EPL game, i think they were more concerned about Liverpool breathing down their necks, rather than concentrating in putting their opponent away, it happens though, when you are at the summit, and a team is putting a lot of pressure on you from behind, you will always have that worried mindset that any slip up would be costly, and honestly that thought alone can affect your game and cost you points.

Having said that, i think this international break would be good for City, they could use it to free up their mind a bit and relax, there is a crunching game against Liverpool in the coming weeks, but before that we play Burnley, we just have to concentrate on the team in front of us and not Liverpool, well till we play them, and we will be just fine.
