282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Take a Stand with EBT ★ Reject Paid Voting on Exchanges ★ on: March 11, 2014, 11:38:53 PM
Just stumbled into this discussion thread and felt much relief at the presence of some like-minded individuals. The altcoin ecosphere has gotten into a pretty polluted state, such that it feels like a hard rain's gonna fall, sooner than later. I'd like to repost a comment I made elsewhere a few days ago (post-launch on another thread) in reaction to the grovel-beg-bribe sucker mentality that has spread like bubonic plague throughout the land of crypto:

Take a moment to step back from the frenzy of the launch and all the hope, fear and emotionalism over the future of this coin. Since we are all presumably interested in wealth-creation, how about a few words on the psychology of abundance vs the psychology of poverty. Not a place for an essay here, so I'll cut to the chase and point out that all the manic competition lately over whose (most often) shitcoin will be fastest onto an exchange, and in particular this imbecilic voting bs with the exchanges 'selling' votes as a commodity -- all this reflects the mindset of poverty. Poverty, victimhood, and the golden opportunity for exploitation that goes with it. It works like this: You secretly fear you have 'little' and therefore must compete for scraps of approval meted out by beings above you who seemingly have a say in your future. It's a sorry state of affairs that the exchanges actually can pull-off this cheesy scam of taking your money in exchange for these pathetic 'votes'. Lol, for the privilege of possibly being allowed in their doors. I would not debase myself, or my coin, to mentally (let alone financially) buy into this horseshit. Just as an exercise in positive visualization: how about picturing the exchanges kissing your ass and competing to be the big volume player in the great action of your awesome coin. Just a thought, folks.

Good point although a little abrasive.  Every exchange will jump onto a coin, votes or not if they see it being actively used for buying and selling goods/services, without the need for votes, free or paid.

This is where EBT and every other coin needs to focus their energy, getting it actively being used.

are there any escort sites that accept ebtcoin yet?

Was talk about it on the escort review forums at independentgirls.com and bestgfe.com but so far only BTC is accepted.

284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [BTQ] BitQuark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: March 11, 2014, 03:34:37 AM
There's an online crypto flea market coming out soon where you can sell/buy stuff online for a select few crypto currencies, the ones that show value beyond being dumped on an exchange as a trade up to BTC.

Haven't heard the final word yet, but if you're actually looking to USE your coins, that could be a starting place.

Of course, people will have to be willing to actually sell and buy stuff for a coin for it to work, but hey isn't that what these crypto currencies are all about?

When will the community learn that unless there's a community willing to buy and sell goods for a coin, it's nothing more than a mine/pump/dump/trade up to BTC coin.

They come out a dime a dozen a week now.

286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [BTQ] BitQuark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: March 11, 2014, 03:01:27 AM
screw buying into an exchange...if you want a coin to be successful, people have to have enough faith in it to be willing to accept it as payment for goods and services, and be able to buy a variety of goods and services with it.  otherwise it's just another dump or trade up to btc coin.
287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Take a Stand with EBT ★ Reject Paid Voting on Exchanges ★ on: March 11, 2014, 02:59:15 AM
I applaud EBT on taking a stand.  Eventually I think a crypto standards board will evolve, similar to the w3c evolution back around HTML 2.0

Let's face it, the crypto currency world over the last few months has become a get rich quick program:

 - put out a generic copy coin
 - mine during launch (or premine)
 - buy into an exchange
 - dump for BTC
 - sell BTC made from dumping generic copy coin for USD or other fiat

can anyone name a coin out of the 100+ that came out in the last 6 months that doesn't follow the above plan?

Finally a dev team that makes me think crypto currencies have a future other than trading up for BTC and selling for quick cash.

288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Take a Stand with EBT ★ Reject Paid Voting on Exchanges ★ on: March 10, 2014, 06:03:55 AM
Paid voting is bribery which is corruption. Same thing what the fiat bankers are doing. Coins that are selected by paid voting do not have real support.
It only leads to pump and dump by the same persons that pay for the votes.

Coins without paid voting have much better chance for natural growth because they have real support.

+1000

One of the reasons behind crypto-currencies was to get away from this type of thing.
289  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Take a Stand with EBT ★ Reject Paid Voting on Exchanges ★ on: March 10, 2014, 03:40:08 AM
The sad part is these paid votes are coming from miners and coin owners like us, not from the devs or premine holders.

How many coins out there have videos?

BTC - https://www.weusecoins.com/en/
QRK - http://www.quarkcoins.com/
EBT - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVKHC1rxZJs  and  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4h-74cndjo

What does that tell you?  Out of 300+ coins, only a few care enough to put time and effort into promotions beyond, "hey we're on this exchange come dump your coins."

