2801  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Stuck Scanning Transaction History on: July 15, 2021, 07:33:48 AM
Your 'log file' and 'dblog' are both dblog.txt. You might be thinking of "armorylog.txt" for the log file.

-snip- I have the settings set so Armory is running bitcoin core in the background and have it pathed to my daemon file.
The pathing should be set in "armoryqt.conf" not in "armorydb.conf" else, the default setting in the GUI will override the config.
That's if you're using the GUI.
2802  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: help with extract wallet seed from wallet file, on: July 15, 2021, 03:31:08 AM
-snip- If so click on wallet on your electrum wallet, then click on seed, enter your password, you will be able to seed your seed phrase.
In addition to the above reply: if you can see the 'Seed' menu in your test, you must have tested a 2fa wallet with disabled 2fa authenticator.
Disabled 2fa wallets have the seed option enabled (it has 2 xprv, 1 xpub, seed).

Multisig wallet on Electrum is a 2-of-3 multisig, when your first created it, one of the keys is managed by TrustedCoin for making transaction, while 1 is managed by you for making transaction also. But there are three keys, the 3rd one is still managed by you which you can gain access to for making transaction if you restore the wallet, you will be able to bypass the 2fa.
The "third key" is in the seed but wont be included to the 2fa wallet during wallet creation (it only has 1 xprv, 2 xpub, no seed).
So the seed phrase or the third key can't be recovered from the 2fa wallet with active 2fa, otherwise it will defeat the purpose of 2fa.
2803  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.com - Makes things difficult to send BTC, am I the only one? on: July 15, 2021, 03:23:25 AM
So hopefully this is interesting for a lot of other users having issues with Blockchain.com:
Never believe the numbers and amounts blockchain is showing you in the Settings/Wallets/Adresses sections, for me there are a lot of false amounts.
Glad that it worked out at the end.
About your note, Settings isn't really the best part to check your wallet's balance.

For the former missing balance, there's a button in that same setting page to toggle from "Legacy" to "SegWit" addresses.
It could also be in your change address which I believe won't be displayed in blockchain's "Wallets & Addresses" setting.

@Shamm you might need to inform newbies about that in the OP because most will literally follow what's written.
I'll already give some tips if they use someone's public key

If you have already your public keys then you will directly go to Encrypt using PGP
Okay, I'd just advice you to rephrase the sentence because it doesn't sound like "others' public key".

The reason I think newbies are being misguided is because I'm seeing replies in this thread - encrypted messages that aren't encrypted using the OP's public key.
They might have used this thread as a reference and used their own public key.
2805  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: help with extract wallet seed from wallet file, on: July 14, 2021, 09:38:23 AM
can i decrypt this file, this format --->mk9y4pONBDQWw80fv/59sIvYJiMPpLwqFs
into a readable seed.?
No, the wallet file is encrypted with your password and can only be decrypted using it.
And for 2fa Electrum wallets, even if you managed to decrypt the wallet file, it only have 1 out of 3 private key of the 2-of-3 MultiSig addresses.
It's useless without the seed phrase or the 2fa device.
2806  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Encrypt and Decrypt a message using PGP keys on: July 14, 2021, 05:44:14 AM
To some newbies who are following this guide: In step 5 of encryption, you shouldn't put your own public key when encrypting a message for someone else.
You should paste the recipient's public key there so he'll be the one who can decrypt the message (it's noted in the app itself).

I think OP has just set a bad example of using his own public key so he can reuse the encrypted message for the decryption part of the tutorial.

