282  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Increasing bitcoin throughput without centralization on: September 13, 2021, 11:39:57 AM
The development of the lightning network has solved the speed issue with bitcoin transactions, but it is moving its goal to a centralized organization.
I'm interested if it's feasible to improve bitcoin transaction throughput while retaining decentralization.

Another issue, the bitcoin upgrade is coming, and I heard that Bitcoin may include a potential smart contract, but it would still make it appear centralized, is there any way for devs to do that while keeping decentralization?
283  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Prayer and gambling. on: September 12, 2021, 06:27:45 PM
If you think that praying will give you better odds, you're delusional.

Most religions don't condone gambling so why the hell would they respond to prayers in gambling? That absolutely makes no sense.

But empirically there is no correlation - everything is mathematically determined and has nothing to do with your psychology, and the odds are stacked against you due to that.

Core gamblers are the type that is always difficult to persuade and are always the prayerful type, but they are also the ones with the highest probability of winning, the odds are always in their favour, and they are always prayerful, but their belief that gambling a small amount of money will make them rich overnight is a willful delusion. How do you expect to earn thousands of dollars with a single wager and prayer? They are extremely familiar with every bet, but the fact is that they need more money to obtain more money unless they are the kind to come across that unusual luck in gambling.
Coming to the prayer part, you know how we as humans prefer to hope when we are anticipating anything. Instead of tossing a coin, they would rather hope on prayer to determine their faith and mankind has always hope in God and hence, this may not be mathematically proven but it helps many people and eases their way through difficult times. Some claim that prayer works for those who believe; if you believe in stone, it may be your guide amid difficult decision-making and anxiety.
284  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria Local Board, All board discussion welcomed. {No Official Language} on: September 12, 2021, 03:36:06 PM
Nigerians, our mumu never too much?

First, it was MMM, the frauds company that made many cried, they vowed never to look into an online investment again, many lost homes, students dropped out of school due to financial instability and being unable to meet the school fees deadline, some lost jobs, and some were arrested due to loan defaults. We all assumed it was the end, but we had no idea it was the start of a Ponzi investment in our beloved country. MMM fraud techniques gave birth to a plethora of types of online investing, including the popular 10k and earn back 40k in 24 hours scams, which have never ceased despite several warnings from central banks and financial authorities.

Is it really fair to criticize celebrities for using their celebrity to mislead their fans into believing they can make a fortune overnight? Celebrities have a lot of power and play a lot of roles, but their personalities don't impact me in any way; they're just like regular people like me; the only difference is the part we all play in society, and because they're more valued than me, they'll always receive the attention. I'm sure the smart ones here would rather have Satoshi as a role model than any other influencer if he or she could be seen or touched.
Nigerians have evolved to prefer investments that originate from the mouths of celebrities. This is why they always have a lot of attention from the public since they don't have enough stuff to keep their followers on track, which raised the question of whether the central bank would interfere or continue to observe. Last year was the year of wazobia investment and Raskerly, I tried everything in my power to convince some of my scumbags friends well known for gambling to let go of this scheme but everything I did in my power to bring them to the limelight of crypto was futile until the company closed down, they were doomed for life because of mere celebrities.

Yesterday, I came across a discussion on Naija's largest forum, Nairaland, and a topic sparked my curiosity about how Twitter was trending with Eatrich on how they failed to remit billions to investors, and I attempted to investigate where it all originated, and lo and behold, celebs, I wasn't disappointed.
The SEC is monitoring and doing nothing to arrest these fraudsters, but they won't wait a second when they hear crypto in their ears, they don't want to securely invest in cryptocurrency, and they won't let the young use cryptocurrency freely. It's out of control, and the central bank is more concerned about the E-Naira.

Only an idiot would guarantee a % ROI in a short length of time; Nigerians are intelligent, but I'm not sure about this one.

