2801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin must surpass gold on: June 11, 2023, 02:56:20 PM
The two asset mentioned represent different phenomenon for different class of people. Gold is better preferred by the aged and the affluent class and so for them they will analyze gold to be more valuable, it represents royalty, it represents riches, they can have it to decorate all that pertains to them.

The other class is the mass population of people that feels they are the new generation that want to get away from the government, like to be liberated financially without been monitored or manipulated. The youths and the internet savvy, they prefer bitcoin because they can access bitcoin with just a little amount of money and with prospect to hodl and grow it. Therefore, it is of variance on what attributes ascribed to both. The old find it difficult with the internet while the youth value the internet as the new age where they can access every aspect of life including digital currency trading from their homes.
2802  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: European Sex Championship 😳, Will you Bet? on: June 10, 2023, 12:06:40 PM

I don't really support this and hope that this is just a joke.

This is not a joke. I have heard this news on the radio two days ago. But I don't know why OP link is not taking me to the real discussion of what actually it entails link I see other members are quoting real raw lines from them because the link only takes me to emotional relations. https://m.timesofindia.com/life-style/relationships/love-sex/in-sweden-sex-is-now-a-sport-first-european-sex-championship-to-be-held-soon/amp_articleshow/100720445.cms

If they would consider this as a sport then watching pornography would only be considered as watching sports this idea really makes me laugh.

However, I think the difference is that this is being made as sports and going out live in public without subscribing to watch it. Otherwise, most reality TV shows disgracefully allow participants to have sex during their time in the house. Those reality TV shows are first culprits as they don't show anything information but only the notion of entertaining people at home with nudity and sex. I think the reality nudity shows are just the pilot editions and now the Sweden once to take it further by showing the real absurdity.

A right government always does the best and makes improvement in the economy amidst all situation in the world Market. Inflation can be kept under control through its policies. Most of the government doesn't consider much about the micro economy, which means the contribution from the small scale industries. The focus will be much on the macro level and when something unexpected hits, the economy suffers much. Most of the countries that took care of the small scale industries and supported in its progress weren't affected much by the inflation.
Give me a country that cared for their micro economy? I really want to see if they did good and do they have policies that's helpful to their economy. It's no-brainer to focus your attention on macro scale when it comes to economy, that's where the billion dollars in profit come in compare that to the combined businesses in micro scale, it won't leave a sizable dent. I'm no economist so I'd like to be disproven that macro is better than micro.

I think all that an individual goes through wherever they are citizens of depends on the country's policy on the economy. Every country is suppose to take care of its citizens needs through good micro economic policies and macroeconomics too. This is the way a country grows and creates good standard of living not desperate to generate so much profit from services provided for the poor in the society, those basic amenities for small businesses to grow need to be provided like soft loan, good roads, electricity, water, shelter and food at cheaper rates.

@ Latviand , it is not necessary that the government would generate so much profit services the micro sectors and that is why the rich are meant to be taxed higher than the low income earners through income tax. Moreover, an example of country that has good micro economic plan is US. They take care of businesses that has employees not more than 10 because they understand that they relief the government of the burden of unemployment.

2807  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin terminologies and their challenges for newbies. on: June 07, 2023, 04:23:18 PM

My goal is to master every technicalities and terminologies associated with bitcoin, as soon as possible, so I can have a smooth sailing in the trading of bitcoin.

Funny to believe you can master every technicalities or even the terms used in bitcoin or cryptocurrency. It may not be possible to do but you have to understand the simplest of them all like bull or bear, FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) FUD ( Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt) etc. Every aspect of life has a way or terms that they use.

You just need some to be handy with you in your head so that you can easily get the drift of what it is that you are reading, then you can search others using google when you come across them. What you need to do is type the word or abbreviation and including crypto or cryptocurrency, you will get a meaning to it relating to cryptocurrency.
2808  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: would you play more on casino when your country plans to ban BTC? on: June 07, 2023, 02:28:47 PM
while your country plans to ban crypto trading but online gambling legal, you'll gonna to decide what to do with coins.  would you go play your coins to accumulate or just withdraw and wait for the government to change stance?  no other option.

These two are different, I mean crypto trading and online gambling. So you see different people involve in them differently and some people involve in both. For example if you are a trader, you may not know about online trading or you know both, so base on your question if I'm a trader and government plans to ban it then I will withdraw my coins from whatever exchange to my personal wallet and sell either through P2P or I can sell directly on the exchange, covert to local currency. But if I gamble online then it is easier, I can focus on online gambling and continue gambling since it is legal.
2809  Economy / Economics / Re: Binance crisis - how will it affect the crypto market? on: June 06, 2023, 03:18:09 PM

- The media reported about layoffs at Binance. Bitcoin exchange Binance has begun laying off staff. Presumably, the percentage of laid-off staff will be 20%, reported reporter Colin Wu, citing his own sources.

