281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: And so it continues... on: February 21, 2015, 02:10:12 AM
yep 7 exchanges got hacked over the weekend.

when will these crappy exchanges stop using hotwallets.

and when will users stop throwing their entire hoards into these exchanges

AGREED.  Who the hell uses a hot wallet these days?  It's a recipe for disaster.
282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Darkleaks Will Open Pandora’s Box, Will The World Ever Be The Same? on: February 21, 2015, 02:08:56 AM
DarkLeaks is a FANTASTIC IDEA .. beautiful application of the blockchain. Thumbs up to the devs!
283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many of you still believe bitcoin will free you from paying tax one day? on: February 21, 2015, 01:50:41 AM
lol OP you have no idea .. bitcoin already frees 1000s of people from paying taxes.
284  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cavirtex exchange shutdown after being hacked on: February 20, 2015, 12:03:57 AM
DO NOT HOLD YOUR BTC ON THIRD PARTY EXCHANGES – BE YOUR OWN BANK

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=945881.0

I agree with this .. use an exchange to buy or sell Bitcoins but do NOT hold Bitcoins at an exchange permanently.

I don't even recommend to my own users that they hold bitcoins at my exchanges .. just buy/sell and withdraw to an offline wallet.
285  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: CaVirtex in Canada. Did they get hacked? Closing operations? on: February 20, 2015, 12:02:19 AM
I've been warning people about CaVirtex for a long, long time.  This is good news :-)  It was the worst exchange in Canada
286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hacking,hacked,lost everywhere?!!!! on: February 18, 2015, 10:38:16 PM
First, exchanges are stupid and many still store funds in bitcoin wallet on the server (wallet.dat).  Bad idea.  If you do that, you will get hacked NO MATTER WHAT and lose all customer funds. It's GUARANTEED.

Second, many of these exchanges simply steal the money and blame hackers.
287  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Cavirtex exchange shutdown after being hacked on: February 18, 2015, 10:35:56 PM
Wow, this is such GOOD NEWS!

I hated CaVirtex from the start. They stole 8.932010 btc from me on August 12, 2014 and blamed it on hackers.

THEN they admitted it wasn't hackers, but they needed me to fax them ID, PASSPORT, and BANK STATEMENT to release my funds.

What FUCKERS .. glad they are FINISHED
288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to keep your bitcoins secure if you suddenly disappear (jail or prison) on: February 18, 2015, 10:33:46 PM
Geocaching: Put the coins on multiple truecrypted flash drives, then bury them in different locations in the woods.

NOTHING else is secure, period. Forget all this multi-sig bullshit when it comes to longterm storage ..
289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain Would Play Role in Kim Dotcom's 'Uncensorable' Internet on: February 18, 2015, 10:32:08 PM
thumbs up for kim dot com .. I like his ideas
290  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Kipcoin lost 3000 btc and shutdown on: February 18, 2015, 10:31:02 PM
Only an IDIOTIC exchange would store bitcoin the server where hackers can get to it. So either this exchange was:

A. Extremely stupid or
B. Scam

What do you think?
291  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Kipcoin lost 3000 btc and shutdown on: February 18, 2015, 10:30:07 PM
Doh. They're paying interest, so OF COURSE its a ponzi!
292  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin and Porn on: February 17, 2015, 11:20:35 PM
I think porn and gambling would be fantastic niches for Bitcoin payment processing to totally dominate .. not all porn sites are going to like btc though, because many sites use 'cross sells' and rebilling to scam customers with extra credit card charges, something they can't do with bitcoin
293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ISIS Using Bitcoins :o on: February 17, 2015, 11:19:20 PM
ISIS does NOT need Bitcoins man .. they got OIL.  Lots and lots of oil ..
294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens in the aftermath of a Bitcoin funded terrorist attack? on: February 17, 2015, 11:18:23 PM
I don't think it's going to happen .. the jihadis use hawalla to move money, which is much more effective than Bitcoin.  There is not enough of a cash market for BTC in the middle east to enable them to sell it for cash.  I honestly don't see it happening anytime soon ..
295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BurtW arrested on: February 17, 2015, 11:12:59 PM
the feds need a conviction to scare other people on localbitcoins to stop selling/buying btc .. if they can drive buyers and sellers to the big exchanges like coinbase they can totally regulate bitcoin, which is of course their goal
296  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do girls use Bitcoin ? on: February 15, 2015, 08:26:34 PM
Girls definitely do NOT use Bitcoin in general .. although I've met a few crypto chicks, they are very rare.
297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Satoshi Nakamoto be world's first trillionaire ? on: February 15, 2015, 08:25:39 PM
Satoshi is either dead, lost his bitocin, or doesn't care about the crypto anymore .. either way, he's out of the picture
298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dread Pirate Roberts Killed 5 men? on: February 15, 2015, 01:53:33 AM
I don't think he had anyone killed or even tried to.  It was just a smear campaign to influence the jury, obviously.
299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should The Marijuana Industry Embrace Bitcoin? on: February 15, 2015, 01:51:31 AM
Yes, obviously!  I'm off to smoke a joint right now folks ...
300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Will End the Nation State on: February 15, 2015, 01:50:30 AM
I think the nation-state will simply end Bitcoin if cryptocurrency becomes too much of a threat to the central banks.  They can easily regulate it out of existence, or simply ban it outright and impose absurd penalties for holding BTC.