Make I yarn una something weh happen to my cousin sister  Kiss

Last week, my cousin sister's Facebook account was compromised; I'm not quite certain how they did it, but her friend account was first hacked, and then they chatted her to invest on investment normally the doubling schemes, thinking it was her friend who was trying to help her out with a sweet investment, and I was disappointed that she transferred 20k X5 and 5k a single time making a total of #105k and I was highly disappointed how they cheaply sweep her account. She contacted me to ask for my assistance in recovering her money from the fraudsters. Then I called my pals, who advised me to go to the scammer bank, Access Bank but that was another story, you know how we dy do things na  Embarrassed

When I arrived at the bank, I filed a complaint with customer service, and she informed me that the owner of the account must file a complaint with proof of transaction, and after that, we must go to court to obtain an official letter to be presented to the bank before they can freeze the scammer's account. When she heard that, she gave up, knowing that the anguish she would experience would cost her money.
This scammer did not stop with her; he utilized her account to contact other of her Facebook friends in order to trap other naive Nigerians, and it tears my heart that nothing was done.  Angry

With the way things are going, I believe the scammers are aware that banks will not do anything to them even if they find out, except when a scammer wants to swindle another scammer, and I grieve for our beautiful nation.
I advise her that the next time she should invest in crypto rather than do quick money, and for Nigerians, I hope we realize that Bitcoin is the only thing you need, not some celebrity's counsel who is suffering on show business check.

Nigerians must wake up because mumu don too much.

Una Happy Sunday everyone.

all of this is a russian scam un-regulated casino, run by criminals;

According to the history of your posts, you are quite skilled at trolling, which is what lonely individuals do in the hopes of finding someone who would reply to their critiques.
You claimed they scammed you in virtually all of your gaming you played every casino, and if that's the case, you should be the problem because you're the only one complaining.
Perhaps you should reconsider your strategy, as bots do not always win in all situations. I believe I learned that the house is always in favor since things alter as dice gaming progresses.
286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NFT hype-Who knows what the next big thing in crypto will be? on: September 12, 2021, 07:06:35 AM
I started a similar thread in which I expressed similar thoughts. The introduction of NFT has made the world become selfish, called it adoption. In my opinion, many people will have regrets with this fomo they are all into.
I mean, have a look at the punk below, it was just sold for approximately 2000 worth of Ether, does this warrant this price, I will pass, and I will rather hold my ether bag till my dying moment. I've seen how precious artistic designs are and how they're auctioned off, but this one is insane.

Source: live mint

If it is a future gem, I believe the inventor will just keep minting and storing them for future use, they will not simply make a picture and post it to opensea in search of possible purchasers to grab their ether.
287  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambling license on: September 12, 2021, 04:30:44 AM
I'm not sure if such a thing exists. How do you intend to use a license that is not rightfully yours knowing that you will be rolling out an entirely new gambling except you plan to run similar gambling but even then, I thought financial reports were required by regulatory authorities to avoid unnecessary fraud, how do you intend to get around that?
I haven't seen anyone, but it might have happened somewhere else in the world. You know, when you have a license, you get authority to operate by law, and that legislation governs your casino with limits to specific jurisdictions, so you don't want to go outside of where you're not allowed to operate.
288  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How do you calculate the entry and exit of your hour / day positions? on: September 11, 2021, 11:20:06 PM
hi,
I'm not yet experienced enough to keep positions open for more than few hours, I'm more scalping at 1-15mins because I don't trust so much my current skills for predicting the trend.

There is nothing bad in protecting your capital, that's your first priority in every investment, this is why you need to employ risk management whenever you intend to trade. It's very essential in every position.

Quote
Yet, I'm closing the positions too early so I would like to improve my profits.

Now, this depends on your capital, this will determine your reward/risk ratio, taking a trade of $100 with $20 profit will require a upside move of 20%, you should also keep stop-loss at check.

Quote

So, can you share your experience? When do you open but more important, when do you close the position?

For closing position you're using TP, SL or just Market order?

If you don't want to share your tricks here, a private message would be also fine.

thanks

This is where I take fundamental analysis serious.
Going by my experience, I don't trade often but I usually scalp and take the advantage of market volatility especially when the whole thing is dumped and the market pairs is also important.
For example, I have made sxp and ftm my favorite tokens for scalping since they always move on an average of every 4 hours and 1 hours time frame and whenever the market deep, I don't panic because they always bounce back since they have fundamental news coming up and I know people will fomo back.

