281  Economy / Services / Re: John (John K.)'s escrow service (previously known as johnthedong) on: July 05, 2013, 03:04:43 AM
i'm a little confused.

so what are the steps involved in you being providing the escrow service? how are the checks and balances protect both parties?
as in, how do we know it is definitely you we are sending the bitcoins/money to and how would u know who sends it to you?

if you can provide me with more detailed information, i can draw up a simple diagram to illustrate to everyone.

When is this going to close?

is it cheaper if you ship it to Singapore (next door) ?

Do you accept paypal???
284  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [AVALON] - I got my ASIC Thread (Batch #2) on: July 04, 2013, 08:16:16 AM
Hi guys

If I bought a pre order for batch 2 for an avalon 65gh/s
How long would it take to be shipped?  (Roughly)

Are all the pre orders for batch 2 settled or shipped already?
285  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ASIC Mining Rigs - anyone heard of them? on: July 01, 2013, 09:29:16 AM
seems like they are preparing to ship in aug iirc

any idea if they reliable or know something about them?

Yes, avalon is a good company with good chips to buy.

Some of those Asic miners have already been shipped and are currently being shiped. There are also people building custom open source miners that use the Avalon Asics. I myself am designing a board that can be populated with these chips and put in a network rack. Sure with I could shake this newb status, 4 hours takes so long  Undecided

sorry I meant this site. not BFL

288  Other / Beginners & Help / graphics card keeps crashing during bitcoin mining/opening folders,etc on: June 28, 2013, 09:34:19 AM
i;m using a 6990 on 11.6 drivers running at 840/1250

power supply is a seasonic x750

previously i was running at 880/1250 (bios switch 2) for a few days and one day it just keeps crashing within mins of mining, i reckon it's due to the psu because 1 review site says that a 6990 running at 880/1250 at load draws 660w. plus the temps were frequently above 90 or 95C

so i ran it at 830/1250 and it was fine. so manually overclocked it back to 840/1250 and today it keeps crashing for no reason again. i kept the temps below 90 or 85 if possible as much as i can by using fans to direct cooler air to the pc.

the gpu-z's logs shows the following results.
800mhz changes to 0.4mhz
mem clock 1250 changes to 3200mhz
temps 81 changes to -1 C
fan speed 30 changes to 100%
fan rpm 3700 changes to 0
temp 2,3,4 80 changes to 32767C
vddc changes from 1.12v to -
vrm temp 78C changes to -

just a moment ago, while it was mining along fine, all i did was open a folder on the desktop and the system crashed again.

when i tried to downclock back from 840 to 830 using sapphire trixx, it says

amd ultra low power state is enabled for this cf configuration. overclocking a ULPS enabled card will crash this system.
go to settings, disable ulps and restart system to enable OC.

i downclocking, not overclocking!
289  Other / Beginners & Help / abrupt shutdown during bitcoin mining on: June 18, 2013, 04:00:48 PM
my system specs
amd 6990. 880/1250 stock volts/
aircooling.
amd 11.6 drivers

for some reason it seems to have some sort of a partial crash during mining after a few minutes, anything from 3mins to 15+mins. it's not like I tried to play a video file or anything that directly triggered the crash.

what happens is that, the screen goes blank, gpu fan spins at idle instead of load speed, the motherboard's debug led shows AO (normal)

using msi afterburner's monitoring software, i noticed when it crashes, the gpu temp falls from 80+  to -1 on both GPUs.
fan speeds jump from 98% to 200%
gpu usage jump from 98% to 200%
gpu rpm jump from 3000+ rpm to 3889967360.000
core clocks frm 880 to 13.578 on both gpus.

or did mining/i somehow killed the gpu?

290  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: why does my pc seem freeze everytime i try to playback a video file while mining on: June 15, 2013, 06:33:20 PM
i've already install flash software so it shouldnt be an issue.
furthermore, i can playback flash files or even those stupid flash adverts when i am not mining.
same goes for video playback.

Then the issue is that you're mining (using all your video card) and then trying to use more of the video card. It can only support so much.

