Hey ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) It look like the Ballet wallet is more like a ColdStorage wallet rather than an hardware one. So yes, it can be compared to the ColdKey card. But the Satochip card (Satochip.io) is really a hardware wallet. Keys are generated and stored into the secure chip and never leaves it. You can create multiple address and it support all the Bitcoin, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash features. All these projects aim the same goal : easy crypto adoption. The card form factor is really cool and people like it because they use such cards everyday ! I think the Satochip Shop will be open this week ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Just for your information...

At what point will these be available? I saw the tweet at the end of August saying that there were some available to beta testers on Twitter here: https://twitter.com/SatochipWallet/status/1167109684718899202I'd be interested in messing about with one and seeing how it works with a mobile device/NFC etc... But the shop always says "Out of stock". Are there any still available for testers? or will I need just be patient? ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) It will be available very soon. The beta tester program is now over and the only way to get a Satochip wallet is to buy it. We will open our shop in a few days ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Stay tuned !

Big updatesWe have released a new version of the Satochip applet, Electron-Cash client and 2FA Android app. The new release takes into account the feedback received during the beta test phase and should be production-ready. Thanks to all those who contributed to the improvements! Main changes are:* Possibility to change the PIN code or reset the seed from the EC client (click on the satochip icon on the low-right corner) * if using 2FA: signing message and resetting seed now requires 2FA approval * 2FA can be disabled, only when the seed and all private keys are cleared beforehand. The new releases are available here: * Satochip applet v0.8: https://github.com/Toporin/SatochipApplet/releases/tag/v0.8-0.1 * Electron-Cash-Satochip v4.0.11-0.8: https://github.com/Toporin/Electron-Cash-Satochip/releases/tag/v4.0.8-0.8 * 2FA app: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/org.satochip.satochip2fa.satochip2faYou should always use the EC client version that corresponds to the Satochip applet loaded on the smartcard (e.g v0.7 or v0. ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) . Some functionalities may be unavailable or incompatible otherwise. For example, signing messages requires 2FA approval (if enabled) on the new version of the applet (v0. ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) but the EC client v4.0.8-*0.7* does not support this. Important reminder: do not forget to backup your seed and 2FA key (if enabled) !

Yes, our hardware wallet is based on a javacard with a secured chip the same used by bank companies. This card is NFC compliant. So you can either use a card reader or a NFC reader on your computer.
Have any tests been done (or are any planned) with NFC capable smart phones (and perhaps a modified Electrum client)? ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) Would be interesting to see a video of the test. I'm pretty sure any NFC capable smartphone would be able to detect it, but the Electrum part needs some testing, especially the security part. Wouldn't be fun if a bug exist and allows the user to spend without connecting the card to their device. Yes indeed. That's why we focuse on the chip part first. The more interraction you provide, the bigger is the surface attack. In summury, the card is NFC compliant but the whole hardware wallet procedure (including the client part) isn't. Let's add it to the roadmap ! ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

Have any tests been done (or are any planned) with NFC capable smart phones (and perhaps a modified Electrum client)? ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) Well, the card is NFC compliant and it's recognized by any NCF reader. So if you have a desktop NFC reader, it would work flawless. With a smartphone, it's another question because of the use of Electrum client. Learn something new every day... was not aware that card readers were so widely used within the general populace anywhere to be honest!
My pleasure ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

We would like to sell our product at 25$ including worldwide shipping. It might do the trick ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) But yes, hardware wallets are great things and can get more attraction from lambda people 👌

I do not understand why some persistently repeat that hardware wallets cost around $100, when in reality their price is actually lower, in some cases half of that amount. US customers can buy Ledger Nano S from Walmart for only $51, and in EU price is around $65. Every year we have a big discounts on hardware wallets (up to 50%), so almost anyone can invest $35 or something like that in coin security.
Can someone know what's the cheapest hardware wallet (real one, not a cold storage one) on the market ? (My question is business oriented as I'm part of a hardware wallet startup). ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) - the ease of use will be improved - people want somehting they can just plug and use directly.
We need some user interface to use any wallet, why you see a problem in the fact that such software need to be installed? In case of Ledger, you need Ledger Live or Electrum, and it takes less than 5 min to set up any of them. Electrum is a must have because it's open source and backed by a great and active community ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Hell no. Selling wallets with pregenerated private keys is the worst thing companies can do.
Yeah, I agree on the key generation part but this could lead to a crypto mass adoption and thus hardware wallet adoption. As we have to trust Exchanges, maybe we can trust a well known company ? But I'm 100% with you when it comes to say : not your keys, not your coins !

|
Bbbrrrr... uuurrrggh ![Undecided](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/undecided.gif) Cold storage will never gain mass adoption - hardware wallet will ! Pre-generated keys ... OMG, I feel like we're going back ten years before. And combining with an phone App increase the attack surface... Maybe the ease of use will lead to the Ballet wallet mass adoption, with good marketing ... Not your keys : not your coinsNyK-NyC

I think the most problem of the mass adoption is the easy use of such things (here : the hardware wallet). Using safes, leather wallets ot coin wrappers is something easy, isn'it !? The hardware wallet mass adoption will come when : - the price of such hardware will go donw - people won't buy a 90$ things easily. - the ease of use will be improved - people want somehting they can just plug and use directly. And last but not least : - when you will be able to sell hardware wallet that already include some crypto-coins inside. (I remember Casascius or Lealana having trouble while pre-funding coins). My point of view of course ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

We are currently refining our card design to suit the market ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) In the main time, BCH is now fully tested and supported. News coming soon ![Roll Eyes](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) Stay tuned !

I really like the idea here, but I have some questions:
Does one card represent one private key? How are the keys generated? Is it a hierarchy deterministic wallet, and if so do you initiate the wallet with a seed created by the Electrum client?
You'll have to excuse my ignorance and skepticism, but I'm not a technical guy so I wouldn't be able to scrutinize the code for anything malicious. Have you had a trusted third party audit the code?
No one is ignorant when he asks questions ! And about your skepticism, this is totally normal as we are speaking about hardware wallet, key generation, crypto-currencies, ... ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) The Satochip card can handle only one seed and all the keys are derivated by the chip. The seed is created by the Electrum client : yes. It would consume too much computer power to do it on the chip side. "Have you had a trusted third party audit the code" -> We make it open-source so the entire world (and you) can check and audit the code. We also have submitted our code to the Electrum dev team for review. We strongly encourage everyone who is attracted by this project to review our code on https://github.com/ToporinRegarding the Electrum client itself, we have add the plugin to recognize the Satochip. The applet is a custom dev and hence, should be audited. Thank you for your support.
