though I understand it's perfectly possible without doing this
I though u need to flash mac compatible bios on the card to get it to work with mac, right?

0) kill all programs or make a clean boot 1) launch GPU-Z, select your video card, look at +12V indicator and all the temperatures 2) launch miner or FurMark or anything else which loads GPU hard on the card you are watching in GPU-Z
If temperature jumps a lot, like from 40 to 80 - replace thermal grease If temperature is rising slowly but reaches 90+ - replace fan, add additional fans etc. If +12V drops below 11.5V - replace PSU If there is no +12V indicator in GPU-Z, try SpeedFan

I'm using Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 rev. 3.0 with 4 GPUs on Win2k8 r2 I've not tried yet sticking two more, but I had issues with 4 GPUs, like ADL mismatches, cards working on half performance, random hangs, cards simply dissapearing from Device Manager..
Solutions I've used 1) Use x16 -> x16 risers on x16 slots, probably the same as inserting wire 2) Make x16 plugged in card to be first to initialize in the BIOS 3) Connect monitor to the same card, x16, first to init
I'll(probably) connect two more GPUs and will report.

your sheme will lead to orphan block at best ; ) but pool are NOT safe from dishonest miners.

I have the same issue when starting the rig without monitor connected or monitor connected to card which is not 1st to initialize in BIOS. So.. when starting rigs I plug the monitor in.. this is a crappy solution, however it works. I have not tested dummy plug yet.
Also I have the same issue on PC with nVidia and ATI GPUs installed, however it does not affect mining performance.

behave yourself. rudeness leads to bad karma and bad karma leads to negative ebay feedback, if you catch my drift ; )

And the device manager has one Unknown Device.
Maybe it is ur 'lost' GPU? ; )

Also, you should connect with stratum not with getwork using LP. And your hashing speed is very low.

In my experience I 20 works the best. With low intensity card is not working at "full" speed, so you get less errors. Yes, you can separate values with comma. -g 2 does not work for any of my cards, g 1 the best.
f.e. 3 x 7950, LTC, ~600khs each card cgminer --url URL -u USER -p PASS --scrypt --worksize 256,256,256 --lookup-gap 2,2,2 --shaders 1792,1792,1792 -I 20,20,20 -g 1 --thread-concurrency 44000,44000,44000 --gpu-engine 1050,1050,1100 --gpu-memclock 1550,1350,1250 --gpu-fan 100,100,100 --gpu-powertune 20,20,20 -v 1
7970 has 2048 shaders, you can check shaders count in GPU-Z
p.s. you don't want to use exactly the same clocks ; )

changing to what settings?
Looks like unique to the card/system/magic. Check LTC hardware comparison wiki page. On one of my rigs - 7950 44000 works best, 6950 - 12672. But was helping a friend to setup his rigs, those values were not working at all.. I've read somewhere thread-concurrency should be n*number_of_shaders, no idea if it is true, but I would start there.

Was getting "Invalid Nonce - HW error" mining LTC with 7950 and 6950. Fixed by changing thread-concurrency. cgminer 3.1.1, Win2k8 r2, Catalyst 13.4

1) OpenCL is not installed 2) Laptop is using second GPU only for specified programs, should be configurable somewhere in the drivers

btw, why do you remove battery? It makes no sense, except the heat maybe. And some laptops(Dell) think that they do not have enough power available when there is not battery and slow everything down.
Probably to save the battery for when it's needed. Having it hooked to power all the time reduces its life, since there's still some discharge/recharge going on. That's a myth.
