1. The fact that it is government free. 2. Volatility and troubles with exchanges.

I have to agree that self-censorship is the biggest problem with the surveillance state. And hopefully bitcoin and bit message, via the mechanisms discussed in this thread, will help in overcoming it.

I think I just barely have an inkling of what this might mean. What does this mean?

I have been stating that I prefer BTC payments in all my sales on eBay for over two years now. I've never had a single buyer use it, despite recently offering a 5% discount.

OKPay also seems inconsistent on their pay through to BTC exchanges, such as BTCe. They are also prone to changing policies, like whether you can or cannot send money to BTCe, without any advance notice.

Personally I like BTC for one bitcoin. Bhutan may have to adjust.

Certainly this is cool, with important services being offered for BTC. Though I do think the title sounded a bit scary.

Well, how about trying something this month _and_ next month?
Will anyone come to June 12th (tomorrow) at 7 PM?
Alternately, would Friday June 14th at 9:30 AM be better?
For July, what about Wed July 3rd or Friday July 5th?
Also, it looks like Extreme Bean in Tempe has internet filtering that considers Mt. Gox to be a game site, so I would suggest instead Solo Cafe on the SE corner of Mill and Baseline.

Satoshi was likely wise to stay anonymous. Plus it is now more fun to put that name on the customized plate on my car.

Ease of use of services is critical though. Most people really don't care _that_ much about whether their messages are read by the NSA or even the general public.
There is a bit of upset now about the wholesale violation of the constitution of the US by this spying, but until it is really easy to use encryption and P2P, most users won't be bothered to worry about it.

Yes, auto-refresher, or one of those programs that will click the home button repeatedly for you in a browser.

There is no real contact information on this site. No physical address, names of principals, etc.
Why would you expect this is anything other than a scam?
Also, it mentions LibertyReserve, which suggests it is quite out of date, as that wouldn't work these days.

Yes, the fundamentals in terms of business and transactions continue to look very good. The value (vs. price) continues to improve.

+1 on the Mac .dmg. I tried unsuccessfully to get this running from the source and using Homebrew the other day, but after an hour or so, gave up.

In late 2010 I saw a mention in Slashdot, and so went to investigate.

Would an evening work better for more people?
What about next Wednesday, June 12th, at 7 PM?

I'll be there, hope to meet some new folks interested in Bitcoin.

I want to move $20 million to my partner in crime overseas. I can't wire him $1 million without someone seeing that: what I can do, is send him 2000 laptops and charge him a dollar per laptop. He now has an invoice showing he's paid for these laptops, and he can sell the laptops at a reduced price to move them quickly and now has his $1 million. He has also now undercut every other laptop seller in his marketplace. This may put legitimate businesses out of business. Same goes for any other business propped up by illegitimate funds. They compete with legitimate businesses without valid business models. Depending on the amount of laundering or the size of the community, it can do huge damage.
Doesn't sound like there would be any problem or disruption if moving the money in the first place was legal.

Good to hear CampBX is registered. I thought they must have it pending.
I've dealt with them a fair bit and they have fairly good service, reasonable fees, and transactions in and out of Dwolla.
Volume is a bit lower, but other than that, good.

Also when you say "can coinlab collect" do you really mean "can coinlab get a judgment against"? Those are two completely different things. Even if coinlab can get a $50M judgment they may never see a penny from gox.
Yes, you're right, I was really asking about a judgement. With Mutum Sigullum's accounts in the U.S. haven been seized, collecting might be more difficult for a U.S. company.