I don't know what the offical status of the developers are for this coin, but there's a crypto flea market site coming out soon where you can buy and sell stuff online for FRQ.

I want to do good with the little karma I have.  I will send 10 KARM to anyone who stands up against paid bribes on exchanges.  If you support the thread with your KARM address I'll send you 10 KARM until I run out.

Paid bribery for listings is just disgusting.
293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Take a Stand with EBT ★ Reject Paid Voting on Exchanges ★ on: March 08, 2014, 05:59:37 PM
I'm a little shocked that Cryptsy pulled this.  Time to withdraw my balances and cut them out.

Any business that promotes bribery looses all my respect.

Classic case of a greedy programmer, not someone with good business sense.  There are so many ways to increase profits and ROI, but openly resorting to taking bribes from the community through paid voting is not one I can support.

premature ejac...um...premature fyi...

ebt.cryptofleamarket.com

under development, but they're only going to create markets for coins they feel have value beyond dumping or trading up to BTC.

baby momma drama between ebt and cryptsy aside, this is what we need.  it lets the community set the value of the coin, independent of BTC and trade ups.

i plan to sell slightly used socks with only 1 or 2 holes maximum for 12 EBT a pair.  I'll discount single socks where the twin was eaten by the sockmonster for 6 ebt each.

oh a whole 2 sats..... dang...

down to one

if you want moon to work, build a marketplace where people can buy and sell stuff for moon.  otherwise its just like the other 300+ altcoins out there...a pump and dump
296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ★★ EBT Coin - PoW/PoS (30 days) - New Video on ebt-coin.com!!★★ on: March 08, 2014, 03:58:52 PM
what is with the childish behavior? EBT needs to be on cryptsy and mintpal. To get on you need to vote or pay for votes. its the cost of doing business.

Since when did the exchanges dictate everything? EBT can do what it likes, and at least it still stands out from the crowd by standing against this joke of having to pay for votes.

you need exchanges for price discovery. You also need exchanges so that people can buy and sell. If the trend is to pay to get on an exchange so be it. If there is no exchange you guys will kill this coin.

Look at the coins at the top of these pay-to-votes. A load of pump-and-dump crapcoins, mostly. What do you think is going to happen with all these coins listed? Take a look at Cryptorush for a glimpse into the future of Cryptsy.

Is this really progress? A ton of crapcoins filling the pages of exchanges, with swathes of BTC going into the pockets of the exchanges, with them arbitrarily deciding when to list new coins so they can grab as much BTC as possible?

Anyone who thinks this is a good move for Altcoins is mistaken. The only winners out of this are the exchanges. Once they have their BTC they don't care if your coin ends up buried in the dust. They'll discard it with yesterday's trash and wait for the next coin to leach BTC from.

The price cryptsy is asking for votes is nothing short of extortion. You do *not* need to ask for that much BTC to gauge which coins have the most interest. In fact you don't need to pay for votes at all. All this does is kill the majority of the altcoin market and puts more control in the hands of the whales who can afford to buy votes then pump and dump their coin of choice.

We are moving towards altcoins being penny stocks.

altcoins are already like penny stocks.  a dozen coins come out a week, all pump and dump to trade up to BTC.

Until someone is willing to stand behind a coin and open up a marketplace for the coin things will never get anywhere and we'll be dependent on exchanges run by thugs.

Started getting my stake um's lol...at least I'm assuming it's POS since they're coming from an address of (n/a) and it's saying mined.

Tried sending coins to the faucet at http://www.magicinternetmoney.org/faucet_ebt.php but I keep getting the message below no matter what amount I try to send (50 down to 0.00005):

Anyone have any idea?

Anyone else getting this when trying to send coins?

What a retarded shitcoin.  As if any government entity would even consider using a crypto designed by some anonymous dev and backed by a network of neckbeards and their GPUs to transfer EBT.  A PoS coin at that.  Can you imagine some mother deciding to hold off buying more food for her 7 kids because she is waiting for her stake to kick in?  Clearly if a government wanted to transfer benefits using crypto they would premine and control all the coins themselves.

Besides, black people don't use crypto anyway.

Thanks for your feedback, dick.
You're probably just butthurt because this is selling for more than your leaf and mint and panda combined.
Last I checked, nobody was using doge or kitteh to pay at the pet stores either.

Love that comeback!  Grin

Just remember, the more hate a coin gets, the better it does.  I wouldn't put too much stock in @sixteendigits comments, 90% of his posts are trashing other coins and I'm pretty sure he just comes here to spank a digit to the Even Bitches Take It! memes.

I'm still mining some, but I admit I've moved a lot of hash to other quark algo coins.  If devs would at least make an appearance every few days...
