281  Economy / Marketplace / Re: MtGox: why is this ticket taking so long to get an answer? on: July 31, 2011, 11:56:22 PM
Yes, but none of my emails have gone answered. Ive been polite. Ive waited without firing back an anger ridden email. But nothing ever happens. That's life.

Could you provide a ticket number ?

As for the backlog, here's an update:

End of the graph is today, which is not really representative since we'll start soon (ie. it's early morning right now). We are working on getting support work 24/24 and may open a live chat, too... Smiley

285  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Mt. Gox Trading API "nonce" Issue In Distributed App on: July 31, 2011, 05:13:28 PM
In the trading API you have to specify a "nonce" parameter of an increasing integer value.  This is fine for non-distributed apps.  However, we are developing a distributed app that could be deployed to hundreds or thousands of machines.  This nonce value will be harder to increment in synchronization since normally it is based on a computer's clock.  If two transactions were happening at near the same time, it is possible a late request might arrive before the earlier request due to the unpredictable nature of the Internet.  Is it possible to supply a unique identifier for the nonce instead of an increasing value?

The other solution would be to supply a username and password but I don't know how long this will be supported.

Thanks.

I would be curious to hear more about your needs, and we may be able to provide solutions that fit your needs.

Please contact me (admin@mtgox.com) for more details.

I'd suggest ignoring depth updates for currency != USD for now, as it messes up the view Smiley
289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MyBitcoin.com, where did it go? on: July 31, 2011, 04:28:13 PM
The problem I have with your merchant system is that your site is extremely slow processing bitcoin deposits.
Often it is 1 hour or more, and mybitcoin did it in a few seconds.
Yes I realize the risk in this, but the services I sell are time sensitive, I cannot hold it for an hour to see if the customer pays or not.
It would be great your API could instantly tell me when a payment is received (even if I have to wait for it to be confirmed in block chain before I can spend it).

We can make that happen too, a first notification when payment is on the bitcoin network. However we cannot guarantee it'll be confirmed (that's up to miners).

MT; if both buyer and merchant have mtgox accts couldn't you make the tx's instantaneous?

Yep, in /that/ case it's instant and non-reversible.
290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: something's up on: July 31, 2011, 04:17:47 PM
Look I am not some conspiracy buff... but mybitcoin and mtgox both going nuts at the same minute?

Right now you can sell your Bitcoins for 1.3 million at Mt.Gox ,  only if you get get them from mybitcoin (which is down). ..

We'll make a public announce tomorrow morning (Japan time), basically during a planned maintenance, system upgrade didn't go as planned. This is not related to MyBitcoin.

I thought about using Mt. Gox when Mybitcoin went down this time but saw this notice: "Merchant service are currently unavailable, but will be back soon."

Are Merchant Services available again? If so, you should remove that notice.

Please contact me (admin@mtgox.com) so we can discuss your needs as a merchant, and so we can provide the best API for you. We got no merchant on our system so far who expressed a need for any merchant system, however we can get things done quickly if you let us know exactly what kind of payment interface you need.
I coded a WHMCS payment module for MyBitcoin using their SCI, anyway I could do the same for Mt.Gox?
Was planning on selling game servers for Bitcoins.

Yes, just let me know exactly what kind of API you need, and we'll make it happen Smiley
293  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mybitcoin down or just me? on: July 31, 2011, 12:25:22 AM
Even though I lost 25 BTC, I'm not really mad.
I kind of blame myself for leaving that much on a public site.
What I'm mad at, is that I can't use their SCI for selling game servers. Tongue

Could you let me know on admin@mtgox.com what kind of SCI you need ?

295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tradehill SEPA account frozen! on: July 30, 2011, 03:35:35 PM
Well MtGox probably lies to their bank as well. I cant see how the bank would know and accept that this happened.

Secondly, neither Tradehill nor MtGox are approved by any financial regulatory unit to conduct financial business - that is holding money on behalf of third party.

I dont think anything will change, except if the established banking industry REALLY goes to hell and people start rethinking the model of the banking world. Right now its the same as usual.

We do not lie to our bank, and that's the reason why we have so much trouble getting a new European bank. We have a full presentation (what is bitcoin, etc) and explain to each financial institution what we are dealing with.

Secondary, neither Tradehill nor MtGox is conducting any financial business. We accept deposits from users for the purpose of buying a service, that's a common system known as "prepaid", used by many merchants around the world. You can ask for a refund ("withdraw"), and that's not a problem either.

We are, however, talking with the FSA about Bitcoin and want them to understand and let us know if there is any specific requirement for us.
296  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MyBitcoin.com, where did it go? on: July 30, 2011, 02:38:03 PM
not that I know of ..  instawallet .. but that site scares me Smiley   I threw coins up there one time and closed the browser without bookmarking... LOL!

That's not instawallet's fault.. it's mine of course.. but still without any recourse to get my coins back it's somewhat scary in my opinion.

People can still use Mt.Gox for this, coupled with the yubikey (or the HOTP option we'll provide monday) it should be quite secure and there are no fees (not like with the "first bitcoin bank" canadian scam).

By the way I'd guess mybitcoin is acting pro (see http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=22221.0 if anyone remembers it) so stuff should be back soon (well, I'll avoid saying anything negative, it'll be taken badly again)
297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can't connect to Mt. Gox API using C# .NET on: July 24, 2011, 03:21:54 AM
Are you sure your request sets a user agent? Could you provide both your request and a traceroute to mtgox so I can forward that to Prolexic ?
298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mt.Gox/AurumXchange Partnership - European Transfers Now Available on: July 22, 2011, 10:37:24 PM
Note that this is more like a temporary solution while we get our own bank back than a permanent solution. We are still actively working on this.

EDIT: and update from AurumXChange: "we got about two or three people who changed MTGOX vouchers instantly for LR, it went without a hitch!" (yep, it works for LR too)
299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dwolla growth email - success and relation to Bitcoin? on: July 21, 2011, 11:56:06 PM
We got in June a total of $6,824,168.53 of funds moving around (16640 transactions in both deposits and withdraws) over Dwolla, equivalent of $227,472.28 per day, or $1,592,305.99 per week. Should be noted that the site was closed on June 20th, so in reality amount per day/week is higher.
300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: API To Send Payments. MtGox vs MyBitcoin vs CampBX on: July 21, 2011, 11:26:14 PM
I need an API to send payments instantly.  At one point in time Mt. Gox had a way to send bitcoin payments instantly but I think it has been disabled.  CampBX just introduced an API to send payments but I don't know if it is instant or not.

MyBitcoin has an SCI shopping cart interface but I don't know if they have the ability to send bitcoins instantly with an API.

For example, here is CampBX's instant payment call:

An API call to send Bitcoins to an address can be made in following format:
https://CampBX.com/api/sendbtc.php POST: user=USERNAME pass=PASSWORD BTCTo=ADDRESS BTCAmt=DECIMAL

What is the best way to send bitcoins instantly without having to wait for a block?  I don't mind if two users have to have an account at Mt. Gox or mybitcoin.com to send bitcoin payments to each other.

You can send bitcoins to a Mt.Gox address, it'll be credited instantly (or you can make a Mt.Gox redeemable code, it works too, for BTC and USD).

We do not allow sending directly USD anymore (since June 27th) as it falls under "money transmission" and would require us to register to a crapload of things. If needed we may allow sending BTC instantly to a MTGOX account by number, however.
