I still don't get it.
What do you mean by re-financing the property?

Correct me if I am wrong, but it goes like this:

Investors give 40k USD to Branny. Branny buys a house, fixes it up, rents it to a renter. Now Branny has 0 USD but does have a house and a monthly income of (rent). So he goes to the bank and gets a mortgage on the house. Now he has a house, 40k USD and a monthly income of (rent-mortgage payment).

So he starts the cycle over again, Branny buys a second house, fixes it up, rents it to a renter. Now Branny has 0 USD, but does have two houses and a monthly income of ((rent) + (rent - mortgage payment)). He goes to bank for another mortgage, now he has two houses, 40k USD and a monthly income of (2 x (rent - mortgage payment)).

And the cycle can continue until you run out of houses, renters, or credit at the bank.

That's how I understood it too.

logical, but probably too old school approach for bitcoin community  Wink

Hi all, I'm posting this somewhat blind.  (haven't caught up with the last 10 or so pages...)

TheSwede75 and I have talked a bit and here's what we've come up with:

- 3 PM CST/4 PM EST is the cutoff for bidding.  (EDITED!)
- Sometime shortly after that time I will lock the asset.
    - All bids below 0.001 will be thrown out.
    - All bids posted after the cutoff will be thrown out.
- We will then add up all the bids and use the total to create a ratio of number of shares ordered to number of shares available.  (eg, 9,000,000 ordered, 7,000,000 available gives us a ratio of 0.777)
- We will multiply everyone's orders times the ratio and extract a whole number of shares on a per order basis.  The orders will then be filled according to the result at 0.001 BTC.  (regardless of what they actually bid.)
- This will leave some number of shares available due to rounding down to a whole number on every calculation.  We'll figure out a way to deal with these fairly.  Most likely recipients will be chosen at random from the pool of bidders but they will be a very small portion of the overall issue.
- 8 PM CST/9 PM EST we remove the admin lock and everyone can start trading.

Wednesdays are already full days for me with ASICMINER-PT related duties and my day job.  So please be patient today.  Responses to customer service and related requests will unfortunately be delayed significantly so that I can write and test all the code necessary to execute the plan above.

sounds sane
Cheers.

286  Economy / Securities / Re: ALBA - Student rental properties in Aberdeen, Scotland. on: July 29, 2013, 07:24:20 PM
It's worth noting that from the perspective of a Bitcoin investor, all investments of this type represent an unhedged short position in Bitcoin relative to the underlying entity, in this case fiat-denominated real estate and the fiat-denominated future revenue stream. Therefore, they incorporate unlimited risk with respect to appreciation in the value of Bitcoin as expressed in units of the underlying entity.

I'm not saying that necessarily makes it a bad investment, only that for investors looking to grow their Bitcoin-denominated assets, they have to be coming at it with a strongly negative view of the future value of Bitcoin versus sterling-denominated real estate and sterling itself. For investors looking to decrease their Bitcoin holdings anyway, it might be great.

There's more to this line of thought in an article called How to Lose Money with a Bitcoin Investment, Part 2: The Unhedged Short.

it could be true regarding expected future value of bitcoin vs. fiat... but it could be on the other side of the story also some kind of "bridge" between virtual world and fiat world. There is a chance that companies like that will offer in the future rental real estates for bitcoins... someone needs to start. There is also huge possibility of future higher inflation or possible hyperinflation, so it is very early to say if the bitcoin price will rise linear with depreciation of fiats and possible raise of rents due to usual higher rental fees. There is not so much options for pure bitcoin investments yet... just some exchanges, mining...

Hey! Just read you revised business plan. Well done! I have one questions that hope you could answer:

Per your plan, you will sell 70% shares in IPO and you management will only keep 30%. Don't you worry about if someone buy 31% or more and kick you guys out? What make you think that you don't want to ensure an absolute control.

Thanks!

depends on bylaws... in some way it can impossible to kick out somebody even with all 70% shares...