@Shamm you might need to inform newbies about that in the OP because most will literally follow what's written.
2807  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Workaround for high transaction fees due to a lot of incoming micro tranactions on: July 13, 2021, 06:31:23 AM
The two wallets I tried want to charge ridiculously high fees for the transactions, which would cost me approx. 60-70% of the total amount. -snip-
For research and other purposes, may I ask what are those two wallets that you've tried?
2808  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Loads of fake peers advertised on bitcoin network on: July 13, 2021, 05:30:09 AM
How would I be able to check something like this myself with my own node?
Are you periodically retrieving the data from peers.dat or are you using a better method? If it's the former, then I'll parse the peers.dat later on at fixed intervals and see what I can find.
I think it's the same as the the result of getnodeaddresses 0 RPC.
Note: it will take a while (GUI will freeze while loading) if you have hundred of thousands of entries in your peers database.
2809  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.com - Makes things difficult to send BTC, am I the only one? on: July 12, 2021, 12:57:52 PM
-snip-
As mentioned in my first post, I tried several configurations, different browser setups etc, none of them working unfortunately, even not on other blockchain.com wallets/accounts. I still can't explain why this happend suddenly, because I didn't experienced any problems with blockchain the last months and I'm nearly using it on the daily. Tbh I would never to anything with BTC on my smartphone, I think this stuff should never be mixed up, but this is just my opinion.
Could be an internet-related issue rather than browser since you've tried different browsers, and PCs?
If it's only happening on one of your three accounts, then it's a different scenario.

I'm positive that the "red error" on the right side should be the current BTC price next to the BTC balance.
Since it's 404, then there must be some important sources of the webpage that wasn't loaded.

Maybe it's an ISP issue or DNS issue since you've mentioned that it once fixed itself.
You can also try flushing your DNS cache or setting a different DNS server like Google's or Cloudflare's.

BTW, I second the suggestion to import your backup phrase to Electrum. That should enable you to send your balance unless it's in your "Trading" or "Interest Accounts".
2810  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Parallels for Mac: Error BDM.pyc, DB error: … not a valid path on: July 12, 2021, 06:45:40 AM
Sometimes, "armorydb" process wont stop even after closing Armory-qt.exe.
That could be the reason why your settings and start parameters don't work.

Close Armory, try to find "armorydb" in your Windows10 task manager's "Background Processes"; if there is, use "End task".
Then start Armory with the settings suggested by others.
2811  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Daily Price Download from an API on: July 12, 2021, 03:10:18 AM
blockchain.com's API has one: https://www.blockchain.com/charts/market-price?format=json
You can also visit the URL and download the data manually, you can choose from JSON or CSV format in the drop-down menu named "Export Data".

I have 3 wallets with blockchain.com overall, and all 3 wallets have the same problem, doesn't matter if I login with or without VPN, Browser, System etc....
it's looking like a browser problem to me than blockchain.com themselves.
Error seems pertaining to an important source that wasn't loaded or have failed to load.

Try to clear your browser's cache, restart it (or the PC itself) and see if it solves the issue.

No?
If you're using their android app, are you experiencing the same issue using the same account?
2814  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AC dangerous for mining farm? on: July 09, 2021, 06:40:06 AM
Just do not use a humidifier (those that requires water/ice to cool the room) since it adds water molecules to the air in your room.
Those can potentially increase the humidity to dangerous levels for electronics, except if it's dry in your area.

If you really have to, use AC instead.
2815  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Analyze the blockchain in windows on: July 09, 2021, 03:28:31 AM
What type of data do you need to analyze from the blockchain?

For the commands, you can use this link:https://bitcoincore.org/en/doc/0.21.0/rpc/
The command list is on the right-hand side of the page, you can select older Bitcoin core versions under: "Development->RPC Docs->(version)".
2816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bumpfee for transaction with specified changePosition on: July 09, 2021, 02:56:26 AM
I never used "creatrawtransaction" before. looks quite complex https://bitcoincore.org/en/doc/0.21.0/rpc/rawtransactions/createrawtransaction/
-snip-
Also, it is not possible to specify a feerate. To bump the fee of my RBF-transaction, I would have to deduct a certain amount from the output to the change address in the process of createrawtransaction" command. Do I get that right?
Yeah, it's not a wallet RPC so everything that should be inputted is manual.

