2821  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best bitcoin wallet? on: January 14, 2016, 06:34:51 PM
For me the best bitcoin wallet is blockchain.info. Because the fee is small, easy transaction, easy create a address wallet. and it's my first online bitcoin wallet.

I would agree with you dude but try offline wallet as well it's fare secure than online wallet. Either you can use paper wallet

I want try offline wallet, but for now i don't have time to do it. because i'm not understand what is offline wallet and how it works. i will try it when i have time.

Paper wallet is not really that long of a process to do for 100 percent offline solution.  The only thing is you need to make sure your system is 100 percent clean and it's  not being stored on computer connected to internet.

So it can be done in a small amount of time.  But checking for it being a clean system you do it on is huge.

Hello everyone.

I am new to the forums. I plan on spending some time here. Seems like a cool place.

I'm hoping you can help me... see my post here for photos and details:

I appreciate any advice you can offer.

Thanks!!!

You might look at a PDU for 220/240.  You could then plug the PSU's into it.   You would need to get one that provides that wall plug or a nice adapter.

But PDU's the nice thing is if you get a good one they have proper cabling for how ever many amps they are rated for.  So it carries the higher wattage then you can split it from there to multiple miners.  On ebay you can get them much cheaper then say amazon or local store.
2823  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Beginner Mining Project - Antminer S4 on: January 14, 2016, 06:20:59 PM
Hi All...

I am a little new to Bitcoins and Mining for coins.
I've picked up an second-hand Antminer S4 (as a project) and just need some information on the best way to set it up.

I have a BTC Wallet and I have registered with some Pools.

I noticed there are different payment methods (PPNLS, PPS, P2P), which one would give a better result on mining these days?

Thanks in advance.

On S4 it is really simple you need to connect to it's IP address (should be on screen with S4).   After connecting configure it to mine on a pool and your are set. Have you tried connecting to it's IP?

On pool it's more personal preference.  The first 2 are most common you mention.  But no problem with either one assuming you are on a good pool.

Well this is embarrassing.....seems from the below list I'm first on the list Smiley

Looking at list I see a decent amount have paid for full order it appears.  Should I pay you now for the rest still owed?

Just wanting to check and make sure I did not miss something about paying the rest.
2825  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: January 14, 2016, 06:13:23 PM
So if you go into your Device Manager do you see the device?

I'm thinking devices and printers shows them to.  If set up properly they should show up in there ( I believe it tells com port in that view aswell).

I think he might look at Zadig if not working still. I think it was most common problem.
2826  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Jan 13 to Jan 27 picks are closed. on: January 14, 2016, 06:05:38 PM
I have been trying to find any news that might have pushed btc down.  Worst I could find recently was Cryptsy - http://www.coindesk.com/class-action-lawsuit-filed-digital-currency-exchange-cryptsy/ .    Do you guy's think the fact of a decent size exchange having problem is having much effect or something else is doing it?

It's still in 430's so not horrible but is lower then a week ago around the 450 price.  So a small drop really I guess in scheme of things.
2827  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newb - Is mining worth it with a low budget? on: January 14, 2016, 06:01:39 PM
Hello BitcoinTalk!

I'm quite new here. I've read a few thread and I was honestly wondering if bitcoin mining is worth it anymore with a small budget.

I've got a GTX 980 ti, and I know GPU mining has been efficient in the past, but ASIC miners are the main bitcoin mining hardware nowadays.

So, if I'd mine bitcoin with my GPU, would it be worth it, at all?

Thanks,
A

Bitcoin mining is no more profitable if you mine with a GPU. You need asic and a really good eletricity price. If you have anny question do not hesitate.
Honestly don't even try to waste your time mining using your GPU as it's not worth the time/effort/electricity. You'll be at more loss than gain. Even the small cheap USB mining equipment's have better hash rate than your GPU and they usually cost around $25 only.

Thanks for the replies! I'll look into ASIC hardware.

The hard part is you mention low budget a lot of miners are far from being low budget.  What is your electricity price OP? This will determine a lot as far as what miners might be good for you.

You can get a stick miner like the compac to learn not much.  But you will not ROI on the stick miner they are to expensive per hash.  So it takes a bigger investment to get a bigger miner where price of hash is not as expensive.  And next comes efficiency which is very important depending on your electricity price.
2828  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer S7+ somewho knows anything? on: January 14, 2016, 05:57:51 PM
I'm smelling something new from bitmain next week... Maybe a new Batch, or maybe a new miner version, or something else...  Roll Eyes

Most likely I think it will be a new batch as were so close to batch 9 being here.  So it is almost certain that will happen.  Possibly a little pricedrop will come with it.

But I think a little longer before we see next gen stuff.  I could be wrong I just think current gen at lower price is most likely. And that is pure speculation I have no good solid info on that.
2829  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Share Your Experience With BTC Mining In VirtualBox on: January 14, 2016, 05:54:26 PM
Please share your experience in BTC mining in VirtualBox   Grin

As in the the Virtualbox that you run an OS in?   I would guess not to great on mining as you would be passing through any usb miners you were using.   You would be better off just running what ever OS your emulating in it as a full os.

