If it's not throwing errors and you have your conf file set right, it's probably working.

Swiftcoin?

Does anyone have more information on this? Is it Solidcoin 3.fail?

I don't see anything open or in support of full disclosure.

Meh, prone to failure. It's not open source, and it's not backed by any government.

289  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New Guy here, looking to find if mining is viable! on: July 02, 2012, 03:09:15 AM
Hi guys,

Recently came across the whole notion of "mining" and wondering whether or not it is viable for me - as I have a reasonably beefy rig doing nothing at the moment.

My setup is as follows:

2 x 5970 crossfire
i5 2500k 3.8ghz
SSD etc

Is this reasonable? I'd like to mine a bit maybe running all 4 cores at 75% or so.

How do I go about joing a pool? setting myself up?

Cheers for any or all help!

First you need to figure out how much your electricity is per kWh. Then figure out how much your rig will use while mining. Here's a handy calculator to put things into perspective. http://bitcoinx.com/profit/

You can bypass CCC overclock limits by using MSI Afterburner and modifying it.
