281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [LTCD] LitecoinDark.com ★ Scrypt ★ Bittrex ★ Cryptsy ★ on: October 10, 2014, 12:54:21 AM
Wow, some nice fud the last few pages from people that want a P&D coin and don't have any clue as to what it takes to develop something so I'll offer my perspective.

The roadmap "dates" are immaterial.  Things on that list will be delayed, they will switch places and some will be dropped and new things added. That's the nature of development as new ideas come out and/or you hit difficulties.  All that matters is that there is constant progress even if it's slow at times.  And it will be slow at times as the dev tackles some of the more difficult features.  That's going to cause the price to fluctuate as the day traders and those in the coin for quick profits manipulate things.  That's natural and anyone investing in the coin needs to understand that and ignore all those that will come in the thread whining about it.  I'll be blunt though.  As someone that has a lot of development experience, when I look at the roadmap, I believe that many of the items on there will get shifted by a couple weeks as the development time for some of them feel too short to me.  IMO things will stretch out to more like Feb 2015 for the completion of all the listed features.

Yes, right now LTCD doesn't offer much but it's the devs (TrollByFire) vision that is important here.  Outside the features outlined, what's more important is that he's developing a coin that is more akin to being plug and play.  The features are being developed in a modular manner with the Difficulty shield being the first part of that.  If a new difficulty method was needed, it's just a matter of dropping in a replacement.  Once Tor is done, if there are issues with it or it needs a security upgrade, you drop in a new module.  Adding new features down the road also becomes more along the lines of dropping in a new module which, although not always a given, would not require recompiling the core.

PoS vs Tor switching places.  Anyone that thinks Tor is somehow more important than PoS, is only interested in the coins current price and short term profits.  PoS is an important step (along with the block reward change), towards long term stability and viability of the coin.  As such it's very important it gets done "now".  Based on a conversation I had with the dev a couple weeks ago, it's also my understanding that this will be a "new" method that will improve upon some of the issues inherent in PoS coins that are based on the old "coin age" method in coins like Peercoin.  The one thing I really don't like though is that the whitepaper says 0%.  Coins will be lost etc as time progresses and IMO there needs to be some marginal rate along the lines of 2%.

Reward change.  Ok, yeah, that's been a bit of a mess.  First there was the failed implementation but that sort of thing will happen at times.   Interestingly, there was 3 or so other coins that had block chain issues and even a coin hack at the same time.  One of those took a couple weeks of the network basically being down to get fixed.  Since then there's been the miscommunication about when it would finally be implemented since the initial announcement about the wallet update said it was a mandatory update which many took to mean it included the block reward change.  Well that shit happens especially with a new team that are learning how to communicate with each other.  But it does not mean that somehow the dev isn't implementing it as some have suggested.

To sum up, when you're writing new code and/or changing the underlaying code, development takes time and cannot be predicted to exact dates.  If you want to invest in a coin, then invest in the dev, his vision, and the strength of the community.  If you're looking to "get rich quick", find a pump and dump coin.

+1.

Good stuff!   Grin

Maybe Groupcoin would be into this.  His name is Bosman.
283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Revamped PinkCoin (PC / PINK) PoS | Multipool | Fundraiser | Anonymous on: September 25, 2014, 11:34:23 PM
Poker is by no means our main focus, it was a project that only took about 3 weeks. As stated before it is a marketing tool that will allow some of our team mates and members to expand our community and appeal to some big money players. On that note however, since poker, I have heard many people say "this is the first time I've actually used an altcoin for something". Poker serves its purpose, it is giving people something to do with their Pinkcoin while we continue development on more real world adoption features.

Pinkcoin is still heavily focused on real world adoption, and our charities. Don't let all the Trolls fool you into thinking otherwise. Our dev team is exactly as the name states, "developers". We can build anything, and plan on building a lot of different tools. If you are unhappy with our marketing efforts and the routes we've taken to spread the word. Than instead of complaining, do something about it. We are DEVELOPERS, not marketing gurus, and business man. This is a community coin, and requires community members to step forward and do what they can to help.

We have built a solid reputation as people that work our asses off, deliver, and can be trusted beyond any team out there. We are not going anywhere.

As for what we are currently working on, you can travel back a couple pages to my last post and see that we are building an online wallet that will integrate all of our systems. This will also allow us to complete Pay With Pink and offer 100's of new ways, methods, and reasons to use your Pinkcoin as a currency.

The community asked for anonymous transactions, we delivered.
The community asked for a Twitter bot, we delivered.
The community asked for a new wallet, we delivered.
The community asked for Poker, we delivered.

If you ask for it, you get it. We have only built these systems because they were requested. If we had it our way, we would have completed pay with Pink, and Pinkcoin would be accepted by 100's of vendors right now.

I am sorry if I sound frustrated, but we are bending over backwards and working day and night to give the community what they want. Than when we are done, nobody uses the systems, and everyone bitches that we have strayed from our initial path. I understand that a few people in here, are likely only doing it to crash the price in order to get more cheap Pinkcoin, but I do not like people questioning our ideals and integrity. Especially after we have proven time and time again, that we are here to stay, care about others, and only want to please the masses.

