Maybe a NXT ipo investor said that to dissuade you from getting into NEM, and possibly bringing down NXT value. I follow this thread pretty thoroughly and haven't seen someone say that here. Edit: But i just read your last point and it sounds like you are almost asking for financial advice, so sure, invest in NXT ipo, NEM ipo, and any other ipo that is cheap, because why not right? The $10 investment will be way better ROI than a lottery ticket. |

Exactly. Proof of Importance is NEM's best feature. PoI is what will set NEM apart from all other coins.
I'm sorry if I missed it but is there a link somewhere to how PoI works? Is this actually a fully developed working thing, or just an idea at this point? How is "hybrid PoS/PoI" different from NXT proof of stake? I've read about it in the development plan, there is a few lines of description that is all, it is unclear how it will work or what behaviour it will drive. I await a more formal specification and formal review of the algorithm, like all good ideas there are intended consequences and unintended consequences... If implemented as described, it will 'set NEM apart' but whether this is in a good way or not will be how the implementation is judged when it is seen out in the community - there is a lot of stealing of ideas so I'm not surprised there is little detail posted in order to prevent this - we will have to trust in the 'devs' and see what they finally decide on. It is my understanding that the devs are currently testing POI, and they aren't posting specifications on how it will work, because they are well, still testing it out. |

If nothing else, this project is a great window into the human psych. Lately I've seen to many new coins descend into a nasty greed-fest with "where's my fucking coins!!!" and "scamcoin!!!" spattered everywhere. By and large I feel NEM isn't doing too bad, so far!  The coin world has gone down hill, the huge asic mining and multipools jump on a new coin, mine it, sell it, and kill it within days, moving on like a pack of locusts. If you had a bunch of mining rigs sitting around, that weren't making a whole lot of money mining bitcoin/litecoin/primecoin (Trying to cover all the main asic,gpu,cpu ). Wouldn't you point them to some junk altcoin for a quick pump and dump? The topic is irrelevant when it come to NEM in my opinion though. |

Lol I used to love playing that game and guess what I was thinking when I drew that picture  Maybe someone can write a flappy bird clone. Flappy NEM. Highest score gets a part of a stake every month till NEM is launched. I Will engourage NEM supporters to join NEM forum here -> http://forum.nemcoin.com(nemcoin.userboard.net transfered there) this is getting annoying and ridiculous at the same time . we are all over the internet, only to look for our stakes.. everybody is starting a new forum, another page, another logo, another "work unit" so taht he can get a dev and pull the "community" along. So we have this thread, the nxtcrypto threads, the last forum, this new forum, the reddit page, the ournem. its annoying, and pointless. Can someone from the two new mods explainn the need for YET another forum? What was wrong with the previous? Can someone give an honest and legit reasonand please do not pull the decentralisation card. It's the same moderators, they got rid of the other forum and set this one up which is much better, there's only going to be one official forum/facebook/twitter/etc. The decentralization part comes in because all of these outlets are managed by different people, no one wants decentralization to the point where there are 5 NEM Facebooks or twitters. |

Reading previous posts this may not be popular... Don't mind black or blue - what I would say is the contrast of the black really helps other features stand out and gives the page a stronger more striking feel to it... In comparison the blue feels more average colour, a bit like Hewlett Packard corporate blue and microsoft use a blue like that quite a lot. Nothing wrong with that... they want to be welcoming too. A DARKER Blue perhaps would give welcome and contrast? black wins hands down... Yeah - I'd agree with that. Personalyl I'd remove the globe on the upper left corner. Not only does it introduce a second logo but it also looks like it was low res. Again, Props on the website as a whole though You all have inspired me with some great ideas for the site! Thank you all, including erki12, xtester and many others. I will respond to all of your concerns, and take them into consideration, but for now I am going to get onto the next iteration of the site, and I think you will be pleased. To sum up the most important part of the google docs:
I need the community to give me copyright free pictures that I can use for this site, most images are just placeholders (but atleast they are copyright free). The logos I used are not official logos, they are just logos that have been submitted by the community. I will give NEM from my personal share to people that contribute images/photos/etc that I use in the final site. |

