I agree with juhakall. You should really make it clear to people that this is a proxy pool, and explain what that is,

We will be adding info about the nature of our pool to our FAQ section soon. We were waiting for some worthy questions to add to our FAQ and this certainly fits the bill.

in addition to being a little more transparent as to who you're sending our hashes to.

As a proxy pool, we need to study the trends at different pools and determine which can produce the best results in order to be able to pay our miners and also keep ourselves above water. Given that, we need to consider the benefit of making this information public as it can make miners go directly to those pools. It is good to be transparent but also it needs to add value to both sides. We need to think more about this and would appreciate feedback from the community about the pros and cons of doing this.

At the very least, it should be mentioned in the first post(s) that BTC Oxygen is a proxy pool. I didn't know, since it's only mentioned in the second page of this thread. The first posts advertises that "even if a block is later marked as invalid/orphaned your earnings are not affected". That's a bit misleading too, since it gives the impression that you mine your own blocks. I was a bit curious about why there wasn't any kind of block history. Disclosing the pools you use would certainly be helpful in maintaining trust.

We are not a pure proxy pool -- it is more like a hybrid pool. We are submitting shares to pools and also mining directly. We do pay our miners even if the block gets marked as invalid; so that part is still true.

The reason we did not mention this in the first post was as we felt that it was not necessary. We certainly did not mean to hide it but did not think that we need to highlight that aspect.

I'm interested in seeing how you proceed being the first "honest and open" proxy. If you can do this, It could benefit miners and pools alike. However given the recent history of proxy pools, i think you need to adhere to high standards of transparency before people will take you seriously. You'll need to completely differentiate yourself from previous proxy pools. Here's what I would do in terms of providing accountability to the community (rather than to specific miners):

1. Provide a summary of total shares submitted for a given number of network blocks (1008 blocks would be sufficient for weekly stats);
2. Break down this figure into the number of shares submitted to each pool you use;
3. Provide total earnings from each pool you use.

This data will be sufficient  for the community to ensure you aren't pool hopping,

I will need to work out how to provide the above data. Shortly, I will be putting up the pool average hashrate and shares submitted to the network (via pools or directly) on our website. We are not pool hopping and will consider to provide info that can assure people of that.

Also, we are not a pure proxy pool -- it is more like a hybrid pool as we are submitting shares to pools and also directly. We are not mining at other pools as PPS either as it will not be profitable for us -- we pay PPS and our fee is lower than most pools.

that you're only using your miner's hashes to solve blocks and also provide an indicator of how much you are either helping or hindering the stability of the pools you use.

I am not aware that the hashes be used for anything else. Is it even possible as the miners are using standard tools like cgminer to solve the work given to them?

I'm not implying you would be untrustworthy if you don't provide this data, just that it would helpful in allowing you to claim a level of trust that no other proxy pool can.

We do hope to earn the trust of the community. Being human mistakes and oversight can happen and we will appreciate feedback from the community to address them.

We are here in order to make a profit while helping the bitcoin network -- just like everyone else -- and we aspire to do it in an ethical and fair way.

Is there a compiled version of CGminer for windows with icarus, bitforce, ztex, and modminer support.
285  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [70 GH/s] BTCOxygen.com - Pure PPS=Guaranteed Profits, Stratum=ASIC Ready on: December 09, 2012, 10:39:53 PM
mtred is pps and requires you to wait 120 confirms. They don't advertise instant payouts though.

Thanks for your feedback.

I have updated the website to reflect that instant payouts will be coming soon. There are a few technicalities that need to be worked on which is why it has taken longer than originally planned.
286  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [70 GH/s] BTCOxygen.com - Pure PPS=Guaranteed Profits, Stratum=ASIC Ready on: December 09, 2012, 10:20:25 PM
I would stay clear from this pool. The pool operator is dishonest.

Can you please show me where I have been dishonest and I will clear it up.

His Pool is NOT Pure PPS as you cant withdraw your money at any time. You will need to wait a certain amount of time.

Pure PPS means you get fixed rate for your shares. It is not related to payout timing.

You will need to wait a certain amount of time.

I have been clear on my thread that I do payout every six hours and sometimes I have to manually intervene.

