Good idea. It's actually a feature of the Lill search engine, as discussed before. We can annotate transaction IDs and wallet addresses for all coins (not just Karma) and attach notes, maps, videos, links and

yeah I understood that your search engine could rank and rate information...

I was thinking more along the lines of a cryptographically secure decentralised way of rating/verifying addresses and passing on encouraging messages through the Karma network itself (ie on the blockchain) so that your client or any blockchain aware app or website could simply tap into the feeds directly and display them live on any screen.

this has several advantages...

1) past feedback can't be tampered with by anyone and by using the hashcash model, bad actors are disincentivised from trolling or bashing competitors.
2) the messaging system cannot be easily blocked by firewalls unlike twitter and facebook.
3) compromised karma addresses can be sufficiently labelled so that people wishing to send to them would get a message in the Karma client itself warning them that their may be a problem as they try to send Karma.
4) anyone can scan the blockchain and find the people/organizations who are doing the most good... (and those doing the least) and contribute to their cause.

I know that a website can do most of that.. but the difference is that a website can be hacked, tampered with, taken offline etc... the block chain pretty much cant.

anyways I know you guys have a mountain of project so if you want to discuss the ideas in further detail at a later date.. its all good...

just imagine twitter + microtransactions on the block-chain that isn't run by anyone and can't be shutdown by anyone. a virtually free service without advertising that grows in value the more people use it.

Sounds like the goal of a lot of the projects I read about on r/darknetplan.  Cool stuff.

I'm betting on Brasil, Argentina, and I'm trying to do one other team, for my big bets.  I figure I really just want to double my money so can't put the eggs in too many baskets, also want to help the charity so definitely going to throw some small wagers on a few more teams.  If somehow a team like Portugal or USA wins and you are the only one with, say, the minimum 100k wager on them, you win the entire pot!  Smiley

Really nice website and nice design i will maybe try few buck for france ^^

Good job on the site.

Sorry, but no team from Europe will have the chance for the title. Grin Not in Brasil. Look at Argentina and Brasil. Spainiers are now two old to maintain the same class. Germans and/or the Portugese will hit semi, but that is it. Expect surprise from Belgium. Many says that Netherlands are strong for second final, but I disagree. I will bet for Argentina. If Messi is to be recognized as the best player ever walked on this earth, he got to win the title. You saw him sparing his power all half season in Barca, only with the WC in mind. And he is backed from Zabaleta, Mascherano, Aguero, Di Maria, Higuain, Lavezzi, Maxi, etc. I see this team as far more stronger than the one from 1986 and 1990. But, no matter who will win WC, Karma will raise. So, GO KARMA!

I think a a South America team wins this year as well.  Do you really think Messi has been saving himself for it?  That's dedication to his country.

we are gonna see a long slow price increase for a few months.

http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoins-falling-volume-herald-bull-run/

I think we are in for a nice bull run with Bitcoin which will raise everyone's value.  Litecoin hit $45 during the last bull run, KARMa will be right there with them all.

Every trick in the book and flaw in the code was used to make those with high hashing-power more profit. Soon a SINGLE piece of hardware can deliver more hashing power than the entire Karma network currently has.

This cannot be compared to the bitcoin ASIC-times.

I was totally with you until this part.   People mined Karma because it was, and still is, a kick ass coin with 1 minute block time that started with massive early bonuses.  It was a miners dream mixed with a really great name and mission! Smiley

Let's say I was one of the early recipients of the new mega powered scrypt ASICs, and I point my new weapon at the Karmablockchain.  I immediately start doing 25-50-75% of all of the hashing.  I am providing a service to the network and helping the KARMs flow throughout the web.  I collect 25-50-75% of all the blocks.  I immediately dump them?  Sit on them?  Sell part of them?  Not sure what the big deal is or the threat that is coming.  If you can cite an example of the threat I would like to read more and share with the team.

Would someone invest $12k in the latest ASIC card to mine something and then fork the coin to oblivion?  Doesn't make sense to me. Normally someone investing that kind of money is fairly disciplined, intelligent, and is going to put his money to work in the most efficient, responsible manner.

Loving the discussion, and I can speak for the team when I say, we always want transparency in all that we do.  So please dont get down on any of this as indecision or confusion.   We are all on the same mission here and have the same goals for this crypto and the community.

We have set a reasonable timeline to ensure that all options are considered and promise to be as transparent as possible.  Smiley

Actually Shawn, the asics really fucked up Bitcoin. This is so centralized now, that nobody I know likes it. And it got nothing to do with "cheap farms". I was running a farm - not cheap, also have 4 friends that sold 3+THs of power when the last generation machines wasn`t even on the horizon. I have at least 10 friends that are running 30-40 + GPUs. Do the math and you will see that for the same investment they could buy asics. But they don`t, because companies like KNC and Butterfly Labs was building their own huge farms while lying to the world that they don`t mine, just selling shovels. So, the more centralized is getting this thing of ours, the more it is getting ruined. And the specialized hardware like asisc is the main reason for it. And don`t refer to the price of bitcoin, because if you choose any of the online calculators, you will see that no investment in asic can be returned. So the price of bitcoin got nothing to do with regular miner. If you are mining with farm, you should know it.

