Did not watch bronze medal match but I sort of feel like Djokovic lost it a bit after losing chance for gold and entered self destruct mode. After seeing him breaking racket and cursing I decided to try and cash in on his nerves, just placed a bet against him in mixed doubles for high stakes. Have a feeling it will be two very bad days of his career.
You found the right words to describe it, he went into self-destruct mode. Unrecognizable Djokovic: imprecise, slow in moving his legs, exhausted and nervous, so nervous that he threw his racket away for the umpteenth off-ball. It was his brother's turn to retrieve it and bring it back to him. After yesterday's semifinal loss to German Zverev Nole he said that his tennis suddenly collapsed. I guess we all saw that. In a previous post it was mentioned that Djokovic is focusing all his attention on the US Open, but in the bronze medal match you can see that he is very disappointed or rather angry as mentioned in the quote. For me personally, he took the Olympics very seriously and wanted the gold medal. But surprisingly, it didn't work out for me either. But nervously he has already made one or two slips before.

Yup it now really feels like 2018 all over again. Lol. But we’ll see what happens in the race tomorrow. First few laps will obv be crucial for Verstappen. He’s gonna start with the soft tire so that’s two pit stops. Hamilton will start with the mediums, prolly just one pit stop depending on how they react to RBR.
For me it's a very surprising result, I didn't think that Mercedes is so strong in Hungary, even Bottas is ahead of Verstappen. Were there any updates at Mercedes after the break? Now I am even more curious about the race, although the Hungarian track is rather boring and overtaking is almost impossible, without weather influence or safty car the race will end like the qualifying.

Very unexpected that Zverev won against Djokovic, but very good game from Zverev. Zverev gave everything in the 3rd set and took 3 serves from Djokovic. So respect for the performance against the best tennis player of 2021. So Zverev has a medal for sure, only the question gold or silver?

The fight for the world championship is not over, of course, but the disputes over the accident are now officially closed.
Yeah, of course. I just meant that whilst the official investigation is over, the fallout from the crash will no doubt continue for a while. I'm very interested to see how Max responds this weekend, and whether he takes a more measured approach the next time he comes head to head with Lewis. Max is of course still the championship favourite, but he could become destabilised as the sport is mental as well as physical; he does seem to still be fixated on the incident, and feels aggrieved. This weekend is key. For him to maintain his championship advantage, he needs to remain cool. He is more mature now than a few years ago, but this is a crucial learning point in his first championship fight. It may get nasty, as with Hamilton/Rosberg. I also had to think about the Hamilton vs. Rosberg battle, Rosberg once said it is very difficult to fight with Hamilton for the world championship, so not only on the track but also in the head. That's why he retired after his world championship title. Hamilton will do everything possible to get Verstappen off the track and that with all possibilities that might not be completely fair.

It's good that the affair between Hamilton and Verstappen is finally over.
I'm not sure it is over. I don't think Max is mature enough to let this go. He's a great driver, and very fast, but this weekend will be a big test of his professionalism. The fight for the world championship is not over, of course, but the disputes over the accident are now officially closed. Uhm , I wouldn't not call Hungarian circuit a boring one as we had some really nice fights here in the last years so maybe we have the chance to see another good one Sunday.
I saw the FP2 and it looked like Mercedes came with something new as the car was much more balanced but I still don't see them winning the race just because in the last years RedBull with a weaker car always had some epic battles here and wins. Now , with a better car than last year, Verstappen should be on pole-position and also win the race.
Are you sure ? I can't remember a fun Gp in Hungary ever and I watch F1 for more than 20 years now. Anyway look at the weather Sainz said, are they expecting rain? I'm with you, the Hungarian Grand Prix has been boring the last few years, with almost no overtaking and a slow pace. Possibly a change of weather will make the Grand Prix interesting this weekend.

It's good that the affair between Hamilton and Verstappen is finally over.
This weekend, motorsport finally gets back underway with the Formula 1 race in Hungary. The track in Hungary is a rather slow circuit and should suit the Red Bull, possibly also the Ferrari. But only Verstappen or Hamilton have a chance of winning?

Rapid Vienna will have a goal advantage when they play against Sparta Prague today in the 2nd leg, I think if Rapid Vienna are going to adopt a defensive strategy when they play against Sparta Prague today, they might be able to force a draw at the final whistle and progress to the next qualifying round.
Unfortunately, it was a very weak performance by Rapid and they deserved to be eliminated. It is a pity that the chances for promotion and the participation in the Europa League group stage are history. By all other games were no surprises for me, and I would have assumed that Celtic would still turn it around and be promoted. All other results.

The arguments between RedBull (Marko) and Mercedes (Wolf) are becoming ridiculous to me. It was a racing accident with a penalty for Hamilton (even if the penalty was very mild), but RedBull should concentrate on the next races and not kick after the fact. Doesn't it really bring anything?
Full concentration on the next races at redbull would be more sensible...

