I don't know what to say to some of you....
The article is NOT positive for Bitcoin.  What should've been a positive PR for it, turns into a negative one.

Sad.

To those who think that minorities are losing by not jumping in...last time I checked China is not a minority. And what they hold in bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is probably more than any other nation.  Almost all the mining chips are made in china or engineered by Indian IT guys.  Yes there are many white men in the industry and they are the face of it, but every time I look at a manufacturer of bitcoin mining equipment, there is a minority person part of the team.

If Indians, Asians are considered minorities and white's are a majority.

hey guys,

I've noticed that the pool "running" is green sometimes but after a while it turns RED.  Any idea's as to why it switched from green to red?

I also had to remove backup pools because it sometimes switches to the backup and doesn't switch back to the main pool that I want to mine on.  Anyone noticed something like this?

I really can't understand these guys that knock one crypto over another.  I go to bed at night sometimes thinking, what the hell I'm I thinking by sinking money on "virtual currency".  But then again, people thought the dot com was a joke and yet those who got in it made millions of dollars.

The internet itself was considered a joke at one time.  And now 80+ year olds use emails to stay with their friends across the world.  What is facebook but an interactive web page with powerful computers in the back end.

I'm new to mining cryptos. Started looking into it in October last year.  Waited until February this year before I decided to get me a computer and mine using a gpu.  Then when I felt a bit more bulzy, I got me a used knc jupiter.  Then gridseeds.  But most of the time I think I will not see a return on my money any time soon. However, the idea is jenous.

I mined LTC first, then realized it was taking forever with gpu, switched to Doge.  Once I got my gridseeds, I tried the multi coin pools, and mining coins like doge on it's own.  regular pools or what you call MPOS, p2p ... and now started to venture out to mining other cryptocurrencies that I see there is a potential in them.

But to those who knock one coin over another:

Doge started as a JOKE. Even by the developers of it.  And not it's become one of scrypt's most mined and traded coins. Every time I look at a huge multicoin pool, it's mining doge most of the time.

The coin started as fun and remains to this day as fun by its community.  So why would you think this coin is nothing or will be nothing over another?Huh

Ok. Aside from reading almost 10 pages today just arguing over which coin is better than the other, pool showing same block mining for over 10 hours? Is that ok? Or is there something wrong?
285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NLG] Guldencoin — THIS FRIDAY YOU CAN PAY AT... on: April 25, 2014, 05:30:09 AM
Thank you.  But the wallet seemed to have sync'd !!  Do you recomend that I still do those steps?

I'm enjoying mining this coin...

Omar, your pool is great. Looks great, setup great.  I like the fact that I have one login for all the coins and don't have to create different workers for each coin.

omargpools.ca

Good work
and worth the wait.

Thanks guys. Much apreciated.

One more thing.  The wallet seems to be stuck on block 31987 when updating.  What's the fix for that?
287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NLG] Guldencoin — THIS FRIDAY YOU CAN PAY AT... on: April 25, 2014, 12:25:34 AM
would someone be kind to tell me how I can calculate how many coins I would get if I mine this coin?  I'm interested, but I can't find a calculator for it.

I have 2.1

Is there a newer version?
289  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HASHRA CONTROLA on Raspberry Pi for Gridseed on: April 23, 2014, 05:59:34 AM
so then in Hashra mini controla, the hash rate it shows when I have it set at 1050Mhz, is not correct?

I tried for the first time to bump up the core speed to 1000Mhz.  Suprisingly, I got no HW!! However, I get no shares and I'm not even able to connect to the servers anymore??
Not even big pools like wafflepool or multipool.  The smaller pools don't show me hashrate and I don't get any shares too!!

Anyone can help out with this?

1000 MHz will not work unless your miners are modded. you have to set the clock back to 850

So what's the point of Hashra showing different clock speeds in the controla?

HASHRA,

I like the new feature on the mini controla that I can add multiple pools.  Finnally I don't have to cut/paste all the time.

I would like to see you guys add the ability to get some more mining control settings though, like in scripta.  The reason is, I like to mine on p2pools and I need to tweak the settings for optimum mining.  With scripta it's possible.  NOT with Hashra.