P.S. Do you really think that this is normal:
http://www.datacenterknowledge.com/archives/2014/01/21/bitcoin-infrastructure-mining-data-center/
http://www.datacenterknowledge.com/archives/2014/02/06/bitcoin-miners-building-10-megawatt-data-center-sweden/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CjldZLXiAU

What does it got to do with Satoshi`s dream for World, that is fkn free from the currency centralization chains?

If you mean the little guy can't mine BTC anymore as what "fucked up bitcoin," then I agree.  Otherwise I entirely disagree that it's centrally controlled because of it.  So yes, I do think it is normal what is happening.  There is immense value in Bitcoin, I personally believe each coin will be worth $2-3M in 15 years.

We can debate fiat controls with the federal reserve banks vs big money betting on bitcoin for another time.  The fact they are betting on bitcoin legitimizes it even more, and we all benefit from this as being ahead of the curve and an early adopter.

They are taking immense risk to invest in a data center that has the best cooling and best ASICs money can buy.  Call me crazy, but isn't this what we are trying to do with crypto currency, take the workload and control away from the governments.  If you can convince some venture capital to support your move to Iceland and somehow get a cozy deal with the ASIC manufactures, then go for it.  It's a free market, something I totally support.  Having a few people involved on a website to vote to move this entire platform to an unproven PoS seems WAY more centrally controlled to me.

And as far as any calculator and "no investment in ASIC can be returned" please read this article from just last August from a regular LiteCoin miner that went BIG.  http://reckoner.com.au/2013/08/im-done-mining-litecoin/

After reading this, tell me you don't want to keep mining a PoW coin like Karma?  There are only going to be 94M LiteCoin, there will be room for others like us.  The guy in the article sold all his mining equipment for a loss and was bummed that LTC price was only $2.45.  He was calling it a failed mission and was happy to break even.   Of course just a few months later, LTC hit $45 US.

I am sold on going PoS if the price was constantly below 10Litoshi, but I don't see that happening with what we have planned Smiley

Again, I enjoy the debate but the only thing I keep hearing is, how can we boost the price artificially like Apple does with stock buy backs.  I have purchased over 1% of all Karma mined to date, it would benefit me short term to go PoS, but I think long term it attracts the wrong kind of support.

ASICs will tear this coin apart if given enough time

Why?  bitcoin has handled ASICs just fine.  The only thing is the difficulty went up which hurts the cheaper rigs.

we dont need more people with billions of coins

Why not?  You mean, now that you have your coins we don't need anyone else getting some? Let's increase scarcity to line our pockets??

A vote was cast, the results are in. We go POS in July Smiley

Nothing has been decided yet.
293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: May 10, 2014, 01:45:22 AM

I think we should not debate the various variations of nem and just use Nem for everything.

For example -

I nemed up to nem my nems on this neming.  Nemmed into Nemcointalk to nem if i nemmed any new nemages.

If you nem nem with nem then who the nem are nem ?  Nem it ?

Kind of like using "smurfy" or "smurf?"

What the hell are you guys thinking?  The thought that anyone thinks NEMophile is a solid term is quite disturbing.  I know what ophile means, but people only think of one thing when it's at the end of a word.  Put your marketing hats on.

I use technophile all the time, sicko.

28 july
it's to late to slow
we have to react quickly
make innovation
more quickly this modern world of you who do something after the other slowly cease to count

PoS is a terrible idea.. I cant believe that greed has taken over from common sense in this community.
copying someone elses' move to PoS is not "innovation" by any stretch if the imagination however KarmaShares to some degree is innovative.

how do you expect people will BUY karma if they don't own bitcoins or don't want to go through the BS process of using second market exchanges?
how can the coin get broader market penetration if all the coins are controlled by a select few Early adopters?

show me one PoS coin that has actually risen in value past its initial offering price.....

I doubt you will find ANY.

mark my words the only thing that will both secure the network and lead to broader acceptance is a switch to Merge Mining with Litecoin.
If its merge mined with litecoin then almost everyone who mines litecoins will be able to get a little Karma on top for "free" and then they become new users/spenders.

sure a some people will be able to get some of their money back when the coin goes POS but after that its nothing but a downhill slide because the market is too tightly controlled and thus illiquid.

hows NXT and all the other PS clones that followed working out for ya?

the closer we move to centralization the further away we get from broader market acceptance.

PoS and Premine coins are all designed to make the founders rich at the expense of everyone else. If you think you are one of the "Founders" because you got onto this forum in the first week then think again... unless you own more than 10% of outstanding Karma you aren't even close to benefiting from a switch to PoS unless you dump your coins on the hype...

but anyways enough of my passionate rant about PoS (Piece of S**t) coins, everyone is free to do as they please with their coins.
I just know that I will be dumping a substantial portion of my holdings on the "hype" if the move to PoS actually goes through.

