282  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How strong should temporary passphrase be? on: July 14, 2017, 02:25:18 PM
by passphrase i mean additional word not the 24th words u are given

Adding additional words really isn't necessary to increase the security and could perhaps cause issues down the road when you want to restore the seed. 24 words is already plenty secure.
283  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITDICE - 🎲🎲🎲 7 NEW GAMES HAVE BEEN ADDED 🎰🎰🎰 on: July 14, 2017, 02:23:17 PM
Yeah nice to see those stats thanks for sharing. It's his lucky day perhaps. I agree, we may one day put our name in front and somewhat have "bragging rights" with some of our friends.

Yeah those were some nice wins. Looks like he ended up losing some during his next run though and is slightly in the negative now. All it takes is a little bit of luck though and you can turn a nice profit.
284  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Alert : New kind of cloud mining scam on: July 12, 2017, 04:59:40 PM
Yeah, best to just avoid all cloud mining sites in general. If you want to get into mining, you are much better off building or buying a mining rig and operating it yourself. Sure, it is a lot more complicated and time confusing, but you are also a lot less likely to get scammed in the process.
285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I don't see why big blocks are a problem, even 10 MB blocks right now aren't. on: July 12, 2017, 04:58:04 PM
Yeah, if you have blocks that huge it can add up really quickly. Most people won't have the resources to operate such a beefy node either.

Thats a really great chart there by bitfury.
286  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What keeps you coming back??? on: July 12, 2017, 01:32:21 PM
I keep coming back because I'm hoping that I'll win again and gain my loses and to try different strategy that maybe it will work.

The fact is that our greedy nature doesn't leave us and makes us to keep on coming back again and again hoping to win next time but that never happens and majority of times we only loose and once you get addicted to it its very hard to change your habit.

That is a very common scenario of gamblers coming back just to regain the losses but unfortunately some of the gamblers lose while doing this. Keep in mind while we are chasing loses, The chances of losing is high because we are eager to win it back but in the end we ended being a loser or a winner.

Yeah, and we tend to raise our stakes in an effort to recover which makes it easier to lose more in a short timespan. It can be quite dangerous if you aren't able to control yourself.
287  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How I made 1 BTC in one night from a gambling website on: July 12, 2017, 01:30:11 PM
Nice to hear. You won without actually gambling yourself. That is pretty impressive for affiliate earnings.
288  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling percentage of the crypto-economy? on: July 12, 2017, 01:25:40 PM
I don't think there is any accurate number for this, it is like finding the total number of people in the world who are using bitcoins. I don't think it is more than 50% but some say it is which is hard to believe.

I'm not sure about the percentage but what I know is bitcoins are more popular in gambling industry compared to any other industry as of now. Because of its popularity now many people have started to invest in it and most of those people may not be gambling. So there is no way anyone can give you the accurate information for your query.

Yeah, bitcoin fits with the gambling industry quite well. And bitcoin casinos tend to be much better than their fiat counterparts especially with their provably fair implementations. I'd say that the percentage is quite high but it is hard to tell for sure.
289  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Thoughts on Account Signing on: July 12, 2017, 03:48:04 AM
You can always change the address to one that is under your control and you should probably do that as well. The address in your forum profile doesn't really mean much anyway.

There is also a forum topic for staking an address and signing a message to verify in case anything happens to your account in the future:

290  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I start investing in cryptocurrency? on: July 12, 2017, 03:45:39 AM
You can definitely buy part of a bitcoin and not a whole coin. There is no benefit to buying a whole coin.

It is difficult to say if now is a good time to invest or not. We'll have to see what happens with Segwit, but long term it is probably still a good investment.
291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: POW, POS on: July 11, 2017, 03:20:47 PM
Is it possible to make token without POW and POS mining? Can I just make total supply of coins 20 000 000 and with contract create those 20 000 000 coins and put them somewhere. Or I have to use some algorithm to kind of mine them?

If you are creating a new coin, then sure you could just create all the coins and place them somewhere.

However without something such as POW or POS (or some new method), you won't be able to process transactions and confirm them on the blockchain. The purpose of mining is to confirm transactions and include them in new blocks on the chain. Without a method to handle this, the coin wouldn't be very useful.
292  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Getting started with ASIC mining on: July 11, 2017, 01:31:10 PM
I am rather new to the crypto-scene, but I have been thinking more and more about purchasing and starting up my very own ASIC miner, more specifically ANTMINER L3+, as I have grown most fond of Litecoins. I got a whole bunch of dumbass questions, brace yourselves.. Cheesy

1) As far as I can understand, before purchasing the miner, I should find out if the electrical circuit can take the 800W machine? Any ideas where or how I can find that out? I live in a private house, if that changes anything.