Qualifying matches this week, with everything still possible for all teams except PSV Eindhoven.
On Wednesday I will keep my fingers crossed for Rapid Wien again, after the very bad game in their own league on Saturday it is also possible that they will lose the away game in Prague.
Great run of fixtures in the champions league qualifier for the coming season; there has been several surprises and shocks and this is the beauty of the game. I am tipping PSV, Malmo, Dinamo, Olympiakos, Cluj, Midtylland, Young boys and Rapid Wien to get on to the next round Are you rooting for anyone ? Sorry for the late reply, I was very busy yesterday and unfortunately didn't catch any of the game. Yesterday Malmö, Dinamo, Warsaw and Ferencvaros progressed, no surprises. Today, I think Olympiakos, Cluj, PSV, Celtic, Young Boys and hopefully Rapid Wien will make it to the next round. For Rapid it will be a difficult game away from home, I don't know the other teams well enough to judge them.

Did anyone else notice the gold medal of the amateur cyclist Kiesenhofer from Austria? https://twitter.com/Eurosport_DE/status/1419222301950812160?s=20She seems to have been completely forgotten by the favourites, as we saw when Annemiek van Vleuten crossed the finish line thinking she had won the gold medal, until she was told that she had come second and not first. This lack of knowledge happens, because in the Olympic Games cyclists do not have a radio. And the support cars are from the organization, which do not share information about the odds and times of other players. So it's normal for her not to know she was in second. It certainly did not appear that a player had left her group and was already going far ahead. Mainly, because it was a very long vulva, almost from the beginning of the race. Congratulations to the athlete from Austria! I also think it's good that the technique around the athlete is not as pronounced as in the Tour de France, for example. For me, it is more the athlete himself who is in the foreground and not the training team that gives the instructions when the athlete should accelerate or tactics. So the athlete who was one minute ahead was simply forgotten and deserved to win with the tactic of trying to ride away at the beginning. The risk was rewarded.

Just heard this from a friend.. Alfa Romeo is after Bottas and Toto Wolff has also supposedly said in one interview that he had a hard talk wlth Bottas. Well then, it looks like Russell is going to Mercedes after all. I’m surprised that I’m the only one surprised. Lol. I really thought Bottas staying at Merc was a lock. I have long thought that Russell will go to Mercedes, Mercedes will build a successor after Hamilton and Russell won't wait forever for a chance, otherwise Russell is probably still at Red Bull. But why would Alfa Romeo be interested in Bottas? Bottas is no better than Raikkönen and Ferrari will want to bring in a young driver if Raikkönen retires. Bottas is not an upgrade for Alfa Romeo and for me not a logical solution for Ferrari/Alfa Romeo. Anyone look SBK at Assen, red flag after a heavy crash from the German Folger yeah I think that Ferrari will move Mick Schumacher from Haas to Alfa Romeo that if Raikkönen leaves Alfa, I think that Mick is not happy at Haas as the car is not up with the standards. The car have been the worst in the track most of the races it occupies the last two finishing positions. That made Ralf Schumacher the ex F1 driver and oncle of Mick to say that Mick should abandons the Ferrari Academy driver and move to RedBull or Mercedes Academy driver programs as Alphatauri have been the strongest among the middle teams. This means that if Ferrari is believing in Mick talents they should upgrade him for a better car that Alfa Romeo currently have. Exactly, but I can imagine Raikkonen driving another year. But it all comes up, and Giovanazzi is also still, just wait and see if he gets a new contract. Unfortunately Alfa is also one of the worst teams and it is also very difficult to drive with the Alfa in the points. You can see it every weekend that it is very difficult with the Alfa to get under the points, without failures and a happy race course it is not possible with the Alfa. With Mick you have to see if he has what it takes for a top team.

Dann heißt es abwarten, hoffentlich geht die Sache gut aus ~.

Just as you write, he is an average driver who is reliable, nothing more, nothing less.
If Rosberg hadn't suddenly ended his career, Bottas would never have got the seat in a top team. For Hamilton, he is the ideal second string, he does what the team says and is not a threat to him in the fight for the world title.
But for Alfa Romeo and the Ferrair family, he has no added value in my opinion.

Anyone look SBK at Assen, red flag after a heavy crash from the German Folger Russell will move to Red Bull you mean? I don’t think so. The interview was more like a message to Merc than a come get me plea for Red Bull. He def wants that Merc seat. Bottas has better reflexes than Raikkonen at this point. Raikonnen will become a danger to himself and everybody around him on the track. And Bottas is a pretty decent driver imho with lots of experience acquired from Mercedes. And check this out. It’s pretty cool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0t9KBQaZyMI've only heard that Russell might be an option at RedBull, but he's a junior Mercedes driver, so it's not easy and I guess the Chance for RedBull and Russell are bed. Why do you think Bottas is better than Kimi? I don't think so, even if Kimi is not the world champion he used to be, but Bottas is not an upgrade for me, I think after next year Kimi will retire and Bottas won't get a contract with any team.

I am happy for the nation Japan that the judoka Takato won gold on the very first day. Of course it's nice to start so successfully as a guast nation. The silver medal was won in the women's event from Japan.
With a total of 40 gold medals in judoka at the Olympics, Japan is the most successful nation.
