Oh dear god... What kind of numbers do you pull with all that?  Shocked

See sig.

Oooooo, I didn't know we were sharing box stack pics. I'll have to go take one today to post.  Grin

As promised, box P0rn in all of it's glory.

Enjoy.

I agree completely, the pool has abnormal of invalid shares... compare to other pools, its 3x more.

Here is a link to proof why the pool should use poolserverj -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=33142.msg602707#msg602707

I am now an official psj cheerleader.   Grin

$2m - gorilla marketing campaign to promote bitcoin globally
$2m - seed fund for startups / businesses looking to create valuable services around bitcoin
$2m - buy up bitcoins for their eventual global dominance as a true world wide store of value (does that sound too optimistic)  Grin
$4m - fund to lobby / incentivize the top 500 global internet commerce sites to employ bitcoin payment solutions

I'm not quite sure what shads did, but here is proof that psj is by far the best pool server.

For the quick math impaired, that a total of 129,601 shares submitted with 2 stales. Unbelievable!!  Grin

I am donating all of my "world's best rig builder" winnings to psj.

Dear Santa Manipulator,

Please make the price drop below $2 so that more miners leave and the difficulty continues to decrease.  Grin

Thank you.

P.S. I'll have a good bottle of scotch waiting with a nice spicy cigar.

2810  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT - Easy persistent USB key based linux for dedicated miners/mining farms on: October 31, 2011, 09:48:30 PM
For those using bamt on 50+ gpu farm, One of the hurdle is using a quality router or using a proxy for distributing work. Because some pool require as much as 12 active connections per gpu, and most cheap router start to choke past 500 connections,  add to this a bittorrent client and web browsing and this figure can easily double.

Aaron had a Proxy in the making but did not release it.

I am using a well supported Hopping proxy and # of connections is ~80% less.

What proxy is this? Also, do you just run the proxy on one of the rigs and point the others to it?

yes, the idea was that you run the proxy on one machine and the other nodes just pull work from it.   ideally the nodes would just find the proxy via broadcast and so could be zero configuration.

i used the proxy myself for about a month, but it has some issues that i never sorted out.  it is written in python and is very high performance, 100s of Ghash should be no problem for it.  if someone who knows python wants to take it over, i will give them what i have, but it is not suitable for public consumption at this time and i do not have the time to make it so.

you could also explore using one of the other proxies out there.. when i started the project all the proxies i could find pretty much sucked massively, but that may have changed by now.

Would you be willing to put the code for the proxy up on your github account?

I'm glad to see things seem to be back to normal.

However, Namecoin block 25574 was remarkably unlucky (1304912 shares all at difficulty 156504.39 puts this block in the top 0.024% of unlucky blocks).  Of course, such poor luck can happen but such an extreme example occuring at the same time as the reward system was changed and the pool was having problems with stats is too much to ignore.

Have you checked for any missing Namecoin blocks?  Do you keep a log of the nonces for shares (or is such a log automatically kept by PoolServerJ)?

While I agree the circumstances are a bit unusual, I have had multiple dealings with urstroyer and know that he is doing everything in his power to make sure the pool runs smoothly and wants the pool to succeed. Smiley

I would be willing to expand my warehouse cooling to accompany more rigs in the server room i have built. I can hold 30 rigs like the ones i have built. There would be upfront costs to upgrade the HVAC and power, but after than I would be willing to split costs (aka make minimal profit) as this would help me lower my overall costs to run the facility.

If multiple people went in, it could be quite advantageous for all parties.

Just curious what part of the country/world are you located?  I have though of renting some cheap warehouse space to expand my far (10GH/s is the limit of what my garage can handle in the summer) but I don't need a lot of space.  Lots of warehouse space near me but most are 5,000, 8,000, 20,000 sq feet which is just way overkill.

I am in Orlando, FL.

I have:

- 800 sqft warehouse with an office I will be using soon and a room with two big racks.
- Fully insulated server room that is 16ft by 9ft. approx 144sqft of space.
- 208v 200 amp three phase service @ .07585/Kw + customer charge, on demand fee and taxes
- 3 ton AC unit which can be upgraded
- security system with 24/7 monitoring of both unauthorized entry and smoke detection. Alarm utilizes wireless tech, it can't be cut off.
- Insurance on the contents of the building which can have additional riders added.

I will be using 18 of the 30 slots once I get some rma cards back.

Cooling is definitely my #1 problem. I can build rigs all day long, but keeping them running efficiently has proven to be a challenge. I have just recently got all 30Gh running stable, cool and efficient. I haven't had to intervene in days except for jumping on ssh to restart a locked up gpu which has been nice.

Has some got the config sync working for the pools file from dropbox with wget to where it doesn't overwrite the file if it hasn't changed? If so, what's the args you are using?
2816  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: How many kWh are you using a month? on: October 31, 2011, 02:43:08 PM
I'm using about 4700kW with my 8GH/s setup.

Has anyone thought about renting some space in a datacenter among a few users where electricity is the lowest cost?

Just a thought, I'm not sure how it could be handled operationally...

I have spoken with multiple DCs and their biggest problem is the density of power and heat. At 16Kw an hour, they wanted to make me rent 10x the floor space, otherwise they would want me to pay for upgrades to the AC for the rack.

If you go with a normal host, they charge by the 20 amp drop at rates like $259 and that's at 120v which is uneconomical to say the least.

Very nice! Nice clean setup.  Cheesy

How are you cooling yours btw and how much heat are you generating?  Smiley

Have you a handy link there to see it again rather than having to search, I'm not sure how to use the search engine on this site properly.

Here is a link -> http://btcnetwork.com/coinconnect/pages/view/1302/gigavps-mining-operation

The setup has changed a bit since most of the rigs are now in a small room with 3 ton AC unit cooling them. I am running about 16Kw an hour just for the rigs, so that's around 60000 BTUs of cooling needed.

I'll take some more pictures the next time i'm at the DC.

Is something wrong with the site? My hashrate is stuck at Hashrate: 1.46 GHash/s. Hm... it seems to me top 20 is also frozen. Is it just me?

The pool server is accepting shares but it looks like one of the jobs for calculating the hash rate is stuck. Just keep mining and I'll ping urstroyer on IRC.
2820  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What should I user to monitor all my miners from one location? on: October 30, 2011, 04:53:49 PM

I'm just trying out this yourbtc pool now, can you mine just bitcoin. I still don't know why I should care about namecoin.

Merged mining allows for you to do the same work but get paid more. Probably the one and only reason I care. Smiley

yourbtc.net will automatically sell the nmc and convert it to btc for you anyway, so it's like mining bitcoin alone.