Set your intensity down to like 4 (sha) or 12 (scrypt) and you should be fine. I do that for gaming as well.

alright then.
let me google for info on that because i've no idea how to use this cgminer sw.

at one point, it even freezes up when i tried launching sapphire trixx
292  Other / Beginners & Help / why does my pc seem freeze everytime i try to playback a video file while mining on: June 15, 2013, 06:09:44 PM
i notice my pc always freezes up whenever i try to playback a video file/flash file or anything while mining.

ordinary internet surfing is fine. it seems gpuz also has the same conflict with mining.

but strangely, msi afterpower, sapphire trxx software works fine.

amd 6990, running at 880/1250 (overclocked bios)

cgminer version is 3.2.1

ati drivers version 11.6
293  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Cgminer suddenly not responding/mining on: June 15, 2013, 05:08:10 PM
My hypothesis is that one core gets the cool air from the fan, the other core gets the air that's already been heated by the first GPU core. Either way, it's still high. I'd set the fan speed to max at first, if you can handle the noise, great, leave it there. But monitor the temperatures first, and if you can't handle the noise, then slowly lower the fan speed, but keep it so that neither core goes above 85C.

Also monitor VRM temps, those might be too high too. Monitor them with GPU-Z, which can be downloaded here. http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/

the 6990 has a central fan so by right both gets equally cooled air.

strangely, the gpuz doesnt like cgminer or vice versa
when i start gpuz while cgminer is working the whole system freezes.
294  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Cgminer suddenly not responding/mining on: June 15, 2013, 04:46:01 PM
oops

anyway I've set it at auto fan speed and 880/1250 so the temps are back at 81/95.5degC

fan speeds are probably at 100% now

1 thing i dont understand is, it shows
GPU 0 80.0  30%
GPU 1 95.0   5000rpm

what is 30%??
why is there such a  temp difference between both cores?
295  Bitcoin / Mining support / Cgminer suddenly not responding/mining on: June 15, 2013, 04:20:22 PM

some background on my system

amd 6990, running at 890/1250 (overclocked bios)

vddc is 1170 (reduced from 1175) temps are at 103/95degC (from cgminer)
room temp is ard 27-28degC.

cgminer version is 3.2.1

ati drivers version 11.4

I noticed everytime I try to run it at 900 or 895mhz on gpu, the cgminer client seems to hang or stop mining after a few mins. rest of my system is responsive and I can restart cgminer again but problem comes back as well.

What's the reason(s) for this?
gpu clock speed too high? or vddc too low?
296  Other / Beginners & Help / btcguild's pool hashing speed has dropped drastically. why so? on: June 12, 2013, 04:18:17 AM
when i first started a while ago, it was 35-36,000 Gh/s
now it's ~29,000Gh/s

it is good for those on gpu/bitcoin? did everyone pop over to litecoin instead?
297  Other / Beginners & Help / verification failure issues with GUIminer and amd 6990 running on single GPU on: June 08, 2013, 10:37:14 AM
I am running a single amd 6990 and guiminer(2012-11-18)

Win 7 pro, catalyst 13.4. 6990 running on stock clocks.

I noticed my GUIminter output is only 350Mhash which means it's running on a single gpu. the Console also keeps telling me "verification failure...."

Gpu-z says crossfire is enabled but when i checked the temps/clock speed on each of the gpu, again it is obvious only a single gpu is hashing. Amd catalyst software also states the same thing.

Before posting this, I've tried uninstalling and running 11.4, uninstalling SDK and running version 2.4, 11.6, 11.8, 12.6,12.8, 12.10 and 13.4
except for 13.4, all of them gave me problems like CGminer/guiminer crashing upon startup or not detecting any GPUs.

on 13.4 CGminer always crashes after trying to login.

The best part, the hashing score is not showing on the pool's dashboard, so it's as if my amd card is mining for nothing.

I just noticed something. I am able to run CGminer with 2 tabs running at the same time, 0-0 and 0-1 (both with same username) but they have different hash rates, 350Mhash and 2.2mhash/s
