282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to complete a old bitcoin transfer from 2013 in the easiest way? on: November 25, 2017, 07:01:33 AM
In the autumn of 2013 I downloaded a bitcoin wallet (Bitcoin QT v0.8.5-beta) to my laptop and buyed half a bitcoin. The wifi I then used was not fast, and I therefore gave up the downloading of the blockchain after some hours.

I opened the same wallet these days, and I see I then had downloaded about 1/15 of the blockchain (222 weeks behind). I read some place that the blockchain now is about 1 TB big, and I have only 724 GB free space on my harddisk on my laptop.

I now had the downloading of the blockchain going for about 2 hours, and it is now standing at 224 weeks behind, and there is now a message in my wallet that says: URGENT: Alert key compromised, upgrade required

So I now need advice for how I can recieve my bitcoins in the simplest possible way for a newbie like me  Grin and hopefully not loose my bitcoins  Grin.

My provisional plan for doing this is to first make a backup of my Bitcoin QT wallet on a pendrive. Then update the Bitcoin QT wallet to the latest Bitcoin Core wallet, and then download the Electrum wallet and sweep over the private keys from the Core wallet to the Electrum wallet. Where is the weakest point of this plan? And is there a better way to do it?

Can I assume the old fee from the sender now is way too low? Is it then possible that the sender can repeat the sending with higher fee (because I assume this is the easiest way out)?

My  Bitcoin QT wallet is encrypted, but I am not shure I have the right pasword, and I do not find a place in my wallet to test it out. Do I need my password in this plan?

you can download the blockchain in OTHER computer systems.

287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin = Laundering on: November 25, 2017, 06:12:38 AM
Scare tactics by bank and government. Bitcoin is the nuclear weapon to existing financial system. We are getting a lot of services to use bitcoin like fiat money. By the end of 2018, this will happen in most of the liberal world. Banks can shove their fiat.

but they start to control it by controlling Exchanges! the solution is only trust able exchanges

291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How fast Bitcoin is spreading. on: November 25, 2017, 04:35:47 AM
So today one of my teachers came to me after school. She and some of her colleagues talked about ways that they can invest their money and save up (as teachers in South-Africa aren't really paid well) one of them then mentioned Bitcoins and how Cryptocurrencies are showing very high growth. Then some or other teacher mentioned that I have some knowledge about Bitcoin (still have no idea how they knew that) But anyway long story short- Tomorrow I am doing a presentation for all my school's staff +/- 50 people about Cryptocurrencies, and then possibly to the whole school.
Yeah, just some short story I thought I would share, about a practical example of how Bitcoin is reaching the masses.

tell theme about BTC growth as well as it's very bad crashes. they must have information about growth and it's falls. then they can decide about invest on BTC.

tell about it's risks, wallet risks about exchanger risk, scam exchaners and so on...
292  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you Panic? on: November 25, 2017, 02:28:44 AM
Whether its bitcoin trading or altcoin trading, there is bound to come a time when your investment is getting dumped badly, and its panic time.
How do you panic? Does that really make you panic and do you take decisions that you actually regretted later? Or do you keep calm and HODL?
What makes you panic and how do you react to it?

it is depending of cryptocurency that i bought it. in BTC i keep my cliam and in other i invest the condition of that then decide to sell or hold it. i write a book a bout this issue.

296  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is 1000 btc Possible on: November 25, 2017, 01:12:25 AM
Is it possible to earn 1000 or atleast 100 bitcoins with trading Altcoins. If I buy some bitcoin at cheaper rate today and it's price goes up in future?Which alt you think has potential to make me 1000 btc

I think you must study about altcoin technologies to answer this question. som alts have extreem potential but it is not certainly because a problem in team or project idea could cause crash on coin price.
297  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Day trade or Hodling on: November 25, 2017, 12:43:35 AM
I would just like to hear your opinions, Which is more profitable, Day Trading where you can profit through buying the dips and selling when it pumps repeatedly, or Long term HODLing where you buy the dip and only sell it when it goes up 5 to 10 times its price value?

It is depend on ur strategy. I buy and hold some coins for long term and some others for daily tradings. you must choice ur strategies.
298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin replace gold? on: November 24, 2017, 11:47:43 PM
Gold in general is no better. The value of gold is nothing more than a result of a global consensus - at the moment everyone agrees to consider gold a measure of value, simply because this measure is in some form or another necessary. If we assume a utopian situation, that tomorrow everyone agrees that gold is not such a measure, then it will be good only for the production of quality wires and trinkets.
The btc is gaining momentum for exactly the same reason - the global consensus towards the btc is constantly being strengthened. In this case, unlike gold, the cue-ball is not only a measure of value, but also a settlement system, and gold is not a competitor for this parameter.

Gold could not replaced with BTC. but BTC for 10 to 20 years in future can put top of all valuable goods.
299  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best exchange for crypto-currencys? on: November 24, 2017, 10:24:38 PM

300  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin is a good investment now, because... on: November 24, 2017, 10:35:57 AM
almost crash is often inevitable but, BTC is grater than crashes. It is possible to crash BTC, but not in near future.