The cryptocurrency market is a sensitive one and investors quickly react by such information.  The layoffs is surely a sign that business is either closing up or being restructured. The regulation in Canada that binance couldn't meet up with automatically means some workers would be relieved of duty since the service is not needed in Canada for now just with what happen in coinbase losing almost 900 employees. Laying off employees is reasonable but it will create understable panic and we have seen the effect on the market. Yesterday bitcoin lost more than $2,000.

- The world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, has lost a quarter of its market share in the past three months as a U.S. regulator prosecutes it for allegedly violating U.S. federal laws. In February, New York regulators shut down Binance-branded Stablecoin issuance.

- The SEC has sued Binance and Changpeng Zhao. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) sued bitcoin exchange Binance and its CEO Changpeng Zhao.
The U.S. regulator brought 13 charges, including unregistered offers and sales of BNB and BUSD tokens, Simple Earn and BNB Vault products and stacking.
The suit also alleges that Binance failed to register its Binance.com platform as an exchange, broker-dealer or clearing agency, as did the U.S. unit. Zhao was sued as a "controlling person."

These are very much heavy allegations that is capable of pulling the trust of binance of the rug. Investors confidence is required in  crypto exchange especially cex

- In your opinion, is this a consequence of increased pressure on China by the U.S.?

I don't think this is about China. If binance have compromised then sec has all legal means to go after them to protect investors.
2810  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which campaign is better? Bounty campaign or Signature campaign? on: June 06, 2023, 09:46:43 AM
If you have what it takes to revolutionize the blockchain world as you said and other marketing height you want to achieve, first you have to look at trust. Trust in the sense that which of the two would attract high ranking members to your project. For a long time, the bounty has been flooded by scam and unfulfilled promises which has put more user off from the section and I don't know what kind of beautiful package that you will put out on the bounty section that will attract reputable users on the btc paying campaign to bounty. So the trust for bounty is in question but if you use the signature campaign, you are certain to get the best publicity that will expose your project more.

The second point to note is where do you get trusted managers in the forum? It is with the signature campaign you get that. The managers do due diligence to ensure they run projects that won't disappoint them especially when it comes to the other end of fulfilling btc payment to participants in the project.
2811  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Subsidy removal and all you need to know on: June 05, 2023, 02:03:51 PM
I go just say the whole thing tire person and that na the wayo wey government dey do the masses. Old government say them pay for subsidy reach June ending and new government remove am or begin to implement one month before time. So now who dey full who? Who dey talk true? Abi dem wan kuku start to carry the money when morning never break. Government no be serious people business.
2812  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Another one bites the dust? Pakistan will ban crypto and never legalize it on: June 02, 2023, 02:15:42 PM
therefore the ordinary user will be a beneficiary, since he does not pay taxes on it and that there are no penalties for it.

The ordinary people may not freely deal on bitcoin in the first place if the Pakistan government have decided to make it illegal. So it will be like passing through the eyes of a niddle in that environment for someone who is bitcoin friendly to live or don't you think that the government there will frustrate investment in bitcoin there unlike places like El Salvador.

The effect of such policy is that the people could start moving out to other countries, they can find there way to Haiti, Dominica at least these countries are not having restrictions for bitcoin that I'm aware of, for example binance and kraken exchange operate in Haiti.
2813  Economy / Economics / Re: You are not prepared what's coming quick analytics exacly of situation on: June 02, 2023, 11:49:18 AM
Honestly speaking, the state of the u.s right now is a bit lopsided, to be honest. Because the country of America is already deeply in debt in the amount of 31T$ do you think this country can recover?

Despite the debt that the US government has incurred, it doesn't stop them from executing whatever project they want to do including wars. While in Pakistan they were in debts, while going after all the terrorists wars they have also been in debts notwithstanding all the humanitarian aids they deliver to other countries of the world. In fact debts have been known with US government since it was created, it is the highest indebted country of the world. From what I gathered from my research , it only cleared her debt during President Andrew Jackson in 1835-1836.
Quote
except for about a year during 1835–1836, a period in which the nation, during the presidency of Andrew Jackson, completely paid the national debt.

Especially now that they don't even have a gold backup for their dollar currency. Then they defaulted and what they did could lead to a recession, something that most people don't want to happen. But I don't think we will end up in ww3.

No body wants ww3 because it is going to be disastrous for all Nations and US have been careful handling the other countries like China, North Korea including the NATO influence in Russia. But I don't think US is anywhere near recession for now, apart from printing more notes, they can sell bonds or treasury bills to help their economy.

2814  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria and the new government on: June 01, 2023, 02:05:25 PM
To all who have thought their would be war or evil, God took control.

