open ports on your router or use UPNP to have more wallet connections.
that will bring faster syncing and less likely to generate orphans (when solo mining).
I assume then to open Ports 8252 and 8253 for both TCP and UDP?

8253 is the default p2p port, you need to open that one (or the one you specified in cryptonite.conf) for tcp only.
do not open the rpcport, unless you need it for some special reason.

Thanks for the help Pallas, you are always there Smiley I hope this improves stuff. I test it for another day.

or did u mean open the port which I have specified in my cryptonite.conf?

suprnova sh*t as usual Smiley
I have noticed that the amount of disconnects is usually in direct relation to the amount of hashing power or worker connections to the pool server. There was one particular account that I believe was about 10 million KH/s and a few others at the 5 million mark in the past few days. As of now, those accounts are not there and the pool seems stable for the most part.
Which if based on the past postings, this coin causes high CPU performance, and thus may not be suited for large data centers (unless they get their own pool).

I did give a try with solo mining with a high powered CPU server at home, but does seem that the wallet is too slow to keep up with the blocks. In 48 hours, only two blocks mined, one accepted, one orphaned (with 100 MH/s). Giving a short experiment with AWS for solo mining to see if network connectivity plays a significant factor.

I've tried solomining yesterday. 1st block is after 4 hours, the second after additional 6 hours but was orphaned. then no more for 7 hours. so I was a bit disappointed and went back to suprnova (46 Mh/s). At least now I know that I have a backup plan if suprnova goes down again

+1 for opensource. I recently got interested in OpenCL and would definitely spend some time.

maybe you can try with the stock ethminer. It's open source I think

Are there any guides on how to Solo mine?

I don't know if  Solomining would solve this discrepancy between expectations and actual rewards. I'd like to try it. I was trying to find out what the block reward is but the only info I got was 200 XCN from whattomine.com. I'm not sure if it is up to date though.

With the wallets...

When conducting solo mining operations, the bottleneck in terms of performance is with the wallet in generating blocks correct?
- If so, is this due to CPU limitation, network latency or the coding?
For Pool Mining, is the pool's wallet, still a limiting factor?

In performance, is the QT and Paper Wallet different?

i tried solo and found nothing but orphans  Huh

how long does it take to find a block if you for example solve with 100MH/s?

I'm getting this error whenever I try to run the client. on 2 separate PCs

The error is a failed block read from disk.
It usually happens when the initial sync is interrupted before finishing.
Is this your case?

Not that I can think of. when I start it, the splash screen says "loading block index". I leave it in the background, then it gives that error after a while. btw, the client worked before and downloaded the transactions.

Then probably the block db got corrupted for some reason.
Try running with "-resync" or use a blockchain snapshot, as in the first post.

Thanks, it worked after using the snapshot

And.... the pool is down.

which pool? suprnova is still working. have you managed to create one?
292  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCN] Cryptonite - NEW Thread! | 1st mini-blockchain coin | BOUNTIES! on: June 30, 2017, 12:56:36 PM
Back again,

So, my hashrate is 44mh/s -small equipment- according to whattomine.com I should be mining 27 coins per hour but actually Iäm getting just 18 per hour.. Idk, what could be the reason for that? is it the pool?

thanks,

From where you take that hashrate? Miner or pool side? Thats big difference. How typed pallas whattomine cannot count with orphans, pool luck, diff and other factors.

Those are the readings of the miner. I don't trust suprnova because it shows obviously wrong hashrates. I mean right now it says 63 mh/s and I'm pretty sure 4 GTX 1060 can't do that. I just wanna know if I'm missing something. ist it normal to have such difference -40%- between expectations and results?

something is wrong with suprnova.
with 4 nvidia 1070 local hashrate is around 46mh. win 10 anniversary update. CUDA installed and virtual memory adjusted to 20 - 30 GB
pool hashrate vary between 16 and 63mh.
estimation on statistic/pool 41,881mh    982.268XCN/day
earning Last Hour    13.63484121, that make 327 XCN/day
3 times lower than estimated.
about 7 hours of mining, for test, and 1/3 of expected gain.
i will let them mine for a whole day, but i do not think will be better.

with 4 GTX 1070 you should be mining at around 60mh/s I'm having 4 gtx 1060 and already reaching 46 mh/s

and on suprnova? what hashrate have you?
how many xcn in a day? calculated by you, last 24h, not by the pool.
i use win7, what do you use?

The pool is pretty unstable showing values between 35 and 65 mh/s. I get 400 XCN/day

to see a more stable hashrate (because it is averaged over a longer period) click on "statistics", then "graphs".

Thanks, seems like it's averaging around 40 considering the connection drops

I just calculated the earnings from the last day. exactly 400 XCN/day with reported hashrate from CCminer 43-45.5 mh/s. the estimations were actually 640 XCN/day. Well, the stratum connection goes off sometime but I always keep an eye on it. I don't think the total time offline would more than half an hour during the whole day. still the profit from XCN is higher than ethereum though but I'm a bit disappointed.

I'm back from the holidays and I surely missed some posts.
If someone is waiting for a reply from me (on this post, not by PM, I will manage that asap), please post the question again, thanks.

I'm mining on suprnova.cc pool and transfer my coins to BTER then trade them -haven't done that yet-. the question is, do I ever need cryptonite wallet on my win? and how can I get my wallet address?
299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCN] Cryptonite - NEW Thread! | 1st mini-blockchain coin | BOUNTIES! on: June 23, 2017, 11:57:48 PM
Hello Guys, I'm new to the whole mining thing. So pls bear me with me. I just have 2 questions/problems for now.

1. the new ccminer by djm does not work with me. first it asks for vcruntime140.dll and when I put it in the sam directory as ccminer, it gives me the dead endly error 0xc00007b. is there a fix for that? currently I'm mining with CUDA miner with directcompute 3.5 and getting stable 8 mh/s for GTX 1060. I wanted to update to a newer miner having better hashrates.

2. I'm mining on suprnova.cc pool and transfer my coins to BTER then trade them -haven't done that yet-. the question is, do I ever need cryptonite wallet on my win? and how can I get my wallet address?

Thank u all Wink

Update: CCminer worked after removing vcruntime140.dll from the same directory and installing visual C++ redistributable 2015 for X86 machines -although mine is X64- now each GTX 1060 is mining at 10.5 mh/s