Lmao! Vitalik can go and eat all the dinner all he want, I can get my hands on that Ether, it's going to be a hold for Ethernity, not what bitcoin has made me see through out 2021 with pump oppression.  Grin Grin
The thing is, having a dinner with a billionaires/millionaires, you ought to be one too because the rich always get richer, even if he give me all the advise and ideas on his head, I may end up no doing any due to lack of funding. I will settle with 150 ether.  Cheesy
291  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid-19 vaccination becoming a criteria to live in the world on: September 11, 2021, 04:53:10 PM
Let's put the propaganda aside for a moment and focus on the positive consequences. The government's job is to ensure that every citizen is secure and properly protected; they don't want one person's life to risk another's, which is why they want you and me to get vaccinated so that everyone is safe.
The difficulty I'm having with this vaccination is the method of administration; I still don't like the notion of injections. I don't want any fluid generated from anywhere in my body system, and the problem of side effects is still being ignored; I wouldn't take any vacation if it isn't addressed, and I can't take a vaccination that will make me sick at the end of the day.
292  Economy / Economics / Re: Two basic things that can give you an advantage on: September 09, 2021, 08:31:12 PM
There are two basic things that need to be implemented when the market suddenly falls like yesterday to make a profit. First, the attitude must remain calm by thinking that it will recover. Second, take the opportunity to buy as many coins as possible, such as top 10 coins.

Unless you are a day trader, I don't see why I should keep a watch on the bitcoin price; it is constantly up and down in the short term, but if you are a long term holder, it won't bother you at all, especially when seen through an on-chain analysis.
Keep accumulating.

My Bitcointalk adventure and early days were purposely for the packs and incentives, I wouldn't lie or deny, that was the picture that was presented to me, how you come here, do some minute writing and receive some penny but when the expectations get low, we tend to find a smart dumb method to defeat the system, and before we realize it, it always ends in ''don't know it was like that.''
Our methods of orientation are quite different, which is why we make mistakes from time to time but does this matter when there are a set of rules and laws that control a system? There should be no justification for failing and failing to do things the right way.

I was redeemed, I went back and corrected the mistakes and learnt new things, which gained me another level, my joy is overflowing, and I will be forever grateful to everyone who helped me grow.
My experience and inexhaustible knowledge gained have improved both within and outside the forum; certainly, the wise one is always given a second chance.
Everyone deserves a fair second chance.
I congratulate myself on becoming a Full Member.

I think this dip is simply millions of poor people getting 30 USD for free and immediately spending them.
We will return to normal within days I'm sure.
Bought the dip.

If you visit Reddit, you will be convinced that El Salvador has a large number of moon boys who hold bitcoin and are eager to acquire more. The 30 USD airdrop of bitcoin is too tiny to produce such a large drop in a matter of minutes, and the wallet was down that day for maintenance owing to several complaints, which were eventually resolved.

I still believe the dump was designed to cast a negative light on bitcoin adoption, as in: "Oh no, bitcoin crashed the day it became legal money in El Salvador; we wouldn't accept this in our nation."..... Undecided Undecided Undecided Undecided

But watch out, it will bounce back as usual like revenge in action movies #TERMINATOR

300  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: A fake trading website on: September 08, 2021, 09:14:13 AM
a guy told me he is living in Los Angeles, tried to attract me to register on a website https://bitchemdtc.com, then I transferred $4500 there, he helped me to do the short trading, and earned $480, but I suspected him after he seemed convincing me to buy $100k or my 401k fund. One friend told me those scammers do the same thing, so I checked his website from https://whois.domaintools.com, and found out the website was registered on the day he asked me to transfer money and the website is in Hong Kong, very suspecious. I am guessing I am scammed because the guy does not reply my message basically unless I said I want to buy a huge amount of BTC.

I am not sure if I can get my $5000 out because it asks me to verify my identity, not sure if I should do it because I will disclose my ID to the fake website

How do you guys wake up and just make a transfer to someone who you don't know, someone you have never seen, not just a hundred dollars but 4k for that matter Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
You even know how to conduct research on a website and you still manage to send him such cash. I'm afraid to say you have been duped, your money is gone and the chances of locating a crook Chinese guy will be low except you live in the same location.
A friendly piece of advice, next time buy bitcoin and sleep, all this shady investment wouldn't attract you when you hold bitcoin.
