I was PMed asking if there was an update. This is what happened...

We spoke on the phone the next day. (20th?)
I increased my offer.
He said he would talk to his partner.

No communication since.

Too bad pretty coins I would have wanted a roll of them.

I would offer escrow but I usually don't handle that much for escrow.

I do mostly under 2 or 3 k for escrow.

I will re-install win 10 one last time and try the 6 card one rig ... if it fails it'll be 3 GPU per MOBO.

Tired of loosing hours of mining and time.

I found that the you have to use the usb risers that are powered in the back of the usb riser board for the 12x pcie slots on the motherboard instead of the flex cables.  I love the flex cables, but they often only work on the 1x pcie slots.  See if this works for you and let me know.

Thanks !!!

I will try that. I have USB riser, but I was using the flex cable for the 12x 16x slot.

Appreciated info

EDIT: what is very strange is whatever card is at position GPU 1, it always the one who cannot create the DAG (Open CL error 36) or just doesn't hash (0 MH) or just hang after 1-2 hours. I got trouble with GPU2 and GPU5, but I can see that it's not the same card at the same position all the time since cards crashes and window re-install the driver automaticly or whatever he do it seems to shuffle the cards.

If I run 4 cards, it is just more stable (2 days). I tried 2 MOBO (H81 PRO BTC) with the same result pretty much. I managed to get all 6 cars running 2 times, 10 mins and 2 hours with with only bootstrap Bios updates. I don't play with wattman, it is a waste of time at the moment, everything reset all the time. I red some info in another thread ... I will try what he said ... plug one card, reset CMOS, plug the rest (and some driver manipulation). I might just re-install Win 10 first since i have reinstalled 9.2 and 10.1 like freaking 20 times.

airsick mobs are nutty.
I just got this mobo

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157681

99 usd 30 rebate = 69 usd.  I got it to replace the mob flooded at the solar array.

So I wanted to run  windows 7  and I got the usb mouse won't work bug.  it works once you load all the  drivers on the  mobo cd/dvd

so I go look around the house and find both a keyboard and a mouse with p2 jacks not usb jacks   just to get to load the mobo drivers.

spent an extra hour last night looking for the   ps2 gear.

the board is now working with 2 msi rx 470s'

this was a cheap build.  2 cards on sale 370 usd. the mobo on sale 69 usd.

so cost was  439.   all other parts were salvaged from the array mobo.  the ram the ssd the cpu.

So I am up to just under 400 mh.
I am happy I have chosen to be high on btc vs eth or anything else.  I have just been converting  all eth to btc at the moment. I also sold off a bit of btc to shore up my cash share of the game.

I am kind of busy helping my neighbor fix up his garage.  we tore out all old insulation put in new.  then put in decent tongue in groove  pine for the walls. next we will put up shelves.  We should finish the job on this Friday.
28045  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: optiona is allways good. 16nm ASIC, 100w/THS 0.1J/GH on wall. on: October 26, 2016, 09:27:45 PM
Well it's a much simpler machine, shouldn't be too difficult. And if it doesn't fall apart in ways that aren't covered by any reasonable warranty plan about 20% of the time it's worth a bit more just because of that.

well the website does not list them at this time.

and I am not inclined to do a preorder or pay 4.2 coins for a 10 th machine.

BTW coins are up to 6.62 usd.

I don't mind paying 1000 usd  for it.

The 13th bitmaintech is 1550 so 10/13 x 1550 = 1192  usd that would make it exactly equal per th to $ usd

It would be able to run on a 120 volt 15 amp circuit.  which means the EVGA 1300 g2 comes back into play for home miners.
I would love to see this at $899.99 and 75 usd to ship it from The east to the USA>

$975 total would be good.

oh bitmaintech will simply drop its price to beat it but I did sell most of my s9's off and I am holding 20+ coins at the moment.

I think everyone agrees with what Newko said.
citronick you really should come back, Juvia belongs here.  Smiley

Ditto!  Come on back citronick and let Juvia help you enjoy the next block party with today's spot price of $669!  Grin

Well...I'll third and fourth those tomes. Not to extend the S9 discussion...but, one of my students (a really brilliant person) in my grad school Research Methods class once quipped, "Yeah, correlation doesn't necessarily prove causation...but when you're observing a cat catch and eat a mouse, do you need to see ten other cats eat ten other mice to feel comfy in the statement that cats eat mice?" IMHO you did a good thing, citronick, and for the right reasons, whether it turns out that our paranoia is founded or not. For me and my teeny-tiny group here, we're doing OK still. No worries.

<snip>

This is testable though, right? You run your mining software, record *all* the hashes 1. smaller than some size, and 2. for some amount of time that provides enough data 3. to test whether or not the data could belong to the theoretical population distribution. The test could be a "goodness of fit test" or use statistical inference.

"Enough data" might just mean enough hashes to determine whether or not citronick has the 32 bit error that some previous miners have had (though I assume that Kano has already run that particular test ).

yeah  I would really like for him to do some 5 day off 5 day on tests.

he should hit a block every nine days.  so if he did say 3 tests of 9 days on and 3 tests of 9 days off.  it is 54 days I would love to see if for the 27 days he was on the pool was a lot different the the 27 days off the pool

Sidehack is one of my favourite Bitcoin people.

