All those leaks seems to be by Karpeles himself, probably to show authorities how "hackable" they are. Just when it would be possibly of his interest, everything Karpeles-related gets hacked: company, blog, reddit. Very strange. Yet more strange, is the lack of the 3 last months.

I haven't downloaded anything due to fear of malware, but would I be able to get my trade data off this? I need it to do my taxes.
there is no danger, the data is in csv(text) files..there is a /bin with executables, just ignore or delete this one.

Why so negative? How about this instead: Bitcoin will gain adoption as holding and using bitcoins becomes simpler and more reliable.
Right. But how will it become simple and reliable enough for the average joe? I don't understand that question. Are you saying that it isn't getting simpler and more reliable and that it won't? I'm saying it is currently not simple and reliable, it is very far from that.

The only full solution for this i can think are banks. Paper money is also complicated to handle and safely store, that's why most people use banks.

Descentralized is utopia, not possible. Holding private keys would make it slow, not a live exchange.
Decentralization IS possible, and it IS coming. Lots of projects being worked on right now. I think OpenTransactions will be one of the front runners to open up the new technology. It is not possible if it involves actual money.

The whole thing is really weird
- Police confirms he was talking about bitcoin - First public speak was a "free lunch" ( typical libertarian expression ) - Real satoshi speaks out after so many time - what OP said
Then he is on the cover of a magazine, several reporters on his door, and sill don't knoe what bitcoin is??? Unlikely.

That's a joke exactly 'cause i never saw it and no reputable third party was involved. All companies do private audits like they did, actualy on an everyday basis, that is not what they announced. The audit they announced was not delivered. They announced a public audit for transparecy purposes due to the gox case(it on their website), it was not delivered. There is a lot to worry about, after Gox scandal they announced they would make an audit. But what they delivered was a joke. It is not an audit, at least not one expected for such case., it is just for the fool.
Due diligence was probably carried out. Part of the due diligence was the audit. The audit was made. You will never see the audit. Why do you call it a joke since you never saw it? I doubt the audit will ever be publicized. Bitstamp may have very well been already conditionally aquired by the third party. The condition was that a certain amount of coins had to be controlled by Bitstamp. Consolidation was made. Controlling of coins was proved (condition for selling / acquiring the business at an agreed price therefore fulfiled). Payment for selling a stake in Bitstamp was made to Bitstamp's former owners. Nothing to worry about. Just wait for an official confirmation / denial that Bitstamp was sold.

You can still run this kind of business in most parts of the world without expensive bureaucracy. USA is the only one losing here.

Nothing to be worrying about, unless the buyer is Mark Karpeles.

You gotta me kidding me!
I still wonder if it was a miscommunication. When she said Bitcoin he misheard her and thought she named a project he had worked on with the government. In the AP interview he sometimes referred to Bitcoin as "BitCom". It was that at most. "I never communicated with bitcoin" Dorian Satoshi