I forgot to tell you about "getrawtransaction" to get the raw transaction and suggested "decoderawtransaction" right away;
As instructed by HCP, you need to use "getrawtransaction", but instead of using the two commands,
you can just add the optional "true" or "1" flag to get the result decoded.

Try it on HCP's example transaction:
Code:
getrawtransaction 2c7a86754ea57332533cc0ff8ede520741d9c1028eef9c18ff40b728787f20d9 true

Not sure yet which information from "decoderawtransaction" I have to input in "creatrawtransaction".

If you want to completely re-create the txn, just use all the inputs and copy the outputs but reduce the amount of the change by a value enough to cover the additional fee for the replacement txn.
Getting the inputs' amounts is necessary if you'll not use all of them for the replacement txn.
2817  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Differences between wallet.dat file back up from different time on: July 08, 2021, 05:47:26 AM
-snip- What will I miss if I use the 2020 back up file for recovering the wallet? This is something I'm little knowledged; in fact I'm comfused.
AFAIK, just the labels that you've set after the backup.

You're right about the funds since it should be an "HD wallet" if it's a wallet created on 2020,
considering that you're using the latest Bitcoin Core version at that time.
2818  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: "Not enough funds" but i have funds! on: July 08, 2021, 03:42:22 AM
I did everything as instructed and it's still saying I don't have enough funds.
I suggest you to create your own thread and include more information so people wont have to guess what's the issue.
You can go to Electrum board: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=98.0, then click the small-blue "new topic" button at the right side of the page.

For the info that should be included: you can follow this thread's instructions: [READ BEFORE POSTING] Tech Support Help Request Format

To get you started: Sometimes, if it isn't a local transaction in the history or the misunderstanding the mBTC/BTC units,
it may be caused by frozen coins or addresses.
So check for local transaction in the history tab, and try to delete it;
or check the coins/addresses tab ("View->Show Coins/Addresses" to enable the tabs), if there are blue-highlighted addresses, those are frozen.
You can right-click and select "Unfreeze Address/Coin" to unfree it.
2819  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bumpfee for transaction with specified changePosition on: July 08, 2021, 02:45:40 AM
Based from this documentation, bumpfee doesn't have such option: https://bitcoincore.org/en/doc/0.21.0/rpc/wallet/bumpfee/

The only option I know is by using "createrawtransaction" and "decoderawtransaction" to make a replacement for the txn with rbf.
The outputs' positions will follow the arrangement of the outputs array, so include your wallet's own address as the last.

The trick is to spend the one/all input(s) of the to-be-replaced transaction,
you can get it by decoding the to-be-replaced transaction and check the inputs' txid and vout, you may as well need to check the amount of the particular output(s) from that txid(s).
Then use createrawtransaction using that/those as the input(s).

Note: make sure to double-check the the amounts because the excess will be used as fee.

-snip- to have my change address as the last output in the list (this is important).
I can't see why is this important.

I don't know if you have other options.
2820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: hot wallet \ buying bitcoin on: July 07, 2021, 02:54:00 AM
There's no other way to test a transaction but to actually send a small amount.
-snip-
thank you for helping.
its good idea but most of the place start sell B from 50$ and for me its a lot ( i want to spend like 100-200$ for now) .
Regarding the other reply about the checking the validity of an address using a blockexplorer,
I think it's not necessary because addresses have a checksum which is used to make sure that a typo will most likely produce an invalid address.
If you made a typo in the site where you'll buy bitcoins, it should detect that it's invalid (unless if the site is badly written).

Take note that there're some blockexplorers that don't check the address' validity like blockchair.

For your original query:
You better off checking a few of the first, middle and last characters of the address just to make sure.
There are variants of the mentioned "malware" by others that can mimic the first and last few characters of your address, so include the middle parts to your checklist.

There are also fake versions of known wallets, Trustwallet isn't an exception, so make sure that you're using the legit version.