Messing with the fundamentals of a coin is dangerous.. you have been warned.

Alphi, please comment in this sub as well on reddit.
http://www.reddit.com/r/KarmaTeam/comments/255avu/annpos_karmas_pos_announcement/

It is a major decision to make, we will consider everyone's thoughts on it.  I personally feel like it was more of an option when we were in the 8-10 Litoshi range, kind of the nuclear option, IMO.

The saying, "if it ain't broke don't fix it," comes to mind.  Smiley

Mad coinz!!

Doge will have 100B coins by the end of 2014 and add an additional 5B every year there after.  Just to put our baby in perspective.  If we stay with PoW, we eventually stop at 92B and will become deflationary at that point while Doge will keep adding.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogecoin

GO KARM!!!

I would like to mine this coin, however, what the calculator shows and what the pool shows are way off!!  Even some pools are way off than others.  I'm I missing something?

almost 6Mh/s shows aprox 2.5mil coins

on another pool, 11 million !!

Which is correct?

Sorry that you have to quote your question...It's actually a lot lower than that, many pools seems to forget to update their calculators at present a 1Mh/s rig averages 100 000 karma up daily.

so you're saying he should be seeing about 600,000 or so Karma per day, right (for 6Mh/s)?

What is everyone else averaging?

I know someone solo mining with 1.23-1.25MH/s that is finding 3+ blocks a day.
299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ๑۩۞[ANN][ ₭ARM] Karma & Karmashares LLC // New Windows Wallet on: May 09, 2014, 01:36:06 AM
Karmashares did it`s job. It is time for POS on 51-52 bill and push for BTC market. We voted for it and I think we should do it, if possible. No need for waiting anymore. Different signals to the markets are no good in long and mid term.

Are you joking ? Karmashares just started its engine two weeks ago, it has almost no ''power'' for now, all is coming in few future weeks with the 3 IPOCO websites projets (Lill, Wespond, Hireplex). Once they will be open, Karma will start to be very HOT and attractive !

I am looking long term, if we are able to make it and succeed and stay PoW only, we will be celebrated.  If we switch to PoS and succeed there will be an asterisks there.

Do we really want to follow BadgerCoin?? http://badgercoin.info

I mean, this is Karma, we are a LiteCoin clone like Doge.  We have a clearer vision and better plan of action than most.  Let those other coins pander to the quick buck and go PoS.  In terms of securing the networks, there are already theories of joint mining where we piggy back onto another clone for merge mining (http://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/news/charlie-lee-proposes-merged-mining-ltcdoge/2014/04/08) and strengthen each other's network against a 51% attack.

There are going to be tens and maybe hundreds of other coins wanting and willing to do this at some point.  Maybe Karma will lead the way with merge mining?

We have PoC already in action and in the long run will gain much more supporters through the respect and perseverance of staying PoW than messing with a hard fork to PoS which could potentially lose coins that were mined properly.

I look at going PoS as a last ditch BadgerCoin effort, if we are at 5 Litoshi near flatline, auto PoS activate!  Let's hang tight right now and see how this unfolds.  Again, I am not against PoS if we all agree on it, just don't want to jump to anything before it is completed vetted and all current and future options are weighed.  Smiley
300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ๑۩۞[ANN][ ₭ARM] Karma & Karmashares LLC // New Windows Wallet on: May 09, 2014, 01:20:21 AM
I would like to solo-mine Karma. Can anyone help with settings (links or tutorial)? I am using cgminer 3.7.2

I run a small 1.4 mhs mining rig. I would suggest you have at least 1.0 mhs of power.
Follow this post exactly and you'll be mining solo easy.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=521563.0

Make sure your wallet is the most current v 0.8.6.2.5 and fully synched.
Don't get fancy with settings, Just let the cards do their thing , after starting all stock and just playing with intensity
the only settings i use are -I 12 -g 2. Your card will determine thread concurrency it likes as well as engine and memory.

Running two threads at lower intensity is more efficient and your cards will run cooler.
I do have auto fan on one card that runs the monitor as it tends to run a little hotter than the others.
Also getting crazy with clock speeds, driving the cards hard  and such I think causes more rejected blocks.

When you know its mining the log of cgminer will say:
"Network Diff set to 5" (or whatever diff is at the time)
and next line will say
" New block detected on network". this does NOT mean you found a block but simply that the wallet
(which you're mining through) has recognized one. They release on Karma network about every minute.

When your miner "finds" and solves a block your "A:" in cgminer will show accepted work, when you get an orphan it will hit your "R:"
for Rejected work. On pools this is work on shared blocks the pools power has found. Solo mining this is all your work on a block your miner found.

Some days my miner will find several blocks.
Yesterday all it got was several rejects (orphans) but when you find and solve one....its all yours!
Sorry for long post but this is all things I had questions on and wish I had found all in one place.

Good Luck!

awesome!  Thanks for sharing!
