There are at least 5coins that are making 15-24$ on 1080ti right now.  Wink
Trashcoins?

284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CPU mining 2017? on: December 29, 2017, 03:47:13 AM
So many wrong posters here saying that CPU mining is not profitable. If you have a good CPU and do your research you can make $2+ per day after power costs; even $1 a day after power costs is worth it for a part that you need to have anyways. I would not build an entire PC for CPU mining only, but if you need a PC for other tasks, or are building a mining rig it's worth considering buying a good CPU in order to mine with it. The AMD Ryzen series are wonderful CPU miners and can pay for themselves as quickly as some GPUs you may buy to mine with.
This guy gets it.   Wink

IME memory speeds have minimal effect on lyra2z.  I tried boosting mine from -400 to 0 and it did nothing for hash rate.

YMMV I guess.

Zcash has seen a run up in value. Makes me think about switching back now that xzc has gotten harder. Thing is wtm still makes it look less attractive.
287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 26, 2017, 02:12:20 PM
Well thats a funny question because hash rate varies from card to card.....Despite they a all the same and with absolute identical settings and everything, my best card returns back about 3300 kH/s and above,  and my worst one about 3230 kH/s and it wont go more because crashes the system....strange - I guess its just like humans - one better than other Smiley))
Agree I have two 1080ti.  One is an aorus extreme and is overclocked out of the box.  100% TDP -400 memory and +0 core it gets 3250 kh/s.  My evga sc2 100% TDP -400 memory and a +60 core gets 3250 kh/s.  I am unable to get 3300 per card like some people are the aorus has no more room and crashes if I put much more clock on it.  I haven't tried to go further with the evga yet.

Difficulty still creeping up there on xzc.  Almost 22000 now.  Has jumped up a lot in the last week.

Damn.  I may have to try removing the stock cooler and re-mounting.  I used this stuff when I put the amd stock (wraith spire) cooler on there.

http://gelidsolutions.com/thermal-solutions/thermal-compound-gc-extreme-10g-2/

And I'm seeing 75c load temps now.  That seems pretty terrible for a ryzen 1700 at stock settings.

I must've messed up somehow.  The case has excellent airflow so I know that isn't an issue.

Hey thanks for the tips guys - much appreciated!  Smiley

Right now I'm running a B350 tomahawk (MSI) with both GPU slots running a 1080ti.  I'm tempted to pick up a cheap 6gb 1060 and run it in a riser but haven't done enough research yet.  There is one pci-e slot left on the motherboard I could exploit.  Only running a 850W psu right now though so that could be an issue if I try to go further with what I've got.

I'll see if I can locate the d/l link for the cpuminer-opt-3.7.7 and have a go with a little exta mining via CPU.   Grin

Merry christmas to everyone in the thread and have a good holiday today.

Yah difficulty is creeping up there for XZC.  It is tough to give up on it as the power consumption and configuration is a plus as pointed out by betiteh0777.  XZC seems like a good potential candidate to hold long term to me.  I'm curious to see where it is in 1+ years.

I have a ryzen 1700 am tempted to try mining XZC with it if it is profitable.  I really have no idea what cpu miner client to use for Ryzen and lyra2z.

Ugh sorry to hear your fan came damaged.  :/

TBH I didn't think the evga fan that comes with the SC2 is as bad as people say.  I could barely hear it.

I replaced it anyway with a corsair ML120.  Pretty happy with this setup.  Both my aorus and the sc2 sit at temps in the mid 50s while mining.  I haven't tried any games yet.  I suspect the sc2 will run warmer in-game vs. mining.  Looking forward to doing a little testing.

I'm using DJM ccminer_cuda9.exe and it works fine.

Is there anything to be gained by loading the actual nvidia cuda software?
293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 22, 2017, 09:34:18 PM
to the right of the fan speed section there is a gear icon, click it the selection for gpu is there iirc.
Nope.  Just highlights the fan speed selection and doesn't seem to change selected GPU.

Pretty dumb they made this so cumbersome to figure out.  Who designs this stuff?

Negative.

Now where do you switch to the other GPU?
295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 22, 2017, 05:26:01 PM
I can't figure this out.  I am trying to switch skins to default v3 in afterburner.  How do you switch between GPUs?  I can't figure out where to click or what to click on in order to select the second GPU and adjust the sliders for it.  It is easy in some of ther other skins but you don't get the detachable dock with all the monitoring in there.
296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 22, 2017, 06:34:39 AM
I see everyone hates the included radiator fan on the sc2 hybrid cards.  I don't understand why companies package garbage fans with 800$ video cards. Wtf
297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 22, 2017, 04:01:39 AM
I am pulling my FE out tomorrow (sold) and replacing it with a evga sc2 hybrid.  I also have an aorus.

Can I control both with (afterburner) one program?  Has been fine up until now but the sc2 is a little different with a radiator.
298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 21, 2017, 12:56:39 PM
My Aorus runs overclocked out of the box too. It also runs very cool. It will not overclock much higher even with cool temps. Just a limit of the architecture I suppose.
299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1080Ti Specific - Best mining option on: December 20, 2017, 09:33:09 PM
Aye however those are 2.5+ card slot solutions minus the SC2.  If the SC2 is quiet with the fans spun up (ie, mining) then it may be a good option.

Gentlemen/ladies what do you recommend for a two slot card?  Looking for the quietest/coolest possible combination for a narrower card.

This one decent?  Clocks are not a huge importance in this case.  Thanks