EDIT:
Quick Roadmap:

Wallet.pink
Online wallet that will integrate all of our Pinkcoin systems. You can allocate balances to specific systems, better tracking, and usability. One wallet to rule them all.

exchange.pink
Will allow people to exchange other altcoins and BTC into Pinkcoin. This will be done automatically, and your Pinkcoin will be directly deposited into your online wallet.

Pay With Pink
Will allow vendors that currently accept Paypal, to also accept pinkcoin without actually being paid in Pinkcoin. Vendors will receive Fiat for purchases made with Pinkcoin via Paypal.
This will also open the doors to buying pinkcoin with Fiat.

These are the 3 up and coming features that we are currently building and integrating together, and into our current systems.
Upon their completion, Pinkcoin will not only be accessible by the masses, but it will be easy to egt your hands on.

I like all the features and buy the lottery tickets often.  Not a big gambling man myself, well other than crypto, so I prefer to let my coins stake.  This is the only coin I do that with and actually hodl long term, maybe to many people are like me!  I would like to say great work as well building one of the best coins out there.  I shall go buy some more on this dip and send out a few more lotto tickets!

I can see your point but we want to be on some big name exchanges. Ltcd is not your average new coin lol. Smiley

I think it can support the three big exchanges comfortably..

I joined that group, they have only informed us of a excellent coin to get into.  Apparently the group is moving away from pump and dump...  Right now the word is to get as much of this coin as possible. Hope that helped.

Guys i am out. Never again will i support this coin anymore. As from now on the only coin a hold will be vericoin. The people or person who scammed this time i hope one day he will get wat they/he deserve!

Agreed. I got hijacked and am positive it was francecrypto (one of the two users with twitter access who was trusted when he was brought on board to support twitter). He is either behind this or he gave the login details to someone else. Disregard anything that doesnt get posted by me on BCT. Twitter access will be changed when i can get to my computer at home tonight.

I vouched for you before Bosman and again I have no problem.  What ever happened to taking your losses like a man and moving on. No honour...  Having had access to the account I can say I did not see anything at all to make me feel any inappropriate things were happening.  There was plenty of opportunity to do so and it would have been done if that was the intention.  This is an honest Canadian who loves crypto and has been transparent and clear with his intentions.  Nobody really gets the idea behind the coin and its a shame.  It was all about us and our opportunity to get away from the greed and set ourselves apart.  Instead someone or a few people showed all of crypto that the greed is everywhere.  I am proud to say I still live with honour and live by my word and hope that those involved have had experience with Karma.  The only mistake I see is trusting a stranger with your online reputation.

After we have referred 5 people, and it says
"You have helped 5 users discover Aricoin!

You will receive your x coin bonus when you have sent 5 sign-ups."

What do we do?

Just sit and wait. And while you are waiting, try to figure out just what the angle is here. What could they possibly be getting from this exercise? Because it certainly smells funny right now. No further posts, no answered questions, no explanations in any way.

Seems odd, no?

They responded right away on Twitter.

They will check and see if the email addys are fake as 2/3rds of them are proving to be fake.  There is nothing more to do if you have the 5.  I have over 13 and just got off DM with them.

I say turn this into a 50/50 coin and run a giant draw weekly or daily for that matter.  Give to a cause of some sort which changes often dependant on the demands of the community.  This will drive demand for the coin and it should not be hard to set up.  Maybe the groupcoin becomes the bottle depot of coins where everything would be accepted and converted to groupcoin for this purpose.  Other coins would be accepted at a reduced rate to further profit.  A few early bird draws to top it off and you have have yourself a coin.  Hell play the market and give away the popular coins groupcoin bought at reduced rates as prizes and ride their hashtags for more exposure.

How is that Greenback treating ya?  Groupcoin is giving away 10000 of them!  Bla Bla Bla we accept all coins towards our weekly draw for a million groupcoin or whatever the number of sufficient value to be a cool prize.

It's gold Jerry...gold.

Honestly... this is what i could call "SCAM" and the worst is that people are accepting that so easily. I bought this GPC at 1000 bits because of the whitepaper, promises of development and all the news here that @Bosman was posting and now he say it is leaving, why? Because was all a big scam? It is the only thing i could think right now. Im out of this and wherever i see ur name again @Bosman i know now, it is all fake and scam. Normally i dont write this kind of post but i think now is the best moment to start doing it.

I always find it interesting how people define scams here. There are obvious ones, when devs don't deliver ipo coins... devs who take ipo money and then don't spend it on the coin ... devs make grand promises of features, then bail ... hidden premines, hidden viruses... a number of different flavors of scam.

But if an investor loses money, is it a scam? I have difficulty figuring how how Bosman scammed anyone exactly. He took in around 3 btc, which he stated upfront was a donation, spent a decent portion I expect on the block explorer + mobile wallet + pumping his own coin (in retrospect, I consider that a mistake). If he made any money from trading, it was probably offset somewhat from his expenses supporting the coin.