Make we still dey pray say make God still dey take control because e never end. The end go justify the means.

Whether the sworn in is your preferred candidate or not, let us unite as one Nigeria and move the country forward leaving aside the pearcing dagger of tribalism.

This election self no too dey about tribalism because even strong hold of Tinubu, many no support him. To move the country forward go hard with the high level of rigging wey every person know. Is not like in the past wey people no too dey put eyes down and now the margin for rigging and mode of it na slap on the masses.

Who e even be you like say win the presidential election?

Before we can see a better government we need to be a better people, we have to be the change that we want first before we can be able to see thigs change around us, people there in government position are just common beings like us, who can make mistakes any time and yet be corrected, we have to also love one another, learn to live in peace with all men, be a patriotic citizens and contribute to the growth and development of the country.

Lol... my brother you dey talk about love one another, you don see love without money for pocket? Hunger dey everywhere, no be home video. For the other hand, me I no believe say change go start from the people oo, no. Na people in government go begin change. Them go begin change by enforcing the right thing. If them begin call bad thing to be bad thing and punish even their family members and friends wey do bad thing then change don begin be that na and every other person go fear to do wrong. The theory of social contract don carry power and authority give the people elected or selected (any how them enter there ) to lead followed by the authority to command obedience through even guns. So change start with people in authority and even for Nigerian system, change start from the number 1 person be it the president or governor because Nigeria be like country wey dey practice unitary system of government mbok.

From wetin I understand about the removal of subsidy eh, e nor bad at all. Even Obi, talk say him go remove subsidy but at least he tell us how him go take do am but this one now just open mouth waaw, without any plan first. See were him don put us now. Even NNPC nor like am but Dem gats play along.

My brother you see that subsidy, if them go remove am time never reach. Like NLC dey follow government in the past talk say make dem repair refinery but dem leave that one go allegedly support dangote own wey obviously dey out for profit. Now NLC and TUC through their presidents, come. Joe Ajaero and Mr Festus Osifo respectively don dey remind them on Aburi we stand lol. Meanwhile, that subsidy na the cost wey dem dey take carry crude go abroad, refine and bring am back. So na who cause am wey make dem dey carry crude go abroad? Na the question be that wey NLC dey ask.

The spokes person to Tinubu, Dele Alake don already start the talk talk and lie lie wey dey inside. We still dey where we dey if not worse off. God help us.
2815  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 5 Behavioural signs that suggest you are Addicted to Gambling on: June 01, 2023, 10:44:50 AM

If you have one sign like lying about your gambling activities to your parents or wife. Would you be considered addict already? I Don't feel like I am.

This is interesting but you have to know that the lies you tell today may need another lie to cover for the previous not to be known. Somehow I believe that part of the attributes to know an addict in gambling is lying because you don't want people who are superior to you or people who can influence you to know about it either by stopping you by force or in the case of your parents who can deny you some comfort if you don't stop, so you have to keep lying about it while you continue in that act of gambling. When you are persistent in an act that other people see as inimical to you without you knowing about it or considering as such to you or you push it away with unnecessary and self satisfying excuse, that can make you an addict even to your wife
2816  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 5 Behavioural signs that suggest you are Addicted to Gambling on: May 31, 2023, 02:18:05 PM

Quote
  • Lying about gambling activities.

I do agree and understand the other behaviours you have stated concerning problem gamblers but as for this one I don't get it because the term activity covers so many things. Does this also including hiding or not letting some members of your family know that you're into gambling? Because if you do a quick survey in the forum you'll see that some professional gamblers or social gamblers ( as you mentioned ) sometimes keep some secret concerning their gambling life from people around them and yet they don't gamble compulsively, so I don't think lying is just a behaviour for the problematic gamblers onl. But assuming you narrowed it down to let's say "lying about their losses, so as to console themselve" that would have been more understandable.

I think IMO I agree with Op on this lying point if he means an addict would lie almost on anything concerning his gambling escapades. First a chronic gambler or an addict in gambling is known to have the characteristics of lying apart from general life activities, he does it to stay afloat with his family in guise of being innocent. Even if his wife or friends knows he is gambling but he won't disclose everything about it including how much he stake or wager with, he doesn't disclose winning and losses, he has abysmal behaviour towards the whole of the gambling. As far he is concerned, it has to be a lie, shrouded in secrecy.

  • Preoccupation with gambling.
  • Borrowing money to gamble.

I agree more with these two characteristics. The thought of an addict is always on that thing that he finds pleasure in and this is about any sphere not excluding pornography. So for a gambling addict he has joy when he remembers he is going to wager some games and he focuses on that on a  daily.

