2781  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Chili – 30+GH/s BFL based Bitcoin Miner Assembly on: December 18, 2017, 01:10:44 AM
i still have a bunch of these and arctic accelero ii coolers if someone want.
I wonder if they would be profitable at current mining rates.... Monarchs are, which is beyond insane as are Neptunes. Maybe an underclocked chili could do it. Maybe I should dig mine out and stick a water block on it to see what happens......
There's an incoming difficulty adjustment around 20% upwards in a few hours and probably more upwards difficulty adjustments in the future as the price of BTC continues upwards. It is slightly profitable to run a Monarch at $.10/kWh now, but it won't be in the future and the same'll probably go for these Chilis. I really wish miners these days were as customizeable as the Chilis though.
2782  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining on a mobile phone? on: December 17, 2017, 03:52:59 PM
Absolutely not worth it. Most smartphones have horrible cooling systems and the CPU/GPU inside isn't made to be stressed at 100% all of the time. You can run them at one thread or a couple, but unless you're trying to 'learn' how to mine, you won't make any meaningful amount from mining on your phone. Same goes for laptops and mobile devices, don't mine on them.
2783  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: BITMAIN DEC L3+ DELAY? on: December 17, 2017, 02:23:19 AM
I bought 5 units in the Dec 21-29 batch and mine shipped 9 days ago and I've had them 5 days now... No idea why they shipped them early!

They didn't ship my S9's early though  Sad
Probably because they're mining with it themselves right now or something of the sort. Wouldn't be surprised as profitability has skyrocketed on BTC and these miners are now hard to get even at 3-4x their original value.
2784  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitcoin future Difficulty level on: December 17, 2017, 02:14:59 AM
Bitcoinwisdom has and had been flawed for several weeks now, possibly due to the way they collect their data. They used to have legitimate and accurate difficulty calculations but not anymore. BTC.com does provide difficulty information and future stats, as well as difficulty periods in the past and how much difficulty changed during those times. It's predicted right now to be around a 19% increase.

TL;Dr bitcoinwisdom is broken ATM and no longer accurate. You need another source.
2785  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Monero mining on: December 16, 2017, 02:53:15 PM
You found the hashrate of a 580 for ETH. For XMR they usually don't go above 1000h/s, Vega is what you want for XMR if you can get your hands on them. A Vega 56 can hash near ~1900H/S with the right miner and mods.
2786  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9... Can I run just 1 or 2 blades? on: December 15, 2017, 01:55:42 PM
Yeah... Seemed like a short.  I'll look.  Is that a warranty thing? Also is warranty process even worth it?  Im in the US, I've heard of a place in Colorado, anyone have experience with them?

Fred
Yes, that is Bitmainwarranty that also sells parts and hosts miners (I have a couple S7s hosted with them hashing away with no downtime). They are a paid repair service IIRC (I also remember someone saying they are transitioning to becoming an official repair service for Bitmain) but there's been mostly positive reviews of them from what I can tell. Better than shipping a miner to China where they really don't do jack shit.

It's really up to you, I'd suggest just contacting them and getting a repair quote and seeing if it isn't too much money to get the blade back up and running.
2787  Economy / Digital goods / Re: HIGH QUALITY ULTRA-CHEAP VPS HOSTING! on: December 15, 2017, 01:05:50 AM
Took a vouch copy of a VPS from this guy and forgot to review it until today. Specs look good with a ~2.6GHz Xeon processor and great connection speeds. Should be aquedate for any use, and OP is very responsive with any issues that may arise. Had a minor issue with my VPS but OP messaged me quickly and fixed the issue with no problem.
2788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Does mining in America die with net neutrality? on: December 14, 2017, 09:32:36 PM
There's very little reason right now for ISPs to go after crypto miners. They generally don't use a whole lot of bandwidth and are not a huge threat to the companies at this point in time. Not much will change, the story about net neutrality has been blown massively out of proportion and exaggerated way too much, though there is truth in many things. Can things change? Yes, but it will probably not be instantaneous.
2789  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: antminer s5 performance questions on: December 14, 2017, 09:22:42 PM
In addition, Hotmine kits are pretty difficult to get ahold of even if you have the money for the minimum order amount; many people have tried to contact Hotmine to order the blades and in most cases there was no response. Sidehack also has planned to manufacture Bitfury S1/3/5 upgrade blades in the future, but it will be a while until even the first prototypes are made. Besides these two options there's not much you can do with them to increase mining performance.
2790  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Bitmain AntMiner U1 Tips & Tricks on: December 14, 2017, 12:59:53 PM
Is it possible to mine BTG with Bitmain Miner AntMiner U1 and what software shall I use?
BTG doesn’t even use SHA256, it uses equihash which is the same algorithm used in Zcash. You’ll need a GPU to mine BTG, and information for that is found in the Altcoin mining section of the forum.
2791  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 761 9.5 TH/s 1320watt $1,400 msrp on: December 14, 2017, 01:11:56 AM
Noticed it earlier as well but Canaan have constantly been saying no specs have been released for the A8 yet and there's still none as proven by their products page. Not even price is shown and the page looks like a paste of the A7 page with a few things changed here and there. At least we know it exists for sure now.
2792  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer T9 Bitcoin Miner on: December 13, 2017, 02:16:17 PM
Hi all. I am a newbie here as well as to Bitcoin world. So my question might sound stupid... anyway, I've heard that when the new Antminer comes, the old ones are not working to their full effect, or mining not as profitable as they were previously. So for example, we have now antminer S9 which let's is making a 100$ profit per month, when T9 will come would be S9 less effective just only because there is a new machine out there? So any ideas? Sorry for my bad English. Thanks in advance!!!
If and when a new batch is released, the network hashrate increases due to miners turning on and hashing away, decreasing block times and increasing difficulty. It’s not just a new miner coming out by itself that profitability begins to instantly decrease but more a matter of difficulty too.

