2801  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Too much HODLing stealing opportunities? on: September 08, 2020, 01:25:50 PM
Isn't it true that too long a hodl can stop you from taking great opportunities while sitting dumb and waiting for a specific target?

It depends on your target, opportunity means you already hit the target since we are talking of "HODL" which is for long term investment. The reason why we are holding for long term is to gain more profit, so selling when target is not hit yet despite low profit is not something that would satisfy the holders. I know what you are trying to say, but that's how it is, if we aim high, then we should be more patient and believe that bitcoin will rise.

Honestly, it takes a lot of discipline to do these things properly as we never know what lies ahead, but if we don't make things complicated and we stick with our target, we would be so successful and we not experience a stressful life since we don't decide by our emotion.
2802  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Atlant - An overly undervalued token on: September 08, 2020, 01:06:35 PM
I invested in ATLANT back in 2018 and lost some money on it. I don't think just news about the token swap will help them in the long run. The value of the coin might increase now but after the swap, there's a high possibility that the price will start dropping again.

That's a big gamble if you will ask me, maybe there's a little positive effect on that but it would not create some hype since the trading volume is very low, not enough attract a lot of investors, and if ever the price will pump, I would expect that it's only because of manipulation and we should be careful as that means there's a high risk that we could end up a bag holder.
2803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Peter Schiff son buys more bitcoin against his advise on: September 08, 2020, 12:43:09 PM
His son betting against his advise, I think that is nice because if bitcoin will fail he would win but if it will succeed his son will win, as a family, they don't lose. Probably as influence as he is, I think there's something behind that tweet, probably he is also investing, just trying to get some attention doing some indirect way of promoting bitcoin.

The survey result was epic, I'm pretty sure that was not he is expecting if the intention was transparent.
2804  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we at the first sell off point now?. on: September 08, 2020, 11:15:46 AM
I would believe that we are not, well, no one would really know but I am bullish this year so far, that wouldn't change my belief even if the price will dump. Regardless of how much it will dump, I think we should not panic because we have already seen this many times and that picture you showed reminds me of what happen in the past, so "as long as we don't panic" we will not lose money here.
2805  Economy / Economics / Re: Rampant inflation, yet a steady exchange rate. on: September 08, 2020, 08:05:22 AM
And yet, the USD/SDG exchange rate is stuck at 55 since Feburary (and I also felt my share of price hikes when that happened). Doesn't inflation also cause exchange rates to increase, in an inflationary way?

That suppose to happen, so probably USA's economy is also not healthy unlike before the pandemic. I like the idea of yours collecting bitcoin, however, like you said, you can't buy bitcoin in your country but the fact that you are here in the forum, I know you can find a lot of way to earn bitcoin or find a way to buy bitcoin in any possible forms. I find bitcoin as a way to hedge with the rising inflation especially if you are in a small or poor country, so in my case I'm thankful that I discover bitcoin 4 years ago as I was educated that the fiat system is not safe.

It's good to have an option when hyper inflation hits us, we might not see it happening soon but it's better to be ready.
2806  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Atlant - An overly undervalued token on: September 08, 2020, 05:25:01 AM
And it gave you a good return? Don't fool yourself, man. We are talking here of a shitcoin reaching ATL after ATL just like its name ATL. I am referring to All Time Low (ATL).

The good return was coming from the bounty, probably he does not invest and just sell his reward token, so he makes money.

per details from https://icodrops.com/atlant/

The ICO price of Atlant was 505 ATL = 1 ETH, and if we compute the current price now, atlant is only valued at 0.00005676 ETH per 1 Atlant.

so lets prove that it's not profitable when you have invested and it's computed like this (1/505 = 0.00198 ETH per atlant)

 Current price - 0.00005676 ETH / ICO price - 0.00198 ETH  = 2.86666 %

So based on my computation, investors already lose 97% if rounded off.

2807  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Atlant - An overly undervalued token on: September 07, 2020, 11:31:58 PM
Atlant never listed in an exchange with a decent volume, it's price only pumped during the bull run last 2017 and then slowly the price went down. I believe the bounty hunters have already get their tokens distributed in a monthly basis and atlant are good for fulling their promise, however, despite no threat anymore from the bounty hunters to dump their reward, I think this project will still struggle to get investors considering they can't even list this project in a decent exchange or provide liquidity to the traders.

As per listing in https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/atlant/markets/.. the trading volume is only $458.98 USD, so it's quite disappointing for a project that raise a decent amount during their ICO.
2808  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Problem Gambling in the wake of covid-19 on: September 07, 2020, 10:56:32 PM
I don't know why you had the misconception that people gamble less when they've got less money lol, come on now.

If you take a look at minorities in countries like the Unites States, Germany, the UK etc, you'll find that minorities and lower income families tend to gamble more. This is because minorities often fall into the lower income group due to language barriers, lack of education etc.

You never hear about millionaires winning the lottery, because millionaires don't play the lottery. The time it takes them to walk down to the store and get a lottery ticket is net negative to them, add that on top of buying the ticket and it's a no go.