I do think he probably should stick it out. But if a dev gives it their best shot and it doesn't work out, does it equate to a scam? Just wondering why people may feel that way. And losing your money because you decided to buy the coin at a high does not equate to a scam. It was a bad investment decision, but not necessarily a scam.

This pretty much sums it up (I lost money on GPC, not made).

I have reached the limit of what I can offer for GPC. I feel it is better to generate a discussion on who can do a better job and actually take over than just walk away. I'd hope you all see the positive aspect of this Smiley

I had a vision for this project and learned quickly that there was no buy-in, at least by the people who could facilitate the rolls and responsibilities the coin required.

Unless I raise a pile of BTC and just pay for upgrades, I won't (myself) be able to move GPC forward. I have always been very clear this was a hurdle that needed to be overcome. This project needs devs who can volunteer and invest their time for a return.

I didn't scam anyone, and I was really confident I would get a positive response from the whitepaper. Instead, I got nothing. No one is interested beyond making a quick return.

I speculated, as did many of you, that this would work (at least the way I envisioned it). Nothing is a guarantee, especially in this space. I refused to make any sort of road map for the coin that would stoke further speculation (like so many actual scam coins) because I felt that would be disingenuous.

The real tragedy here is coins, with 300-1500 BTC ICO's that promise the world way ahead of their proposed development schedule are being allowed to go to market with little to no consequence. If my intention was to scam, this would have been the way I would have approached it. I attempted to do the exact opposite. Think about that.

I am waiting for a responsible, verifiable party, to approach me to look at rebooting the project. I will notify everyone once that person(s) have been discovered and initiate the transition.

This was a novel experiment that I felt could change this space for the better. Instead, I (we) have learned that the majority of those in the alt space only care for quick profits and manipulation to achieve those profits.

I will remain here and ready when those who are fed up with the status quo and have the talents necessary to move this project forward connect with me.

I can honestly say I don't believe this was a scam.  Ifor you actually read up on Bosman you can see his motivation and if you dig around you can find info on what his intention was.   I can say from the DMs on his Twitter act that is did not seem to be a scam to me.  There was a fair amount of behind the scenes dialog that I will not share, but was in my opinion on the level.   With a full time job and all the hectic life issues this is a mammoth undertaking.  I had a hard time finding time to just tweet and read up.  Never mind keep trading.  I for one commend you on your effort Bosman and ask the community why almost none of you tried to take ownership and make this "our coin".  Total bystander effect as someone earlier noted.   To those that stepped up you should feel proud.

ok. The game is over.

I don't feel that the game is over.  I just want my bitcoin to trade with on a higher volume coin.  I think with a new dev there is tons of potential.  If I were a bigger fish I would stick it out.

Hello GPC community.  I have decided to sell my shares and move on for the sole purpose of continuing my quest to earn my first Bitcoin.  I loved running the account and think I gained 50 followers in those few days and had a substantial amt of RTs for the position the coin finds itself in.  I returned the 10000 coin donation to the member who donated it and have logged out of the account.  Due to not having a vested interest in the coin any longer continuing to run the account "for free" so to speak does not seem logical.  Should any of you want to compensate myself for the services this could be arranged.  Love the coin, thought Bosman was on to something here, but the wait time for a substantial return does not match my goals at the moment.  Anyhoo this was a fun experience and good luck to everyone.  I will continue to watch eagerly and hopefully buy back in one day.

Let me know what you think.

PS: My vote is for the first logo.  Both are really nice but the colours on the first one pop and it feels right.
300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Revamped PinkCoin (PC / PINK) PoS | Multipool | Fundraiser | Anonymous on: August 21, 2014, 10:36:21 PM
I seem to have lost my 60000 pink coins help!  I tried to upgrade to the new wallet after experiencing a can't load blk files msg.  I then googled a fix which was to save wallet.dat and delete all other files and reload.  Thats where I am now and can get the new wallet to load but no coins.  I then tried loading old wallet and now no coins.  I have now 4 different wallet files and for the life of me can't figure this out.  Anybody able to help?  At this point my guess is to send someone the file and hopefully your honest enough to send me the retrieved coins to my new wallet.  Any takers?

Hmm. Yeah don't delete any wallet files until you're sure which one has the coins. Which wallet.dat file has the bigger file size?

The first one...That was a good point.  Every time I reloaded it created a new wallet. One is a old backup as well I think.  Can I just drag this file into the new wallet files and load?

Yeah, the first one (biggest one) is the one with all your coins. Close your wallet, *copy* (don't move) your original backup to the folder where it keeps creating new wallet.dat's, replacing the one you already have there, and open the wallet again. You should have your coins back. PM me if you don't.

Thanks for your help and cryptzo help.  It still created a new wallet upon restarting and then a day to sync to no success.  I tried again with the copy and paste and it worked like a charm.  Sweet, not a millionaire but working on it.  I hear the hundred thousand club gets free VHS rentals.  Shocked