2) As to the purchasing of the miner, I need the miner itself, the PSU and the 10A cable for the PSU, correct? That is all?

3) The wifi connection in my house can be a bit jumpy, is the miner capable of reconnecting to the network successfully if a disconnection should appear?

4) Bitmain obviously sells the miners, are there any other quality and trusted providers?

1) I'd imagine most houses can support an 800W machine. There are plenty of desktop PCs that use moe than 800W without an issue. Not sure how you would find that out without doing some sort of testing though.

2) Yeah, the miner, PSU, and cable should be all you need.

3) You would be plugging in the miner via ethernet and not connecting over Wifi I believe. That said, I'm sure they are able to reconnect if the internet drops out.

4) Bitmain is the best place to buy from as they are the direct source. Not sure on other trusted providers.
293  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just received small BTC randomly? Strange transactions. on: July 11, 2017, 01:26:46 PM
A fee of 0.39 sat/B haha. I've seen transactions like this before where they are advertising a service or website or something but I don't seem them doing that here ( at least not  very visibly ).
294  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Selling bitcoins on: July 11, 2017, 01:22:47 PM
Hi friends, it has been quite a long time since i joined this forum after my friend told about me bitcoins and the value it will have after few years. It took me nearly 8 months to understand how btc works.

But as time went on i got more additiced to faucets as i was eager to earn btc. I used to spend most of the time with my mobile trying to earn from faucets. To my disappointment, i only earned 100k satohis for the past months. Then i realized that these faucets are of no use to earn and the only way to earn btc was to offer some service or joining any campaign.

After 10 months, i got a chace to work in a campaign and i did receive my payment. I wanted to sell the btc which was in my Coinbase wallet. I live in India so i thought most of members sell them on localbitcoins. When i sent the btc from my wallet it took 60k satohis as tranfer fee and was charged another 48k sathois in local bitcoins as fee. Now i only have 85k satohis in my wallet. I feel very heart broken that i have lost my btc just on fee.

Can some one help which is best wallet where i can store my btc and will not have charges for selling my btc. Your answers will really help me in the future.

Unfortunately, fees are required for all Bitcoin transactions so you are going to get stuck with fees regardless of which wallet/service you use. You can send a lower than normal fee and wait a long time for it to confirm if this is something you are interested in doing. I would say that it probably really isn't worth selling low values such as 100k satoshi due to the fees involved.
295  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Letting MS excell get market data from exchanges on: July 11, 2017, 01:19:00 PM
Hello,

I was wondering if it is possible to get MS Excel to interact with an exchange such as bittrex or poloniex using my accounts API key.

I would want to bring in the realtime vallue's of certain cryptocurrencies/assets into excel without manually having to enter them all in there each time i wanna do a check,
anyone know if and how this is possible?

I'm not sure if Excel supports something like this, but you should be able to at least use the API to grab the values and then write a script to place them in a CSV file which could be imported to Excel. You would of course need some programming experience or know/hire someone to code it for you.
296  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Semi cold storage on: July 11, 2017, 01:17:31 PM
Yeah, it should be a bit safer than using your normal laptop. Be aware that malware can also read from the USB device so if you do end up getting infected, having it on the USB device doesn't make you any safer. Using a live OS like Tails, does increase security though.

If you have extra funds available, I'd recommend looking into a hardware wallet such as Ledger Nano S or Trezor.
297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CrowdSale Ended]🌟🌟🌟🌟 NVO Decentralized Exchange | MultiWallet 🌟🌟🌟🌟 on: July 11, 2017, 03:30:32 AM
supposedly they have been in talks with Bittrex so hopefully we can get some price discovery soon on what the market values these at.

I can see no reason to rush to exchanges

Yeah, there isn't a lot of reasons to rush to the exchanges. Getting the wallet/software up and running in a stable state is more important.
298  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Bitcoin Price is going down ? on: July 11, 2017, 03:26:58 AM
Yeah, the fork coming up is definitely causing some people to worry as there is a lot of uncertainty around what will happen after the fork. In the long run, bitcoin will come out ahead though, just need to let the dust settle.

Galaga was always one of the better arcade games. Donkey Kong was also fun though.

Does long term goal guarantee anything or more precisely does it make you help more safer about your investments ? I think not. The risks are still there.

Yeah, if you treat it as a long term investment, the house edge is more likely to kick in and help ensure profits. Of course there are still risks, but it is safer than trying to time your investment with the action of gamblers.
