Again, the supporters of stricter laws about guns will scream that we need to limit the people's access to weapons. I will say that the reason is not the weapon. People who use weapons in such situations mentally abnormal. In China or Japan and there are mass killings with a knife.

It has been this way since the beginning, just imagine the stone age where they caved weapons out if rock, men gought wars and committed genocide with mere stone and imagine how direct such actions were, and same thign in our generation, it's it's easy to kill with a gun all you need to do is pull the trigger and boom Someone is dead, no matter the laws introduced and as long as weapons remains legal, incidents like this won't be the last.
282  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Jamb 18 years benchmark for admission, what's your take? on: May 02, 2024, 07:52:32 PM
Jamb is set to fully follow up on the 18-year minimum range before one can be considered for admission into the tertiary institution effective from this current set.

We know of recent, a lot of underage student are now the majority of those in the higher institutions with most of them in there 16 to 21years who most times aren't emotionally strong enough to copping with what's optiable in the tertiary institution but then, some others do well while they are still young and haven't started facing lot's of distractions and responsibilities that can potentially affect There studies.

Telling a young teenager that has finsih his secondary school at 16 to wait for a period of two years before applying for jamb could go a long way to draining the student nature in the child and some might end up being discouraged before the set time.

What's your view regarding this? Should age be the primary factor that determines if a child is matured enough to start his undergraduate journey?

This is just bullshit to me, what are their plans if not to frustrate young people that have gotten admission, normally I  am more provoked by this news cause my younger sis that is just 15 scored high in jamb this year and I am already congratulating her for the win, this is just rubbish to me, i wonder how this is a renovation of any kind or they would just wake up one morning and say whatever they feel like whej there are rela matter that need attention to than this, I bet they would still be another ASU strike this year and which is more important to fix.
283  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Don't keep your hope in any news of bitcoin on: May 02, 2024, 07:47:42 PM
Sometimes the news of bitcoin maybe contradictory and when hoping on positive news of bitcoin you maybe backslide, because many people have thought that the price of bitcoin is now getting upright but it shock some people who hoped-for speculation of Bitcoin and believes that as people speculate on price of bitcoin that the price will be going up all through this year, whereas the price of bitcoin is depreciating in the market almost every day, so I don't know why bitcoin can not be depending on.

Your entire post took me a while to read cause you made a lot of typo error, try dey crosscheck watin you dey write before you post am, I don't see how anyone is depending on bitcoin except those that are short term investors that maybe took all their life savings and invested in bitcoin in the name of bull run, but this hardly concern long term investors that has seen all this countless times or are more focused on just accumulating bitcoin and trying to grow their stash in bitcoin.
284  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: May 02, 2024, 07:30:55 PM
Right now instead of getting panic on the dump people can continue to accumulate since their aim is for the long term and not for short-term trades. If they got afraid for sure they would be the loser in the long run.
this period is obviously in line with the statement that Everytime is the best time to buy BTC and the DIP is even the better time to buy more. although $57k isn't all that DIP and for most people that are buying there BTC using the DCA methord, it doesn't make a big difference if the market is getting bullish or bearish since you've already set out an amount that will regularly go into your weekly or monthly DCA and would have to continue in your stacking regardless of the market trend but if the resource is available, correction like this presents a perfect opportunity to buy more. But you know that if the amount you're using for your weekly or monthly DCA isn't much, regardless of wether Bitcoin is at $57k or $80k, you aren't really on a big advantage that much since what's really a major factor that determines if you're in profit or that determines if buying at certain DIPs will put you in good profit is that you've bought more BTC at such time.

DCA is a good strategy but we can't look down on the fact that mixing up strategies is even better when accumulating bitcoin, you might be thinking that 57k isn't much of a dip but I tell you that this might be the lowest the price can get or it can also dip even more, so what do I do if I were thinking like you are, I split the amount I wanted to use to buy bitcoin into parts and buy as the price continues to dip that way I'm better off than waiting for one big dip that may never come.