But it would not be my first suggested way to mine with it.  Have you had any luck with USB miners passing through it to the OS in virtualbox?
2830  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Should I Buy used or new miners? on: January 14, 2016, 05:49:46 PM
buy an old hardware don't make sense...

you wil have to invest in more electricity... and we're all worried about electricity...

so, buy a new model, like S7, it needs not so much electricity than 2 old miners with 1/4 less hash rate.

s7 is very cool.. you must test.

 Cool

yeah if your elec rate works that is great...for me at 13.7c kwh and 0.0927c kwh (lower elec in winter) well ..(again you should just buy crypto ltc or btc)

BUT

if you really want to mine..used is only way to go imho and scrypt miner.....a BTC miner with my above costs would not fly ..even if I was crazy enough to

get a used Titan Scrypt unit (again priced too high)

but yeah if I lived in Oregon USA where some have 3 or 4c kwh elec...I'd be all over Ebay buying Titans and NEW equip Smiley

People have 'offered' to buy mine from those places often Smiley

but electric is king ..then again new equip ONLY has a 90 day warranty...so I'd fully agree with a 1 year warranty...90 days ...er not as big a deal used imho

(assuming whatever has run well the last 90 days) Smiley

Titans though I don't see as a good long term investment.  We know they are not the newest chip, just likely newest currently available to customers.

There are at least 2 batches of SFards out there mining for a private mine on Scrypt.  So you will compete with that.  Also the Titan and cube design has had a lot of people have problems it seems
2831  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New to mining, Help with everything. on: January 14, 2016, 05:46:20 PM
Unless you have free or near free power save your money.  200 pounds isn't going to be enough to get you anything measurable in newest gen tech and unless you can find a good deal on some used hardware your likelyhood of ROI'ing with pretty much anything below $1600 level is pretty much nil at this point.

If you insist on mining, spend your 200 pounds getting the best GPU your system can handle and mine and alt then convert to BTC.  Your GPU will depreciate far slower in value than whatever asic rig you buy (even s7's likely).  Anyhoo, good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Yes it is right .....unless buy at least 3 x s7 then will be some ok ..and mine other coin other than btc then wait this coin to price up then sell ...

By thebway gpu is better
X11 can make one dash per day is 0.007 is better than 2000 GB miners with wasting electricity

If you buy 3 S7's you will be mining BTC there really is not a great sha alt coin.   So I think this bit of info is pretty false.

Also GPU's  are hard to ROI on I have not seen anyone talk about ROI in quite a while.  So you might make a little money, but chances are you wont pay off the GPU and pay for electricity.  Asics really control mining at this point.
2832  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: January 14, 2016, 06:00:32 AM
Hi guys, need your help. i have antminer u3 installation with zadig done and i have problem with this miner. No detected USB Devices.

With cgminer started unplug the usb cable and plug it back in and wait a bit. ==> i try and still not working

You also might look into devices and see if you see it.   Make sure it is not detected by pc and cgminer problem.

What version of Windows are you using?

it's detected by pc. cgminer using 4.8.0. cgminer.exe --bmsc-options 115200:0.65 -o stratum+tcp://mint.bitminter.com:3333 -u a.1 -p X --bmsc-voltage 0800 --bmsc-freq 1306.

using windows 7 64bit

Might try with less and see what it does, then go deeper into commands to fine tune after detection.  It's been a while since I ran my U3's on windows so this could be right or wrong.

But for detecting see what this does:

cgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://mint.bitminter.com:3333 -u a.1 -p x --suggest-diff 144

See what that does for you if you then have U3's showing up or still nothing.  Been a while since I used Windows with them R1 with CrazyGuy's firmware mod is honestly one of best controllers.
2833  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: January 14, 2016, 05:48:02 AM
Then take issue with the shipping courier.  If you don't receive the goods then file a loss claim and make them reimburse you.

The goods are supposed to be picked up and delivered to me tomorrow. My concern is sabotage of the equipment by the other miner.

If you're concerned about it you could:
Have driver stay a couple minutes and watch you un-box to check for any signs of damage/tampering.
If there is, tell the driver you refuse acceptance of the package and have them return it and start a damage claim.

If there isn't physical sign of damage and you're still paranoid about functionality of item you can film yourself, nonstop.
Film from receipt of package, unboxing, hooking up, and configuring pools and watching GUI statistics.  If it doesn't work right from get go
you contact Bitmain and say it's DOA.  They probably are tracking SN#'s (I would be).  If they do then they can verify they are same parts.

Maybe you'll find an S3 in the box instead of an S7 - LOL..  Of course then you could also refuse the shipment as it's not what you were expecting.