Yeah for sure. I just worry about if this means the management doubt its profitability and just want to liquidate their shares ASAP. You know, if it gonna be huge, only want to keep 30% profits is a little bit strange.

well, with a good accountant, 30% profit could be some way more than 60%  Wink

I think AMC is great for folks who missed Asicminer shares... it is just repeating similar scenario.
That's why I say AMC is the altcoin of ASICMINER - and not in a good way.

I love the analogy.    Smiley

Lightning seldomly strikes at the same spot twice..

not true, each year people dies in a mountain close to my previous place... same part, 5 dead in a 3 years
293  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER Speculation Thread on: July 29, 2013, 08:39:42 AM

It is pretty logical to conclude that the steep gains in AM are in the past. It might be wrong, but I certainly wouldn't fault anyone for coming to that conclusion.

AMC is very risky, though less so than it was in the past. I wouldn't fault anyone for making the move over, at least with some portion of their funds.

No its not "logical to conclude" - you can actually see what you call the "steep gains". The past doesn't need analyzing, except to say the steep gains are there because friedcat has delivered consistently.

What has AMC delivered? A completely balls-ed up IPO, with nobody knowing where the next "share price dump" would happen, and a complete misjudgement of what investors would accept by the owners.

Its very risky because the owners are incompetent and greedy. I'd rather "risk" my shekels on proven competent management that over-delivers.

I think AMC is great for folks who missed Asicminer shares... it is just repeating similar scenario. I am satisfied, I bought AMC shares for 0.0007 mostly, 1000% profit yet, but I do not plan sell. I have also direct AM shares, so I am satisfied with both, nice cashflow each week. I think everybosy should own both shares, they will provide nice returnes and cashflow in the future
294  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] Virtual Community Exchange w/ Options, DRIP, 2FA, API, CSV, etc. on: July 27, 2013, 09:39:04 PM
I found a bug in the value analysis tab. Transferred shares don't show up under it, so it understates the portfolio.

The transferrer has to plug in a value when the transfer is made.  It's on the todo list to let people plug in their own values.  Wink

I made a mistake when I did the AMC-PT mass transfer last night and did not plug in a value for the AMC-PT shares.  Though even if I had it would not have accurately reflected everyone's individual purchases.  Such is the unfortunate nature of the turn-in process.

I'll try to get the editing ability going soon.

Cheers.

I just wanted to write about it... great it should be solved soon
295  Economy / Securities / Re: shares offer in new business on: July 27, 2013, 08:55:48 PM
hi
after alot of thought and consideration i am offering unquoted shares in new business the shares will consist of

40 shares at 0.5btc = 0.5% ownership and
29 shares at 1btc = 1% ownership

totalling 49% ownership

the business

i am starting a bitcoin savings which will offer savings account, foreign exchange, loans

the idea is to make using bitcoins online easier.

thats the bases for the business

i do not expect people to jump in with there coins straight away i will do what i can myself the share may change in future depending on demand

each share holder will get a contract which will set out all the requirements and commitments on both sides.

this is not a loan and is not refundable but money is made from profits and possible future selling of the shares at a possible profit

you got drunk?

People: What I ask for is a petition to our Bitcoin stock exchanges to allow stocks download to our PCs.

Petition to Bitcoin stock exchanges:

I ask you to find a decentralized solution for investors to be able to store our stock shares offline, in case of catastrophe and if this site goes down.

One possibility: Investigate "colored BitcoinX" to download stock shares to our computers and store offline, like Bitcoins. It allows to "paint" fractional bitcoins into IOUs, stocks and financial assets and will write our asset possessions right into the block-chain.
Another option, is to develop a new block-chain for stocks and other assets.

This will greatly reduce shareholder risks, -and- allow investors to invest more money.
(The goal is to proof the exchanges vs. government regulatory attacks, hackers, and to keep our freedom)

-Technologov

very good idea, espcially for those exchanges run by Americans
