281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Motocoin-should we increase block mining speed to make playing more interesting? on: May 26, 2014, 11:00:35 PM
Another idea
1 block=5min
everyone who wins within one block (5 min) gets reward: 100MOTO divided on the number of winners
example: block 5345 starts from 16:35 to 16:40
In this block 6 players made 10 wins: 1 player made 4 wins, 1 player made 2 wins, other 4 players made 1 win, so 1-st receive 40 MOTO, 2-nd 20 MOTO, other 4 get 10 MOTO each.
If it was usual game with central server then something like this would be possible, but this is cryptocurrency, so there are some limitations in what we can do. What you propose is very complicated for p2p system. Sounds like P2Pool but built in cryptocurrency itself.

Actually a pool is feasible. Have the game pull work from a user designated server instead of the wallet. Everyone who trys to solve the map during any block gets a cut of the block even if they didn't finish, its split between anyone attempting to solve the map with an added bonus to the one who solves it first. We just need the game to report even if they didn't fully complete the level so that the pool knows they were playing and knows to pay them.
But then bots can just press random buttons and get a reward.

Not if the pool was built properly. The payout could be proportional to how close you made it to the coin before someone solved it.

Why does anyone want to make a pool for this? Why are we even discussing this?

The way it works at the moment I think WilliamLie's solution will get more people into the game which is a good thing.
After a time this will get saturated and those who feel it is worth their time will play and those who can spend their time doing something else (like making hamburgers, or being a doctor, building a house) will do that and earn money and buy the coins instead.
The players in the end won't do it because its "fair" or fun, they will do it because it is an income and protects the coin. Don't forget the purpose of the game in the end is to act as the crypto for this cryptocurrency.

A pool would bring in players, think about it, if you have a chance to get paid and only have to get near the coin wouldn't you play on that pool? Its better than trying all day and not getting a single coin.

Theoretically, a slow-motion mode could make finding a solution a bit easier.

Z and X slow and speed up the rider.

I can imagine some sort of pool mining for this coin ))). One person target the optimal way, the path devides to several interspaces (like 5) with fixed in-out speed-direction and several players are trying to solve it.
Some sort of online client would be nice as far as not everybody can run the game. Like you can play online within web browser for 3% fee from your mined Motocoins.
And I would appriciate an Android app. Someone should make a bounty for that.

I think the best way to do a pool would be to have a program analyzes a bunch of maps very quickly and find the easiest one for that block. That map would then be fed to the workers. Each worker would try to finish the map. The first one to solve it would get a block finder bonus while the rest is split between everyone trying to finish the map on that block. The problem is how do you tell someone is actually doing the work and doesn't just have a macro going to make it look like he is actually playing therefore cheating the system. Ofcouse you could combat this by implementing something like no pay if you don't reach mid way down the level before the next block. Just spitballing.

329 more blocks until next difficulty adjustment. I bet we are down to under 40 secs this time.

I think we need a leaderboard. Just a block explorer with a list of the addresses with the highest balance. People could sign a message with that address and send it to the person running the leaderboard and get a name put up in place of the address if they choose.

Posting up my first custom background. I'm going to make some more later.

Just save the img and place it in your motocoin/images folder, make sure to back up or rename your current sky.bmp

Here is what it looks like, bitcointalk doesn't want to display bmp's.

Let's make the game easier! I can't tell you how many times I've been an inch away from the damn coin only to have it restart on me! Ugh lol

What that means is that I just took the coin a sec ahead of you.
BWHAHAHAHA!
I now have 75.

I'm addicted.

Another day and I will have 15k 10% of the premine. Which really wasn't that big if you look at it % wise. And I hope this coin does well and the devs get paid because they already gave me a few hours of fun.
When you say 75 do you mean 75 blocks?
Because they you have a serious problem of having too much free time. Smiley

You actually made me go back and calculate it!
I average a block every 5 min. Total time played just over 6h since launch.

You sir are the reason we now have 46 seconds to finish vs 60 seconds just yesterday. lol

cda.charityminingpools.com

wont pay out my canadacoins. I tried to do a withdraw 2 days ago, it said it went through but I never got in my wallet. Then they put up a notice.

Payouts disabled, you will not receive any coins to your offline wallet for the time being

On the pools site it says the transaction is confirmed but I still dont have my coins. Sad

Very difficult, is there any other button except up, down, left, right arrow?

if you hit S it zooms out, its alot easier that way. I also cycle through maps till i find one i like. that would be F6.

Does anyone know if the rotation could be controlled with a joystick or ps3/xbox controller for added accuracy? Keyboard keys are on or off, whereas joystick has a ton of grey area.

What makes this game unhackable?

What stops someone from modding the game so that the moto guy just goes through obstacles?
Or what if someone mods the game to only give maps that are easy?

This game needs music.