I think at this point fkr most of us that have been growing our reserves this might be a good time to start buying, we have talked a lot about waiting for dips and how unlucky you can be, it's good you take advantage of what you see that wait any longer.
285  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: May 02, 2024, 06:12:45 PM
Almost everyone here wants to do 100 pushups in a short amount of time. I am one of them. Even if the mind wants to, many cannot do it due to physical disabilities. Meanwhile, I was very interested in finding out how to do 100 pushups in a short time without getting physically injured. Searching I found a video where it is possible to do 100 pushups in just 10-15 minutes without getting injured. I will try to do pushups like this video from tomorrow. Video link for those interested- https://youtu.be/IYLxm0T6qls?si=6W5fVr3Wznj_wZ0Y
Interesting video, thanks for sharing, but to be honest with you, I think this is easier when watched, than when done 😁, so, lets just say that, it's easier to watch this, and say, "I will do it", than actually doing it.

I am not really into this though, but I think I've become motivated enough to try; just by coming around and reading comments on this thread, 100 push ups a day isn't an easy fit, most especially seeing that Bitcoin has gone farther away from being close to $100k 😁, if I will join this challenge, I will have to start with 20 push ups first, then increase it as I become more and more used to it, hope this is allowed?

Here I understand how you feel right now maybe more than others cause cause actually felt this way when I wanted to start, I even sat several days on the decision and would procastinate doing push-ups from time to time, but all that changed when my reason to changed, think of it more as a means to keep fit and stay healthy.

You would be surprised how quickly you would get used to it once you get started, you must not start at 100, do what you can, I know that even a kid can do at least 10 a day. You can also try to spread the pushups within the day to reduce the stress and fatigue on yourself and also 3nd up doing more in the process.

Make sure to include the right format to post.

It's been a while since i last reported here and for a truth I've been quite busy and have little chance to report here, but anyway Im still doing well with my daily pushups and my progress has been quite outstanding and I have been consistently doing 100 pushups for the past 5 days and yo me it's a major progress. A reminder to everyone just starting, I wi is be so easy at first especially if your doing it for the first time, buy as you go on it gets easier and you get better at it.

My report.

286  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy Buy Buy or Sell Sell Sell? on: May 02, 2024, 05:38:18 PM
Proper buying time is when market goes to correction mood. Or after end of bull runs, you can check market was down for long. That was the time for investment and pick your Listed altcoins. Even in 2023, we also have opportunity to buy with lower price. But in 2024, everything is already overpriced. So buy is risky. But if someone didn't buy anything yet, then Market correction could an opportunity for investment. As like yesterday when market was down. But don't sell if you are holding btc ether or others potential altcoins. Cause these coins are doing be huge in upcoming days
I smell a lot of shitcoinery here,

I Really still hate the fact that you place bitcoin and other shitcoins I like terms as tho the factors I should co sider with bitcoin and those altcoins are the same, you just kept on mentioning how risky it is to buy now the price is up as tho bitcoin is some kind of ponzi meme coin that people should be scared off when considering to invest in bitcoin, do you mean that if anyone didn't buy last year its too late for him to buy?, I guess not cause what matters if for then to get the fuck started with accumulating bitcoin and consider holding for long term so they can have enough time to build a sizable stash in bitcoin investment.

No matter who you take advice from when it comes to investing in Bitcoin, everyone will advise you to invest in Bitcoin for the long term. Because not everyone can buy a large amount of Bitcoins, they want to stretch their investment for a long period of time so that they can accumulate small chunks that will eventually turn into large chunks. And you say some people may not know the difference between long term investment and short term investment yet but I think those who have reviewed this thread well on Buy the DIP, and HODL must have known about this difference and even they have come to know how Bitcoin is long termmust keep.