And to the second here, apart from borrowing, an addict can sell off a friends car in his possession only to believe he would surprise the friend the next time of returning the car with a bigger value car. Probably gambling with 2001 Jeep Cherokee compact SUV with the hope to replace it with 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser large SUV
2817  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A opinion on regrets on: May 31, 2023, 11:43:28 AM

Point being there are always new opportunities and dwelling on regrets is futile.

No matter how the word investment is preached, the word regret will always appear in our crypto lexicon. Regret is what you will see people expressing at the time the bull run takes off. But I tell you those who will regret are those who will never take the advantage to invest. They misplace advantage to be risk, risk in investing in bitcoin instead of taking the advantage.
2818  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 77% into the next Bitcoin halving on: May 30, 2023, 09:00:33 PM

My friends are excited and have already started stacking up more Bitcoin in optimistic anticipation that when the price increases as has been predicted already that they will be able to take profits or their return on investment would be 150%. But then, no one truly knows if the price would increase or not. With the current nature of the cryptocurrency market where competition is stiff between Bitcoin and other top cryptocurrency no one knows if the demand for Bitcoin would increase which in turns increases the price. No one knows if there would be some crazy regulations somewhere that would affect the price. No one knows if some crypto firm that is already over leveraged would declare bankruptcy within that time and then Bitcoin's price doesn't rise more than 5%. We are all acting in good faith that everything would run smoothly, we'd take profits and everyone is happy in the end.

This sounds so pessimistic but haven't you thought about it like this too? The what ifs and what if nots?

Your friends seem more optimistic to have started investing in bitcoin and so should be someone who has followed the history of the effect of bitcoin halving especially after during 6 months - 1 year. Before the past halvings, there has always been fud that tends to instill fear on investors but only the strong willed invest for the long run and afterwards benefit from it. For example during the 2016 halving, there was the China struggle announcing ban on ico and bitcoin transaction and that caused the fear then and bitcoin price fluctuated between $600 - $700 in 2016 and after one year in 2017, 17th December it got an ATH of $20,089.
Quote
2020–2021 bubbles. From 8 to 12 March 2020, the price of Bitcoin fell by 30 percent from $8,901 to $6,206. By October 2020, Bitcoin was worth approximately $13,200.

Likewise we also remember the third halving was in 2020 which was characterized by COVID-19, despite all challenges of economic stagnation, it was believed that social distancing worked in favour of online digital marketing and advertising, that led to the growth of bitcoin to an ATH of $64k. The next halving is around April or May 2024 , with my experience so far I don't think fud stop bitcoin price from over taking its previous ATH before another halving.  So it is a choice to invest or stay out
2819  Economy / Economics / Re: My wealth plan for next 3 years on: May 29, 2023, 03:16:38 PM
My wealth plan for next 3 years

I will take loans becouse fiat value is high so usd value ATH.
I will invest in btc, gold, silver becouse money is now expensive so when i borrow now the bull run Will make profit i make profit and from the profit i make money for myself and i can Pay the % to lender.

For me this is just like the wish of the inexperienced investor who only thinks of how to make profit from his investment and never thought of the challenges, the economic challenges that won't allow you breath out those wishful thinking you had earlier. If you want to borrow to invest in a volatile market, what is your shock absorber when you are not making profit?

If you talk of getting a loan , do you also talk of interest rate on the loan depending on where you got the loan. Of course it is difficult to get loan from family to invest in cryptocurrency because most families believe the loan will not be profitable in the business, that the money will disappear in the market. If you are getting a third party loan or through the bank then you can be sure to add 10%-11% interest on the loan. Add such interest up and know what percentage margin in profit that you are expecting before repayment. Take the advise that you have not made a real visibility study on your 3 years plan if you want to rely on loan for it, you are better with saving up the money than going for loan.
2820  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: IRS-CI deploys 4 cyber attachés to locations abroad to combat cybercrime on: May 29, 2023, 10:41:21 AM

"WASHINGTON — IRS Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI) will launch a pilot program in June where cyber attachés will deploy to four continents across the globe to combat cybercrime, focusing on tax and financial crimes that use cryptocurrency, decentralized finance, peer-to-peer payments and mixing services. The four individuals tapped to serve as cyber attachés have significant expertise investigating cybercrime and will work with IRS-CI's law enforcement counterparts in Asia, Europe, South America and Australia.

It is unfortunate that this is an effort to clamp down and suppress the numbers of users of decentralised cryptocurrency like bitcoin. The government will never stop at nothing to push for control of people's finance, this is the debacle but the government won't focus on other human related cybercrimes like  bullying, security by terrorists groups, child pornography and sexual exploitation and manipulation. These are all cybercrimes , I think the government has to also focus on the high rate of crime and insecurity and not just the online crypto trading business before we have another SEP 11.