Another thing is, it would be nice for us to know what you are changing or tweaking in every update so that we could give you feed backs.

Still, over 850Mhz is not possible to mine without huge HW

and still "some" HW under 850Mhz speeds.
293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DOPE] DopeCoin - FORK INCOMING IN 2 DAYS! Upgrade your wallets now. on: April 22, 2014, 08:24:44 PM
I noticed that when I run the calculations of what I'll mine in 24H compared to what I do actually get, it's way off.  The difficulty fluctuates allot and in return, it makes mining the coin difficult to speculate what I would make over time.

However, I've had really good luck selling the coins on mintpal for the price I'm asking.  Which makes it profitable IF I can get the coins close to what expected over 24H of mining.

from tens of thousands to few thousand is a big difference.

Your new updated wallet will have version number 2.1.0.0   Fork will go live at block 85803
This fork has been implemented to fix the heartbleed vulnerability and also to install the Digishield technology.
Once we get to block 85803 the fork will go live and DopeCoin will be getting a security upgrade as well as new multi pool protection which will ultimately make DopeCoin easier to mine.

Would someone be kind to explain to me what this really mean?  How will a multi pool protection make it easy to mine and how easy?

Is it normal to mine on a pool for a while and not get anything? Been there almost an hour and no blocks!!

Jest that is completly normal. First blocks will came in about 2-3 hours. It needs more confirmations.

In wich pool do you mine?

http://oly.minecryptocoins.org/

is there a pool you recommend?

Apologies Compumine,
the cron went down, so the blocks you found weren't displaying (but they were still credited to your account).
The good news, you actually found 8 blocks  Cheesy Should all be resolved now, sorry for any inconvenience.

Thank you for your reply and PM, very professional of you.  So, I'm assuming it's all good to mine now?

The SD card I got with my PI is a 16GB.  I read that some of you able to use 8GB!  Will the new 1.4 fit on an 8GB?  What class of cards better to use with PI?
297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New profit-switching mining pool with nightly bonus payout-- CoinSolver.com on: April 21, 2014, 04:01:35 PM
The hashpower is split among different coins. There is usually different coins being mined at once. Say 70% Dope, 30% flutter. The coin switching algo ia always being monitored by VT so i wouldnt worry to much. You can go to Clever and not be told what you are mining, or waffle and mine "hidden" coins. The transparency hwre is bar none.

Are you the pool's operator?

Because you've not given me a reply in reality.  I know what Clever or waffle do.  My question was to the pool's reasoning for mining the less profitable coin showing on the pool's site.  Even the graph shows 100% is going towards that coin!  So where is this 70%, 30% split you are talking about?
298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New profit-switching mining pool with nightly bonus payout-- CoinSolver.com on: April 21, 2014, 03:18:10 PM
I was looking at your pool to consider.

However when looking @ what you're mining according to your site, the pool is minin gthe 4th down coin from the top!! @ present it's mining Flutter (0.00971433 BTC/day/Mhs) while DOPE shows first @ 0.03507254

So why is the pool mining a less profitable coin?
299  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: HASHRA CONTROLA on Raspberry Pi for Gridseed on: April 21, 2014, 02:15:18 PM
Please see hashra.com/support to download version 1.4.0

Now called "HASHRA MINI CONTROLA" as we will have a version for BLADE and another for ATLANTIS.

"MINI" is what we are now calling the Gridseed "5 Chip Devices".

Under the current Hashra controla, you can't do an update?

So I just want to confirm, I have to load the image to the sd cards manually?
300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: LEAFCOIN - NEW UPDATE AVAILABLE - DIGISHIELD + FLATREWARDS + CHECKPOINTS + MERGE on: April 21, 2014, 02:05:01 PM
Coinwarz shows wrong difficulty for LeafCoin!!

You run the calculator and it tells you you're making a number.  Then you mine and realize you're way off.  The result of course is a loss.

Now it's showing difficulty of 0.27016387  but on the pool side, it's 9.06980004

A big difference.