Investing in Bitcoin is currently not a difficult thing, but we must have sufficient capital in this field so that we can start with confidence and that alone is not enough, we have to switch and also increase our knowledge about this, Bitcoint is a program which is good and must be maintained for those of us who want to start or learn to invest with bitcoin, this will be an effort or breakthrough for those of us who have insight into this matter to start getting something that we can start small and maintain it for something that will become big.

Hello awak bambi, I don't think you are right about it been so necessary that anyone must have sufficient capital to have confidence or do well with bitcoin, you can start to invest with even little capital as little as 10$ into bitcoin using the DCA strategy and think about it in trying to stack up bitcoin little by little over the time, let's say that I'm earning as low as 50$ per week and I want to invest in bitcoin and after I'm able to do my calculations and realise my disposable income I can decide to invest that amount in bitcoin that week, what matters more when using the DCA method is remaining consistent in buying bitcoin and that way you can end having a good stash in bitcoin.

It's mostly preferd that we invest in bitcoin with a time line of up to 4-10 years, and lests consider the first five years of someone that is investing with 10$ on a weekly basis into bitcoin, he should have invested about 520$ for his first year and 2600$ for his first five years, at this point he woudl be better off than someone who waited to first get a very huge income before starting to invest, let's assume two persons that both know about bitcoin 10 years back and one decided to start accumulating with the little he had and the other waited for 6 years to have a job promotion before starting to invest in bitcoin, which of both would have a bigger stash of bitcoin in the 10 years, you can do that calculation yourself and see that it's better to start right away with the little you have than wait.
288  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy Buy Buy or Sell Sell Sell? on: May 02, 2024, 04:01:25 PM
I am not assuming anything, except that anyone investing into bitcoin has to have discretionary income if such persons are going to invest into bitcoin or anything else.  If such persons do not have discretionary income then they are gambling rather than investing, and I am not suggesting that anyone gambles.
This is what is happening now sir.. Lips sealed

Sure, a lot of people make mistakes at various times because they might be investing beyond their discretionary income, so then they may well get frustrated when the BTC price drops because they were hoping it to go up so that they could scalp off some profits.. which surely some times those techniques can work in favor of the person who is gambling, but surely it does not seem to be a good way to approach such a volatile asset like bitcoin tends to be.

Just on some other thread someone was angry about the fact that they said its better to invest with money that you can afford to lose or disposable income and this also came to heart, it's possible that must people that invest more than their disposable income normally have some high hopes for bitcoin and just invest some huge amount and they are not even ready for the reality that bitcoin is volatile and can also go low.

I believe that this advice is good to let people know that they is possibility to encounter loss in your bitcoin investment and its good to invest with what you may feel okay to lose, and moreover your investing long term that means you have enough time to accumulate bitcoin and using DCA you can just set an amount to invest on a regular basis.
289  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: May 02, 2024, 03:36:26 PM
How will you be able to increase the quantity of your stack when your plan is to invest an amount you can afford to lose? It doesn't sound right that you're buying an asset like Bitcoin with the mindset that you might loose your investment in the process and giving you the idea that it's best you invest so small such that if you loose in the process it wouldn't affect you. That mentality is only going to hinder you from attempting to invest above 5% to 10% of your income and that in itself means you're just gambling and don't understand what's the prospect of Bitcoin. Investing into Bitcoin isn't gambling that's a 50/50 thing and that's why Bitcoin entosiast like micro strategy still buys the amount of Bitcoin they are currently buying. Do you think they are buying at such pace and with such amount because they want to loose as high high $13.6B worth of Bitcoin? Once you're talking about investing with the fear of a possible market collapse  then it goes to show you can't invest inti bitcoin for the long run and that any correction you see with look like a threat that will tend to give you the impression of pulling out your asset.

When Investing in any asset it is right that we have a possible set of senerio that can occur and prepare likewise, now in this case everyone is hoping that his bitcoin investment would do well and bring profits which is a possibility than can occur and there is also a possibility for the opposite to happen and you end up losing your investment, and it's also good to take that into account so you don't end up put all your funds into bitcoin, your right that someone might decide to invests only 10% of his income to bitcoin because of this but that is what he thinks its okay to invest despite knowing that bitcoin could also do well and give him profits and another person woudl do the exact opposite and decide to invest more aggressively even knowing this and that is what he can also afford to lose cause he has a higher risk tolerance than the other.