Remember guys, poverty = more gambling, especially in countries with a supportive government. Obviously poverty doesn't lead to gambling in places where people are literally living hand to mouth with no support from the gov.

That's definitely right, people with less income are gambling more than the rich ones, I don't know, it could be cultivated through their culture or they are just gambling for an opportunity to win big money, the problem is they look only the opportunity and failed to evaluate the risk that is why majority of the gamblers are losers, and that's due to what you said the lack of education.

For lottery bettors, I think 90% of that belongs to the low income family, that's how big the percentage of people wanting to change their life financially in an instant, so their mindset is really different from people who are successful financially as they go throw slow but sure constant process.
2809  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in a good shape? on: September 07, 2020, 12:26:51 PM
Guys I haven't been here for a while and I'm wondering if Bitcoin is in a better shape than last time I checked 2 years ago.

Thanks

Yes because we made a new high at $12,000 this year.

This signals a good future ahead and this year we have some DeFi hypes that gives some contribution to the market to turn it into bullish mode.
I don't want to tell you that bitcoin is in bad shape because it is always in good shape if you only know how to find some opportunity on its price movement.
Bitcoin could be bullish and bearish, let's say in the last 2 years it was more bearish but there were times it pumped, so that could already give us an opportunity to sell for a good profit if we have been accumulating when the price was dumping instead of getting panic.

Investing for long term is good but not so good since we also have to take the opportunity on short term movement while we are waiting for a bigger goals in investing.
2810  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Card counting in black jack on: September 07, 2020, 11:45:14 AM
Statistical evidence shows that you can turn around the house edge with this 'trick', and increases the players chances. But I never tried it though, probably it will take time and practice to memorise everything. I'm also interested to know if there are 'professional' card counter here. It's not illegal, but if the casino suspect you that you are doing this strategy, then you can be kick out of the casino and be blacklisted.

You're right, and card counting become highlighted again with the movie '21', and I'm sure almost all gamblers have seen this movie. I doubt though, that anyone here will admit that they are card counters. This could be considered as "pro", as it is not easy as you need to avoid suspicion, you have to look that you are just an average Joe player, and just betting base on hunch, specially if you double up your bet.

I've seen that movie and I think it's illegal in most casinos so I would not try to master this one, besides, I am not really a big fan of Blackjack game, I have other interest but I really love the movie though, anything as long as related to gambling.

not familiar to this trick but ive known blackjack a long time ago and been also involved on it  .

now that im aware that the trick exist , i think im still not going to learn it  , not because that im afraid to get caught and banned but i just wanted to play fair and square   . casino's are trying to be fair here so why will we cheat them  but other than that  i also believer that if you did bad things , you will also get bad returns much more that what you have done .

You don't messed with the casino with this system, I've watched the movie as well and I like the movie very much, it was already an old movie but I can still watch it over and over again without losing the entertainment value I get.

check out the thriller, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsK1c9ZBpuw&ab_channel=21Movie .. you might like to watch the full movie once you see it, but I'm not telling you to do bad things, of course let's play fair as that would challenge us and will give us real entertainment.
2811  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Electrum update: A trader lost 1400 BTC on: September 07, 2020, 11:25:05 AM
CZ must be wrong by saying beware of Electrum's official update because no one will get hack if that is official, probably that was use by hackers to steal the information of the wallet and the user was dumb enough to store 1400 BTC in one wallet only. Lesson learned but the hard way, and hopefully we can learn from this costly mistake of this particular trader, we can't afford to still make mistakes when this has been happening already even before.

Always be careful of "PHISHING" this is a very effective tool of scammers for non educated individual.
2812  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bearish! on: September 07, 2020, 10:01:48 AM
Is btc at its lowest right now or it will still fall near to $9k?
Hard to answer that, if I know I would be really rich already.
just trust your instinct, based on your research and analysis, what do you think, will it dump or will stay and $10,000 and will rise?

Whales are locking heavily on $9k. What are ur views on it?
Let the whales do their job, they are goo in manipulating the market but what matters is your intention, if you wanna play he short term trade, then be smart enough to spot the right opportunity as every significant movement there's always an opportunity, whether to buy or sell.
2813  Economy / Speculation / Re: sell now or you WILL regret it on: September 06, 2020, 11:23:45 PM
We are moments away from catering below 11k and she's only going to speed up on the way down.
Seriously guys it's time to take profit

You are right, hopefully some took profit already as bitcoin was even below $10,000 for awhile, now trading at $10,300, so it looks like it's going on a healthy movement again until bitcoin will probably break $12,000 and that is the time to sell again. The good thing with bitcoin is you will see a lot of action as it's very volatile, one day it's up and the other day it's down, so as long as you pay attention, you'll definitely find every opportunity to accumulate and sell at the proper timing.

And by the way, how is it "she"? Bitcoin is not a person, should be "it".
2814  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin reached 10k USD, where Ethereum come at 352 USD on: September 06, 2020, 10:52:12 PM
Yes it was down that quick. But does the article makers has always to make these articles if ever bitcoin goes up and down? Regardless of that, Ethereum has quickly backed to $352.
That's how fast bitcoin will recover if the market is bullish, so any dump is an opportunity, and probably those who get panic have already regretted if they will see bitcoin will once again climb to $12,000.