I can't correct the misspelling it is sidehack not sidekick.

iPad auto correct sucks
28051  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What is the wattage needed to complete one transaction? (aka CO2 footprint) on: October 25, 2016, 10:17:45 PM
The minimum size is 225 for 1 transaction.

Many transactions are huge  with  200 or more transactions within the transaction.

so  a 200 transaction filled transaction would be 200 x 0.0001 or 0.0200

0.02 btc = 13 dollars   so lets find out how many  big ass transactions  happen each day.

What a massive few days at Kano pool -- amazing block party today, brings back the good ole days and also it kind off put some truth behind Kano's calculations on bad luck brought by S9s.

To convince myself that moving out is the right thing to do, a few days ago, I temporarily moved 108 x S9s off the pool... taking a chunk of S9s off the pool may have normalised the pool altogether. I was hoping I could proof kano's math wrong. so my conscience is clear when I come back to the pool.... but I think he right in this matter -- its as simple as: take 100 x S9s out from pool = get luckier and get 4-5 blocks even with lower PHs.

While I am happy for fellow Kano miners, I am sad to face the fact the S9 farm pointed to this pool is not good for the her - means also that I am cannot mine at kano with the current gear. Lack of A7 information didn't help too... if it ever comes out, I would be more than happy to get my investors expand Juvia's farm and add a "Gray's farm" with A7s only to Kano pool.

I am no expert in the science behind bad luck calculations but I have my fair share of agony caused by faulty controller, hash board repairs, long RMAs and weird readings off a rip-coff copy of cgminer labelled as their own - so I know how bad we need a good competitor to Bitmain. I am still hopeful of getting some good news from Avalon...

...until then.... Juvia & minions have left the building.

My apologies to my fellow Kano pool members for being MIA - appreciate all the PMs too.

I hope to be back soon after some S9 issues are neutralised (link below), until then good mining to everyone  Wink

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=789369.msg16642262#msg16642262

so 108 x 13th =1.404ph   if I am correct.

that would not be enough  to  hurt the pool.

keep them off for 5 more days.

then bring them back for five days.

run five 5 day tests.

off on off on off

if  the luck follows all five tests

good with your s9 off pool

bad with your s9 on pool

I would believe it.

I bought as MSI Gaming 470.  It runs rather cool, about 57o, or so, but what can I tweak to keep the fan running all the time?  It toggles itself to be on for 20 seconds or so, and then turns off for another 10 to 15 seconds.  I just want it on 100% of the time.  I've tried various settings, but it still toggles on and off.

Gaby, that is weird about your hard drive.... These rigs never cease to amaze me...
try wattman set temp to 50_50

also set fans like 900-1200

28058  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Solar array starting to look good. on: October 24, 2016, 06:12:37 PM
So what algos do you mainly run with your rigs (nvidia and ati I would assume different algos for algo efficiency differences between them?)

I am guessing Lyra2 or LBRY, and ETH correct?  Do you pool mine with exchange or solo mine?

Personally, if i'm mining lyra2 and profits are just lacking for over day, ill switch my rigs over to X11evo for a day and switch back after.  Seems to keep profitability to a nice even amount.

I'd probably do some ETH mining myself, but I don't like maintaining wallets and typically mine to a thin wallet based off a cellphone and xfer to coinbase or my hardware wallet for storage till use.... and since there are basically none for ETH.... and I can't just mine to my coinbase wallet... it's kind-of a drawback for me to start on ETH myself. (most of my regular net connections are cellular, so the traffic from wallets and blockchains are not feasible for me to keep online).

I mine Eth coin with  ethpool.org use claymore miner don't over clock keep it simple for stability.

The solar array is 3 miles from my home.  When gear crashes  I have daylight access to the site.
So stable gear is very important to me.

I never thought I would say that mining eth coin with gpu's  is more stable then mining btc with asics.

when the array had 10 avalon 6's and 1 s7 it was pretty much prefect 30  40 day periods of time with no issues.

Not the case with the s9.
28059  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer s9 hashing board capacitor dent on: October 24, 2016, 06:08:35 PM
quick update in regards to the miner its been sent back and aliexpress are issuing me a refund asap! Smiley

Thanks for follow up as it helps people to know if ali-express is good to buy from.

I am glad you got a refund.
28060  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Information on maintenance of an S9 farm on: October 24, 2016, 02:19:07 PM
If I had 50 Antminer S9's on a farm, how often should I expect to have to physically check / touch / be in the presence of the mining units?

I'm wondering how much effort it is to maintain peak hashrates + any other nursing tasks. And assume the initial bugs were worked out.

Thanks

Well if it were s7's  I would say you could go weeks at a time.

My s9's and the most I had were 6  would go for 5 to 9 days and I would get an issue of some kind.

Maybe I had a 20 day stretch between June 16 and august 16  with zero issues and I had to go to the site  five times in that time period.

So I expanded in mid august it is now mid oct.

66 days and I have been to the site 16 to 20 times .  I finally sold most of the s9's and have only 2 ..   I have finally become more stable.  but 2 miners are not much.