It appears they are fluent in Russian? I would ask them for permission, but if someone that speaks Russian well could get in touch with them, that would be awesome. I think it is Ukrainian? They seem to know some English. I was hoping someone could warm them up in a language they are fluent in. I don't want them to feel I'm some kind of scam artist trying to steal the rights to their photos, I will contact them in the next day or two if no one wants to do it. |

Ok, not to sound annoying, but today I had a friend over, and I showed her a post that had the signature "New Economy Movement." I told her to find out what that the signiture was referring to. She couldn't. Not with Google, not with anything.
I then told her to find out about Nem. And she couldn't She was even smart enough to search for the terms, "Nem economy," "Nem economy movement," Nem new economy movement." And nothing. And the only reason she thought of doing that was because she already heard the phrase "New Economy Movement."
I think that's a legitimate problem. If it's not going to be Nem Coin, we need to add something to it to make it a unique enough of a search term.
Maybe with should go about this the same way we're doing with the logos. With suggestions of something that can enhance the name Nem that makes it a searchable term on the internet. And perhaps something that also sounds good in Chinese, Japanese, German.
The term will be associated with NEM in due course, don't worry.  will be NEM ? Isn't it too late? Look what your Google finds with "NEM". If it is possible, the NEM page should be added to here (by page's owner): https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/homeThen, in Index, do "search like Google", "search", "send to ". After that NEM people should use Google and search "New Economy Movement" and other related words, and from the Google's list should pick NEM pages, which increases the importance of NEM pages. PS. now "NEM - New Economy Movement" is 15th in Google's list, not so bad ... maybe it is already in index. Google finds 150 000 "new economy movement". I just added ournem.com to https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home. It will take sometimes for the search engine to recognize the site though. I am not even sure that the site has been properly indexed by Google. I was able to access a cached ournem.com when the website was down the other day, So i assume that means they have indexed it already? Just kind of assuming though... |

Sorry, but this logo remember nazi....heil hitler, and i don't like. hey guys! this is not at all finished, but more a try to push logo-styles in a different direction. (not alwas letters) what do think about the symbol of a fist in general?  kind regards, upekha I like it alot! In general it's a cool logo, but seems to represent the opposite of what NEM is about. Red, angry fist crushing the world is what I get from it. Your skills are topnotch but maybe something a little "friendlier" would be cool. |

I believe part of the POI model will include a "timer" of sorts on the coins. You can only forge with your current coins if you have had them for a certain amount of time, (To prevent fraud). UP will be giving out more information soon. I am no expert but wouldn't that just encourage hoarding? It sure would and it's the first time I hear this timer thing in regards to POI but I might have missed it. Even if there is a timer though there are plenty of other factors that will discourage hoarding. UP has already commented on this when other users were saying the same thing you just put. They have been advertising, as well as word of mouth, and other user's friends. I know 3 of my friends recently joined and sent in the 0.75 BTC required. They had no idea about crypto currency or even Bitcoin until I told them and I am even new to all this. Do you expect people who never heard of crytpo currency or NEM to automatically be a veteran user on this forum? I don't post anything but I read everyday on here and I have been ever since I heard of NEM. Doesn't make me a sock puppet account or a multiple stake holder of NEM. If they are buying more stakes than what they are allowed and trying to get away with it than hopefully they will be caught and the funds returned but if not than there is nothing we can do about it.
I completely agree. I know I can account for at least two people that created bitcointalk accounts and bought a NEM stake just because I explained it to them. By my post count you can tell I'm rather new as well, it doesn't mean that all or most of the new accounts are "sock-puppets", I am really happy with the distribution and that's why I recommended this cryptocurrency to my friends out of all the others out there. |