I thought that it is going behind and under $200+ again but fortunately, it didn't.

It's unfortunate for me, lol.. I was thinking it could go down more, not because I don't trust and I want ETH to fail but because of the opportunity it could give. The lower price we can accumulate ETH's value, the higher profit we will get in a short term. EASY!
2815  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hold Strong!!! on: September 06, 2020, 10:19:09 PM
There is so much fear in the crypto market right now.
I didn't feel that fear, been seeing a lots of pump and dump in the market for years of investing with bitcoin, so I must say I'm already matured now and have already get used to this kind of scenario, come on, this is just normal.

Taking a look at coinmarketcap now, it's scary to see how much of a dump we have now. Everyone complaining in different groups of loosing a lot of their portfolio to the dump.
I feel your pain. Trust me, it will not last long, everything will be over soon and we shall all smile again. Just hold Strong. We might just be able to smile sooner than expected. Nothing to panic over based on history of crypto. History will surely repeat itself.

It will not last long, actually the market has started to recover again, as per https://coinmarketcap.com/, the market is back to green again.

Highest gainers so far is SushiSwap with 83% in 24 hours, rounded off.

While the most stable coins in the market, bitcoin and ETH, both have increase today so far.
2816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Long Term Investing & why this is the only way to Financial Freedom on: September 06, 2020, 09:52:29 PM
There's not much to explain about long term investing as probably a lot of us already believe that crypto has a future or its the future. Bitcoin has been proven to a strong asset, it has cause a lot of panic many times when it dump but it always bounce back that is why it will survive.

You are one of the many telling bitcoin is a good long term investment, and it's good to see people sharing long term as well and not only TAs on short term, so yes, I would check your channel and let's see if I can find some information that I haven't heard before.

Just checked your channel and saw you have a lot of videos, would you mind telling me what video talks about bitcoin for long term?
2817  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Binance in trouble over listing scam defi token on: September 06, 2020, 11:44:47 AM
Exchange has requirements before listing a project, pretty sure before they list SUSHI it has already passed all the requirements, so I think exchange here should not be blame, people should understand that there's a risk in investing and this is already part of the risk.

At least we have an exchange that provides liquidity to us trades, the only thing they can guarantee is they will stay legit but no control on the projects they are listing, it's even ironic that some traders and investors are blaming the exchange when the price dump, and that is wrong.
2818  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The best trading platform for beginners? on: September 06, 2020, 11:04:09 AM
Binance, KuCoin, and BitFinex, that's my pick though I'm not actively using BitFinex but Binance and KuCoin were both great exchanges. I believe learning how to trade is not like building rockets, I mean it's easy, the hardest thing to do actually is to be profitable in trading and that's what everyone wants.

Huobi becomes the new dumping site of the coin, in my opinion. Most of the coins that were listed here are falling.

Probably they don't do the proper selection of the coin they list, that's why it dump because it has no good support by the community.

All paid for listing but it would also affect the reputation of the exchange if there's a lot coins that would dump under their exchange.
2819  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: There is no ceiling or floor on: September 05, 2020, 11:22:37 PM
There is if we are playing with the volatility.

Just my own perception though as the working strategy is to buy when the price is at floor and sell when it's on the ceiling.

But for those who aren't looking for the volatility, instead they look at the success of bitcoin, then they should be aware that there's no way the price is moving one way^^^ If they will not change that mentality, they will only lose in the long run as whether we like it or not, bitcoin will pump and dump at any situation we are not expecting to see, therefore we should get used to its volatility and that would make us being realistic making us to effectively manage the risk.
2820  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What the heck is happening to bitcoin! on: September 05, 2020, 10:42:44 PM
I guess all of these latest increases in bitcoin has finally caught up with us, there is no way that bitcoin could ever be this low without people giving up on it. I am assuming the reason why people gave up on it is the fact that we couldn't go up. We have tried to go above $12k for a long time and in the end we failed over and over again so eventually buyers turned to sellers because they couldn't make more profit when they bought so they gave up.
That could be the reason, but maybe in time, bitcoin will start breaking $12k and pump to a higher region.

As per this exchange, https://www.bitfinex.com/t/BTC:USD?refcode=H70YTMupQ.. bitcoin price already went down below $10k in the last 24 hours, so it could be a sign that we are going bearish again, but on the other hand, it's also possible that we will pump from this low price.

Moreover, there was a lot of money coming into bitcoin and then going to other stuff like DeFi or whatever and when that hype died down we have went down in the money coming in and we have increased the money coming out as well. In short if you do not make people money they are not going to be supporting you long term.
The hype is big for DeFi projects, but the word hype itself would result to overvalued price, and that hype will cool down soon.
However, for long term view, people have different perception, so it's hard to judge that as I myself is not even sure if the project I have invested will give a positive ROI.