If your going to do anything like make driver stay during setup I highly suggest calling supervisor with your worries, and get the backing of a supervisor.   I can't imagine to many sitting there as you set it up even if it's just 10 minutes.

And also by doing this you will make your delivery guy chances are not to happy with you.  If you deal with receiving many packages I always try to stay on good side of delivery guy when you can.  You would be surprised if you are nice sometimes it pay's off.

I'm willing to bet it is a mistake on shipment they saw the large order you mention and assumed your box was one of them.  Committing mail fraud as a carrier... not exactly worth doing for a S7.  I think it was a screw up it sounds like for sure but sabotage.

Your option is either take package or mess with carrier for who knows how long and if they will side with you.  You might call a supervisor and explain your worries and see what they do.  But I doubt there is a whole lot besides taking it or letting them ship it back.

I just mean sabotage as in good chances my boxes were opened and inserted into the datacenter without looking at address label. When they have to package them back up, a dishonest person might throw their poor performers in my boxes to let me have to deal with warranty issues. Or perhaps they will even cause damage to reduce or cause problems for competition.  I don't mean they colluded with the carrier.

My order was for more than five, their order was for hundreds. Easy to not even realize the mistake when unboxing that number. The question is, will they pick random machines to send me, or will I end up with the runts of the litter?

The good news is if they deal with in the hundreds, I'm willing to bet a RMA or boards is not a issue.  Chances are Bitmain get's to them pretty quick.  So I don't think they would take the time to pull 5 duds to send to you. But I see your point.

If you see they are opened and really do suspect that you can call supervisor and try to make sure the driver stay's.  But setting up 5+ with driver sitting there chances are low.  And again this is going to make you the drivers not so favorite client... so you would be between a rock and hard place if you suspect they are duds.
2834  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is there a reason not everyone use Circle/Coinbase to sell BTC in the USA? on: January 14, 2016, 05:42:49 AM
Some people want to do it anonymously i guess, or leave the trace out of their main bank account, or distrust a Centralized exchange since the point of BTC is just that.

I do it in Canada now and it takes at most 24 hours to receive the money in my bank account and buying with interact is instant and cost a flat fee of 1CAD$
Besides anonymity, people have had issues with Coinbase mysteriously closing accounts and preventing people from withdrawing the coins that they bought or deposited.

Also, some people are not comfortable with sharing all of their personal info with an exchange.

In US though there is KYC so no matter what exchange you pick... you have to provide a lot of info.   It is to prevent money laundering which I can see why governments would want.

Coinbase is actually pretty good as a exchange.  I do take extra precautions such as having a bank account just for it.  So I can move money easily into another account linked to nothing and safe.

Biggest reason on closing accounts I know is if they suspect your are buying and selling on like LBC.  That is to keep them legal though ... so not sure if they close due to no reason.
2835  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you earn some bitcoin today? on: January 14, 2016, 05:39:05 AM
just starting out my day. only few satoshis from faucet. planning to bet on a gambling site today.I hope I get lucky. Smiley

That is a good way to start but dont finish it like that too. Gambling is really addictive but if you can control it that will be good. Maybe if you will see what you will lose then you can also see what you shouldve got when you  didnt gamble it.

Just put some in other baskets so that it wont be moved for gambling.

I dont get the gambling after I mine so hard to earn last thing i am doing is gambling.  It is just a losing bet long term by gambling.

Today was signature campaign and mining.  So my favorite time as a little extra.   But mining is my main source as I enjoy doing it.
2836  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: The cost of electricity in the world on: January 14, 2016, 05:34:10 AM

If you could just use solar panels for your mining, you wouldn't have any bills to pay for the electricity. investing on solar panels however can be pricey though as you would need a lot to supply those rigs but this is very doable, i've seen it on youtube.

Doable.. but likely not the smartest thing as a miner you use lots of watts if you are a decent sized hobby miner.    Home miner with less might be easier.   But when you talk 10's of thousands of watts solar adds up.

The person with low electricity cost's wins in almost any comparison with solar.

Why would you think that way...there are still some good people in this world.  He has the same interests as you and would probably go out of his way to protect your package.

Because I've been in bitcoin long enough to have to deal with plenty of people that act in such ways. I do hope they are good people and there are no problems. I'm just trying to prepare if there are problems.

This is like giving FedEx trucks to UPS by mistake, you would hope they would be well cared for, but you might wonder if there is sugar in the gas tank and cut brake lines at the end of the day. Competition and greed can bring out the worst in some people.

I'm willing to bet it is a mistake on shipment they saw the large order you mention and assumed your box was one of them.  Committing mail fraud as a carrier... not exactly worth doing for a S7.  I think it was a screw up it sounds like for sure but sabotage.

Your very welcome I enjoy doing them.  I had not looked at nicehash in a while it seemed to be under 100 percent for a while.  But looks like it is up to plus  14% right now.  Is there a new coin? How many day's has it been up?