I'm trying this for a little while, pointing 1.6gh your way.

Thanks

On your website you advertise "Instant Payout" which isn't true. I'd take that down, if I were you.

Its marked as disabled on the website.

And I am planning on enabling it this week.

288  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [70 GH/s] BTCOxygen.com - Pure PPS=Guaranteed Profits, Stratum=ASIC Ready on: December 09, 2012, 08:07:23 PM
keep in mind that this pool does not mine it's own blocks.  it's a proxy pool.

You are right abracadabra. There is nothing wrong with being a proxy pool.

There are a number of things that we are doing to see what would work out best to keep the pool going and growing. We are also keen on avoiding bad practices like pool hopping, etc. Our priority is to make sure that our miners get the best experience while shouldering the risks of operating a pure PPS pool.

I have explained more about what we do in this post : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=127815.msg1374350#msg1374350

Pool website down???

It is working. http://downorisitjustme.com/res.php?url=btcoxygen.com

Perhaps it was something temporary. If you face any issue, please let me know here or on irc channel #BTCOxygen.

Actually no website problems. Only yesterday.

But what about autopayout? Currently I have over 2 BTC pending. Manual payout does not work. The Autopayout threshold is 0.2 BTC. What are the autopayout rules?

Autopayment worked right now. But what are the rules? Once a day? Passing threshold? ...Huh

Sorry everybody. There was a small issue in the payouts.

It has been fixed now.

If anyone face any issues please report it here or in IRC : BTCOxygen

Anyone else having problems authenticating your workers?

Sorry for the downtime.

The issue has been fixed.

CGminer supports BFL Singles very well.

........ We are operating as a proxy pool, mining directly and testing out various strategies in order to find the mix that suits us best. We are also keen on avoiding bad practices like pool hopping, etc. Our priority is to make sure that our miners get the best experience while shouldering the risks of operating a pure PPS pool. .......

Thanks for letting me know - I was wondering why you weren't doing block history stats, but a proxy pool can't. Good luck with the service! BTW, want me to list you in the Mining pools lists?

Yes, please. I will appreciate if you add us to the Mining Pools list.
296  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [70 GH/s] BTCOxygen.com - Pure PPS, Stratum=ASIC Ready on: December 03, 2012, 03:29:19 AM
Also I cannot find any payout history.

Will be adding this feature soon.(Will notify when available)

How about block history?

Providing block history is not in the plan for now. Since we are trying to keep our fees low, there are a number of things that we are doing on the backend to see what would work out best to keep the pool going and growing. We are working on improving the info available on our site. And at this point, our focus is more on providing useful statistics for PPS miners.

BTW, I would like to know what folks think of the design of our website.
297  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Which is the best pool to join with your ASIC? on: December 02, 2012, 01:30:48 PM
BTCOxygen Mining Pool has support for ASICs

  • We have Stratum support, so very few rejects.
  • We pay PPS with a fee of only 2%. With PPS, your earnings are protected. We take the risk of bad luck.
  • We have developed our own custom frontend. We can add features that you need. Just drop us a note at support@btcoxygen.com.

Heya BtcOxygen,

any update about the "jobs.extranonce2_padding # Extranonce size mismatch. Please report this error to pool operator!" bug?

I am working on the issue.(Will notify when fixed)

Found another issue. On the "My workers page" -> "My Worker Details" the "Lifetime Valid Shares" are not the lifetime valid shares but only the current round valid shares.

Issue Fixed.

Also I cannot find any payout history.

Will be adding this feature soon.(Will notify when available)

Zero rejects after a couple of hours on stratum.  Nice.

Thanks for the feedback.
300  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [70 GH/s] BTCOxygen.com - Pure PPS, Stratum=ASIC Ready on: November 29, 2012, 04:05:33 PM
Yep, received payment.
The "will do auto payout more faster" you just said means you don't have auto payout, you do manual payouts every 6 hours.
It's fine for me anyway.
Received payment also.  I don't need instant availability of bitcoin either, just not getting ripped off is fine. FYI.

Excellent reject ratio, btw!

Thanks for the feedback,

And did you get stratum proxy to work?