Everyone must have to decide how much he feels comfortable with to invest and this could be a whimy investment or a aggressive investment, yeah you understand that you may think that I you want more out of bitcoin you should also invest more but not everyone would fell comfortable having so much in bitcoin and might think as a safety measure to diversify or have more cash around, IMO it all depends on the risk tolerance of the individual.

And what those that think about diversification too early forgets to consider is if they can handle diversification, yeah surely there are some persons that are already well built in terms of finance and have enough money to both funds investing in bitcoin and another asset without cheating his bitcoin investment and there is also another that has only enough for one asset and if he tries to diversify would end up cheating bitcoin, and surely people tend to forget that the game of getting rich is all about concentration in the sence i mean having enough in one asset that would be able to generate profits for you and then you can use that profit to build other asset.

I agree.  It is better for people who are starting out with a relatively small amount to build one first before adding anything else, and there likely is no rush to add anything else, but there may be some need to balance cash amounts with the bitcoin amounts in order to figure out levels of aggressiveness in regards to how fast to attempt to accumulate a sizable bitcoin position... and yeah, some folks might not have options to establish a sizable position in less than 5 years and some of them might take closer to 10 years before they start to feel they start to need to diversify... but yeah, a person can become more informed about himself and his preferences to diversify while he is building his bitcoin investment.. and he might not know exactly in advance when he is going to start to feel needs to spread out his investments a bit more.

Why I personally disagree with early diversification especially if you are not earning high is cause most poor person might already have issues with having an emergency funds available before investing and now they need to also cater for their emergency funds and other cash reserves alongside thier bitcoin investment, now adding diversification to that equation would only mean that s/he needs to either take cash from his emergency funds to build the other asset or woudl have to divide his bitcoin investment into parts to invest in other asset and this in both cases are wrong.

Firstly the idea of having having an emergency fund around is so that we can easily access it when we need it for an emergency and it acts as an insurance for our investment, so in a case where a person might start to consider using this funds to diversify into other asset in the name of having a blanket can in turn be the worst decision ever made, yeah and in your first reply you also talked about how lack of conviction or disbelief can leave room for shitcoiner to give their shity advice.

Secondly if the person consider splitting his cash for bitcoin to other asset then he might end up not ever getting rich out of either of them, cause the only way to prepare for up is to get buying bitcoin as aggressive as one can be, and this question is such person even has any plans of benefiting off bitcoin at all.

Electricity can be a major challenge for any business that uses machines and right now the old solution of having a generator just got expensive because of the fuel scarcity we are facing now and other alternative are too expensive for a common or average person to afford like solar energy that can power high duty machines.

292  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Always chanel your effort to meaningful things. on: May 01, 2024, 03:46:18 PM
What you've said is true OP, these days you can find alot of youths indulged in one usless habit or the other that eats up their energy but they would still continue with it, at times it could be playing games with our mobile phone but for someone over the age of 18, I think you should have a better hobby than games at this point cause, your life just got a lot of responsibility and challenges you would encounter if you don't take time to invest in reasonable things like reading books, working and self development.
293  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does gambling excites you ? on: May 01, 2024, 03:39:14 PM
Yes of course, a lot if things excite me and one of them is when i engage in gambling conversations especially about football teams, if you have ever been a part of one you would see a lot of people giving a lot of valid reasons why they feel some odds would most likely happen over the other and I always listen to gain some experience off them.