What would be the reason that one would purchase this unit over the S9? Reliability is much better or so I have read, but power consumption is not. Would it be the fact that bitmain is not months behind and paying the scalper prices on eBay is absurd? Not trying to start anything here. Just attempting to confirm what I believe the reasons are based on my research. All in all given the retail pricing of both units wouldn't the S9 be the better machine 9 (not considering reliability).

Availability as well. You couldn't get an S9 from Bitmain either they were only releasing the L models for Eth and Ltn and or they were selling them for BCH. Then Canaan released the A7 and people slowly adopted them because they got tired of waiting for s9's. problem is, neither company can supply enough miners and frankly, they both are probably using every miner they make to mine their own BTC.

I don't care what anyone says, but I am a firm believer that's the case. I don't expect it to change for a while. Every now and then they will release a batch to make us think they are trying but they will be limited, go faster than most of us can purchase them etc. Normally, when supply overruns retail the companies will limit the purchase of an item to a few per customer. I don't believe these companies do that. So say they do make 1000 miners for sale. They put them up on their site and two people purchase them all. Leaving the rest of us out of luck.
Well of course they’re not limiting the purchase amounts. It makes more sense for them to prefer to sell in bulk because there’s less hassle than dealing with multiple people. Saves them both time and money and in the end there’s not many advantages selling individual units over bulk.

Bitmain's been ahead but they have horrible customer support and warranty that exists but also sucks. I remember having to ship miners back to China for repairs, etc. Bitmainwarranty in Colorado does repairs now too but they are paid IIRC. Reliability really is a killer for the S9. Avalon units are rock-solid as well and you're paying for a quality product instead of one from a company that is trying to destroy Bitcoin for their own profits (see S2X, Bitcoin Cash). The A7 is also available for cheaper and actually in stock in some places, Parallelminer has the A7 in stock for ~$1800 which isn't a horrible deal the way things are right now.
2795  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9... Can I run just 1 or 2 blades? on: December 13, 2017, 01:11:39 AM
Yes unfortunately. Early batches didn't have autotune but Bitmain just had to add it in, most people like the earlier ones as they had more customizability. Makes the miners more plug and play but I wish they'd just make it optional.
2796  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9... Can I run just 1 or 2 blades? on: December 12, 2017, 10:57:09 PM
You don’t have to but I usually remove the data cables for neatness on blades I’m not using. They’re sort of delicate so don’t just yank em off but it’ll be fine to just disconnect them. You probably won’t break the cables, the hardware will probably fail before them.
2797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Geforce experience on: December 12, 2017, 10:41:13 PM
Have you ever installed GPU drivers before? Like m1n1ng said download the drivers for your specific card and just that. There’s a page where you can select your card series and model and you’ll be able to install the barebones drivers for them. GeForce experience can do some wonky things sometimes, uncheck everything and go into custom. Express installation is filled with nonessential drivers for mining.

Hey Lutpin, I see that the rates where reduced, but why was I paid as a senior rather than a hero?  Sad
Looking at the Google chart for the signature campaign you only had 24 posts count towards your weekly 25, so Lutpin paid .002BTC less. Whenever there's an issue regarding pay looking at the chart first helps a lot.