You would also find me wanting to place bets on football matches, tennis games or local games with friends to spice it up and considering my gender Its weird to be amongst such gathering, so of I'm not at the comfort of close friends, I prefer to stay indoors and gamble, but I hate losing and one I lose twice or trice I out, especially when I'm playing alone at a online casino game.
294  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Misunderstanding of Halving by Bitcoin enthusiast. on: May 01, 2024, 03:31:56 PM
Many persons were expecting the price of bitcoin to soar after the halving and gave so much hype to it, many people who usually follow trends were forced to invest in bitcoin, just imagine what would happen if the price suddenly goes lower and the bear comes. This is a lesson that we should not follow trends to invest or public opinion, bitcoin is unpredictable and the halving was never designed to give any price increase to bitcoin, its all a hype and it doesn't guarantee anything.

While it's true that we must remain patient in any of our life endeavour, I also hate the idea that there is anything like someone's turn, I strongly believe that the reason anyone is on top is because of what he knows and the effort he puts in doing his work.

You would see two market women in the same location and one having more customers than the other and at times they would think it's something spiritual or the other person is more favours, but I prefer to see it as they is something that one is doing that the other is not, so the truth is improve yourself and you would get more, it's your tile and its now.
296  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Try all your best to gain knowledge on: May 01, 2024, 02:24:19 PM
The bible says "My people perish because of lack of knowledge" and this is a prove that without knowledge anyone would suffer and at most times even fail.

After feeding the body we must also feed our mind if we want it to give us the best it has too offer, no body is dumb they only lack the know how, some people don't even know how to think, if you hear then speak you would know that they have been filled with the wrong knowledge throughout their lives and for that reason they act that way.

Knowledge can also help us in our daily lives as participants of this forum and can even help you gain respect as a forum member cause you continue to bring new knowledge and usefulness to the forum.
297  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Democracy in Nigeria on: May 01, 2024, 01:40:34 PM
It really amase me when we say that Nigeria is a democratic nation. if u look at what is happening in Nigeria, u will see that power belong to the leaders instead of the people, the masses are voiceless.

The point is that Nigeria masses have always been scared to make the democracy work by ensuring that leaders do what they are suppose to do. Right for peaceful protest is enshrined in the constitution but having coordinated mind is the real challenge. The youth in Nigeria are divided along different lines like especially religion and ethnicity, so that actually affects the togetherness of the youth during election. The youth has what it takes to unite to take over the country for good but den some youth go still run go under the old politicians because dem don brainwash dem out of right things to do and for sake of money.

You can hardly blame them for that, no one wants to be a scapegoat for others, if you can recall the incident from end sars, people died for retaliation against the government even as a peaceful protest and now nobody would want to risk that against tinubu cause it happened by his command last time when he wasn't even in command as a president talk more of now.

298  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: We should control our tongue at all time. on: May 01, 2024, 01:03:29 PM
Thank you OP for sharing this experience with us, it shows that it's not good to go around talking anyhow to people just because you feel that way, words are very powerful and can cause a lot of harm if not used properly and I her case she put herself in a difficult situation because of that, even the bible did want us about how important it is to tame the tongue.

Another thing I would also warn us about is how quick we can be to lay curses or insults to our children or siblings without minding that we hurt their feelings this can later lead to low self esteem in children.
299  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Rise of eSports Betting on: April 29, 2024, 11:43:25 PM
The reason for this is the way they have used technological advancements and social media to reach out to a lot of persons, to gamble has gotten a lot more easy and private as you only need your phone and data connection to gamble and you dont need to be tagged as a gambler anymore  or looked in a way by the society, so yeah they solved the problems of traditional gambling system in a way hence why they are most preferred in this era. And another thing is how huge and life changing amounts people can win so its a drag to lots of poor people and has also a lot of testimonials popping out of it.

It's your choice, I font know how long you have been in bitcoin and how much Bitcoin you have already accumulated, but surely if you ard still early or still accumulating then you shoudl be more bothered about buying bitcoin, so yes it's a good time to buy bitcoin.

I can also understand that you might feel that buying now and if this is the highest point then you woudl have to suffer a loss on your portfolio, but that shouldn't matter if you are still early cause the dip is actually an opportunity for you to buy more Bitcoin for yourself.
